Excellent factory replacement

Whether you're building your first system or replacing some burned-out factory speakers, Rockford Fosgate's Prime speakers offer clean, powerful performance that'll keep you and your friends rockin' as you drive. Better components give you better detail

The Prime R1675-S component speaker system sports stiff mica-injected 6-3/4" polypropylene woofers that deliver strong drums and bass, along with clean reproduction of the midrange frequencies. The separate Mylar tweeters add the excitement of strong high-frequency response to your music without a trace of harshness. Built-in crossover networks divide the frequencies going to each driver, so all your music plays faithfully. Grilles are included.

Note: The oversized terminals on these speakers won't connect to a Crutchfield wiring harness. A free 10-pack of female quick slides that you can splice onto our harness will be included with your speaker purchase.

Installation note: You'll need a pair of our universal backstraps to install the tweeters in the factory locations.

easy to install, sound so much better than previous speakers, wish budget allowed for more power and louder capability speakers, but excellent sound for the money

They have a good mid range and bass and better than coaxial speakers. I had some Kicker 6 3/4 good clarity but the sound was low . I haven't replaced my factory tweeters but I'm about soon since my drivers side is blown and my passenger side is about to go out after installing these speakers and testing them out

Pros: Better sound than coaxial speakers and component speakers is the way to go if your vehicle already equipped with them

Cons: you will have to drill into your door shell to mount this speakers and tweeters in the door panel if you don't want to run the line up to front pillars to replace

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Easy to install and a perfect fit! I was able to cutout the factory tweeter panels and replace them with the Rockford Fosgate grills for a GREAT look! Other than those little tweeter grills there are is no other way to know that I have aftermarket speakers so it is a very nice stock looking installation. The connections were simple with no issues. I did have to spend some money for some mounting hardware in order for me to use the Universal Mounting Strips that Crutchfield sells but that's for another review. The speakers perform great and have made me very happy!

Pros: Great Sound Easy Installation Great Look

Cons: Speakers did not fit Crutchfield supplied brackets. Had to do some modifications to get a decent fit. I blame that on the bracket not the speaker.

Speakers good, install not so much

Written by: Samuel from Wexford, PA on April 3, 2016

2011 Toyota Prius
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The speakers themselves are very good. I got them "scratch and dent" and honestly I could not find a problem with them - nothing missing that I needed, even still wrapped in plastic. The sound is very good for a more inexpensive speaker. Bass is significantly better than OEM, tweeters slightly less so but still very good. Many complaints about the bass but I find it fine for what I listen to. Clarity is good and they handle volume from the factory stereo well. I don't have an amp but may get one in the future. I put in some soundproofing as well and I would highly recommend doing so when installing these. The installation instructions provided were helpful but the install proved too much for an amateur like me. I planned on spending 2-3 hours on the whole project and after that time barely had one door done. After several broken panel clips, and lacking proper screws to fit the adapter bracket to the door (plus the fact that I had inadvertently tripped off the hybrid system when I disconnected the battery so the car wouldn't start afterwards) I called my mechanic. I just didn't have the time to put in to this project that I thought I did. Would I buy these again? Yes. Look at the OEM speakers and you'll laugh. But I would definitely say lesson learned on the install. If you are doing it yourself and new to installing speakers and removing/replacing trim panels take your time and plan on a whole day, possibly a weekend, along with a few trips to the local hardwa

Pros: - good sound - "scratch and dent" deal was great - significant improvement over the OEM speakers

Cons: - installation time consuming and frustrating

The speaker install with associated brackets went as advertised. The sound is comparable to the stock speakers, as the existing headend was utilized. Overall a good replacement for the stock speakers.

Pros: Price Brackets and wiring harnesses made installation a snap

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This is an absolute slam dunk for a factory replacement speaker. These get the job done and are a noticeable improvement over the paper cones that they replace. The mids and highs are much, much improved and so much easier to listen to at the volumes you need during regular driving speeds.

Pros: Just a smart move to improve your listening pleasure during your daily driving.

Cons: For their use, there are no cons.

Subaru Forester speaker upgrade

Written by: Peter C from New Hampton, NH on March 15, 2016

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

An outstanding improvement to the factory base stereo for very little investment in time and money. The Rockford mids alone are at least three times heavier than the cheaply constructed originals, and addition of tweeters really opened up the sound. Big improvement in bass as well without boominess.

