Rockford Fosgate's Prime R2 subs deliver strong bass in your car, and they are definitely built to last. The R2D4-10 sub features a 10" mica-injected polypropylene cone that works with a high-density poly-foam surround to punch out fat, deep notes. Rockford Fosgate stitches the tinsel leads that carry the signal to the voice coils directly into the cone — they'll hang tough through heavy use so you get consistent, reliable performance. The stamped solid-steel frame offers venting usually found in high-end subs that keeps this sub running cool.
Dual 4-ohm voice coils allow you to wire this sub for 2- or 8-ohm impedance, giving you more flexibility in setting up your system. Rockford Fosgate optimizes this Prime sub for both sealed and ported enclosures so you can choose the type of bass you want in your ride.

To drive this single subwoofer, we recommend a mono amplifier rated between 200 and 375 watts RMS at 2 ohms. For more information, please refer to our article on How to Match Subwoofers and Amplifiers.
A component sub is simply a speaker that's designed to reproduce bass once it's installed in a compatible enclosure. Think about the impact of a movie soundtrack in a big theater or even in your own home HDTV setup. A component sub can add the same kind of power to the music in your car. And a car sub is not all about the boom that you hear on a street corner (although that's cool too) - you can pair a component sub with your choice of enclosure to get bass just the way you like it, from tight and punchy to fat and loose. And once you experience music in your car with a well-tuned subwoofer, you'll never go back.
The look and style of this sub is pleasing. Easy to use. This sub stays cool and does not get hot. Resulting in longer life span. Downside the makers of this sub should have taken more time to make sure that everything is properly glued together. A separate gasket would help to make sure this sub is sealed flush with the box. To reduce unwanted air leaks. Something I noticed with this sub is that it doesn't hit the ultra low notes very well. A sub sonic filter is definitely needed. Tuned to 50hz. A ported high SPL box tuned at 50hz will get this sub to play loud and clear. This sub comes with screws and it own screw bit. Good for putting this sub in a new box. I found this sub works best with various rock music and not so much with hip-hop. As hip-hop requires a minimum of 30hz for a better sound experience. Hope this helps the next time your looking for a new 10in subwoofer.
Pros: Saved money here at this site
Cons: Not very durable
Rockford Fosgate are known for their quality and sound and this sub will not disappoint. Has plenty of bass and its construction is flawles . I recommend this sub to anyone. You can't go wrong with it.
Pros: Too many to list
Cons: Make the wiring diagram a little easier to understand. (The one that comes in the box with the sub)
A great sub at a more than reasonable price. I have bought more expensive subs in the past and they were not made nearly as well as these one's. Great "punchy" sound... Affordable and great looks. I bought 2 of them and put them in an old set of Rockford Fosgate truck boxes i had and im not disapointed at all
Pros: Very reasonably priced. Well built. Sound great and look great!
Cons: None that i could find
For the price these are excellent speakers.
Sounds Very well with a punch 300.1 behind it. Mostly listen to rock now. Does really well
Good bang for your buck
Whats to say? You can't go wrong with Fosgate subs, wheither you buy inexpensive ones or the high dollar ones you can't beat them. 2 10"s in a 4 door jeep are plenty loud!!!

Cons: Thow in free grill covers, not everyone installs in a trunk of a car!
ths subwoofer rocks

Overview: The Rockford Fosgate Prime R2D4-10 is a 10-inch subwoofer with dual 4Ω voice coils. The sub features a StampCast steel frame, quick-release compression terminals, and a mica injected polypropylene cone. An anodized aluminum voice coil former and spider venting help keep the subwoofer cool.
Steel Basket: The R2D4-10 subwoofer features a StampCast steel basket for added rigidity.
Compression Terminals: The Prime R2D4-10 features spring post terminals which accommodate speaker wire up to 12 gauge.
CEA-2031 Compliant: Power handling on the Rockford Fosgate Prime R2D4-10 subwoofer conforms to CEA-2031 industry standards. This means the subwoofer has the capacity to handle power under continuous demand, not instantaneous power handling, that over time, can damage voice coils.
Sealed Box: Rockford recommends a sealed enclosure with an optimum internal volume of 0.59 cubic feet (from 0.5 to 0.75 cubic feet is acceptable). Sealed enclosures provide the most control over a woofer, will handle a lot of power, and provide accurate sonic reproduction, making them suitable to all types of music.
Ported Box: Rockford recommends a ported enclosure with an internal volume of 1.4 cubic feet using one 4" diameter x 13" long port; this yields a tuning frequency of 43 Hz. Ported (or vented) enclosures typically provide better overall efficiency than sealed so they are suitable for use with smaller amplifiers, giving you more bass output from less power. However, this efficiency comes at the expense of very low frequency output (below 40Hz).
I know people that has them an they sound good. So I will try them out. [ Sean Jan 07, 2016 ]

Hi. I have a stereo amp, but I run it in "bridged" mode. If my memory serves me right, it's a 2 ohm amp, and I ran the 2 speaker coils wired in parallel. So, it's bridged to mono. I previously tried the "stereo" route with it, but it didn't sound better, and I think not as loud. [ Russell Dec 05, 2015 ]

Each speaker has two four ohm coils in it, so you need to wire each speaker in series (positive to negative) then the two speakers in parallel from the amp (positive to positive : negative to negative) The math works out to a 4 ohm load. [ TIMOTHY Jul 03, 2014 ]
