Enclosed Subwoofers 101

An enclosed subwoofer is a box with a subwoofer already installed. The advantage to buying an enclosed sub is that the manufacturer made the sub, then designed and built the box as a perfect match, so you'll get the best possible performance. Every enclosed sub has a maximum RMS power handling rating, so pair it with an amp with a similar RMS power rating to get the best performance.

Put in my Saturn ion and fills the entire car with great sounding bass. I paired it with the Jbl gx-a3001 amp.

Bumps pretty good for a single twelve.

I bought this subwoofer to add to my 2013 Scion Frs' audio system that was lacking in the bass department. This was the perfect thing for my needs, it doesn't overpower the speakers but adds the rich bass I was used to. It is fairly priced and will definitely get loud if you set it up right. It vibrates everything in the car but you can barely hear it on the outside which is good because I'm not trying to tick off my neighbors. (Exhaust does that quite well already :P) only bad thing is when I measured I didn't think about how the sides of the trunk slope downward so it only fits in the middle. But I didn't use it anyway so no real loss there.

Pros: Sounds great inside car, fair price, excellent quality.

Cons: Has to be in the middle but that was my error so I do not have any cons!

The subwoofer is awesome, it hits good and I got a great deal. I got it quick and I'm very happy with Crutchfrields's customer support, I didn't know I had to give them my number to confirm my order and an actual person called me and let me know so I wouldn't lose the product. They could of just never called me and I never would of gotten the product. I'm so thankful for that and it makes me want to come back to crutchfield again for future electronic purchases.

Pros: The sub came in great packaging, it was easy to setup, and I had it bumpin in minutes. Crutchfield delivered it quick and was very helpful in the process. Crutchfield says it's the

Cons: The only con is now I want to buy more stuff for my speaker system because my music sounds so good and that's a plus depending on how you look at it, but it's most definitely a con for my checkbook haha.

You only need one.

I have always been skeptical about just having one sub, not anymore. 150 watt amp with this sub is plenty, I find myself turning my sub level output from my receiver down so I don't drowned out the rest of my system with bass. This sub hits hard and the clean bass cords are clean and sound good. If your into subsonic lows it will numb your body and wiggle your brain.

Pros: High quality, looks cool, simply to use.

Cons: I think they could of spared a grill.

Customer Q&A

2 questions already asked

Thanks for your question. For information on selecting the best amp for your subs I would recommend reaching out to an Advisor by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat. They will be able to help determine the differences between the amp models and help you make the best choice for your system. [ Krissy  Sep 28, 2015 ]  Staff
I forwarded your question to an Advisor and they responded with the following: While the size of the speaker doesn't come into play in this scenario the impedance and power handling does. Your second speaker will need to be at 4-ohm impedance (assuming you have a mono amp that is stable at 2-ohms) and it would be best to match the power handling to the Rockford. In this instance you would be running 300 watts to a system that could handle 400 RMS. That just about fits into our recommended minimum. If you would like to discuss further you can contact an Advisor directly by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat. [ Krissy  Jun 29, 2015 ]  Staff
