Better components give you better detail

Each 6"x9" speaker sports a stiff polypropylene woofer cone that delivers strong drums and bass, along with clean reproduction of the midrange frequencies. Rockford Fosgate mounts the silk dome tweeter flush with the woofer so it'll fit in more vehicles while adding the excitement of strong high-frequency response. The built-in crossover network divides the frequencies going to each driver, so all your music plays faithfully. Grilles are included.

Bought these over a week ago and installed them my self they sound great and hit hard.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I purchased a pair of these speakers for the rear doors on my 2015 Jeep Cherokee and installed them yesterday. I have a six speaker system and wanted to try the rear doors first to see how the overall sound may be improved, but I didn't think that it would be as dramatic as this is. The treble and the bass are like night and day compared with the stock 6X9's that I replaced with these. In fact, I will order another pair for the front doors and install those next. Besides, Crutchfield with provide the adapter harness and easy to follow instruction free of charge. Can't beat it.

Pros: Solid bass, crystal clear highs and a well constructed speaker.

Cons: None

Upgraded my 2016 Tacoma TRD Sport 7" LCD without JBL sound system. 6x9s fit perfectly with the speaker mounts and the universal wiring harness. No cutting involved just plug and play. I am currently running all my door speakers/Tweeters to my factory head unit and it sounds great. Will be purchasing a 12" sub in the near future for the bass

Pros: Fits 2016 Tacoma (with adapter and universal wiring harness)

Cons: I had to drill a couple holes in the mounting bracket

1999 Acura Integra
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Acura Integra sedan stock locations: 2 6 x 9s in rear deck, 2 6-1/2 midrange in bottom of front doors w/1" tweeters at top of door. Sony speakers up front w/60 watts rms 240 peak, dome tweeter. Jensen 6 x 9 3 ways with ceramic tweeter 45 watts rms with foam surround finally fall apart after years of faithful service in the rear deck. Had transferred these from another car which I sold. Running a 60 watt rms 4 channel Sony amp with mosfet power and output stages for clean power. Sony CD player with 24 bit DAC. I purchase these RF 6 x 9s. What a difference; very clear with good bass! I listen to classic rock mostly 1950s to 1970s, guitar music. No subwoofer as I need every bit of space in my trunk, being a musician. These are not as bright as the Jensens because of the silk dome tweeter compared to the Jensen ceramic tweeter but even though Jensen rated at 30 KHz and RF at 48khz RFs have better bass. I think there is something to coaxial vs three way speakers. Stacking speakers one on top of the other with 3 way or more seems like it would affect the sound. You don't see home speakers stacked on top of each other. This speaker is 2 way with a flush mounter tweeter which allows the woofer to pump out the bass in an unobstructed way for clear undistorted sound. I highly recommend music lovers to purchase a separate amp with mosfet output stages for clean power to get the most out of your system. I don't think I'll buy speakers that are rated lower in watts than the amp anymore.

Pros: Quality materials, design and sound at a low price. Good bass for classic rock sounds even w/o a sub.

Cons: Would not fit. Had to drill speaker basket to make fit.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

These speakers are really good replacements for factory speakers , But do not bolt up directly to factory mounts in a Nissan, Two opposite holes lined up cross ways, the other two had to drill holes or use self tappers. With use of factory head unit reduced volume due to 4ohm vs. 2ohm, stockers. But turn it up and these speakers really shine.

Pros: Well made, Sound great.

Cons: Do not directly bolt up.

Omg. The help from the support team was outstanding! I had no clue where to began and right off the bat they gave send me all kinds of options from price range to top of the line speakers! The speakers them self fit perfect in my Honda Civic 2dr and sounds perfect for a 2dr. Can't wait to save my money up to buy the rest of my system. Thank you guys at crutchfield, I know where to go for anything todo with my audio. And will be well recommended! Thank y'all again

Pros: Full experience with Crutchfield was spot on. The Rockford fosgate reck deck speakers sounds amazing and recommend them to anyone who needs that just enough bass, and sounds perfect with subs behind them. Also I love that crutchfield sends you a video to let you know you purchase is confirmed and been shipped.

