Who needs a powered subwoofer?

To produce bass, you need a sub, an enclosure, and an amplifier, and it can be little tricky to match them all up. A powered sub eliminates all the hassle, as the manufacturer designs the enclosure to house the sub and amp together. This all-in-one solution is especially useful in smaller vehicles, where there's no room to mount a separate amp, or in any vehicle where you need every bit of cargo space. Powered subs range from small, flat boxes that fit under your seat to larger boxes that go in your trunk.

Must have for a soft top Jeep!!

Written by: BSAlex from lees summit, MO on January 31, 2016

This unit far exceeded my expectations. I've been researching for months to try and find a compact powered sub that will give you sufficient bass in a jeep with the top down. Hands down, this is the unit! This was an easy install thanks to Crutchfields video and everyone that's heard it is blown away at how much bass comes out of this thing. I highly recommend this unit to round out the bottom end of your music.

Pros: Easy install, extreme value for the money, clean quality sound and fine tuning ability with the bass knob when changing genres of music.

Cons: Absolutely none.

I've had this in the trunk of an Altima for about a month now. It does't provide huge mirror shaking bass, but that's not what I was looking for. It allows you to hear and slightly feel the bass in your music.

Pros: Good price, not overpowering bass.

Cons: None yet.

Very nice quality, easy to install, more bass than anyone needs in an XJ Jeep.

Pros: Easy setup, sounds great, no issues.

Cons: None really if you understand the risks - may damage your ears, or vibrate stuff loose on your car.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I put this unit into a 2014 Ford Edge along with a JBL amp for the front and rear speakers, which were Infinity Kappa 6.2. Everything from Crutchfield after extensive research on their website. I was very happy with just the amp and the Kappas but I thought what the heck --do the sub as well. Absolutely blown away with the RF powered sub !! I can make it sound like a quake or keep it sane. The quality is very obvious in sound and construction and at the price it has the best value proposition out there. I am in my sixties but still wanna rock and this sure lets me.

Pros: Great quality sound and construction. Price point makes it the best in value proposition.

Cons: none

Way too complicated...

Written by: tdr from Cincinnati, OH on January 11, 2016

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Way to complicated for a do it yourselfer with a factory Acura head unit. Unit works some times, but doesn't work most of the time. Contacted Crutchfield a number of times, they were friendly and offered help, but sub still doesn't consistently work. Had this been plug and play using RCA out's from the factory head unit, might be a different story, but this was a very complex speaker level install with cross overs and wires everywhere and no idea how to actually dial the unit in and get it to work. Not very happy. Would not recommend.

Pros: Sub looks good in the trunk.

Cons: Doesn't work 90 percent of the time. Way too complicated for do-it-yourselfer with a factory head unit.

What I was hoping for.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This is my first sub. I have been using it about 4 weeks now and it gives me a great bottom end to get full range sound in the car. Installation was a snap. The unit is solid and compact. I really like the remote so I can adjust the output on the fly. Only thing that was a bit of a hassle is it needs to be fused at 30amps and Crutchfield does not carry 30amp AGU type fuses. I couldn't find anyone in my area that carried them so had to order from the Internet. Delayed installation by a week. If you order one of these and want to use the AGU type fuse which is in the wiring kits Crutchfield sells, you'll have to order your fuses else where. Do it right away. The other item that seemed a bit cheap is the RCA adapter for the signal line.

Pros: Excellent quality sound Excellent construction Great remote feature Easy installation

Cons: Fused at 30amps, difficult to find in AGU style Cheap RCA signal adapter

A Great Choice!

