Better components give you better detail

The Prime R165-S 6-1/2" component speaker system sports stiff mica-injected 6-1/2" polypropylene woofers that deliver strong drums and bass, along with clean reproduction of the midrange frequencies. The separate Mylar tweeters add the excitement of strong high-frequency response to your music without a trace of harshness. Built-in crossover networks divide the frequencies going to each driver, so all your music plays faithfully. Grilles are included.

Installation note: You'll need a pair of our universal backstraps to install the tweeters in the factory locations.

These were the best speakers that fit my car. The sound great. Wish these.would have fit the rear door too.

First off the speakers sound great. Hit the highs and midst very well.nice little punch to them. I'm running them off my Kenwood head unit at 22 watts and they sound pretty good. Very pleased with them so far but, I am disappointed with Crutchfield. First they said I would need to buy the mounting brackets for these speakers. That is not the case they drop right in with no problems. Of course I didn't no this until I had already drilled out the rivets of the factory mount. Second the speaker wire adapters were useless. They sent the male end the connection when really you need the female end to be able to use these. I ended up just cutting the end off and making it work. Could have been much easier with the right products or information..

Pros: Good speakers. Nice punch with just a head units 22 watts

Cons: None on speakers

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

These are great speakers for their price, providing good clear sound just from the power output from my Pioneer AVH headunit. Some reviews have complained that they "lack bass" and, while they do lack a little bit, their clarity more than makes up for that; they can play much louder and clearer than my stock speakers could (provided I watch my eq settings) and actually play louder at a lower volume setting. I have since added on a cheap powered 10" subwoofer to round things out (a certain brand available at a large discount store....didn't want to spend much on a car I'll be selling in under a year) and it is now near to perfect. With the sub filling the low frequencies and the RF comps up front with RF 2-ways in the rear high-passed properly, I get what I wanted which is good sound quality and a small amount of bump for not too much money for all four speakers and the powered sub. Granted, I'm not driving around trying to rattle the doors of everyone around me, I'm just trying to play it at a level that is enjoyable to me for the hour+ I spend driving in the car to and from work daily. I'm way past the "super loud and rattle my kidneys" stage of car audio, and music in a car that loud is just dumb and dangerous.

Pros: Clarity of sound, power efficiency

Cons:

A Great Upgrade from Stock Speakers

Written by: Dohnuts from Truckee, CA on June 23, 2016

2004 Chevrolet Astro
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I found these easy to install and a huge improvement over my stock speakers. I've turned up the volume louder than I would ever be able to continuously listen and they still sound clean. I didn't need the mounting brackets that were supplied for the woofer/midrange. They fit the factory holes. The supplied adapters for the factory wiring made connecting them a breeze. For the tweeter I just used a little hot glue to make sure it stayed in place in the factory location and connected the wiring to the woofer instead of the factory wiring that was previously connected to the old tweeter. The price was reasonable for great sounding speakers.

Pros: Easy install, Great Sound, Fair Price

Best component value to replace stock

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Bought these to replace 14 year old stock Pioneers. Was quite surprised regarding the physical appearance of the old speakers, but with the new ones installed, there is a perceptible improvement of range and clarity. Nothing negative to report other than I wish they could be ordered without the grill, as it is a waste to just toss them.

Pros: Best value components to replace stock.

Cons: As many have reviewed, the bass is lacking right out of the box.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Met every requirement I was after. The component set fit with no issue or adapters, making this purchase that much better. Secondly, the component set was lower in price than other products in its class. Further, the sound was excellent for the product, exceeding expectation. Lastly, this set is simplified with no crossover leaving less items to deal with or sort out when doing a professional style installation - the tweeter has a high pass filter built in and the kids utilize great frequency response and cutoff. Definitely recommend this component set if you're in the market.

Pros: Simple two piece set with no crossover Price Quality of sound for price

I needed to upgrade from my infinity system in my Jeep and these speakers make a huge difference. The sound is clean and loud which is what I need when the top and doors are off. It took some trimming of the tweeter pods to make the fit but is was easy and worth the effort.