Cons: As far as today from almost a month ago nothing has been a con.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Rockford Fosgate is all i can say. Amazing speaker, if that is your looking for mid range and low range 6x9 without an amp. Factory unit pushes these speakers good! And thanks to Crutchfield I didn't have to cut any wires or anything at all. They sent me a connector that plugs right into the factory speaker connector. The only negative i have about the speakers are the screws that hold it into the rear deck of my car. The back glass is really close to the speaker mounting spots and i could only get 2 Screws to hold tightly there. Which is fine. The cover that covers the speakers on the rear deck doesn't fit properly now. Which that doesn't bother me either and that's without the cover grille on the speakers. The OEM cover still snaps in 3 spots. Great speakers! If your looking for mid range and low range speakers and for the budget these are the ones to get! My accord is an EX package which came with the tweeters in the dashboard so i have plenty of highs as is. I just wanted a little more clean bass. The speakers offer that and the mid range which i was not expecting! A defiant buy!!

Pros: Great product from a great company! And don't let me forget to mention Crutchfield and there amazing workforce for helping me decide which set of speakers to get. Very knowledgeable and very kind.

Cons: Nothing at other than the OEM Cover that wouldn't fit properly but it's not a big deal at all. Just a pet peeve of mine OCD I guess.

Improved sound for relatively low cost

Ranjan from Texas on 4/30/2016

2015 Toyota Prius
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Replaced stock non-JBL front door speakers with a pair of these speakers. Still using stock base head unit ("Display Audio"). Supplied Metra adapter was a perfect fit for existing holes in car door (after drilling out rivets), but screw holes on speakers were not a great match for adapter. 3 out of 4 holes could be used roughly, 4th had to be drilled new in adapter. Harness connector did not slot into Metra adapter hole, but was able to enlarge hole in adapter slightly so it fit snugly.. Sound clarity is definitely improved, though overall volume is slightly less than stock speaker and bass "feel" is about the same. Sections of music where there was significant distortion before with the stock speakers are much clearer now. I still hear some distortion at the high end, possibly the stock squawkers now standing out. For the price, upgrade was worth it.

Pros: Noticeable improvement for the price with no other upgrades.

Cons: Required some small modifications of the Metra adapter to make it work; volume is slightly less than stock speaker at same level on head unit.

Crutchfield's instructions

Ken from Williamsburg, VA on 4/19/2016

2011 Toyota Prius
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The speakers sound fine. My review relates to the support I received from Crutchfield. First, the instruction sheet left a lot of steps out. ("Attach the speaker to the bracket." How? With what?) I had to rely on other descriptions online. The bracket included did not fit the speaker. And the hardware included was insufficient for the job. I called the help line and tech support suggested I file the plastic bracket until it fit. With the door panel off and the old speaker removed, it was too late to do anything else. I improvised a lot, went to the hardware store, and made it work. But it should have been much easier. I was disappointed in Crutchfield.

Pros: Rockford speak performance

Cons: Instructions and installation hardware provided by Crutchfield

Good sound, fantastic Crutch guide, bad speaker hole match

Buzz-Max from College Station, TX on 4/14/2016

2001 Honda Civic HX
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Replacing factory cardboard that rotted after 15 years in a 2001 Civic coupe. Tight sound, nicer tweeter & high frequency than I was expecting for the price. The bass is great at medium & higher volume. Feels like high quality materials. I feel like I got very good value. Bass at low volume is a bit disappointing and the screw holes did not quite match up on my car. Presumably this is a car issue and not speaker issue. Regarding installation, the Crutchfield Honda plug adapter was perfect and the instructions for the surprisingly complicated process were clear as could be. How do they do that for every car? In this car you really do have to remove the seat backs, seat bottoms, seat belt anchor, rear side pillars and right rear side panel in order to remove the deck cover and get to the speaker screws. I watched several online videos to affirm this and one guy tried unconvincingly to take a short cut and just remove the grill. Don't do that. It took me about 2 hours total, and I was slow. As mentioned, I didn't have good screw hole alignment but I was able to secure the speakers with three not four screws and one of the three being a bit angled but am confident they're locked in place.

