Bass as low as 57 cycles? Really? Really. Haven't bought car speakers in years. These are impressive. They replaced the stock speakers in my 2004 Mazda 6. I was planning on eventually adding a subwoofer, but don't feel the need right now. Bass response isn't butt-thumping like a sub, but it IS gut-grabbing. I'm hearing things in the songs on my CDs that I haven't heard before. Probably never will install a sub. Very impressive!

Pros: Impressive reproduction throughout the listening range. Especially the bass.

Cons: None.

My sister killed my speakers in my 97 Ford F-150 and needed to be replace, when I order a new receiver for my 06, I order the R1682 speakers. Alittle pricey more my old truck but I said what the heck.

Pros: easy to install, love the sound

Cons: price was alittle high but you get what you paid for and I am happy with it.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

It took me an hour to install in my 2009 mazda 3 but ive never done this before. Instructions were straight foward, just a little hesitant when snapping the panel off. Ive read reviews about people saying their new speakers are tight and dont have as much bass as the factory ones but thats not the case here. Made my beads hanging from rear view mirror vibrate. Used the same screws that the factory had, and the wires were plug n play.. Sound is awesome even at loud levels. Im sure it will sound even better with a head unit. And thats that ive only installed two of em in the front doors..

Pros: Awesome highs and bass,

Cons: None so far as i just installed em. Will get the same speakers for rear soon....

Good sound quality. Construction and materials appropriate for automotive applications.

Pros: They fit. Sound good.

Cons: No protective screens. The original Ford truck application front speakers had a protective grill. I believe the door panel is enough protection.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

It's been many years since I replaced any electronics in a vehicle. I forgot just how easy Crutchfield makes every step from ordering to install. Granted, all I installed in my 2011 F150 Fx4, were door speakers, the instructions made the install simple. And these speakers really surprised me. I'm trying to piece together a better system to replace the pathetic factory system and these speakers were step 1. I'll be ordering a head unit, amp, subs and look forward working with Crutchfield. Next, I'll start on my 2013 Vette! Thanks Crutchfield!

Pros: Just a great customer focused company with great products.

Cons: None

I was replacing the door speakers in my stock 07 Miazda 6, and after putting these speakers in I was not impressed at all. The stock speakers sounded much better than these, and my car didnt come with the bose system. I will be returning them, and I am completely unsatisfied with them. I wish i wouldve spent more to get a better bang for my buck.

2004 Ford Ranger
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I installed 4 Rockford Fosgate Prime speakers into all 4 doors of my 2004 Ford Ranger XLT Supercab. These speakers are fantastic, ESPECIALLY for the price. The high's and low's are incredible, and even with the stock stereo in my truck, I can still fin tune the sound to fit any genre of music from metal, to jazz, to electronic, and everything in between. The bass is probably the weakest aspect of the speakers, but this is understandable as they are only 6 x 8 speakers, and therefore not capable of producing a lot of bass. Regardless, the door panels of my compact truck allow for significant resonance for the speakers, and the bass that they do produce should be sufficient for the average listener. However, I listen to a lot of metal and electronic music, so I will be investing in a sub-woofer later on to improve the bass. These speakers have a very appealing price, and the sound quality is much better than I had expected for the price-tag.

Pros: Highs Mids Overall Sound Quality Ease of installation (through Crutchfield's Ford Wiring Harness)

Cons: Possibly the bass, but that is due to the size of the speakers, not their quality. You probably won't get much better results even with a more expensive speaker. It is still sufficient regardless, although not as extraordinary as the high's and low's.

2010 Ford E Series
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Bought these along with a JVC KDX50BT head unit. I've always wanted a pair of Rockford Fosgate's and thought this would be a perfect time to do so. I installed them in my 2010 Ford E-350 work van. These are an upgrade from the factory 25Watt 6x8's. I figured since I am in there most of the time the way it is, I might as well have it be as enjoyable as possible. I installed these yesterday and were a breeze to install with the Mastersheet provided by Crutchfield. Once again, you guys never fail to amaze! It took all of the guess work out on how to install. The sound of these speakers is awesome. I usually listed to hard rock and these speakers did not disappoint! The sounds are very good. I am not an expert but I do think these sound VERY good!!!

