Advanced engineering

The P3SD2-10 shallow-mount 10" sub hangs with its bigger brethren, thanks to advanced materials and engineering. Rockford uses an anodized aluminum cone and dust cap that makes the woofer light and easier to drive, yet rigid enough to maintain its shape when you turn it up loud. The M-Roll Santoprene™ surround also provides excellent excursion for maximum output while being durable enough to last.

Powerful bass for a tight space

A low-profile frame houses the sub, with abundant venting to battle overheating and thermal breakdown. At 3-9/16 inches deep, this sub will fit into places where no bass has gone before — just build a custom enclosure or find a suitable box. The dual 2-ohm voice coils allow you to wire up multiple subs or to coax optimum performance from your amplifier.

Enclosure Compatibility

Features

Shallow Mount Design: The Rockford Fosgate Punch P3SD2-10 Shallow Subwoofer is designed and engineered with a more shallow motor assembly which reduces the overall depth of the woofer, allowing it to fit in smaller locations in your vehicle. The P3SD2-10 used an anodized aluminum cone and Santoprene surround. An anodized aluminum voice coil former and spider venting help keep the subwoofer cool.

Dual Voice Coils: This woofer features dual 2-ohm voice coils for wiring flexibility. When the voice coils are wired in parallel, the woofer presents a 1-ohm load. When the voice coils are wired in series, the woofer presents a 4-ohm load.

CEA-2031 Compliant: Power handling on the P3SD2-10 subwoofer conforms to CEA-2031 industry standards. This means the subwoofer has the capacity to handle power under continuous demand, not instantaneous power handling, that over time, can damage voice coils.

FlexFit Basket: The Flex Fit frame utilizes slots (where possible) instead of single screw sized holes; allowing slight adjustment of the speaker when mounted.

VAST Surround: The Vertical Attach Surround Technique (VAST) increases a speaker's effective radiating cone area without increasing the size of the basket.

Anodized Aluminum Voice Coil Former: Aluminum voice coil formers offer superior heat dissipation over other commonly used materials. The hard-anodized finish increases the former strength. These two factors combine to improve the overall power handling characteristics of the subwoofer.

Spring Post Assemblies: The woofer features custom insulated/isolated compression input terminals with attached flexible, 16-gauge stitched tinsel lead wires that can withstand extreme duty cycles, fatigue and high current. The heavy-duty spring posts will accept pin connectors, single banana plugs, and bare wire up to 10-gauge.

Trim Ring: For added cosmetic appeal the woofer comes with an aluminum trim ring that mounts over the flange of the woofer. When using the trim ring, the woofer is first mounted with four screws, then the ring is mounted over the woofer, aligning the final four holes of the woofer with ring. The other four screws are used in these holes to mount the ring and woofer to the enclosure. The trim ring increases the top-mounting height of the woofer to 1.0 inch and the ring diameter is 11.3 inches.

Break-In Period: Due to the design of the Rockford Fosgate P3 Shallow subwoofer, a 24 to 48 hour break-in period is required to allow for maximum excursion and low frequency extension. The shallow woofer suspension is intentionally designed to optimize once the internal components are exercised under normal music listening conditions.

Enclosure Compatibility

Sealed Box Volume: The sealed box size range recommended by Rockford Fosgate is 0.40 to 1.0 cubic feet. Within this range, the ideal recommended size is 0.5 cubic feet, resulting in a 3dB down point of 46.9 Hz and a Qtc of 0.90.

Vented Box Volume: The vented box size recommended by Rockford Fosgate is 1.0 cubic feet. One 4" diameter x 12" long port should be used, resulting in a tuning frequency of 47.5 Hz and a 3dB down point of 36 Hz.

Q
I am looking to put 2 of these behind the seat of my 4 door dually and what size amp would push these with no issues? I want to stay with a RF amp.

A
The best Rockford amplifier for powering two of these subs would be the P1000X1bd, which will provide 600 watts RMS (300 per sub) when presented with a 2-ohm impedance.

Q
I purchased this p3sd2-10 in December of last year expecting it to be awesome but am disappointed, after reading a lot of reviews a lot of people say it hits hard and is a good sub. I just cant get mine to hit hard at all it almost sounds like factory speakers. I have a infinity kappa k600 that I purchased on Christmas day, I figured this amp would be a good match for the sub but apparently not. I am new to this stuff so maybe I just hooked it up wrong. I have it wired at 4 ohms in a box with .54 cuft. So my question is. Is the amp not good enough? Or is the box not the right size? Do I need to get another sub so I can get the sound I want? I have a p300-10 in my wifes car and that thing is awesome so I was expecting this sub to be just as good but clearly is not. Any feedback will be very helpful. Thank you.

I have the same sub and it works wonders for me. I did make a custom box to maximize the space in my car, and to get optimum bass.. I would recommend changing your box to a ported box first if its not. If it is ported pick up the Cubic feet to 1.0 Cft. Be sure to also include the Magnet displacement space when making the box if you havent.. some times people forget to factor it in when building boxes . Your Amp should be mote then enough to handle that sub so i dont think its the amp at all.. Also the sub could just be facotry defected.. it happens and nothing is ever perfect so it could be that simple.. Hope it helps

I've only installed this once in a build for my son's Jetta. That car had a really small cabin and I paired the sub with a custom enclosure and dedicated 300W amp. In that build, it sounds really good. You might try gain adjustments to tube your sound. However be cautious. If you do this by ear instead of with measuring gear, I recommend making VERY small adjustments with a lot of listening in between new changes. Good luck!

Nathan, Your amp is plenty but the reason they are not hitting hard is because they are wired in 4 ohm. Your amp will handle a 2 ohm load and that's what these speakers want but you also have to make sure they are wired right. I wired mine according to Crutchfield's diagram for 2 ohm dvc subs on a 2 ohm amp load. I have an alpine 500 x 1 @ 2 ohms and they pound hard. I would provide the link to the diagram but I'm not able to. Just google "how to wire dvc subs" and the crutchfield diagram will come up. Hope this helps!

Will this fit in a 2004 Honda Pilot ?

I fit 2 behind the backseat of my 2006 Silverado crew cab. These shallow mount subs are great for tight spaces. Just find a box that fits the sub, and do some measuring to see if it'll fit wherever you're trying to put it in your Pilot.

It can fit in any car that has a large enough cavity with a custom built enclosure. Use the website. Select My car... hit go. If it says it fits... it fits in the existing locations with no or minor modifications.... I have a 2006 GTO. I removed the rear interior panels. Built custom enclosures for these speakers in those holes in the interior body of the car and behind the panels. So far, so good. 400w amp driving two of these. My lows are fantastic. But they're only a part of the big picture.

Yes! I have a 2014 silverado crew cab and I had two of these mounted below the back seat without any obstruction.

Q
Do you need to install trim ring?
david  Apr 03, 2016

A
He answer is NO. you don't HAVE to install the trim ring, however, I would because it locks/fits in a particular arrangement that actually allows the subwoofer to be more evenly sealed onto the sirface..I'm not sure if you would notice a difference in the sound or not but I personally like that appearance and functionality of the trim ring. Hope this helps!