Pros: High frequency sound, low frequency sound at medium+ volume, apparent quality, value. Better sound that stock speakers, but not ear-poppingly so.

Cons: Bass at low volume, screw holes didn't match up great with my old Civic.

Prime Speakers

Zallez from los angeles, CA on 3/26/2016

2011 Toyota Venza
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Bought these speakers based on the other's reviews. i gave them 5 stars, due to cost, and came with instructions from Crutchfield, speakers connectors and adapters to the door. So, when i got an estimate to install them, the price range was from 35 - 100. but, with the instructions, didn't need to (some modification needed, but not alot). was pretty easy. Should be noted, the 5 stars includes instructions, the speaker adapters and speaker wire included with purchase provided by Crutchfield. So have to recommend buying from Crutchfield for that!.

Pros: more bass then regular stock speakers. you can tell, they can handle WAY more than stock speakers. Price is always relative. for this price point, highly recommend speakers!

Cons: can't really find anything to complain about.

Speakers to replace factory ones

Amy D. from louisville, KY on 3/23/2016

2013 Toyota Camry
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

These speakers were installed in the front doors with very little trouble, except for the very tight wiring harness connectors to the speaker terminals, I was afraid I would break the terminal so much pressure was required to slip the neg connector on.

Pros: Speakers sound a lot better than factory ones- cleaner, tighter bass, fuller frequency range, good definition. Good value for the money.

Cons: Tight wiring harness connection, doesn't handle a lot of power, not much to choose from in speakers that would fit in front door.

chemao from Randolph, MA on 3/5/2016

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Installed in a 2010 Toyota Highlander. The installation was a BREEZE, especially with the included free brackets and wire harnesses. The speakers sound great and despite having such high power handling, sounded decent even with just the power from the head unit -- but you had to turn it way up to hear much. I then put a small Boss R1004 amp on them (plus the two Rockford Fosgate 1525X2 speakers in the rear doors). The amp is rated for 40Wx4 RMS @ 4Ohms, which is perfect for these speakers. They hit really hard now and sound incredibly clear. The speakers were delivered on the third day after ordering. Sadly, the 1525X2 set that I ordered took 2 weeks to arrive. I recommend you don't order from Crutchfield online but rather call their hotline to make your order, and have them confirm inventory.

ET ALLEN from Virginia on 1/8/2016

These were a good and affordable replacement for the front door in my 2015 Prius. They pull decent power from the factory head unit and provide tighter bass (though not great response) and previously missing detail. The plastic mounting brackets Crutchfield provided didn't include much needed hardware, which made installation more difficult. These speakers sound great with classical and folk music. Hard Rock could use an amp at higher volume.

Pros: Big improvement over factory at a very good price.

Cons: Mounting brackets missing hardware.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I do not currently have them hooked up to an amp, but they go pretty well with my stick stereo. I have a 2013 Camry and I put the 6x9s throughout the car even though crutchfield says they will not fit. Install went well with he harness that crutchfield supplied (no splicing needed) and the adapters helped somewhat since I just used my stock rear deck speaker as the bracket. Highs are great, however, i do wish there was a little more bass but that is what a sub is for. Overall, I'm satisfied.

Pros: Easy install, great looking ascetics, and crisp highs.

Cons: More bass!

I needed replacement speakers for the front doors in my 2014 Nissan Maxima. After blowing one, I certainly didn't want to replace it with another factory unit. The technical team was great about walking me through the install since they didn't quite have up to date info on my model year. The quality of these speakers are great and the sound is clear. I needed replacements for blown factory speakers that were 19 years old. The folks at Crutchfield helped me find this set of rear speakers to match the front already in my cart. These sound great and the look on my sons face when he heard them for the first time was priceless. Now my 17 year old has the best car audio in the family.

