Rockford Fosgate designed the Punch P1675-S component speaker system as a high-grade replacement for your factory speakers. Each 6-3/4" woofer features a responsive polypropylene cone and butyl rubber surround that'll stand up to hours of high-volume jams. The separate dome tweeters provide clear, extended highs that can hold their own when the bass gets heavy.

Rockford Fosgate innovations

Take a closer look and you'll notice a couple of cool innovations. Rockford Fosgate uses a new technique to attach the surround to the cone that yields up to 25% more cone area, for fuller sound and stronger performance. They build the crossover into the speaker frame so you don't have to find an area to mount a separate box. The slots around the frame eliminate the need to redrill screw holes when the factory holes are just a little bit off. Grilles are included.

Note: The oversized terminals on these speakers won't connect to a Crutchfield wiring harness. A free 10-pack of female quick slides that you can splice onto our harness will be included with your speaker purchase.

Product Research

Features

Injection-Molded Polypropylene Woofers: The woofer cones are mineral filled, injection-molded polypropylene. This molding process assures a uniform cone thickness for superior linearity and clarity. It is also light weight and rigid for decreased distortion and improved bass response.

Butyl Rubber Surrounds: The butyl rubber surrounds dampen unwanted harmonic distortion while maintaining linear geometry under extreme weather conditions. This leads to less distortion, superior frequency response, and superior durability.

VAST Surround: The Vertical Attach Surround Technique (VAST) increases a speaker's effective radiating cone area without increasing the size of the basket.

FlexFit Basket: The Flex Fit frame utilizes slots (where possible) instead of single screw sized holes; allowing slight adjustment of the speaker when mounted.

PEI Dome Tweeters: The 1" dome tweeters are made of Poly-Ether-Imide (PEI); PEI is a polymer film that produces a wide soundstage for superior imaging.

Mounting: The tweeters have multiple mounting configurations; choose flush or surface mount. The surface mount housing can be positioned at a 10° or 30° angle. Depending on the mount used, the installed dimensions are:

  Flush Surface 10° Surface 30°
Mounting Height 0.446" 1.075" 1.265"
Mounting Depth 0.912" Screw Depth Screw Depth
Frame Diameter 2.357" N/A N/A
Cutout Diameter 1.75" N/A N/A
Frame Width N/A 2.130" 2.130"
Frame Depth N/A 2.162" 2.140"

Crossovers: The high-pass crossovers are integrated into the baskets of the woofers. The slope is 12dB per octave.

Q
These are 6 3/4 speakers why wouldn't they fit my 2014 Kia Optima lx?
jordan  Jan 27, 2023
1 answer
A
Greetings Jordan, and thank you for your question. Technically the P1675-S speakers are too tall to fit under the factory grilles when using the needed adapter to mount them. They are close, but if any speaker measures taller than the distance we measured, we are going to say they will not fit. We measured .330 inches under the grilles, and these Rockfords are .400 inches tall.

Installed these to my aftermarket 4ohm system, adding in Rockford Fosgate PM100x1 to each speaker, what is the best Hz setting for these for someone looking to get the most base from these speakers? it is selectable at 60, 80, and 100Hz.

Q
I already have the Rockford Fosgate prime components. Could I just replace the woofers themselves and keep the prime tweeters?
jesus  May 04, 2021
1 answer
A
We do not know the crossover frequency being used to separate the audio for the drivers which means there is a possibility that you will end up with a section of audio not being played by either driver. It is best to install the matching tweeter with the new woofer because of this potential issue

Q
I have an alpine mrv-f300 amp and trying to decide on speakers. My choices are kicker, fosgate, and alpine. Im more concerned about clarity as opposed to loudness. Any recommendations?

I am a solid believer in Rockford Fosgate however I was not happy with these speakers. The company I work for builds classic cars from the ground up lately we have found that Infinity Kappa series speakers work Fantastic Four clarity an amazing sound.
james scott  Mar 15, 2019
A
I have been extremely happy with my fosgate punch series speakers and amp. The clarity is fantastic on the components but the 3ways do seem to be louder with slightly less clarity. As you would suspect they do not get a true bass low and would recommend adding even a small subwoofer to complement them. Added benefit is the crossover is built into the speaker on the component set saving space on tight builds. Hope this helps
maxwell  Mar 12, 2019

Hi Darrin, you can't go wrong about these speakers. I got a Rockford Fosgate Power T400X4ad powering 4 of these door speakers and the sound is very clear but they need some good power cause if they don't get the power they will sound like crap. The kicker are nice too. Alpine I like but just me they never take enough power .
namphong  Mar 12, 2019

Where to start? Okay,I'm a big sound Q guy so I love questions like this.it does matter where your placing the fosgates I prefer a set like the p1675-s in the rear because clean and punchy so,it's a great midbass to follow up front the rear.as far as front speakers go I'd do alpine.the tweeters are crisp like the old school Boston acoustics.i like the mrv amps very efficient.if running a sub I'd suggest a mrv 1000 watts or better.higher wattages allow more control over the sound quality of your speakers.i hoped this helped.
darrin  Mar 12, 2019
A
The only reason I bought these speakers were for the price. If I had my choice and they were still being made, I would buy the Boston Pro60. These were the best for my ear. The next best quality would be the Infinity Perfect, followed by the Kappa. If you wanted some good quality sound for a reasonable price, get the Polk components when they're on sale for $120 as opposed to $200.

