Better components give you better detail

The Prime R1675-S component speaker system sports stiff mica-injected 6-3/4" polypropylene woofers that deliver strong drums and bass, along with clean reproduction of the midrange frequencies. The separate Mylar tweeters add the excitement of strong high-frequency response to your music without a trace of harshness. Built-in crossover networks divide the frequencies going to each driver, so all your music plays faithfully. Grilles are included.

Installation note: You'll need a pair of our universal backstraps to install the tweeters in the factory locations.

Features

Mica Injected Polypropylene Woofers: The woofer cones are mica injected polypropylene. This material is light weight and rigid for decreased distortion and improved bass response.

Tweeter: The 1/2" Mylar tweeters are a balanced dome design. A semi-dome tweeter has a dome placed inside a cone. Balanced dome tweeters are semi-dome tweeters with equal reproduction area given the cone and dome portions of the tweeter. Out of the box, the tweeters are mounted in the flush mount housings. An angled surface mount housing is also included, and the back of the the flush mount housing and the top of the angled surface mount housing are combined to make the (non-angled) surface mount housing. Once mounted, the tweeters swivel so you can direct them toward the listening positions.

Tweeter Dimensions:

Frame Diameter Frame Width Frame Depth Cutout Diameter Mounting Height Mounting Depth
Flush Mount 2.125" N/A N/A 1.83" 0.34" 0.75"
Surface Mount 1.815" N/A N/A N/A 1.1" 0.66" (Screw Depth)
Angled Surface Mount N/A 1.815" 1.845" N/A 1.661" 0.59" (Screw Depth)

Crossovers: A 6 dB/octave high-pass crossover is integrated into the case of each tweeter. The woofers have two spades on each terminal; the wire from the tweeter, as well as the wire from the source are connected there.

Q
I bought a pair of Rockford Fosgate tweeters (R1T-S) I wanted to know if I could use these larger tweeters to replace the tweeters that came with the tweeters this component set?
lloyd n.  Aug 03, 2022
1 answer
A
As far as I'm aware Lloyd these are very similar, and can be used in conjunction if you prefer! They should sound great, and since the crossover is built in to the tweeter your covered. If you end up with a duplicated set, we can always help set up a return for the R1T-S if you need, just let us know!

You can check to see if this will fit your vehicle by using our Outfit My Car tool: http://www.crutchfield.com/car/carselector.aspx For additional details on fit or installation please contact an Advisor by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat. They will be able to pull up your vehicle and give you the details on if this will fit and what you will need for an installation in your vehicle.

I'm not certain if these will work in a 2017 Chevy Malibu, but what I do know is...I absolutely hate these speakers. I don't have a bit of bass after installing these. My blown factory speakers sounded much better than these. I wish I could help you on whether or not they'd fit your car, I just know that they aren't what I was after.

Q
Will these work with 2017 nissan sentra? Saw an earlier post and it stated that the speakers did NOT work.
benjamin  May 30, 2020

A
These speakers can fit into the vehicle and can work in an aftermarket setup. They are not good replacements when the intention is to power them with stock gear. I recommend contacting an advisor on 1-800-324-9695 to discuss your setup and goals to get a personal recommendation on new speakers

Can I install just the woofers only since my 2018 Accord EX already has factory installed tweeters?

Hi Edward, thank you for your question. We would love to go over your setup with you, and provide you with a personalized recommendation that will better suit your speaker upgrades. You can chat with an Advisor online or by phone at 1-800-324-9695.

Yah it will work, I would check and make sure your tweeter wiring isn't going to affect anything.
ron  Apr 23, 2020
A
Yes, but sound quality would be so much better and brighter if you removed the factory tweeters and replaced them with the paired (matching) component. If you are taking the effort to replace woofers why wouldn't you replace the tweeters?
jake  Apr 23, 2020
A
Technically you can install either or but these tweeters are going to sound better than the original equipment in your Accord.
michael  Apr 23, 2020
Q
do the 6.75 mids have built in hypass filter to block dangerous low frequencies ?
joe  Jan 25, 2020
1 answer
A
The mids are a direct connect to the speaker wire from an amp/radio without a filter. The filters in this set is for the tweeters only. To answer your question, no. That would have to be done with the radio high pass.