Pros: Great sound. Great price.

Cons: They did not install themselves.

Great sound, simple speaker, clean appearance and a good value.

Pros: Tweeters are smooth, not harsh, good bass response, clear sound

Cons: They were for my son's car and not mine.

Not that great compared to stock

Violator from Texas on 2/15/2015

I have a 2015 Chevy Colorado. The stereo in it sounded pretty good, but I wanted to see if a speaker upgrade might make it sound even better. I bought a set of these, along with the required adapters and installed them in the front doors. After getting them installed and taking a listen, I was not happy. The factory speakers actually sounded better to me than these did. I think it is because the factory speakers in the doors were simple one-way speakers and they're paired with smaller mid/tweeters in the dash. After installing these Fosgate 2-way speakers the high frequencies seemed to be out of time-alignment or something. It seemed to be "ringy" and just didn't sound good. I took them back out and put the stock speakers back in and after listening again I'm actually much happier with the way the stock speakers sound. I really wish I had bought these Fosgate speakers from Crutchfield instead of seeking what I though was a better price elsewhere though! If I had bought them from Crutchfield I would be able to return them now, but the site I bought them from doesn't accept returns on opened merchandise. Lesson learned I guess. I'll try and sell these on craigslist or something now. If you're installing these as a replacement for old or fried speakers they'd probably do just great though. The speakers themselves sounded pretty good, just not along side other tweeters in the dash I guess.

Surprised at how good these sound for the low price. Used in a dodge caliber. Install was a breeze with the included quick connectors. Will still distort at higher volumes but much better then factory.

Pros: Value for price, better mid, and highs

Cons: Distort with even a little bass

Sounds super clean and clear. Everything was fine until I amped it and started to crank the volume.

Pros: Sounds super clean at moderate volume

Cons: If you crank the volume, especially with an amp, you will blow the speaker very easily.

2014 jeep patriot w/ boston acoustic sound system, replaced the door speakers (front and rear) the sound is crisp and highs are well defined. Does not provide much on the bass end but that's ok I like to hear the other parts do the music. Adds a nice balance to the sound system.

Pros: Good price, solid sound quality

Cons: Not much bass

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

For the price these speakers are well made and should give me many years of service. Mid range is clear and nice. The bass is actually pretty loud but not as deep and rich as I would have liked to hear. With that said ,,,,they are priced correctly. I am running a stock deck and these speakers matched up to it just fine.

Pros: good price, well made, loud bass, works well with a stock deck.

Cons: bass is loud but needs to have more depth. But is is after all just a 6x9.

2009 Nissan Rogue
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I had some concern from an earlier review about how they would sound at higher volumes but took a chance anyway. Very glad that I did! These replaced the factory stock speakers in the front doors of my 2009 Nissan Rogue and run off the factory radio. The treble and bass are very well balanced and remained clean to volumes much higher than what the factory speakers ever came close to... with far better bass response! (thumpity-thump!) Installation went well but the factory screw mounts did not line up perfectly. Using the original mounts, I was only able to do 3 of the 4 mounts for each speaker. The screws were beefy enough and they mounted solid enough that 3 out of 4 were quite adequate and there's no rattle. Very happy overall!

Pros: Great sound range and bass response using factory OEM radio

Cons: Screw mounts did not line up with OEM speaker mounts on front doors

2006 Nissan Pathfinder
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I was looking for something to replace a blown speaker in the driver-side door of my 2006 Nissan Pathfinder. I replaced the stock CD/stereo a few months ago, and with "bass boost" I accidentally blew the speaker out. The online help agent was able to set me up with this pair of speakers, based on my requirements: not too expensive, decent sound, and an easy fit (with no special mounting brackets) for my car. Overall, these fit the bill, and I'm very happy with them so far. The price is right and the sound works for me just fine.

Pros: The sound is pretty good, and the price is pretty good, too. Also, the instructions were helpful in getting the interior panels off to replace the speakers.