Pros: Clear, clean sound

Cons: Minor effort to fit.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Easy to install. I would have given a 4 out of 5 star but one of the tweeters were wired wrong. Positive wire was soldered into negative and negative was soldered into positive. I couldn't figure out why one of the tweeters worked and one did not. I finally cut the wires and switched the connection around. Overall sound quality is decent. Not great, but good. My stock speakers sounded better. I figure since I spent the money on these speakers and installed it, I didn't want to deal with the hassle of taking it out and shipping it to return so I just kept it.

Pros: Easy install

Cons: Not worth the price. Sound quality is worst than my stock speakers. One of the tweeter's positive wire was soldered into negative and negative was soldered into positive. It took me a while to be able to determine the problem.

I needed these as part of a simple speaker replacement in my Frontier. I did not want to have to hide any additional crossovers, so these were perfect. They have performed way better than anticipated, the tweeters pick up exactly what I want and the woofers are quite responsive.

Pros: Compact alternative to a traditional component set, easier to place and wire

Cons: Tweeter is parasitic to the woofer, woofer still receives full range of what the tweeters do

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Great Speakers easy to install, comes with the Speaker Mounting bracket and wiring adapter. Gave them a 4 for a few reasons, 1. The tweeters could have easily also had a wiring adapter as well, The screws to mount the speaker to the adapter ring too long, caused me to slip and puncture the foam ring. I used smaller screws to mount the speakers after that. They Sound Great!

Pros: Easy to install with the provided kits

Cons: Tweeter has to be custom installed and no wiring kit. Screws to mount speaker in the adapter kit too long they only need to be 1/2" Max

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Sounds good but not for the price. Does not handle much power and provides "punchless" bass. The sound ordinance components ( which I also own) handle more power and sound way better and has surprisingly strong bass. I have a Rockford prime 300x4 amp that I use to power the front and rear door sound ordinance 6 1/2" components and tried the RF's on the amp to be fair. Final words, not worth the price. There are better speakers available for less money.

Pros: Good sound

Cons: Too expensive for low power rms and no bass.

2011 Toyota 4Runner
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Very impressed with these speakers especially for the price. I haven't personally tackled installing car audio equipment since my teenage years in the late 80s and early 90s. I was hesitant to buy these components at first because I didn't think you could good quality sound from speakers unless you spent a good chunk of change. I guess technology and good ole capitalism (USA! USA! USA!) have given us another great products at a great price. I simply replaced the stock speakers in my 2011 Toyota 4Runner with these in the front and another set of these in the back where I mounted the tweeter in the interior cover over the back lift gate. I also put a set of RF Prime R1525X2 in the two rear passenger doors. The bottom line is that the improvement in sound was very noticeable even with the stock head unit pushing these speakers. I installed them just before a long family road trip and we really enjoyed hearing some of favorites songs through these speakers. Much more detail, much more enjoyable. I have read differing opinions about how these speakers handle bass. I think it will greatly depend on how you tune your system and what your expectations are from these speakers. I didn't expect much bass from them, but was pleasantly surprised at how they handled bass. I don't expect them to excel at handling bass because of their size and design. They are not subs. I just finished a box for my Polk Audio DB1040DVC 10" sub. That's where I will focus my expectations about bass

Pros: Inexpensive, seem to be good quality, very good sound. I really appreciated the product knowledge and customer service that comes with dealing with Crutchfield.

Cons: None so far

Written by: Tyler W from Pennsylvania on November 11, 2015

I installed these speakers in my 2007 Hyundai Sonata, and along with the set of Kicker 40cs654's in the rear, they are an absolute dream to listen to. My speakers are powered by a 4 channel 70w RMS Sony amp, and even though the RF's are being overpowered quite substantially, they perform perfectly without any distortion with the high pass filter on and the gain set to about 2/3. These speakers do not distort whatsoever at these levels unless the volume is up further than 4/5 of the way. The mids and highs are astronomically great and I would absolutely suggest this same set up to anyone who has four 6.5" speakers in their vehicle. They performed amazingly even while they were being powered by the head unit only.

Pros: Crisp highs which are not too bright and mids which are just right. I cannot stress how well these perform for the price.

