Our take on the Rockford Fosgate P1L-110

Looking to add some slam to your ride? Rockford Fosgate tunes the Punch Stage 1 P1L-110 enclosure at the factory, so you'll hear fierce bass with this compact box in your vehicle.

The enclosure, constructed from 5/8" medium-density fiberboard, provides a durable home for the Punch Stage 1 sub, while its massive slot promotes big bass production. Heavy-duty black carpet protects the enclosure's exterior, and unique cooling ports provide additional protection against thermal damage to the sub.

The Punch Stage 1 10" woofer features a polypropylene cone, stamped steel basket, and a powerful magnet that combine to handle 150 watts RMS without fear. Add an amp and some wiring, and then listen to the P1L-110 enclosure add some low-frequency magic to your music.

At Crutchfield, you'll get detailed, accurate information that's hard to find elsewhere. Features

Punch Stage 1 Woofer: The enclosure houses one front-firing 10" single voice coil, 4 ohm woofer. The cone is constructed of high modulus, thermoformed polypropylene with a parabolic injected molded ABS/Acrylic dustcap. Polypropylene is lightweight and strong, giving the woofer high power handling capabilities with low distortion.

High Density Poly-Foam Surround: A high density compressed half-roll sealed poly-foam surround allows Punch woofers to produce a more linear excursion resulting in more bass output.

Parabolic Injection Molded Dustcap: By bonding a ABS/Acrylic parabolic dust cap of equivalent size to the cone body, a balanced geometrical structure is created. This system reduces piston flex and eliminates cone distortion.

Linear Spider: A compliant linear spider made from tear and fatigue resistant poly-cotton improves mechanical stability under high excursion, maintaining consistent excursion characteristics. This eliminates the need for a "break-in period." The spider rests in a vented spider cavity to reduce heat build-up.

High Temp Voice Coil:  The woofer uses an aluminum 1.5" 6-layer voice coil with a spun-laced Nomex insulating reinforcement collar which offers superior heat dissipation over other commonly used materials. The hard-anodized finish increases the former's strength. These factors combine to improve the overall power handling characteristics of the subwoofer.

Basket: The Rockford Punch woofer features a sturdy 16-gauge geometrical, compound bend frame for added stability.

Solid MDF Construction: The enclosure is constructed of high quality 5/8" MDF (medium-density fiberboard), which resists flexing and has anti-resonant qualities.

Vented Enclosure: The vented enclosure is aided by precision construction through computer design.  The enclosure consists of a front firing 10" Punch Stage 1 woofer with a proprietary high-flow, low-noise port. The speaker terminals are located on the left side of the box (when facing the box). The top, bottom, front and back of the box are covered in black carpet. The sides of the box have a black plastic end-cap with the Rockford Logo cut-out inside of it. The box has an internal volume of 1.05 cubic feet.

Tuned Port: The enclosure uses a front-firing, proprietary high-flow, low-noise port to help produce deep and loud bass efficiently.

Box Carpeting: The enclosure is finished with high-density carpeting for superior durability. The carpet color is black.

Speaker Terminal: The subwoofer enclosure uses one set of 4-AWG high current, binding posts to connect your amplifier to the speaker box for maximum current transfer. The binding posts are located on the left side of the box when facing the enclosure.

Power Handling: The subwoofer can handle up to 150 watts RMS power and 300 watts peak power.

Great deep bass, but....

Written By darrin, Portland, OR on Tuesday, May 11, 2010

This sub is great for deeper bass. It definitely hits the lows clean and hard, but misses a lot of lot of the mid-bass. If you listen to hip hop, and anything with a solid driving beat, you will be happy. But if you listen to rock, you may end up with very patchy, uneven sound. I ended up returning this. 5 Stars to Crutchfield's customer service!

Lots of Bang for your buck

Written By , VA on Saturday, January 16, 2010

So I bought this for my girlfriend and put it in her 2001 Ford Focus. Its on a RF P-300-1 with a
RF 8 gauge wiring kit. All from cruthfield and just north of $300 for everything. I was really
impressed after the break in period when I tuned it in. I spent over a grand on my sub and
amp (all RF) and it sounds almost as good. The box is a little bigger than expected so expect
to lose about half of effective trunk space. Overall it hits clean, moderately hard, and low. I
have had several systems over the years in a few different vehicles and this is one of the top
ones ESPECIALLY for the price. Cant be beat. Power it correctly and tune accordingly it will
not dissapoint.

The type of bass you get from your component subwoofer doesn't depend on the woofer alone. You'll need a strong, tightly constructed enclosure for optimum subwoofer performance.