Cons: A slight fitting problem. I did not use the mounting screws that were used with the stock speakers. I found some screws I had laying around that worked, and only used 3 of them per each speaker as the holes did not line up perfectly.

Underwhelming.

2011 Nissan Rogue
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Let me start off by saying this is the cheapest pair of speakers I've ever bought. My most recent setups had Eclipse, MB Quart, and Boston components. These we're for my wifes Rogue. At moderate volumes, I was actually quite impressed by the clarity of these speakers. But as soon as I tried to push them, I would hear a horrible scratching from the tweeter at certain frequencies. Mind you, I'm talking volume levels to cover wind noise from having the windows down. So not deathly loud but louder than average. I'm not sure what I expected from Rockford's budget line. For the average listener or the rear deck, these will be wonderful speakers. For those wanting clear, loud music, or for a front speaker install, save a little more money and go ahead and get some nice components.

Pros: Good value, clean highs at moderate volume. Bass extended surprisingly low.

Cons: Noticable distortion at higher volumes. Push them with an amp or keep the volume down.

Great speakers for the price!

I installed these in the front doors of my 2012 Suzuki equator. I went with these per Crutchfield's recommendation and am very happy with them. Compared to the factory speakers these rock! Give them about a week and a half break in period and they really come to life. Thanks Crutchfield!

Pros: Price, quality, richness of sound after break in.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I would have given it 5 if the installation went easier. Mounting hole didn't line up and new speakers where taller than originals. There should be some clarification in the instruction on how to modify. I was under the impression that the would fit without modifications. That said they sound great and the modifications weren't exceptionally difficult.

Pros: Speakers sound great

Cons: Installation was more difficult than expected do to mounting holes not lining up. Also the speakers are taller than original forcing some modification.

Awesome sound, reference quality

Julio from Lynchburg, VA on 12/4/2013

I had a hard time deciding what to get when I went to Crutchfield store. I tried several different configurations but when I heard the Rockford Fosgate Prime R169X2 I knew. These speakers sound very realistic; but sound quality is very subjective You can find yourself hating these speakers if you only want bass response. These are nearly perfect cones, meaning they cover a full range of the frequencies you need to appreciate music the right way; but again, sound quality is very subjective.

Pros: Warm sound

Cons: None. I love them!

They are great!

Great sound paired with Alpine head unit without separate amp. Had some trouble with installation instructions provided.

Pros: Good sound and quality.

Cons: Installation instructions didn't work. Tried to top mount them using original 8mm screws but holes don't line up and factory grills won't fit (speaker sits too high). I drilled holes out to 1/4" (be careful not to hit rear window) and mounted them on the bottom using bolts, nuts and washers.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I bought these speakers to replace the factory rear deck speakers in my 2002 Mazda Protege. They were worth every penny I paid for them, the difference in sound is very noticeable.

Pros: -Great upgrade for factory speakers -Can use factory speaker grills -Can use factory mounts

Cons: There was a hiccup installing them in the rear deck, the screw holes did not line up with my rear deck holes (they were only off my a 1 or 2 millimeters), this was fixable by useing the screws that came with the speakers and driving them at a angle until they fixed themselves.

Rockford Fosgate R169X2

BarryS from Tucson AZ on 5/28/2013

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Sound pretty bad. Also, barely fit the application due to (1) basket is barely able to fit into Mazda's standard subframes [not for inexperienced installers], and (2) larger-diameter magnet pushes back against Mazda's standard rubber backing due to diameter [NOT due to depth, which is OK].

Pros: Works, but barely as to fitment.

Cons: Fitment is really not suitable for the application.

I cant see the picture, but I can promise these speakers are full range. I have them up front on a blaupunkt amp..they sound great [ JAYSON A  Nov 12, 2016 ]
The cap is wired into the tweeter in the center of the cone. It's there to reduce and block the low frequencies that could damage the tweeter. Between the tweeter and woofer, it is a full range speaker. [ Chris  Nov 12, 2016 ]