Cons: These speakers do not handle bass very well, and as such I would suggest running a high pass filter and pairing them with speakers that are better with lower frequencies, such as the Kickers mentioned above.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I installed these in my 2005 Sienna today. I recently installed a Kenwood BT312U deck to get the ability to use music from Apple Music. I was looking for crisp highs. I got them! They were installed in pace of the stock 6x9's in the door. Though my bass is now non existent I now have crisp, clear highs. I have never had a system that I had to turn down the highs...now I do. Next step will be a small, powered sub to fill in the low range. I didn't get vehicle specific installation instructions with them but I still had the PDF from the deck install that covered the whole van.

Pros: CRISP highs!!! descent mids.

Cons: Not a con for me but if you are looking for bass...these are not for you.

2010 Kia Rio 5
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Very nice set of speakers! Nicely constructed and well built, plenty of bass for what they are and made the wife very happy! I mounted these in a 2010 Kia Rio5, and would buy them again in a heartbeat for any other car.

Pros: Solid construction. Very good bass despite using a stock Kia radio. Overall much better by an order of magnitude compared to stock.

Cons: Tweeters, expect to turn down the treble when playing anything at a high volume, these will pierce your ears from the 'tingyness'. Mounting, while I didn't expect a perfect fit, I had to drill holes in the stock mount to fit them, annoying at best and be prepared for it! Also my particular Kia does NOT have components, they are coaxial, so in order to fit the tweeter you will need to cut a hole in your door (or mount them inside of it somehow).

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Upgraded factory speakers in front and rear doors for my 2013 Ford Escape with Sony Audio. Definitely better sound, but not knock your socks off better. More clarity from the tweeters. Bass is ok, but still not outstanding. With installation, the upgrade for two sets of speakers cost me about $400. I think it was worth it. Overall, I'm happy I did it as I listen to a lot of music in the car so want something that sounds better than average.

Pros: Good Value. Definite upgrade over the factory speakers.

Cons: High end is a bit bright. Bass could be more distinctive.

They sound great on the factory stereo I was going to purchase an amp to power them but I am glad I held off because after insstalling them I do not think they need any more power. 2001 Dodge Durango
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I bought 2 sets of RF Prime R165-S component speakers to replace the factory speakers that had blown in my 01 dodge durnago that I just bought. I read all the reviews on these and quite a few other speakers before making the purchase and i'm very pleased !! My Durango has the infinity upgrded system that comes with its own factory installed infinity amp, the system sounded pretty dam good had the speakers not been blown " lots of distortion and rattling at higher volumes" i probably would have let it be and just upgraded the head unit and threw in my amp and subs but i could barely turn the volume up to any kind of good level without the lovely sound of blown speakers so i decided to upgrade. These RF's sound good with the factory head and they are running through the factory amp but I know they will sound much better after i install my Kenwood-KDC-BT758HD that I will be ordering from Crutchfield very soon, tricky part will be by passing the factory amp from the new head unit to the new speakers because the factory amp won't do the speakers any justice with an after market head unit , I will also be ordering a 4 channel amp from Crutchfield to replace the factory amp at some point to bring it all together and just can't wait !! So to sum it all up " i know i rambled too much" the speakers are awesome the highs and lows are great, crisp and clear, just need some power behind them to get the full appreciation for them.

Pros: great sound for a great price they come in 3 days right on time.

Cons: installation was kind of a pain in the arss, the tweeters were pretty difficult to install into my Durango as there is no bracket per say to make them fit where the factory ones were, I had to cut out the small grill area for the RF's to fit into but in the end i like the clean after market look, the Woofers went into the doors quite easily with the exception that brackets sent to me by Crutchfield needed thier own modifications to fit , all in all not to bad and quick once i figured out tricks.

I thought the factory units sounded decent, these speakers take it to a stellar level. The brilliance gained in the higher frequencies are awesome. Speakers are incredibly efficient and work very well with the factory radio. Can't miss with these speakers...I relied on previous comments and hope this helps future buyers.

Pros: Great sound, increased brilliance and higher frequencies bring out a greater richness to music that factory units can't do. Installation was a breeze and followed the instructions provided was in in out in no time.

Cons: NONE! I am really happy with these speakers.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

These component speakers sound great, I've never been disappointed by Rockford Fosgate. My only gripe is with the tweeters. On songs with heavy hi-hats and cymbals, the sound is very metallic and harsh, even with the integrated crossover. It's almost to the point of nails on a chalkboard. I'm hoping the sound clears up when I install an amplifier. But all in all, a great set of component speakers for the price.