Pros: Easy install. Great mastersheet to help. Great sound. Great low price!

Cons: None. All around good speaker!

I ordered these and they came, as always, within a few days from Crutchfield. Thumbs up there. I had no problem putting them in thanks to the master sheet. Two thumbs up. However I was really disappointed with the quality. The bass is definitely an improvement over stock, at-least at lower volumes. Mids were the most disappointing, but hey it is a two way speaker for cheap..

Pros: Better than stock

Cons: Doesn't live up to the 4.5 star review

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

These speakers are just awesome, with both of my cars now equipped with them. The first vehicle I installed them in was an 04 Mercury Mountaineer (installed in both front and rear doors, factory locations) coupled to a Clarion CX501. They sounded amazing, with exceptionally good bass - i was contemplating installing a sub in this vehicle, but I'm completely happy without. The second vehicle I installed was an 03 Ford Focus, again in both front and rear doors, coupled to a Kenwood KIV-701. Again the results were very satisfying, with terrific bass yet still clear highs. I had originally installed Kenwood KFC-X683C speakers (which I thought would be a good match to the KIV-701) but was very dissapointed in their sound, despite costing nearly twice as much as the Rockfords.

Pros: Amazing bass, very decent mid and high range, very reasonable price

Cons: none

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Very crisp and accurate sound quality. Lacks a bit of low-end response, but from 8x6's oh well. Certainly not 6x9 punch. Mid is really where they seem to excell. Not too harsh or bright. Running off a 18w Alpine head unit and will play with plenty of volume without clipping whatsoever. Quality is great, and with install kit oh my gosh was it easy. I starting cutting and splicing factory wires like I've always done in the pas, only to realize with the install kit absolutely none was needed! simply plug in all adapters and connectors. Great job crutchfield. Great install project even for a rookie.

Pros: Mid-high sound. Build quality. Price.

Cons: Lack of low-end.

I bought these speakers for my mustang, I replaced the rear speakers and these sound a-ton better. I'm going to be replacing the front speakers soon. The fronts slam bass while these take a beating and there is a dramatic difference between the two. These also put out plenty of bass, more then stock also a fair amount of treble as well. I go to school, so it's going to take some time buy the front pair.

Worth every penny.

Pros: I say purchase these because the pair of Alpines I bought, they sound sorta muffled and went with these instead.

I mounted pairs in both my front and back doors. I already had an aftermarket head unit installed, so that may affect performance by a lot, so i suggest if you are thinking about adding better sound quality to your listening experience, pick up a head unit as well as these speakers. you will not regret it!

These are great upgrades from stock speakers. I have them in the front and rear doors of my Explorer. I listened to them for a week before installing my subs and amp so I got to hear them full range. I like the tight bass response from the woofer. The high range speaker has good clarity (not great). If you're planning on keeping your stock head unit, you will probably only notice minimal improvement. But give these speakers a high quality signal of 20 - 45 watts and they sound awesome. Good job again to RF!

Pros: Price, Sound Quality

i purchased these to replace my factory speakers in the front and rear doors of my F150 supercrew. i knew they would be better than factory but WOW what a difference. the sound quality of these speakers are top notch!! the clairity of these speakers is better than expected and this is with the factory cd/stereo that came with the truck. the best thing is they are affortable for the average person. bought all four for less than some wanted for two. crutchfield is number one.

I put these in my 2010 F150 while keeping the stock stereo. They made a big difference in clarity at higher volumes. Highly recommended.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I wanted to upgrade the factory speakers in an 02 Explorer. I considered several speakers ranging from $50 - $110 a pair. These sounded just as good as the speakers at the higher end of the price range I was considering. They have crisp highs without being harsh and a fair amount of base.

These speakers are like night and day compared to the stock speakers.
Crutchfield's install sheet wasn't the best had to do some minor modifications.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Unfortunately, I only bought two of these to start just to make sure they were
enough of an upgrade to warrant getting four. Well, now I have the sound faded all
the way to these two speakers since they make the stock two sound so terrible.
Needless to say, I bought two more.

