Product Research

Features

Overview: The Rockford Fosgate Punch P300-10 is an all-in-one bass solution featuring a 10" woofer and a built-in 300 watt RMS amplifier in an enclosure made from 5/8" MDF .

Closed-Loop Design: The closed-loop designed ensures optimum performance of the woofer, amplifier, and enclosure system.

Integrated Amplifier: The 10" woofer is powered by a built-in amplifier rated at 300 watts RMS/600 watts peak.

Quick Disconnect Power/Ground: The power, ground, and remote turn-on wires attach to a quick disconnect terminal block, so the subwoofer can be easily removed when you need more storage space. Each terminal is a set screw, the power and ground will accept up to 4 gauge wire (minimum 8 gauge recommend) and the remote turn-on will accept up to 8 gauge wire.

Audio Inputs: The amplifier section will accept either a line level (RCA) or speaker level signal. The included 10" input harness has a Molex plug on one end and female stereo RCA jacks on the other. When using a speaker level input, cut the RCA jacks off and splice into the remaining wires. Adjust the Input Level switch to match your input type (Hi/Lo).

Auto Turn-On: The Auto Turn-On switch offers three options:

  • REM: the amp turns on when +12 volts DC is applied to the remote terminal
  • DC Offset: the amp turns on when a 6 volt surge is detected on the signal inputs (from a speaker level source)
  • Audio: the amp turns on when an incoming audio signal is detected (can be used with line level or speaker level inputs)

Gain control: The rotary gain control allows you to match the output level of your headunit to the input level of the powered subwoofer (100mV-3V).

Crossover: The 12 db/oct low-pass crossover is always engaged; the crossover point is adjustable from 50 to 200 Hz.

Bass Boost: Use the rotary dial to adjust the bass boost; continuously variable from 0 to +12 dB, centered at 45 Hz.

Phase: A switch allows you to reverse the phase of the subwoofer (0°, 180°).

Protection Circuit: The P300-10 is equipped with thermal overload, over voltage, and short circuit protection. The amplifier will shut down if any of these situations is encountered.

Punch Level Control: A wired Punch Level Control is included so you can adjust the output level from the driver's seat. The remote has a bracket to mount it under the dash. The included 17-1/2' cable, with a 3.5mm mini-plug on each end, connects the remote to the subwoofer.

Note: The Punch Level Control measures approximately 2-3/8" wide x 1" high x 2" deep (3-1/2" deep including the knob and cable).

Dimensions: The dimensions listed in Features and Specs include the subwoofer's grille, and the power and signal wiring harnesses, which add approximately 7/8 of an inch and 5/8 an inch respectively. The measurements of just the enclosure are approximately 8-3/4 inches deep at the base, 6-1/8 inches at the top, and 18 inches wide.

Q
Do I need a LOC if I am tapping into the rear speaker wire?
jay  Oct 16, 2023
1 answer
A
Greetings Jay. Thank you for your question. An LOC would not be required with this powered sub because it can take high level in. The input harness provided has RCA ends on it. If using an LOC use the RCA connectors. If using taps and speaker wire only, cut off the RCA ends.

Greetings Clint, and thank you for your question. This is very universal. It can be connected to any vehicle that has a radio. Whether its a basic radio, or a factory amplified stereo.

Q
Am I missing something or what because how do you connect the power and ground to amp? I'm new to all of this. I don't see any wiring harness in pictures and no RCA inputs or connector terminals either. I didn't see any wiring harness in the wiring kit either. I see two harness inputs but no actual harness. I'm confused and need help.
aleysha  Jul 01, 2023
1 answer
A
The necessary power/ground connection harness as well as the RCA input harness are both included in the box. Unfortunately, they are not pictured on the website, but all included items may be confimed via the "What's in the box" section of the product's webpage. You will need to purchase an amp wiring kit as well as other accessories that are not included. Please reach out to our advisors via online chat or phone at 1-800-324-9695 for help with determining what will be needed for your specific project.

What is the internal volume of the enclosure? I bought one already and am attempting to repurpose it as a concealed install with a custom box in my Highlander
lv2drft  Jun 21, 2023

A
I cannot provide that information as it is not listed in the specifications from Rockford Fosgate, Chad. While you may have good results, we do not advise disassembly on any Rockford Fosgate powered subwoofers.