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I installed this sub on Christmas Eve morning in the trunk of my 2012 Chevy Sonic. I had recently upgrated the Sonics stock HU with a Kenwood DPX501BT Hu and some lower priced Kicker speakers in the front door from Crutchfield and a pair of pioneer surface mounted speakers on the rear deck as my sonic had no rear speakers. I was very happy with the sound I was getting. My metal and prog rock sounded great. The idea of a sub never came to me until I had happened to be browsing Crutchfields site and stumbled upon powered subs. I usually associated subs with annoying overbearing Rap "music". I was leaning toward the Sound Ordnance sub for under the seat, but when this Rockford Fosgate price dropped to onlt a little more than the So, I pulled the trigger. Man am I glad I did. This bad boy sounds awesome. Installed was really a breeze, hardest part I'd say was getting thru the sturdy rubber grommet on the fire wall. Once that was done things went quick. I did have to call Crutchfield Tech support because once everything was hooked up, I could not get sound, but had power. Support talked me thru a few things and we still got no sound. The thought it might be defective, so an order for a replacement was put in. After hanging up, I decided to just plug in the optional Bass Boost control. Turned the volume up to the 1/2 way mark a BAMM! Subby was working. Although this is an optional remote, I think you may need to plug it in and turn it up a bit initially. outta characters. LOVE IT!

Pros: Sound Quality Easy Set Up Doesn't take up a lot of Trunk Space

Cons: None Yet

Perfect addition to stock system

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I purchased this powered sub after looking and reading the many positive reviews i found for this powered sub. I needed to fill a lower end sound i was missing with my stock stereo system on my 2016 Honda Accord Sport. I did not want to change the factory speakers at this time untill I tried doing a couple of things first. I added a set of pioneer tweeters that fit in by the upper front section of the door area to give me some missing high end sound , then i added my Rockford Fosgate powered sub to fill in the low end thump. I'm very happy with the way the system sounds at this time without having to go crazy upgrading all the speakers and adding an amplifier. I listen to many different types of music and i have a very good sounding system for less than $200.00 invested at this time. Anyone with a Honda Accord with the standard stereo should defenetly try this set up and it will not dissapoint you.

Pros: Great powered sub for less than $200.00

Cons: None

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I purchased this Rockford Fosgate 10" subwoofer as a Christmas gift. The subwoofer was easy to install, as I purchased a wiring kit to augment the connection between the vehicle and existing stereo system. We are extremely satisfied, as this subwoofer delivers exceptional low-end punch and powerful bass. This unit is a powered subwoofer, and requires RCA line inputs or has the option to splice wires and use signal level inputs from speaker wires if the head unit does not have a sub-RCA line out. Additionally this unit comes with a subwoofer remote control unit capable of controlling the subwoofer; this control knob provides the capability to control the level of subwoofer volume from the drivers seats without making adjustments on the subwoofer box.

Pros: 1. Ease of installation. 2. Powerful bass reproduction 3. Adjustable bass level control unit.

Cons: None.

Written by: Scoot from Florida on October 30, 2015

This is more the climax to my story than the story itself. I have a 2005 Toyota Sienna. I decided the sound system was woefully short on highs so I decided to upgrade. I purchased a Kenwood Digital Media Receiver from Crutchfield. A week later I ordered Rockford Fosgate 6.5 component speakers for the dash and doors and 5.5 two ways for the rear. I like highs and many reviews talked about too much highs. I have never had to turn down highs before so I bought them thinking I can always turn down the treble. Well I had to. Also, just running the 40 watt RMS speakers off of a 22 Watt RMS deck they are underpowered and have zero bass. Which brought me to a crossroads. Do I order an amp and hope for bass or do I order a powered sub and fill in with an amp if needed. I chose the sub. WOW am I happy with this unit! No you won't break any windows but man does it fill in the holes! I would recommend this all around setup to anyone looking for crisp highs and nice but not overpowering lows. The balance I have right now is absolutely perfect and I haven't played much with the crossovers and gains. All I can say is wow. I can't imagine how it would sound in a smaller vehicle.

Pros: Nice rich bass. Remote gain control is incredible. Easy to install. I love everything about it!

Cons: Ummmmmm...uh...wait a minute...hmmmm...nothing.

Awesome

Written by: Travis from Missouri on October 13, 2015

Installed this today in my buddies 2012 Wrangler 2 door with the stock head unit. I was skeptical at first being a all in one enclosure but once I ran everything and started playing some music does this thing hit. I previously always had installed 2 12''s in my own vehicle but with the con of them being either to much for me or taking up to much space. This little 10 Hits hard and sound quality is great. Super easy to hook up and also super easy to disconnect with all the quick Disconnects. Ill be buying these from now own. Rockford did another awesome job.

