Enclosed Subwoofers 101

An enclosed subwoofer is a box with a subwoofer already installed. The advantage to buying an enclosed sub is that the manufacturer made the sub, then designed and built the box as a perfect match, so you'll get the best possible performance. Every enclosed sub has a maximum RMS power handling rating, so pair it with an amp with a similar RMS power rating to get the best performance.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Just put this box in my 03 Accord EX V6 with a RF 450.2 amp and a Kenwwood head and it hits very hard and very clean. The bass is deep and kept up with all types of music. The Hip-Hop and the Rock sounded great, but the Techno really bangs. Luckily there not much rattling on a newer vehicle. If your car can handle it, get this box.

reallly loud.... powered with a p450.2 amp and shook my whole car (honda crv)... this was with the bass half turned too

oh and some lady 3 houses up from my friends ran outside to see what was "making her dishes rattle in her kitchen"

so yea... these are really loud, first day too so im only guessing they'll get better as they break in

Quality, but a little missing

These things are definitely loud. I had them in my VW Jetta and they definitely did the job. They are very good with techno and most crisp hip hop beats, but they struggled and would get a slurred sound with more complex beats. They defintely hit hard, but with some rhythms they just struggled. Overall, I was happy with them. Could be a little bit better though.

I got these subs for my honda civic with a RF T5001-bd single mono amplifier with a 5.0 Fared Tsunami Capacitor and it hits very good only thing i didnt like is i had to get some dynomat for my whole trunk cause it was hitting so hard it was rattling my aftermarket taillights and stuff but that was only when i tried to turn it up to full blast lol but other then that it's a nice touch if you want something good these with that setup might be the way to go :)

Product Research

Punch Stage 2 Woofer: The enclosure houses two 12" single voice coil, 8 ohm woofers. The speakers are a parabolic injection molded polypropylene cone-type woofer with a foam surround. The woofers feature a 2" voice coil, steel basket, 60 ounce magnet and a linear spider.

Solid MDF Construction: The enclosure is constructed of high quality 5/8" MDF (medium-density fiberboard), which resists flexing and has anti-resonant qualities.

Vented Enclosure: The vented enclosure is aided by precision construction through computer design. The enclosure consists of two front-firing 12" single voice coil woofers with dual tuned front ports. The box has an internal volume of 2.70 cubic feet.

Tuned Ports: The enclosure uses two proprietary high-flow, low-noise ports to help produce deep and loud bass efficiently. The ports are side by side on the front of the box and located in between the two mounted woofers.

Box Carpeting: The enclosure is finished with high-density carpeting for superior durability. The top, bottom, front and back of the box are covered in black carpet. The sides of the box have a black plastic end-cap with the Rockford Logo cut-out inside of it.

Speaker Terminals: The subwoofer enclosure uses two sets of 4 AWG binding posts to connect your amplifier to the speaker box. The binding posts are located on the left side of the box (as you face the front of the box).

Wiring Configurations: The two sets of speaker terminals allow you to wire the box in the following configurations:

  • 4-ohm Mono: You can wire the two terminals in parallel to a single amplifier channel to obtain a 4-ohm monaural load. Many amplifiers allow you to bridge two channels to a single 4-ohm load.
  • 8-ohm Stereo: You can wire each of the two terminals directly to two individual amplifier channels for an 8-ohm stereo load.
  • 16-ohm Mono: You can wire the two terminals in a series configuration to a single amplifier channel to obtain a 16-ohm monaural load.

Power Handling: Combined, the subwoofers can handle up to 400 watts RMS power and 800 watts peak power.