Q
Will this P300-10 be compatible with my factory stereo in my 2014 Chevy Impala LT? And, what amp cables will I need to purchase with this for proper installation?
wayne  May 04, 2023
1 answer
A
Greetings Wayne, and thank you for your question. This Rockford is compatible with any 12 volt system, its just not plug and play. You will need to tap into left, and right speaker wires to get the signal in if you have the factory radio in your Impala. This sub will need an 8 gauge amp wiring kit, and if you choose the Rockford kit, they add an extra year warranty on the sub/amp. You will need some speaker wire (16-18 gauge), and T taps to tap into the factory speaker wire. Assuming you have the factory radio still.

can i install this with stock stereo?

In general, it is possible to use the P300 series of subwoofers with stock audio systems. However, different vehicles will have different consideration for adding this sub. Please reach out to our advisors via online chat or phone at 1-800-324-9695 for help with your project.

What can you recomend to my honda ridgeline 2011 sunwoofer?
jake cruz  Apr 04, 2023
1 answer
A
Thanks so much for your question, Jesus. From the specs I am seeing in my notes, there's not much room for mounting a subwoofer box in your truck and we don't have any custom enclosures for your model. A compact powered subwoofer would be a good option for your truck, I recommend giving one of our Advisors a call at 1.800.324.9695 or by online chat. They will be able to go over your system with you to help select the right subwoofer for your truck!

Q
What can you recomend to my honda ridgeline 2011 sunwoofer?
jake cruz  Apr 04, 2023
1 answer
A
This Rockford Fosgate Punch P300-10 would be an excellent addition to any vehicle, Jesus. For your Ridgeline if you have a factory subwoofer location, we sadly have no drop-in speaker upgrades that fit the original enclosure. If your factory Honda Ridgeline subwoofer needs an upgrade, the Rockford Punch P300-10 is a great choice! Make sure to also pair the matching RFK8 8-gauge wiring kit in the link below as you will need it on install into your Honda. https://www.crutchfield.com/p_575RFK8/Rockford-Fosgate-RFK8.html

Q
For the speaker level (high-level) input on the integrated amp, what is the wire gauge for the provided harness? I'm hoping to use correct gauge Posi-Lock connectors to go from my speaker wires to hi level harness.
luis  Jan 15, 2023
1 answer
A
These wires are 18 AWG. The input harness comes with RCA jacks attached, which must be cut off to use speaker wire input. Alternatively, you may use a speaker wire to RCA adapter to avoid cutting off the RCA jacks on the input harness.

Q
Is this wired 2 ohms or 4 ohms from the factory? I have an alpine deck and can not get this amp to clip with everything turned to the max?
scott  Dec 14, 2022
1 answer
A
Greetings Scott, and thank you for your question. This subwoofer could even be wired to 1 ohm, but by the end of the day the built in amplifier is putting out 300 watts. That Rockford Fosgate powered subwoofer is one of our top selling powered subs and for many years. If you purchased the sub from us, please call our tech support line for assistance. Their number will, be on your shipping confirmation email. If its still under warranty, it can be replaced.

Can I buy the actual plug that plugs into the subwoofer box? I want to install a separate wiring setup in a different vehicle and just move sub as needed
kenneth  Oct 30, 2022

Unfortunately we don't sell the plugs independently of the subwoofer but you may be able to get them directly from Rockford Fosgate directly. Their customer support number is 800-669-9899.

Q
Would this fit behind back seat of a Jeep Gladiator?
jim  Sep 17, 2022
1 answer
A
Greetings Steelcitydad, and thank you for your question. We in most cases do not have the opportunity to measure every vehicle and every possible place to put a subwoofer. I could not tell you if it can fit or not. I would say, take the dimensions of the P300, and get in your Gladiator and do some measuring.

Q
What wiring kit do I need to hook up a Rockford Fosgate Punch P300-10 to my 2006 Toyota Tacoma?
karson  Jul 12, 2022
1 answer
A
There are a few variations of wiring kit that we could consider for this subwoofer. If you're connecting to an aftermarket radio with RCA pre-amp outputs, then Rockford's own RFK8i would do nicely. It comes with the RCA patch cables to connect the aftermarket radio to the sub. Here's a link to that kit: www.crutchfield.com/p_575RFK8I/item.html If you're connecting this to the factory audio system in your Tacoma, please give our advisors a call at 1-800-324-9695 so they may ask a few questions to select from our other kit options.