Pros: Great price, Ease of install, Great sound from the woofers

Cons: Harsh sounding tweeters definitely need an amplifier.

Sounds Good

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Decided to keep my '01 Tahoe so wanted to make the sound good. Sounds ok. Found that my biggest problem was a blown sub woofer, so new speakers helped once the subwoofer was replaced. Master instruction sheet was just so so. Numerous errors in removal procedures. The original rear tweeters had louder/good output that the RF tweeters. The front speaker brackets were sad. No mounting hardware included, had to drill holes to attach. One broke so just screwed directly to the door itself. Works ok. Didn't even need rear speaker brackets as speakers screwed into old holes just fine. The wiring adapters to the speakers worked good. The benefit of free instruction sheet, mounting brackets, and wiring harness' was not a large factor after all was said and done. I should have done more research and bought same quality gear for half the price. Bottom line is: I ended up with a very nice sounding '01 Tahoe. However, much was credited to my own work and imagination.

Pros: End result was a good sounding system. Found a super match online for a difficult to match sub woofer. If you have to Tahoe or Suburban just go on the internet and search for the number on the speaker. Replacing the sub woofer was biggest single solution to my problems.

Cons: Free instructions, brackets, and wiring was way over rated.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Super easy install in my 2012 Tundra Crewmax with non-JBL. Crutchfield was helpful in recommending these and walked me all the way through installation ( first time ever tinkering with a truck ). They forgot to send the brackets and wiring harnesses but after contacting, sent them out with 2 day shipping. The front door woofers fitted with brackets and just plugged right in. The dash tweeters required a bit of wiring with crimp connectors but also fit right in ( with wooden brackets I made). Having the tweeters in the dash and pointed at the windshield, you get alot of bounce off from the glass and gives your vehicle a live concert feel.

Pros: Easy install Great sound Powerful mids and highs

Cons:

2011 GMC Sierra
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Purchased two sets of these for my 2011 GMC Sierra Extended Cab to replace all of the door speakers. I kept the factory tweeters mainly because I did not want to take the chance of destroying my A-Pillars and I did not install any of the included tweeters anywhere either. These speakers are great for OEM replacements! The sound is more crisp and clear. I do agree with some of the lower rated comments that these do lack the low freqs but keep in mind that they are $100, their freq response range starts at 60Hz, and their RMS is only 40W. Another thing I discovered in my vehicle is that the factory front speakers are 4 ohm and the rear are 8 ohm. I get more bass out of the new rear speakers than the front. On top of that, GM factory radios decrease the bass signal as you turn up the volume in an effort not to blow the factory speakers. That is why most of the sound processors have a bass restoration circuit. Anyway, I purchased these to replace failing OEM and I was only concerned with mids and highs due to the fact that I have these new 6.5"s backed by two 10" subs. I would recommend these for people on a budget (like me) and are looking for a good OEM replacement speaker.

Pros: Easy install with the free gear from Crutchfield. Sound is great.

I purchased these to replace the stock speakers in my 2001 Grand Cherokee (with the Infinity Gold System). With the included 6.9 adapter plates and the Chrysler wiring adapters that Crutchfield provided me, the install went off without a hitch. I did, however, have to cut off and re-use the stock tweeter wiring harnesses, though, as Crutchfield didn't include those. It was easy enough to do, though, and they sound great! First components I have bought and installed, install was easy for my 2010 Toyota Tundra Crewmax that already had existing stock components. Installation was easy just plug and play with speaker adapters and wiring adapters that run off a Rockford 4 channel amp. For the price by far the best out there couldn't have asked for anything else. Couldn't imagine what the higher value rockford components sound like when compared to these. For the price and the sound of these components by far the best $100 I have spent.

Pros: Easy install, sound amazing, couldn't ask for anything better for the price

2005 Toyota Sequoia
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This was the recommended replacement for the factory installed JBL speakers for a 2005 Toyota Sequoia. There are no aftermarket speakers that fit the Sequoia's 8 1/2 inch speaker opening so a mounting bracket has to be made to fit these 6 1/2 inch speakers. That wasn't as easy as I thought. I found a source for adapter brackets but even that had to be altered. Once installed the bass sounds were significantly less than the original JBL. Not being an audio expert (I just know what I like) I don't know if it has to do with the quality of the speakers or because these are smaller than the original speakers. You and the experts will have to make that determination. I have only had them installed for two days so can't speak to their reliability.