I went with the JBL ?? Sorry but I don't remember off hand witch ones but they are very clear and strong

No. I am running them off the 50 watt RMS head unit. They sound and perform great. Hope this helps.

I have installed this speaker with and without an external amp. The speaker is definitely an upgrade from factory without an external amp but I installed the speaker with a kenwood xr-5s amp which has 80 watts rms at the speaker channel and they sounded much better.

No they don't. I have a fosgate amp running mine. And they sound great
mike  Jul 28, 2016

No they dont. I used to run them on head unit power and they had enough volume. But now i have them amped. Pretty good speakers
deborah  Jul 28, 2016

Not required but definitely recommended. Mine are powered by a Fosgate PBR series amp.

Q
Can I use the tweeters elsewhere in my car? The wiring is in place and I do not have a place where the mid is going to go.
mike  Jan 01, 2015

A
the crossover is built into the speaker so you will want to use both the mid and the tweeter....they do provide plenty of wire so you can mount them where ever you need. Hope this helps.
eugene m.  Jan 14, 2015
A
Typically tweeters are placed in front of the listener for best listening (usually on top of the front dash). some sounds might sound off but as long as wiring is in place there shouldn't be a functional problem
logan van  Jan 02, 2015
A
Yes I separated the tweeters and put them in my dash with the mid in the door.
james c  Jan 02, 2015

Mike, I purchased 2 pairs of these speakers. I installed the tweeters in the columns along the front and rear windshields of a Tahoe and installed the mid-ranges in the doors. Both locations were the original locations of existing speakers. I'd check with Crutchfield's experts but I believe in order for the speakers to function properly they need to both (tweeter & mid-range) be installed. Hope this helps. BTW, the speakers sound great. I run them through an amp with a sub.
charles  Jan 02, 2015
A
in theory you could. But the crossovers are integrated into the woofers so you would have to make sure the frequency coming into the tweeters was proper. I'm not sure under what your installation circumstance is but this might not be the right setup for you. If you are going to install the woofers later, you might just want to get a setup with a proper free-standing crossover so you can just wire the tweeters first and then wire in the woofers later.
joseph  Jan 02, 2015
A
The tweeters are completely separate from the woofers. In this case, the tweeter needs to be wired to the woofer. The frequency crossover is built in to the woofer housing. It is going to be more important to have a prewired location for the woofer, then your tweeter can be located just about anywhere after that.
christopher  Jan 02, 2015
A
I used them with the factory wiring already in place in my Buick Verano... I used the tweets in the upper doors and front dash... The mids I placed at the bottom of the doors... IE: used the factory wiring but placed the speakers seperatly to fit the existing car... Worked for me and sound great... As to your specifics I can't say but you can use the speakers seperatly. Good luck
richard j  Jan 02, 2015

Mike, I purchased the p1675-s and installed them in my Silverado pickup but I had a factory location to mount them that made the installation very easy. You can mount these anywhere you like but keep in mind that shoulder level is the best for sound. Below is a link to an article from Crutchfield's site. http://www.crutchfield.com/S-fa7ln9Ey2yz/learn/raise-the-soundstage.html Hopefully that is what you needed if not call their customer service they are top notch. You won't be disappointed. They helped me tremendously during my installation replacing my entire system.
james  Jan 02, 2015
A
I'm not sure I totally understand your question. If you'd like to skip installing the mid range and just install the tweeters I don't see any reason why that would be a problem except you're not going to get to use the tweeter crossover because the crossover is embedded in the mid range speakers. However, I think you're better off finding a set of just tweeters--there isn't any point in getting this set just to have the tweeters if you're not planning on using the mids at all.
daniel  Jan 02, 2015
Q
Do they come with crossovers? Because I don't see any pictured. Otherwise how do you hook them u so the tweeters don't do bass?
joet  Apr 26, 2014
6 answers
A
Joe T, Yes they have the crossovers built into the mid's on the speaker you can't even tell they are there. That makes it a lot easier to install. You will not have to find a place to install the crossover. These speakers sound amazing! I highly recommend them for the price. The lows did not impress me, but I have a sub so it didn't bother me.
ryan  Apr 28, 2014
A
Cross-overs are built into soeakers. I have 2 sets installed on my son'sTahoe & added a sub, amp and audio controller. Great speakers,
charles  Apr 28, 2014
A
No, there are not external crossovers. That is one of the perks of this model. The cross overs are internal making wiring easy and not havering to find a spot to place the cross over.
jason  Apr 28, 2014
A
They have internal crossovers--just plug the tweeters into the midrange speakers.
daniel  Apr 28, 2014
A
The crossovers are built into the frame of the Woofer. This makes the installation much simpler as you don't have to mount and wire in a separate crossover filter. I really like these speakers. I installed them in my motorhome dash and window pillars and they sound great. With a good equalizer and bass boost they even put out good enough bass that I decided to not install a separate powered subwoofer.
darrell  Apr 27, 2014

They are built in the the unit. There are four of the connection tabs. Two on top say + twtr -.