Q
I bought the Rockford Fostgates P-300 and love it but want more bass. What would you recommend ... Would getting another P-300 10 " help ..? And is it easy too hook up too my existing Sub?
justin  Jun 23, 2022
1 answer
A
That's a solid question Justin! There's no reason why you can't double up on these if you have space for two. You'll need to use another 8 gauge wiring kit directly from the battery, and you'd want to use Rockford if you go that route so you can take advantage of their generous warranty extension when you pair them together. You would need to split the RCA or speaker level signal, and 12v turn on wire if used to the second unit. You can also use the Rockford Fosgate RFK4D kit in the link below as well, but the 8 gauge kit already in place would have to be removed. I did notice Justin that as of the time of this comment, you ARE still within your 60 day Satisfaction guarantee, so we also have another option on a swap out. You can do a 1-2 punch (pun intended lol) where you swap out your existing P300-10 for this dual 10" ported box and a separate component amp the Punch P300x1 I've put in both the links below for you to check out. While it's the same rated power, the Fosgates usually deliver more than advertised and this would move a LOT more air than your current setup. You can keep the already installed wiring kit, and take advantage of the same warranty and it would cost around the same as the P300 alone with no extra wiring. You've got two great options, just let us know which way you want go to! You can call anytime we are open at 1-800-324-9695 and talk with an Advisor that can help, especially if you'd like to swap to the dual box.https://www.crutchfield.com/p_575RFK4D/Rockford-Fosgate-RFK4D.htmlhttps://www.crutchfield.com/p_575P12X10/Rockford-Fosgate-Punch-P1-2X10.html?tp=112https://www.crutchfield.com/p_575P300X1/Rockford-Fosgate-Punch-P300X1.html?tp=35834

Q
Can I hook up two of these at same time ?
jay98  Jun 20, 2022
1 answer
A
That's a great idea for massive bass Pablo! If you have space there is no reason why you could not run two. You will need to split the RCA signal or use multiple speaker wire taps for the speaker level inputs. I've linked a dual wiring kit below we carry that could simplify the power/ground wiring too by running both off the same power wire, with a fused distribution block. This would knock in your ride! https://www.crutchfield.com/p_007CKD4/Crutchfield-CKD4.html

Q
Does this subwoofer need to be broken in?
mark  Jun 12, 2022
1 answer
A
Rockford Fosgate does not mention any break-in period or any specific amount of playtime before playing the subwoofer at harder levels. That is not necessary but never hurts if you were to play it 40 hours or so before turning it up

Unfortunately we do not have that measurement. You may have to do a bit of the legwork here and see if it will fit or not by taking your own measurements. Possible someone with your vehicle may be able to chime in and provide an answer as well.

That depends on your car. Some rear speakers don't have full range going back there. If they don't it will still work though. I just find leads going to rear speakers.

I have a 2020 Toyota Corolla HB non JBL system. Can I hook into factory amp to power amp and Sub? There are little wiring schematics out there and was wondering if you had schematic with color codes? Is the factory amp under drivers seat? I bought the P300-10 and the Link 2 through Crutchfield.

I don't believe it will. I have this speaker in my Jeep and I also have a '16 Tacoma. You want to look for the P3S-1X10. The PS3-1X10 is 6.25" deep. The P300-10 has a depth of 9.75". Personally, I wouldn't try to fit this model, but I would go with the P3S-1x10.

Can you install a powered subwoofer to a 2019 RAV4 with JBL System, if so how?
zachary  Apr 30, 2020
1 answer
A
You can add a powered subwoofer like this one to the 2019 RAV4 with the JBL system even if its a hybrid (cannot exceed 30A or 350W power on new amp in the Hybrid). You could simply use the speaker level inputs on the new amp or get an active line output converter to help clear up the sound. We have advisors that can be reached by calling 1-800-324-9695 who can help you get all the parts needed to complete the install as well as technical support to help you through the install which comes free with the purchase of the gear

I installed this in the trunk of my 1956 Thunderbird. It takes up a third of the space of the trunk so it's not small by any means but if I need more trunk space I just unplug it and remove it. The bass that it provides in my small car is MORE than enough. You may consider a smaller speaker. Hope this helps.

