Rockford Fosgate's Prime R2 subs deliver strong bass in your car, and they are definitely built to last. The R2D2-10 sub features a 10" mica-injected polypropylene cone that works with a high-density poly-foam surround to punch out fat, deep notes. Rockford Fosgate stitches the tinsel leads that carry the signal to the voice coils directly into the cone — they'll hang tough through heavy use so you get consistent, reliable performance. The stamped solid-steel frame offers venting usually found in high-end subs that keeps this sub running cool.
Dual 2-ohm voice coils allow you to wire this sub for 1- or 4-ohm impedance, giving you more flexibility in setting up your system. Rockford Fosgate optimizes this Prime sub for both sealed and ported enclosures so you can choose the type of bass you want in your ride.

To drive this single subwoofer, we recommend a mono amplifier rated between 200 and 375 watts RMS at 4 ohms. For more information, please refer to our article on How to Match Subwoofers and Amplifiers.
A component sub is simply a speaker that's designed to reproduce bass once it's installed in a compatible enclosure. Think about the impact of a movie soundtrack in a big theater or even in your own home HDTV setup. A component sub can add the same kind of power to the music in your car. And a car sub is not all about the boom that you hear on a street corner (although that's cool too) - you can pair a component sub with your choice of enclosure to get bass just the way you like it, from tight and punchy to fat and loose. And once you experience music in your car with a well-tuned subwoofer, you'll never go back.
Great subwoofer. I am currently under-powering this subwoofer and it still produces great sound. The instructions included with this subwoofer really helped with wiring it optimally. Highly Recommend!
Pros: Great price Great sound Even looks really nice
They r a good sub but they was a down fall I have a pbr300x1 amp and I wire the sub in at one ohm and after about 8 months it blew but that's just because the rms is for two ohms not one but all in all it sounded great u just need to watch out on a few little things I think now I'm going to get either the p3d210 or the p3sd212 to handle my pbr300x1 mono amp
I bout this to replace a 10 kicker comp it blows the kicker off the map I'm using a rockford p300-1 with a bass know it is in a small ported box and I'm telling you this thing sounds great and it's 250 rms the kicker is only 150 rms and these subs are the SAME PRICE depending where u get them from you better off with this sub I wish I would have went straight to the rockford r2 I only had it for about 18 hours but it great so far
Pros: Great sub for the price, good build quality, I good beginner setup or if you just want a nice amount of bass in your music without being so loud that you set off car alarms
Cons: Not as pretty as the punch series but still a good looking sub
The sound quality was very clean and deep bass for the custom built box that I put it in. Would definitely recommend!
These subs were exactly what i was looking for. They sound great and hit hard. They have enough power to shake my mirrors pretty good. I got 2 and put them in a down firing box under the backseat of my 06 f150 crew cab and they fit great.
Pros: Sound great and inexpensive
Cons: none so far
I purchased 2 of these a while back and hooked them up in my GMC Sierra. I had them in a downfire probox enclosure with a Crossfire 600.1 amplifier. These little guys really surprised me. Great sound quality and plenty of bass
defantly the best 10" sub I have used, running 300 watts RMS to one speaker in a F150 crew cab , custom box .75 cu ft can overpower the factory sony system a bit. I had a Kicker Hideaway (8") and the new Rockford sub is amazingly better
Pros: great sound for a great price
Cons: not a flashy sub, but mine is down firing anyway.
Just awesome they sound so great installed in my crew cab super duty the crisp sound is just Soo good just amazing great product
Very nice sub for the price. With the dual 2ohm coils it gives you plenty of options on wiring. Built a custom ported fiberglass enclosure for a sport track whick has very little room to put a sub, and I'm telling you this thing is amazing. Inside the truck I would put this against my 12's in my car. Great job Rockford. And excellent service by Crutchfield once again!
Pros: Price, wiring options, build quality
Cons: The only thing and I do mean only con I can come up with is the dust cap on the face of the speaker seems cosmetically as if it was just slapped on there quickly with some glue.
By far the hardest hitting pair of subs I have ever owned. They sound amazing in a custom built vented enclosure
Pros: DVC, 2 ohm, small enough so they dont take up a lot of space and have a great frequency range
sound good and hit hard in a sealed box.
Pros: good product for the price
Cons: none yet
timely shipping. all info included for a seemless install. thanks crutchfield
I hooked one 10in sub in a sealed box of .65ft running on a 200.2 memphis amp i ran 4ohm which gave me 400rms running on 1/4 gain the sub sounded great but within 2 hours one of the voice coils fried.i went to a local shop thinking my amp went out but it was the sub they told me they stopped carrying these subs awhile back because frequent problems blowing up..i replaced it with a jbl gt01014 and it is amazing the sound is great..save a few bucks more and buy a better sub you wont be happy with the fosgate..and i am a long time fosgate fan so i was very disapointed in what i experienced
Pros: low price, small enclosure capable, good bass response hit lows nicely
Cons: huge rubber around the mounting screws made it tough to fit into my box which has a recessed opening for a 10in sub, voice coils blew in 2hrs of mild volume listening DO NOT BUY!
I purchased two of these subs to put under the rear seat of my F-250. I was a little skeptical on how these subs would perform due to their low price. I was amazed by the sound quality and performance of these subs.
these subs are great. i have a 05 dodge 1500 quad cab you may know that there is not
much room for subs in there. only one spot really and with the box they sell for them they
only offer about .60 - .75 per sub in cubic air space and these subs work great for that.
they require very little space. and sound amazing. great bass. hit hard sound great and
never have had them distort and i run them at their max recommended rms. and for the
price you definately cant get this quality from any other subwoofer. buy these you will not
be disappointed . btw i had purchased a set of ten inch kickers for the same box and they
sounded terrible in my box and i thought it was hopeless with such little space and was
about to just throw out the idea of a set of subs. i found these returned the kickers and
am very pleased with my decision

