About the Rockford Fosgate Punch P500X4D
Heat is the enemy of all amplifiers — sucking power away from your music and damaging internal components over time. Rockford Fosgate came up with some clever innovations that lower the heat generated in these Class D Punch amplifiers, improving efficiency and reducing their size so they can fit in almost any vehicle.
Punch performance
The 4-channel Punch P500X4D amplifier sends 75 watts RMS to each of your front and rear speakers, giving you the crystal-clear power you need to hear the full impact of your music. You can also put the amp into 2-channel mode to drive a couple of subs with 250 watts RMS each. Separate front and rear frequency filters give you razor-sharp control over your speakers' clarity, while the onboard Punch EQ bass boost allows you to reinforce your music's low end when you're using a sub.
Small and cool
This versatile amp utilizes full-range Class D amp technology, drawing much less current from your car's electrical system than traditional amps, and generating tons of power from a remarkably compact chassis. Rockford Fosgate builds this amp using precision components assembled by high-speed, super-accurate robots this Discrete Surface Mount system results in less interference between parts, lower operating temperature, and increased life for the amplifier. An amplifier that's built to last, packed with power, and fits almost anywhere — what more could you want for your music?

Features
Overview: The Rockford Fosgate P500X4D is a 4x75-watt, Class-D, full-range, 4-channel amplifier. Class-D amplifiers are very efficient, which reduces current consumption from the vehicle's charging system.
Cast Aluminum Heatsink: The cast aluminum heatsink dissipates heat generated by the amplifier's circuitry. The inherent advantage of casting provides a 30% improvement of cooling over conventional extrusion heatsink designs.
DSM (Discrete Surface Mount): In the manufacturing process high speed robotics are used to place 1% tolerance parts and large board traces. DSM improves the efficiency of the circuit, decreases cross-talk from other discrete components and lowers operating temperature.
Power and Protection LEDs: Power and Protection LEDs are located on top of the amplifier. The Power LED glows red when the amplifier is turned on. The Protect LED illuminates yellow if a short circuit or too low an impedance is detected at the speaker connections. When any of the protection circuits engage, the amp automatically shuts down until the problem is corrected.
Controls
Control Panel: The P500X4D has top-mounted controls, covered by a removable panel. There are independent controls for the front and rear channels, and include the following:
- Internal Crossovers: Each crossover can be set for high-pass, low-pass, or all-pass (full range) operation by a 3-way switch. The cut-off frequency is continuously variable from 50Hz to 500Hz, and has a slope of 12dB per octave.
- Punch EQ: The Punch EQ can supplement low frequencies to give your music more impact and presence. The Punch EQ becomes active only when the crossover switch is set to low-pass, providing a bass boost of 0-18 dB at 45 Hz.
- Gain: You can match the output of the connected source unit using the rotary gain control. The gain control can be set between 0 and 11.
2/4 CH Switch: On the front of the amplifier, you can switch the inputs to a 2-channel or 4-channel mode. When using only one pair of inputs, you can feed all 4 output channels by pressing in the 2/4 CH switch.
Connections
Power Connections: The power and ground terminals are nickel-plated set-screw wire connectors and will accommodate up to 4-gauge wire. An external 60-amp fuse (not included) must be installed on the power wire within 18 inches of the battery. If a wiring kit is used which includes a fuse with a value other than 60-amps, the original should be replaced with a 60-amp fuse. The remote turn-on terminal will accept wire sizes of up to 12 AWG. The supplied 2 mm and 4mm hex keys is required to tighten/loosen the terminals.
Differential Input: Differential input circuitry measures the voltage of both the positive (+) and negative (-) portions of the input signal, subtracting the voltage common to both conductors (noise), resulting in a cleaner signal. Reducing the noise on the input then improves the sound quality of the output.
Speaker Connections: The 4-channel nickel-plated set-screw wire connectors will accept up to 8-gauge wire. The supplied 2mm hex key is required to tighten/loosen the terminals.

Great amp! Had it installed for over a month pushing 2 12's and 2 6x9's and it gives my 12's that punch it needs for a good bass.
