Features
Two Punch Stage 2 DVC Woofers: The enclosure houses two
front-firing 12" 4-ohm, dual voice coil woofers. The cones are constructed
of high modulus, thermoformed polypropylene with a parabolic injected molded
ABS/Acrylic dustcaps. Polypropylene is lightweight and strong, giving the woofers
high power handling capabilities with low distortion.
High Density Poly-Foam Surround: A high density compressed
half-roll sealed poly-foam surround allows Punch woofers to produce a more linear
excursion resulting in more bass output.
Parabolic Injection Molded Dustcap: By bonding a ABS/Acrylic
parabolic dust cap of equivalent size to the cone body, a balanced geometrical
structure is created. This system reduces piston flex and eliminates cone
distortion.
Linear Spider: A compliant linear spider made from tear and
fatigue resistant poly-cotton improves mechanical stability under high excursion,
maintaining consistent excursion characteristics. This eliminates the need for
a "break-in period." The spider rests in a vented spider cavity to
reduce heat build-up.
High Temp Voice Coil: The woofers use an aluminum 2"
4-layer voice coil with a spun-laced Nomex insulating reinforcement collar
which offers superior heat dissipation over other commonly used materials.
The hard-anodized finish increases the former's strength. These factors combine
to improve the overall power handling characteristics of the subwoofers.
Venturi-Effect Cooling System: The Venturi-Effect Cooling
system gradually reduces the air-flow exhaust path area and increases the air
speed across the key thermal masses of the woofer's motor parts which helps
reduce voice coil temperatures, improves thermal dissipation and improves overall
reliability of the speaker.
Double Stacked Magnet Motor Assembly: The stacked magnet
assembly is used to create a powerful linear motor with increased excursion
capability for superior bass output.
Basket: The Rockford Punch woofers feature sturdy 16-gauge
geometrical, compound bend frames for added stability.
Solid MDF Construction: The enclosure is constructed of high
quality 5/8" MDF (medium-density fiberboard), which resists flexing and has
anti-resonant qualities.
Vented Enclosure: The vented enclosure is aided by precision
construction through computer design. The enclosure consists of two front firing
12" Punch Stage 2 woofers with two centered, proprietary high-flow, low-noise
ports. The speaker terminals are located on the left side of the box (when facing
the box). The top, bottom, front and back of the box are covered in black carpet.
The sides of the box have a black and silver plastic end-cap with the Rockford
Logo cut-out inside of it. The box has an internal volume of 2.70 cubic feet.
Tuned Ports: The enclosure uses dual front-firing, proprietary
high-flow, low-noise ports to help produce deep and loud bass efficiently.
Box Carpeting: The enclosure is finished with high-density
carpeting for superior durability. The carpet color is black.
Speaker Terminal: The subwoofer enclosure use a pair of
4-AWG high current, binding posts to connect your amplifier to the speaker box
for maximum current transfer. The binding posts are located on the left side of
the box when facing the enclosure.
Wiring: The two 4-ohm, dual voice coil Punch Stage 2 woofers
are wired in a combination of both series and parallel inside the box to present
a 4-ohm load at the enclosure's speaker terminals.
Power Handling: Combined, the subwoofers can handle up to 400
watts RMS power and 800 watts peak power.