Is this a 4 ohm sub? Amp stopped working and I want to bypass w another amp. Need to know if it's a 4 or 8 ohm sub
adam  Dec 04, 2019

Rockford Fosgate does not provide the specs of the internal amp and impedance of the sub. You can try contacting them at 800-669-9899 to see if they are able to provide that information.

A
Car speakers are almost always 4 ohm and house speakers are 8 ohms.

Don't know see manual
ernest  Dec 30, 2019
A
I don't know for sure, but guessing it's a dual voice coil 2 ohm subwoofer to maximize the power output on the small amp that is built into the unit. I placed this into my son's car trunk a few years ago. So far, so good. No issues with it at all. Major thump for the price.

Q
Is this subwoofer pretty loud? And is it loud enough for me to still feel the bass if I have an Xterra?
colby  Aug 16, 2019
2 answers
A
Loud is subjective, but yes it gets loud. I have a Borla exhaust on my car so I have to turn the sub up pretty high to feel the bass. Overall a pretty decent sub for the money.
william  Aug 17, 2019
A
I does well for me but I have it sitting in the back seat of a 2 door car. I don't know about "feeling the bass" in an xterra

Q
Do I need to connect the remote turn on wire that comes with the sub or can I just use the audio and DC switch settings for sub turn on?
bryan  Mar 21, 2019

A
It needs the audio turn on wire like normal. It's jist an amp built into the box. It really sounds good.

Q
Will this fit under the rear seat of 2016 F-150 Supercrew?
david  Jan 28, 2019
2 answers
A
i dont believe so because of the seat mounts would not provide enough space and this speaker has all the components (self driven) in it it would not do well being laid flat. it has enough boom to be secured in the upright position in the back seats and sound great but under laying flat probably not a good idea.
craig  Jan 29, 2019

Wish I could tell you, but if it does you will not be disappointed. The bass volume knob really helps control this beast.

Q
Has anyone tried to put one in the underfloor cargo space in '06-'12 rav4?
matthew  Oct 30, 2018
1 answer
A
We have measurements of that cargo space which shows it has a 8" depth (18" tall and 335" wide) but this powered subwoofer needs 9.75" of depth at its most deepest part. I don't expect it will fit. We have other powered subwoofers that can fit the cargo area. I recommend calling an advisor on 1-800-324-9695 to get a personal recommendation on one that can fit and meets your goals. Yes it will. It fits in my 2012 Camaro trunk with room to spare
devin  Jul 04, 2018
A
I installed this in my 2016 Honda Accord sedan. It fits great and barely takes much room at all. This will absolutely fit in your mustarg because the amp is internal, meaning that if you are worried about it standing upright, then you can just sit it flat instead. Bought this sub and never looked back.

Q
I'm buying this subwoofer but i'm not sure on wich one to go for the 10 inch or 12 inch can someone tell me the differences on the 10 or 12 and what size would you recomend?

It depends on how loud you want to be for example I had a 95 S-10 extended cab and I purchased the 10 and it pleased me it packed a nice punch however if you want to go loud I suggest the 12 I hope this helps.

A
Sooty-I returned this item and did something differs.
cary  Jun 25, 2018
A
It all boils down to room and desired effect. I for one have it installed in a Mercedes C300. That limited me to only have the 10" one and Im very happy with its performance. I keep my sub volume control at about 1/3 and it sounds perfect. They are very efficient, deliver great bass, are well constucted and looks great with a clean install. Just the fact you are looking at this particular powered sub I know you would be happy either way.

I have a 2018 Chevy Cruze with the 6 speaker configuration. What do I need to do to install this to the factory reciever?
benwill7  Jun 24, 2018

You should most likely splice into the factory speakers that are located in the rear. That's what I had to do on my vehicle, because replacing the head unti wasn't an option.

Will this sub fit in a 1994 f150 regular cab?

The Rockford Punch P300-10 measures 18-11/16"W x 13-3/8"H x 9-3/4"D1 x 6-1/8"D2 making it difficult to fit in a regular cab truck. For more details or to discuss further, please contact an Advisor directly by phone (888.955.6000) or online chat. Thanks!