Pros: An inexpensive and relatively easy install, and the first step for further improvements

Cons: Speaker manual is a little vague on some key issues, example, how do you remove the tweeters from the flush mounts and install them in the surface mounts?

I put these in my 07' Tacoma in the front doors behind a Kenwood Excelon KDC-X798. along with Rockford Fosgate Prime R1675X2 in the rear doors. Sound is GREAT!! I used the Crutchfield supplied mounting brackets that I had to modify a bit to mount the speakers. One in the brackets mounting to the door was easy. Your not going to get bone jarring base out of these but they do have nice bass and great sound. Looking at getting another set to put in my 02' crew Chevy.

Great sounding speakers. You cannot beat the price for these incredible highs and mids. Bass is exactly what you'd expect for 6.5's. Would recommend to anyone. After I installed them the guy who helped me immediately asked so how much did you pay for these? I imagine he'll have them soon too.

Need to have correct sizing

Written by: Codaleks from Howard KS on June 16, 2014

Sounds decent, bought these for my 11 tahoe front doors and oem tweeter location, but someone at Crutchfield messed up with information, info page on page lists tweeter at 1/2", when actual measurement is 1 1/2in, with mount it's 1 7/8in

Pros: Sound

Cons: Tweeter size

Crutchfield response on June 18, 2014 The listed tweeter size is the manufacturer's listing for the diameter of the actual tweeter dome inside the plastic housing. The real mounting dimensions are listed on the Details tab of the speaker's webpage. In this case it is a whopping 1.83" cutout for flush mounting, 2.125" flush mount frame diameter, 1.815" surface mount frame diameter. Installing tweeters is almost always a custom job. If these don't work out, don't forget about our 60-day money-back guarantee.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I bought these speakers to replace my factory speakers in my 01 Ram Pickup and was very happy with the clarity of the speakers. I had an aftermarket clarion head unit to begin with so I could easily compare the sound from factory to then Rockford speakers after the install and it was worth every penny. I'll be the first to admit the head unit is arguably the biggest dictator in sound clarity but even with a very modest head unit, these speakers perform well above their price tag. Overall, very happy with purchase and would recommend to anyone!

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I was impressed by these component speakers and especially for their price! Better sound than a pair that I bought for a similar setup costing almost twice as much.. I am running them off a Blaupunkt head unit using its built-in amp. I bought this set for the rear as a test and will definitely be buying another set (though may have to get a smaller diameter) for the fronts.

Pros: GREAT price, includes all wiring and multi- tweeter mounting options.

1996 Toyota 4Runner
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I blew my budget getting a much nicer head unit than I intended, so had to bargin shop for my speakers. I am very impressed with the product! My 1996 4runner comes with 5 1/2 " door speakers with seperate tweeters mounted atop the door. I was excited to know that these were A) direct fit and B) 6 3/4". I expected better base from these compared to stock but they are only marginally better. Tweeters are so close to mounting perfectly without any modifications. But a few minutes of altering and they fit great. I would buy these again for the price as the overall sound quality is vastly superior to stock.

Pros: Price, sound quality, and ease of install.

Cons: None.

Features

Mica Injected Polypropylene Woofers: The woofer cones are mica injected polypropylene. This material is light weight and rigid for decreased distortion and improved bass response.

Tweeter: The 1/2" Mylar tweeters are a balanced dome design. A semi-dome tweeter has a dome placed inside a cone. Balanced dome tweeters are semi-dome tweeters with equal reproduction area given the cone and dome portions of the tweeter. Out of the box, the tweeters are mounted in the flush mount housings. An angled surface mount housing is also included, and the back of the the flush mount housing and the top of the angled surface mount housing are combined to make the (non-angled) surface mount housing. Once mounted, the tweeters swivel so you can direct them toward the listening positions.

Tweeter Dimensions:

Frame Diameter Frame Width Frame Depth Cutout Diameter Mounting Height Mounting Depth
Flush Mount 2.125" N/A N/A 1.83" 0.34" 0.752"
Surface Mount 1.815" N/A N/A N/A 1.1" 0.66" (Screw Depth)
Angled Surface Mount N/A 1.815" 1.845" N/A 1.661" 0.59" (Screw Depth)

Crossovers: A 6 dB/octave high-pass crossover is integrated into the case of each tweeter. The woofers have two spades on each terminal; the wire from the tweeter, as well as the wire from the source are connected there.