Lots of lows and highs with these. I would say they lack a little bit with mids, but
this could be how I have them equalized since I like it that way. No complaints at
all, some of the best sounding car speakers I've ever heard.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I have a convertible Mustang which has 4 6x8 speakers. Not a car allowing for immaculate sound. But replacing the factory garb with 4 Rockford Frostgate 6x8 was a great call. They sound crisp, and actually produce a decent bass in a car not meant to have it. Driving around with the top down, I can rock out to some great sounding music now.

WOW. What a difference over stock. These sound best with more rock driven music
rather that hip-hop. If you're going for hip-hop these will work, but I'd definitely
recommend a amp/subwoofer combo to go with.

2001 Ford Ranger
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

When I first hooked these up, I hadn't moved my subs over from my old car to
this new truck.. I wasn't too impressed right off cause i was running them full
range off the Factory deck. But once I transfered the rest of my system, with them
crossed over and amplified they deliver a very good range. You can say that
about most speakers but crossed over at 125hz and my EQ set to a wide 500hz
focus these speakers really come to life. and for about $30 bucks cheaper than I
was expecting to pay. I did add the Baffles in the doors as well on my Ford
Ranger Supercab. It was really nice that they also included the harness adapters
for free. Excellent handling of my order with a tracking number and swift
deliver also at no cost. I am most satisfied with my order.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I upgraded my stock speakers in the back seat of my 2002 Mazda B-3000 and these
speakers sound absolutely amazing for the price. The bass is deep, the highs
are crisp. It's matched with a new Sony head-unit and I can turn it up very
loud with the speakers distorting. I'm very happy with these speakers and I'm
thinking of getting some new speakers for the front doors also. Great speakers!

I just got all my speakers hooked up today. The clarity is great, nice loud and clear. I dont
have mine powered by an amp yet, but just from the factory harness power, they sound
great. I would recomend them to anyone. Plus you cant beat the price, and Crutchfield's
great customer service.

I installed these speakers in my Mazda 3 as an upgrade from the factory speakers. There is absolutely no distortion, even on max volume. These things have plenty of bang and also
have impressive highs. Well worth the money. Definitely recommend.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Put these in my '04 Ford F-150, I was looking for a very inexpensive upgrade from factory to pair with the clarion CX-609 I also bought. I have always heard the Rockford name, and when I saw these so cheap I was a little concerned. I called the 800 number to get some advice, and after being advised that I would be happier with Boston Acoustics that were wayyyyyy more $$, I decided to take a chance and go with the cheaper Fosgate and at least do a sound check, and return them if I wasn't happy.

I am completely satisfied with these speakers, the sound quality is excellent for the price, it even added a surprising amount of low end. I would definitely recommend these speakers to anyone on a budget, or even people with money to spare. I think some of the more expensive speakers would be hard pressed to deliver any better sound quality to price ratio.

2008 Mazda 3
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I got these installed in my rear doors of my Mazda with factory headunit. They
sound great. I currently still have the factory speakers in the front and there
is no comparison between the two. It is like night and day difference. My front
doors will actually be Infinity Reference speakers. But I think they will
complement each other well. Anything is better then the stock speakers.

The bass is more exact and clean. The mids and highs are crisp and clear. Very
good choice if using the stock HU. Did some searching around and the HU in the
Mazda3 is putting out about 18-22 RMS watts, so both the Rockford and the
Infinity speakers work well.

Very impressed. Will recommend.

Be NOT afraid of the 6x8... these are terrific!

Written by: Tom from Chicago, IL on April 18, 2010

I just installed 2 pairs of these in my 1994 Ford Ranger XLT Supercab, along with the Alpine CDA-105 head unit and now I'm in some SERIOUS trouble! I bought this modest little car system with the idea of keep it simple, keep it inexpensive, but these speakers sound SO good alone that it has me thinking... and that can be dangerous for a married guy who wants to remain that way. Bass response is tight and well defined if not prodigious, with exceptional mid-range and clear crisp highs. I am envisioning a fairly modest amplifier to power these little Rockford gems and perhaps adding some sort of bass solution down the road, while keeping room in the back for my young son to ride in comfort. The trick will be in doing this so as NOT to alienate the wife in the process. I know I can count on the folks at Crutchfield to offer and recommend the RIGHT choice to me when that time comes. You just can't beat these speakers in terms of performance and price, and the service I have always received from Crutchfield takes a back seat to Nobody! I am very, very pleased with my purchase in every respect!