Pros: Affordable, GREAT sound quality, Good hit.

Cons: Nothing

I asked Levi to recommend a system for my 92 Mopar B-150 van. I initially gasped when I saw the price of what he came up with. It occurred to me that the vehicle is only valued at about that amount. Then I thought... this is my ride, it's worth it to me. I have never looked back, no regrets! My ride rocks, and the heart of the system is the Rockford Fosgate Punch P300-10. I also saved a significant amount going with a "scratch & dent".

Pros: Small footprint, HUGE performance.

Cons: Practically perfect in every way

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

It's enough to make my rearview mirror vibrate, make my ear drums tickle, and wiffle the skin on my arms. Compared to my son's Alpine 12" 1000w 1ohm - the Fosgate cannot quite shake the car as much, and I'd said it's about 90% to 95% of the same effect. I am very pleased with my dubstep tracks. Fosgate has a faster response time, too. It doesn't feel as delayed, or behind the beat, as much.

Pros: easy installation, remote gain control makes adjustment a breeze

Cons: sometimes I hear about a quarter of a second delay

1st powered subwoofer. WOW!!

Written by: Wayne G from Lebanon, TN on May 25, 2015

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Never had a powered subwoofer in any vehicle before. Was going by ratings and a little from customer rep on phone. I'm 57 yrs old, and don't need ear shattering bass, but I listen to a mix of C/W, and Classic Rock from 70's and 80's. Ran into a few snags along the way. 1st call to tech support, I told them what I had done so far and what checks I'd made and they told me they would send one out next business day, and they did. got the new one and had same problem. my voltage coming from my 12v switched wire on the factory unit was only 8-9 volts and I decided to go to another source. used 12v switched wire at ac control harness which measured 13-14 volts. that brought it to life. Got my turn on lead going through a rocker switch on the dash and the bass boost right next to it, a few inches from my head unit. perfect. Can't turn boost up more than half without it hurting my ears and the gain is at zero. Could have been satisfied with a lot less, but I'm happy.

Pros: Very powerful for just an extended cab silverado. Fast shipping and friendly customer support Good quality components is evident.

Cons: Very minor to me, but tech support guy should have known 8-9 volts for the turn on lead was too low. Even though the power light was on, there was not sufficient voltage to power the amp. No, I don't remember his name and it doesn't really matter. I got it going and am happy.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Nice sub. I tried the sound ordance 8" to fit under the back seat in my honda element, but the door speakers with the amp were putting out more bass, so back it went and I upgraded to the next level with the RF P300. Nice bass, pretty loud and deep. I would almost rather it be ported to give a little more kick. Fits behind the seat well, it's quite narrow. With the right signal turned up all way it will really fill out the bottom end well without running out of steam. But just enough. I'm certainly no bass junkie but I like a full kick on the bass end and this one is just enough. Anything less wouldn't be enough. At least not in an element. Be sure to run a large enough cable to it.

Pros: Nice quality nice bass sound decent price for what you get.

Cons: A tube sub would probably have more bass at the same size and price range but this fits in more spaces.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I have a 2004 BMW 330XI. I wanted to conserve trunk space, so I was "settling" for this smallish all-in-one unit. I don't know what I was expecting. My last setup was separate amp and 10" sub. I guess I thought this would be much worse. As the title suggests, I was blown-away by the sound and accuracy. I read repeatedly of how sound-proof BMW trunks are and how I would have to drive around w/ my rear seats down. That's SO not the case! Can't be happier with this. Buy this...you will not be disappointed.

Pros: Great accurate bass!! Won't shatter windows, but is plenty loud !! Small footprint conserves trunk space.

Cons: none

Amazing Amp!

Written by: mtb7 from Seattle, WA on May 4, 2014

Initially had it installed by a shop since I didn't have the tools to do it while away at school. Wasn't too amazed by the product but just attributed that to the cost of it since they claimed they tuned it. Once I took the time to play with the gain, crossover, and boost to my liking and genre of music, I was absolutely amazed with the sub. Definitely provides more than enough bass to compliment your music at highway speeds. No idea how loud it can really be since I don't enjoy listening to only bass in my music so I have it tuned to compliment the music. I have it in a midsize SUV and I have no reason to even think about getting a second one. One of these is perfect.

