My system has plenty of power. Who needs an amp?

You might think you don't need an amp because you have a 400-watt system in your car, or because your new stereo puts out 50 watts a channel. But those are peak wattage ratings, which may boil down to 15 or 20 watts per channel, using the more realistic RMS rating. An amp sends your speakers the power they need to deliver your music with clarity and impact, whether you're using factory speakers or high-performance components. And low-frequency reproduction requires lots of power, so an amp is an absolute must if you're adding a sub to your system.

Written By Christopher, Maple Valley, WA on Sunday, June 01, 2014

I have a 2011 Jetta 2.5 SE I installed this amp with a Rockford Fosgate 12" Sub to the stock head unit and speakers. It made for a great addition to my car!

Pros: Nice bass and nothing looks better then a matching Rockford Fosgate amp and sub

Cons: No enough lights on the amp

Great 300 watt amp that is bridgeable. It has the different modes such as high pass, low pass and all pass allowing you to do different things with it. Also the is an adjustable gain and cut off frequency that allows you to tune your sub woofer just how you like it. The first one i got did not work, however crutchfield rush me a second one and it worked perfectly. Also there is a punch bass dial which allows the gain to be turned up extra at the 85HZ mark allowing that hard hitting bass frequency come out even more.

Best amp since the old RF Punch amps

Written By Evil, Midland, MI on Wednesday, November 17, 2010

I picked this amp up and it has enough power to drive 2 10" rockfords loudly, and without distortion. I would have payed double for this amp after hearing it, I have been competing in car audio since the early 90's and bang for your buck to sound good and loud without getting tickets this amp is by far one of the best I have owned.

Way too much powe for my setup!

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This amp is a great way to have your subs moving some air. I only have 1 10inch
sealed box so no need for me to put up the gain all the way up. I have it half
away and it does it's job. Not as fancy looking as some of the better RF amps
but the subtle black fitting underneath my driver's side door makes it look
almost factory. Haven't found anything wrong with it. Great amp!

Nice amp and versatile

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I bought this bad boy over a year ago to power up my 12" Infintiy sub. This amp does the
job without the gain even turned up past halfway. It provides enough power and never
runs hot.

I am now going to use it to power up some 6X9's in the near future and then a couple of
8" subs later. I am glad I bought it.

Great Amp!!

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I have this amp paired with a rockford 10" p1 sub and it has tons of power. The
paper in the box said it was rated at 181 watts rms! Awesome! The connectors
were in logical places. I have it connected to a Sony head unit with a sub out
so i left the filter on the amp on all pass for better control on the go from
the head unit. My sub sounds great with this amp powering it!! Thanks again

Simply Amazing

Written By Alex, Ft. Worth, Texas on Sunday, November 01, 2009

I have this running 75 watts to my Infinity Kappa 6x9's in my 1997 accord, and wow, it's amazing. The quality is amazing, the increase of bass is outstanding, and this amp doesn't seem to overheat at all. I've never wired an amp before, and this is dirt easy to do. The only complaint, is well my fault. I wish my head unit had 2 pre-amp outputs insted of one so I could get the 4ch rockford insted. But, for the price, you can't go wrong. This amp is A+

Got this wired into my Astro Van. Placed it under the front seat after removing the silly drawer there. I'll miss the storage, but the sound benies are well worth it. This amp rocks for the price. Coupled with the recommended cabling kit and installation was fairly painless. Highly recommended.

I bought this amp to power a pair of infinity speakers. It provides good clean, distortion free sound. So far I have used it only a couple of days, but I am satisfied with the sound, price and build quality

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I bought this amp to run one 8 inch rockford fosgate subwoofer, 150 watts at 4 four ohms, bridged. It sounds amazing! I couldn't have asked for anything better. It was the way to go at this price over a class D amp putting out the same power for $150 and

Great power, great amp, period!

Nice amp ... good tweaking

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I have this amp connected to the subwoofer output of a Dual XHD7714 head unit, powering an MTX 4510 10" sub in a slim SubZero box, in the back of a 1992 Toyota Shortbed Pickup truck.

This is an excellent amp with good crossover, level and "punch" controls. It provides plenty of power for my single 10" MTX sub. As with most Rockford products, the amp is a work of art. It's beautifully designed, with all connections in logical places. It's small enough to fit in some tight spaces. It does not seem to run hot at all.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I paired this amp with a single, 10" Rockford Fosgate Prime R1S410 sub woofer in a sealed box and it works great. The amp provides adequate power to the sub and is fairly small which makes it easy to mount.

The only con in my opinion is the screws where you connect the wires (power, ground, remote, and speakers). I've had RF amps where you can stick the wires in directly without having to use wire connectors (specifically for the thick battery/ground wires).

I would recommend this amp to all low budget enthusiasts.

Great little amp!

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Got a new RF Prime R150-2 to replace a Pioneer 760 watt (max...380 RMS) amp that finally died on me. I'm using it to drive a single 12" Sony sub in a sealed box. The Rockford amp is rated at 150 watts RMS @ 4 ohms, but the sheet that came in the box shows that mine actually puts out 175 watts! Way to go Rockford! Installation took me a whole 5 minutes as all the wiring was already in place from the last amp. My budget for the replacement amp was around 120 bucks delivered, so this fit the bill perfectly. Also, I'm not out to blow my eardrums, just want a good sound in my car without having to upgrade my electrical system.

Now, compared to my old amp it sounds a lot fuller and has more bump even tho on paper it puts out 200 less watts. Really tight lows. Quality over quantity. Very clean power and quiet. No turn on thumps, speaker hiss or hum. Subwoofer output is more than enough for what I need. My rear view mirror dances around nicely when turned up. The punch boost adds good low end thump, tho this series of amps do not have the remote knob so you can't adjust it on the go.

Once I get around to upgrading the rest of my car, I'll probably get the Prime 500 watt mono for the sub and get another one more of these to drive the front and back speakers.

Great AMP for the $$$

Written By William, Cincinnati,Ohio on Sunday, April 19, 2009

The amp was a breeze to install, and it provides very clean distortion free power to my pair of 10 inch Pioneer subs. You really can't go wrong with any Rockford Fosgate product.

CEA 2006 Compliant: The Rockford Fosgate R150-2 Prime's power ratings are measured according to the strict standards dictated by the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA). These standards allow you to accurately compare the rated power output of all CEA 2006-compliant amplifiers, even if they come from different brands. Manufacturers who adhere to the standards can display the CEA 2006 logo on their products and packaging.