Q
Is the RMS rating of 40 watts for each of the 4 components in this set, i.e., each tweeter 40 watts and each woofer 40 watts?
todd  Jun 16, 2019
1 answer
A
The tweeter is hooked in to the speaker by wire supplied from the manufacturer so I would say its 40 watts in parallel. it is not a separate hook up to the tweeter from the stereo . I hope this helps.

Do I need crossovers to install this in 2012 tacoma?
timothy  Mar 18, 2019

I have these speakers in my car, they have internal crossovers. The tweeters wire right into the speaker. No need for crossovers in any vehicle. Hope this helps!
michael  Mar 19, 2019
A
No. The crossovers are built into the speaker. Very easy install
carlos  Mar 18, 2019
Q
Can I install these without a separate amp? Do the tweeters and woofers connect to each other? I'm trying to install these in a 2004 gmc envoy, anyone else have a vehicle like mine with these in it? Thanks!
lucas  Aug 22, 2018

A
Yes, you can run these directly off of the factory headunit. However they really shine with some power ( I ran mine both ways). The tweeters are connected at the woofer and have signal filters on them. The woofers rely on the natural frequency roll-off. Take the advantage with the door apart to add some sound deadening.
gregory  Sep 01, 2018

I installed these in a 2015 mustang to replace factory speakers and they will work with your factory amp. The mid bass speaker has inputs as well as outputs to go to your tweeter the crossover is built onto the mid bass to filter out the low end going to the tweeter. So yes they can connect to the mid bass. But they can also be connected separately if you have factory tweeters in your vehicle like mine did. So works either way.
stephen  Aug 30, 2018

I have this installed in my Honda Civic without a dedicated amp. The tweeters replaced older tweeters and the subs replaced subs, so they were not connected to each other, except through the broader audio system.
karl  Aug 30, 2018
A
They'll replace your factory speakers perfectly. Remove your old ones, and install these. Be sure you get the polarity correct or you wont have much bass
nick  Aug 30, 2018
Q
Is it possible to use the woofers to replace my current front door stock woofers and then use the tweeters to replace my stock dash speakers? Or would it be too much of a hassle to physically mount them that far apart from each other?
dalton  Jul 12, 2018
1 answer
A
Component tweeters are often custom-mounted in factory dash locations without issue. So, yes; this is definitely possible. Q
If I want to install these tweeter from Rockford Fosgate Prime R1675-S, flush to my door, what size hole saw bit should I use? The owners manual states 1.83 inches and 2.13 diameter of the crown, and the closest hole saw bit available is 2.0 inches. Thats 50.8mm hole to a 46.40mm, so how to make this install?
pleasant  Jun 16, 2018
2 answers
A
cut with the next smaller hole saw and dremel the material away to fit the hole so the fit is tight. Use a caliper to measure the mount and scribe that diameter against the surface that you will be grinding... that edge will be what you are drinsimg up to.

How do these component speakers work without a crossover?
frank  May 03, 2016

Eh, ok, running from stock 80 watt deck they play but no bass not bad quality their alright
ronald  May 05, 2016

There is a built in crossover on the speaker itself. I have a pair in the front doors and they sound awesome! Clear highs and low lows with great mid range too.
eric  May 05, 2016
A
It uses a high pass filter in place of an actual crossover. In my vehicle, they sound fantastic at low and mid volumes. At high volumes they're too bright and tire my ears. I have the same head unit with some jbl's in my other vehicle and I can listen at high volume all day. The "low" end is very good and would be better with some more juice. I'm putting in 20w rms.
lee  May 04, 2016

Frank, I bought these speakers long ago enough that I don't remember. The car I put them in is a 2014 Ford Focus, which already had woofers and tweeters (front doors only) in separate locations, so I assume there was already a crossover in the car. I can't be sure. I also don't remember buying a separate crossover. Lastly, I figured I would screw the whole deal up so I had them installed at a car stereo jawn.