Pros: Small form factor (for a 10" sub/amp), fits perfectly against second row of seats in my SUV, easy to adjust amp controls

Cons: None.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Never used a preamped sub before so I was a little hesitant but I have to say I have been quite impressed with it. Took away a lot of hassle I've had with other setups. Attached ground to a bolt in the back ran the power cable and signal wire to the deck and it was ready to bump. It won't shatter glass but it's definitely loud enough to gather attention. If you're looking for that extra deep clean crisp bass I'd recommend this product. With the added punch level adjuster from the sub you can dial it in to whatever music you're in the mood for without ever having to touch the sub. Also small enough to fit behind the seat of my regular cab truck. All in all great product highly recommend!

Pros: Minimal space, crisp sound, easy setup, and looks great.

Cons: I've nothing negative to say about it.

YOU WON'T BE DISAPPOINTED!

Written by: Chris A from Lake, MS on January 23, 2014

I bought this to go under the rear seat of my Supercrew and because it was an all in one package. It fits very tight but it does fit. Long story short, I am 30 yrs old and have been in sound for 15 yrs. This is by far one of the cleanest, most powerful subs that you will find for a single 10" package. Keep in mind the amp is cusom designed to match the sub so there is NO math to figure out on "true" RMS and makes the speaker very hard to blow. Be careful on the bass boost or you will distort the sub. DO NOT run it past 1/4 turn if your gain is wide open. I prefer no bass boost but the gain all the way. Two of these will definitely be heard by the neighbors but at one, it is a perfect but strong well balanced sound. Cant believe it is just one 10" sub!!! YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED

Pros: Many features built in, self amplified, compact, LOUD for one 10

Cons: NONE unless your looking for trunk rattling bass

Buy this Sub!!!!!

Written by: JBT from Maui, HI on January 19, 2014

I installed this in my 2010 F150 Supercrew cab and this thing does more than fill the entire truck with deep, clean sounding bass. I used to be a bazooka tube guy, but this hits harder, cleaner, and takes up less space. I also love the remote bass adjustment, which I installed right next to my steering wheel so I can adjust it according to the style of music I am listening to on the fly. In reality this has the potential to have more bass than you actually need. If you want more bass than this, then you are simply looking to show off or tick off your neighbors as you drive down the street. To be clear, if you crank this thing up, you can hear the bass out of the truck. The amp/woofer/enclosure combo is perfectly tuned to provide a very clean sounding bass. I do recommend keeping your "gain" setting low so that you get a clean sound. If you are on a tight budget, this is the way to go. You can install this without touching/replacing your factory deck or voiding your warranty. Once you buy the proper wiring kit (8 gauge), all you need is "posi-tap" connectors and 16 gauge speaker wire and tap into the rear speakers, no signal wire necessary. Obviously you still need to connect your 8 gauge power(red) to the battery and ground wire(black) to a metal screw on your vehicle. Because this amp has a hi-level / low-level converter built in, you still get quality sound tapping into the rear speakers.

Pros: Powerful clean sounding bass, very easy to install.

Cons: None!

Great subwoofer

Written by: Josh from Bakersfield, CA on October 3, 2013

I replaced all of the speakers in my car and got an amp to power them, but it was lacking in that low bass it needed to be perfect, and if a song was heavy on bass my speakers would muffle a bit from trying to handle it. I got this sub to fix my problems and it did the trick. I put it in the back of my 2013 Scion tC, install was a breeze by the way took two hours by myself, and it does everything that i wanted it too. The bass is tight and loud if you wanted it to be. It's not going to make your ears bleed but it'll thump when you want it too. Takes the load off of my speakers and now I can really feel the music. My favorite part is the remote bass knob, great when switching between styles of music it lets me dial in just the right bass for the song.