2003 Corolla

Written by: PerpD from Ashburn, VA on February 2, 2014

What a difference!! First off, I have to say we traveled to the new store location in Charlottesville, VA and got to try out the speakers there in their new car simulator/stereo trial room. I wont try to explain it further, but if this is possibly an option for you it's well worth the trip. Anyways, purchased this with the needed plastic adapter ring for our Corolla. Instructions were nice and clear. Installed a speaker in the one door and then compared the sound by moving the music from the stock speaker to the new one. Amazing difference. Made the old one sound like it was playing muffled underwater. My wife loves the new sound, and the tweeters are far superior to the factory ones we replaced. Just a note, factory tweeters are screwed onto a bracket attached with the side mirror screws. We removed the old tweeter and hot glued the new one onto the same bracket. No fitment issues. Another note on installation, we had to custom match drill holes in the door to attach the speaker adapter bracket. No biggie, just a heads up. But all in all, thanks Crutchfield for the help in selecting these speakers, and providing everything needed to install them. The sound quality is amazing. We paired these with the Rockford Fosgate Prime R169X3 for a complete overhaul of the sound system. Wished we had done this years ago. The sound is just so much richer and more crisp.

Pros: Easy fit, amazingly crisp sound quality, included adapter bracket and instructions.

Cons: No mounting hole on tweeter required hot gluing to bracket, mounting bracket for speaker required drilling holes in door. Neither of these was a big issue. A little light on the base, but paired with the Rockford Fosgate Prime R169X3 we had plenty for the system as a whole.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I bought these to replace my rear deck speakers in my 2000 BMW 328i 4-door (e46) (non HK speakers) as the stock ones were shot. I read reviews of others complaining about the lack of bass or kick, but just thought people were expecting too much out of them. I wasn't looking for speakers that would make the car shake and/or announce to the neighborhood that I was driving through it. I was just looking to replace my stock, OEM speakers that had torn due to age. I am very disappointed with this purchase. These speakers have ZERO BASS...there is ZERO KICK...not even a thud or a bump. Yes, the other ranges sound fine, but do not buy these if you are in need of speakers that can produce bass. The speakers should have "broken" in by now as I have been using them for the last few weeks, channeling everything at the speakers. I should have trusted my gut and just gone to a local car stereo place so I could have heard the speakers for myself.

Pros: ...it comes with a set of tweeters...(?)

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I replaced the front door factory speakers with the RF Prime R165-S in my 2013 Honda Accord due to the lack of high end the factory speakers provided. The RF tweeters do provide plenty of high end but I'm a bit dissapointed with the lack of depth the 6 - 1/2's provide. I know that the frequency response only goes down to 60 Hz or so but still expected more of a full sounding mid range.

replaced my oem speakers/tweeters in my '02 Suburban (one blown out) - door panel removal and speaker install was easy, tweeters took a little jazzing up - used a hole saw to reem out factory tweeters and mounted these in the original spot using the factory housing and pushpins into the doorpanel, soldered oe wires to the new wires and the supplied oe type connectore. They sound ok at low volume, but really seem to crank when turned up - almost too much - I don't listen to my music that loud anymore - think that's how I blew out the oe speaker tweeter - maybe a better setup for lower listening? Either way they smoke the originals - instructions were easy to follow even though I had the door panels off and apart while I was waiting for the Rockford's - Crutchfield was easy to work with on the order - thanks.

Pros: good price

Cons: tweeters don't mount in original spot like speakers unless you make a mounting bracket

I had already replaced my front speakers with RF two way drivers and could not believe how cheap Toyota stock drivers were, so I wanted to replace the rear drivers as well. The separate tweeters will be used in the front (to replace the stock units) when I have time. The RF drivers gave me a much better mid range and some bass as well, but a Sound Ordinance B-8PTD was what I needed for the low end. Install instructions were very helpful and the brackets and harnesses worked great with some sealer around the edges. Overall much better than stock.

Pros: Easy to install and nice, clear, punchy mid-range and higher bass.

Cons: I would have liked more low end, but realistically had no right to expect it from this size driver.

