Features

Enclosure: The Rockford Fosgate Prime R1-1X12 features a sealed enclosure constructed of 5/8" MDF (Medium Density Fiberboard). The enclosure is covered with high density black carpeting. The sealed enclosure features high current compression terminals on the left side of the box (when facing the woofer). The enclosure's terminals will accommodate up to 12 AWG speaker wire. The enclosure's speaker terminals present a 4-ohm load to your amplifier.

Dimensions:

  • Width: 17-3/4"
  • Height: 14-3/8"
  • Depth (base): 12-1/2" (13-1/4" including the subwoofer)
  • Depth (top): 7-1/4" (8" including the subwoofer)

Woofer: The R1-1X12 enclosure is loaded with a single Rockford Fosgate Prime R1S4-12 subwoofer. The R1S4-12 is a 12-inch, 4-ohm single voice coil subwoofer with a fiber reinforced painted paper-pulp cone and compressed foam surround.

CEA-2031 Compliant: Power handling on the Rockford Fosgate Prime R1S4-12 subwoofer conforms to CEA-2031 industry standards. This means the subwoofer has the capacity to handle its rated power under continuous demand, not instantaneous power handling, that over time, can damage voice coils.

It's going to be raining on my delivery day. Was your whole sub/enclosure wrapped tightly in waterproof plastic inside the box? Obviously I'll try to get outside to the package quick, but I was curious. Thanks!

A
My sub was not enclosed. It is packed tightly inside the box with Styrofoam on the corners but I'm pretty sure there is something over it, it should be fine..

Q
Which amp would best pair with this?

Thanks for your question. For information on selecting the best amp for your subs I would recommend reaching out to an Advisor by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat. They will be able to help determine the differences between the amp models and help you make the best choice for your system.

Q
Could you run the fosgate 12 and another 8 off from one 300w amp?
blake9250  Jun 26, 2015
1 answer
A
I forwarded your question to an Advisor and they responded with the following: While the size of the speaker doesn't come into play in this scenario the impedance and power handling does. Your second speaker will need to be at 4-ohm impedance (assuming you have a mono amp that is stable at 2-ohms) and it would be best to match the power handling to the Rockford. In this instance you would be running 300 watts to a system that could handle 400 RMS. That just about fits into our recommended minimum. If you would like to discuss further you can contact an Advisor directly by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat.