Pros: Durable build quality, the metal mesh protecting the speaker is top notch. Easy install. Great sound quality. Powerful for its size. Amazing remote knob. Not too big to put in the back. Loud if you want it to be, but not obnoxious. Excellent crossover. Need I to continue?

Cons: None that I can find.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

At first, i was skeptical about getting this, because i wasn't sure if the bass would be as loud as i wanted.... After starting it up, WOW! I was proved wrong this thing is loud! I used to have the Rockford P2L-212 subwoofer package and to compare to the P300-10, the P300-10 is smaller and almost as loud which is exactly what i wanted. I'm a 21 year old and I like my bass to be somewhat heavy at times and this unit will do the trick! My genre is rap, rock, and alot of club house/ dubstep music. I love this little thing it is clean when you want it to be and loud when you want it to be. You wont impress the block but you will impress the driver beside you! I would recommend this unit to anyone who likes jamming to there music or is just looking to fill the car with some nice lows.

Pros: Small, choice of remote turn on options is nice, good clean bass, quick connects for easy removal of unit

Cons: Doesn't do my laundry

Well worth the money. I had ordered a Sound Ordinance sub but it just didn't have what I was looking for. This has plenty of power and good sound. Fits well under the rear seat of my Nissan Titan. I am using this with a JVC head unit and Alpine speakers in the door. It fills the void for low end.

Pros: This piece can be had for less at other online stores but the service is what sells this for me.

Cons:

Great Sub, in a tiny package. When needing a little more bottom end for my 2006 Volvo S40, I didn't have many options to choose from. Factory head unit is not upgrade-able. so adding a sub and amp was next to impossible. After looking into this combo, and discovering the auto on features, which do work surprisingly well, I figured I would give it a shot. Install was cake, and the sound is amazing. After having a JL 12-W7 in my last car, I wasn't expecting much. It's no W7, but it definitely fills the gap and makes things shake

Pros: Small Package (the sub that is!) Easy install. Price point is great

Cons: None so far.

Supurb sounding for a 10 sub.

Written by: Gregg from Billings, MT on May 31, 2013

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Installed this sub in a 2012 Sprinter service van. Fits perfectly behind the drivers seat. Head unit is a Kenwood DPX-500BT. Music listened to is anything but rap. The sound is unbelievable. It won't rattle the mirrors but is more than enough to add just the right sub to the stock 5-1/4 component speakers. The remote bass boost control is very convenient.

Pros: Nice cabinet finish. Comes with a sturdy woofer grill. Good instruction manual. Easy to install. Great sound from a 10 inch sub

Cons: Remote bass control can't be mounted in the dash, only under. To mount on top of any surface, control is upside down.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I have a 2000 Pontiac Grand Prix 4-door, about a year ago replaced the stock speakers with RF Punch speakers. A few months ago a put in a new head unit, and I was still looking for more bass. I resisted buying a subwoofer for awhile, because I have a couple friends that have dual 12's in their trunk, and their setups are way to loud, and sound awful because all you can hear is the rattles in the car. So i decided on this powered subwoofer. I am VERY happy with the performance of this sub! The sound quality is awesome which is what my main focus was, but it can also get hit HARD. When I really wanna turn it up, I can easily get it to shake my rearview and side mirrors, without getting distortion or sacrificing sound quality. I now have the best sounding system out of all of my friends, and when i showed them this they all said, "all of that sound comes out of that?!?"

So the bottom line is if you are looking for more bass, but you don't wanna rattle your car to pieces, get this sub! you will not be disappointed, you will be surprised how much sound this thing can put out! BTW the genres I listen to mostly is Hip-Hop and Rock

Pros: Adds alot of bass Great sound quality

Cons:

WOW

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

What a great add to my 2006 Mazda 3. I recently added this powered sub to my Kenwood HU. This is a great sub with fantastic sound and punch. The installation was straight forward with no surprises. The remote gain knob is perfect for dialing in just the right amount of bass. I would strongly recommend this product to anyone.