Mica Injected Polypropylene Woofers: The woofer cones are mica injected polypropylene. This material is light weight and rigid for decreased distortion and improved bass response.

Tweeter: The 1/2" Mylar tweeters are a balanced dome design. A semi-dome tweeter has a dome placed inside a cone. Balanced dome tweeters are semi-dome tweeters with equal reproduction area given the cone and dome portions of the tweeter. Out of the box, the tweeters are mounted in the flush mount housings. An angled surface mount housing is also included, and the back of the the flush mount housing and the top of the angled surface mount housing are combined to make the (non-angled) surface mount housing. Once mounted, the tweeters swivel so you can direct them toward the listening positions.

Tweeter Dimensions:

good speakers for the price [ Cory  Jul 08, 2016 ]
They got excellent reviews. Before I buy any product, I always check to make sure there isn't a common problem lots of customers seemed to have based off of the reviews. These speakers didn't so I decided to purchase them. [ Michael  Jun 30, 2016 ]
I've heard a lot of good things about Rockford fosgate so I'm gonna give them a try [ John  Jun 06, 2016 ]

these will do nicely in the back doors of my rogue, and I'll put the tweeters in the dash to replace those strange little speakers that sound terrible [ Charleesa  Feb 15, 2016 ]

to replace the bad factory ones [ justin  Jan 05, 2016 ]
A component system gives you more flexibility to tailor the sound of your environment to your specific tastes. Mounting the mid-bass in a factory door or shelf position and the tweeters up higher on the a-pillar or dash will enable you to create a more immersive and expansive sound-stage. [ James  Dec 28, 2015 ]
Price was best [ Mark  Dec 15, 2015 ]
Recommended by friend that purchased same. [ Jim E.  Dec 14, 2015 ]

This includes 2 Woofers 2 Tweeters, you can see everything that comes in the box on the product page under the details tab. Hope that helps. [ Kenny  Feb 27, 2016 ]  Staff
Thanks for your question. These have a power range: 2-40 watts RMS (80 watts peak power). You'll find this on the main product page overview. [ Kenny  Feb 15, 2016 ]  Staff
No! Foam will never be as durable as Rubber. Now with that said, will the foam outlast the speakers life, or the usefulness of the speaker...probably. If you plan on keeping your car forever, live in very dry hot environments and listen to EDM I'd say go for the rubber. If you listen to talk radio, don't plan on keeping your car for more than 5 years and live next to the beach, foam will be fine. As for sound, that is subjective. Some people have seen UFO's too. [ Matthew  May 28, 2016 ]
Yes I think they are just as durable. I also think the sound better. Hope this helps you out. I have had mine for about two years and I love them. I would choose anything beside Rockford. Good luck [ Clayton  Nov 23, 2015 ]
Not required but can be helpful. Have these in the rear of my Tundra and they sound great mated to an aftermarket head unit. Granted its getting 30 RMS. I would say you'd be fine as long as the head unit is supplying >20 watts RMS. YMMV and hope that helps. [ GREGORY  May 29, 2015 ]
Depends on your head unit. You need to make sure the speakers impedance matches. Also how many watts your stereo has to push them. I didn't need an amplifier and mine sound awesome [ TODD L  May 29, 2015 ]
No, just replace old speakers with these. [ DREW  May 29, 2015 ]
You don't have to but they will sound better if you do [ JONATHAN  May 29, 2015 ]
I have a 1998 dodge dakota I've used these on two jvc units and a kenwood unit they awesome! I am extremely picky about my sound as well and I've had the for about a year now still sound good! [ GUNNER  Sep 15, 2014 ]
My speakers rock [ CHARLES D  Sep 14, 2014 ]
Yes they will. I have an alpine CD receiver and they sounded great!! Especially with an alpine radio because they have a lot of tuning options. [ JONATHAN  Sep 14, 2014 ]
They are good highs. Also get 6x9s for some thump. Country sounds good. Rap not so much [ KARL A  Sep 14, 2014 ]
Hello, I do recommend getting an amp as I installed these without an amp and sure they sound good but you're not using them to their full potential. Also since you have an aftermarket deck they will sound even better with the aftermarket amp. But if you're not going to buy an amp might as well keep the stock speakers since most factory amps only push less then 20 watts also not only will it benefit the speakers it will also benefit the deck.