Overview: The Rockford Fosgate Prime R2D2-10 is a 10-inch subwoofer with dual 2Ω voice coils. The sub features a StampCast steel frame, quick-release compression terminals, and a mica injected polypropylene cone. An anodized aluminum voice coil former and spider venting help keep the subwoofer cool.
Steel Basket: The R2D2-10 subwoofer features a StampCast steel basket for added rigidity.
Compression Terminals: The Prime R2D2-10 features spring post terminals which accommodate speaker wire up to 12 gauge.
CEA-2031 Compliant: Power handling on the Rockford Fosgate Prime R2D2-10 subwoofer conforms to CEA-2031 industry standards. This means the subwoofer has the capacity to handle power under continuous demand, not instantaneous power handling, that over time, can damage voice coils.
Sealed Box: Rockford recommends a sealed enclosure with an optimum internal volume of 0.59 cubic feet (from 0.5 to 0.75 cubic feet is acceptable). Sealed enclosures provide the most control over a woofer, will handle a lot of power, and provide accurate sonic reproduction, making them suitable to all types of music.
Ported Box: Rockford recommends a ported enclosure with an internal volume of 1.4 cubic feet using one 4" diameter x 13" long port; this yields a tuning frequency of 43 Hz. Ported (or vented) enclosures typically provide better overall efficiency than sealed so they are suitable for use with smaller amplifiers, giving you more bass output from less power. However, this efficiency comes at the expense of very low frequency output (below 40Hz).

Had 1 and sounded awesome so adding another! [ Michael Feb 05, 2016 ]
Because of its known reputation. [ Matthew Dec 16, 2015 ]
I have a sealed box with 2 R2D2 10's and they sound great. The hit really hard and sound great. [ ZACH Aug 12, 2014 ]
Unfortunately I did not put this in a box. I bought this for my 2002 deville because it uses an open system. The item doesn't have to be put in a box. The trunk in my case is considered the box and I am happy with the output. I want some bump but I didn't want to rattle the car. [ JOHN P Aug 11, 2014 ]
I personally installed a sealed box in my pickup with this speaker and a 250w amp and it sounded amazing. I ended up buying a second one and making a double speaker sealed box and it was even better speakers are still pumping 2 yrs later! And I would play it loud haha. I don't have much experience with ported(vented) boxes but if your under any size restrictions or you just want strong clean sound, go with a sealed box. The ported boxes usually are a bit louder but the sound isn't as clean. The biggest thing is to make sure you have the right amp for the speaker and it's wired right. Hope this helps lance!