Pros: Great performance Great price Small space requirements

Cons: None

GREAT PUNCH FOR YOU

Written by: Dano from WV on March 2, 2013

Junior if you're looking for rattle the neighbor's house off the foundation or at least break the Glass Bass than this is not the one you're looking for and you best move on down the road. If however you want a nice lower end base that easily fits in small spaces and adds the beat you're missing than this is the one you want, it definitely hits the beat with a punch. It's small and great for smaller spaces like a pick up or small SUV, it definitely won't fill your trunk, but it will satisfactorily add the music you have been missing at a reasonable price. It also is easy to disconnect and I believe the best feature is the remote bass level control. This is an especially great feature if you switch music types like we do and want to have easy control of your bass level. I so much like this feature that I am of the thought it should be the standard on all Rockford Fosgate Subs.

Pros: remote bass level control

Cons: None

Great Set up for the money

Written by: NateMDX from Greenville, SC on December 21, 2012

I wanted more bass in my 09 MDX. At first I was hesitant because I didn't want to go to the trouble of finding the right sub/amp combination and mounting the amp then building a box. Not to mention finding an input signal for the whole deal. Then I found out about the powered subs available and was leaning towards the Infinity BassLink2 until I read some bad reviews and discovered it was discontinued. So, I settled for what I thought would be the next best thing - the Fosgate P300-10. Well now that I finally have it connected (which was a pain) and have it tuned in, it cant be beat. I seriously believe this is the best 10" powered sub for the money.

Pros: Simple as running power and ground if you have low level inputs. Awesome sound and compact size.

Cons: A royal pain if you own a newer model Acura with factory system.

2008 Chevy Silverado Crewcab

Written by: Jcfca from Dallas, TX on December 13, 2012

I have the factory stereo (not Bose) in my truck and have been pretty pleased with the sound quality. BUT, it really lacks bottom end when when I increase volume. I wanted to add bass without spending a ton of money or using a bunch of the cargo space that I bought the truck for in the first place. The common sense solution seemed to be a powered sub. However, I had my doubts about sound quality. The Rockford Fosgate Punch P300-10 turned out to be exactly what I was looking for. Fits perfectly under my rear sea. Its a great compliment to my factory unit and really easy to install. It sounds great and can be adjusted with the wired remote. if you want to fill your own space with great sound, you wont regret buying this sub. I also installed Rockford Fosgate component speakers on the front and 2 ways in the rear doors. and it sounds awesome.

Pros: compact, cheap,

Cons: Haven't found one yet.

Features

Overview: The Rockford Fosgate Punch P300-10 is an all-in-one bass solution featuring a 10" woofer in an enclosure made from 5/8" MDF and a built-in 300 watt RMS amplifier.

Closed-Loop Design: The closed-loop designed ensures optimum performance of the woofer, amplifier, and enclosure system.

Integrated Amplifier: The 10" woofer is powered by a built-in amplifier rated at 300 watts RMS/600 watts peak.

Quick Disconnect Power/Ground: The power, ground, and remote turn-on wires attach to a quick disconnect terminal block, so the subwoofer can be easily removed when you need more storage space. Each terminal is a set screw, the power and ground will accept up to 4 gauge wire (minimum 8 gauge recommend) and the remote turn-on will accept up to 8 gauge wire.

Audio Inputs: The amplifier section will accept either a line level (RCA) or speaker level signal. The included 10" input harness has a Molex plug on one end and female stereo RCA jacks on the other. When using a speaker level input, cut the RCA jacks off and splice into the remaining wires. Adjust the Input Level switch to match your input type (Hi/Lo).

Auto Turn-On: The Auto Turn-On switch offers three options:

  • REM: the amp turns on when +12 volts DC is applied to the remote terminal
  • DC Offset: the amp turns on when a 6 volt surge is detected on the signal inputs (from a speaker level source)
  • Audio: the amp turns on when an ncoming audio signal is detected (can be used with line level or speaker level inputs)

Gain control: The rotary gain control allows you to match the output level of your headunit to the input level of the powered subwoofer (100mV-3V).

Crossover: The 12 db/oct low-pass crossover is always engaged; the crossover point is adjustable from 50 to 200 Hz.

Bass Boost: Use the rotary dial to adjust the bass boost; continuously variable from 0 to +12 dB, centered at 45 Hz.