Q
I have a newer car with a touchscreen. Could I install this box without messing with the factory system?
bigdb  Apr 07, 2018
3 answers
A
Yes. You will have to tap into the speaker wires to get the signal what I used was wire taps that clamp to the wire without cutting anything and running a power cable to power it and ground it properly the speaker has a feature that when it sends the signal it will remotely turn it on
humberto  Apr 07, 2018
A
You need to provide more information. If your factory-installed system has a subwoofer connection then you will not need to replace it. However you will still need to install the subwoofer somewhere (usually the trunk) and run the power and signal cables back there. You will likely need to remove the factory system or at least some paneling around it to connect the subwoofer audio cable to it and also to run the cable out of sight. I would search online for "(make, model, year of vehicle) installing subwoofer factory system" to see results specific to your situation. Crutchfield phone support is also very helpful.
matt  Apr 07, 2018
A
Yes, it can be hooked to just the speaker wire. Probably not the same performance as direct imput but definitely better than stockEnter

Q
If I already have a Subaru factory sub and would like to swap it out with this one, will I have to change the wiring much?
samuel  Feb 12, 2018
1 answer
A
You will need to run a new power wire for the amp in this powered subwoofer. But you might be able to reuse some of the stock wiring that fed signal to the stock subwoofer to get the audio to send to the amp in this powered subwoofer. I recommend calling an advisor on 1-800-324-9695 for a personal recommendation on the gear you need My Bio: http://www.crutchfield.com/Support/Bio.aspx?bio=101

Will this work with a non JBL 2010 Tundra stock everything?
teddy  Feb 19, 2017
1 answer
A
It seems like it would, there are speaker level inputs you could tap into the rear speaker leads to get the signal, adjust the fader and tone controls and crossover on the sun and dial in a nice balance. Replacing the front speakers with some nice aftermarkets would probably make that a really nice sounding system. Of course another small amp on those would be even better..

Q
So I'm thinking of going with a P300-10 because I don't think I can fit a P300-12 under the seat. And I'm considering going with 2 units. Because I can fit them side by side I know sub frequencies aren't directional but I still like knowing I've got a left and right channel when I go with 2 subs. Is there a way to wire a powered sub like there as one being only a right channel and a second as only a left channel?
victor  Feb 04, 2017
1 answer
A
Grab one of the performance audio battery's from Crutchfield. Mount it somewhere easily accessible within 3 feet yet hidden if it matters to you (you'll want the wiring to be hidden by trim or floor lining). Grab 2 of the wiring kits which are like 50 each but they come with almost everything you need for each sub and directions on how to put everything together easily. You may need a radio receiver with 2 sub rca inputs. Not really experienced but went off of myour basic knowledge

No this is a self powered subwoofer there are no speaker outputs. You will need a separate power amp or run your speakers off the head unit.

Q
Will this sub fit under the backseat of a 2013 f150 crew cab?
chris  Aug 28, 2016
1 answer
A
No. We only found 6" of clearance under the rear seats of the 2013 Ford SuperCrew cab and the dimensions of the Rockford Fosgate P300-10 are: 18-11/16"W x 13-3/8"H x 9-3/4"D1 x 6-1/8"D2 So, even if you laid it flat on it's back, you would need about 10" of clearance under the seat for it to fit. You may want to consider their compact powered model instead: http://www.crutchfield.com/p_575PS8/item.html It's only 3 3/8" thick and should fit under most factory seats as a result. I hope that helps! My Bio: http://www.crutchfield.com/Support/Bio.aspx?bio=5

I am currently running an old Eclipse 55040 head unit and the sound that this produces is absolutely amazing! The highs are sparkling. The clarity and transparency of the mids are the best I've heard from any head unit. It's just the bass is a little lacking in my system. Is the bass that comes from this sub more of a booming bass? Or would you say it is more of a tight, punching bass?
dsw1204  Jan 24, 2015
2 answers
A
I would have to say it depends on how you set it. I like booming bass so I have it set on the lower side but when my friend helped me install them(I have two) he set them to a higher tight bass that I wasn't to fond of so I switched it
mark  Jan 27, 2015
A
This is a sealed enclosure, so the sound will tend to fall more on the tight and accurate side. It is a great way to add some low end punch into your system.

There is a little adapter for the RCA cables. On the Sub there is a four wire plug, the adapter plugs in there.

There's a converter they plug into that plugs into the speaker.

If you don't have RCA's on your head unit you'll need line convertiers. That will allow you to convert your +- spleaker wireto RCA conections. You should be able to tap into the rear speaker wire to get the signal to the sub woofer.