Phase: A switch allows you to reverse the phase of the subwoofer (0°, 180°).

Protection Circuit: The P300-10 is equipped with thermal overload, over voltage, and short circuit protection. The amplifier will shut down if any of these situations is encountered.

Punch Level Control: A wired Punch Level Control is included so you can adjust the output level from the driver's seat. The remote has a bracket to mount it under the dash. The included 17-1/2' cable, with a 3.5mm mini-plug on each end, connects the remote to the subwoofer.

Note: The Punch Level Control measures approximately 2-3/8" wide x 1" high x 2" deep (3-1/2" deep including the knob and cable).

Dimensions: The dimensions listed in Features and Specs include the subwoofer's grille, and the power and signal wiring harnesses, which add approximately 7/8 of an inch and 5/8 an inch respectively. The measurements of just the enclosure are approximately 8-3/4 inches deep at the base, 6-1/8 inches at the top, and 18 inches wide.

No, it isn't necessary. The RF has high level inputs that allow you to access the input from your speaker leads. Both the base Pioneer radio and the Nav radio in your Scion will work; however, be sure to get the input from the woofers in your car. [ Diane  Aug 24, 2015 ]
Not if it has rca amp plugs I have it on my golf cart works good loud lots of bass. [ NEIL J  Aug 23, 2015 ]
No you can keep the stock head unit, although I'd suggest swapping it. If you want to keep the stock head unit you will have to buy a line out converter and tap into the speaker lines. [ Korey  Aug 23, 2015 ]
NO, just have to run power to your battery and one lead to any speaker. Pretty simple installation. Directions that co.e with it will tell you everything you have to do. Pretty good base to. Not overpowering. [ MICHAEL  Aug 23, 2015 ]

Have notice no overheating. Plays well, sits in trunk of 93 318i. [ lorenzo  Apr 08, 2015 ]
I have had no problems with over heating, and whenever I listen to rap I turn the gain all the way up for maximum base. The unit is working hard and zero problems. I installed this in the very back of my Subaru Forester. Make sure you install proper size power cable, instructions state the size required for the power draw. I believe my power cable was about 12' long and 4 Gauge [ Jeffrey  Apr 08, 2015 ]
I have owned mine for 6 months with no overheating issues. I will say that I haven't used it during any hot months yet. It does sound incredible, by the way. [ Carlton  Apr 07, 2015 ]

IVe had mine since Christmas 2014. Never had any issues. I used some pretty heavy Guage wire for power and ground that I had lying around. It's in a 2012 Challenger and beats pretty good for what it is. [ Joshua  Apr 07, 2015 ]
I have never had mine shut off on me. But I don't beat on to hard either. It's in my daughters car and she hasn't said anything to me about it shutting off either. I am very pleased with it. [ Carl  Apr 07, 2015 ]

No problems . Check to see if your grounded good , might also see if power wire is heavy enough and has good connection. [ SAM  Apr 07, 2015 ]
I have had the unit for 3 months, continuous usage for 1 hour at a time, multiple times a day, every day. Sits in my trunk in the hot Florida sun, hasn't shut off for any reason whatsoever. It's a great buy. [ Robert  Apr 07, 2015 ]

I would have to say it depends on how you set it. I like booming bass so I have it set on the lower side but when my friend helped me install them(I have two) he set them to a higher tight bass that I wasn't to fond of so I switched it [ MARK J  Jan 27, 2015 ]
This is a sealed enclosure, so the sound will tend to fall more on the tight and accurate side. It is a great way to add some low end punch into your system. [ Jeff  Jan 27, 2015 ]  Staff

There is a little adapter for the RCA cables. On the Sub there is a four wire plug, the adapter plugs in there. [ Korey  May 19, 2014 ]
There's a converter they plug into that plugs into the speaker. [ Teofilo  May 19, 2014 ]
If you don't have RCA's on your head unit you'll need line convertiers. That will allow you to convert your +- spleaker wireto RCA conections. You should be able to tap into the rear speaker wire to get the signal to the sub woofer. [ PATRICK J  May 18, 2014 ]
