The R500-1 mono amp powers your subwoofers with up to 500 watts RMS so you will feel the bass. Awesome amp; I've only been using it for a week but it sounds great. It gets really hot so I keep my windows down to keep it cool and it hasn't overheated yet. The remote for it doesn't have that much control between the 3 sub sections on it (low, medium, and high) though that doesn't affect the quality.
Pros: Great sound quality.
Cons: Keep air flow on it so it doesn't overheat.
One of the best amps for the price! RF uses actual ratings unlike some companies that overrate their amps. If it says 500w you get 500w

I love the way this amp looks and it's a big amp. I have 2 12s alpine wired down to 2 ohms and this amp makes them move. Great amp, hasn't over heated on me, I always check to see if it is hot to touch but it just gets a little warm which is normal, I would recommend to anyone.
I would recommend this amp I have it hooked up to 2 12" 500 watt speakers no problem
The amp was easy to install with a wiring kit and it can keep the power going.Except when it overheats. This amp should have been built with a fan.

Decent amp, got it hooked up to an re audio 12" d4 but it takes about a minutes worth of playing before it gets nearly too hot to touch. Hits the bass alright but it's probably not enough for my sub at the moment.
I love this amp, lots of raw power, clean low bass. Wires in to another amp like a snap. Rockford makes the best products. Wire in capacitor for more lows and more stable power.
Cons: Get rid of bass dial add on, waste.
This AMP has to be the low end of RF products. While this amp looks cool, built very well, the sound quaility out of it is not all that great. The remote control has a dial with 10 settings. I - 4 are the same, 5- 7 no change and 8-10 no change in their respected numbers. Gets a little louder. Should be 1, 2 and 3 settings. I wouldn't say it's the worst amp out there.. but it's got some THD issues.

Really good amp for the price. I have it hooked up to 2 10in. Sony explodes and people always ask how many 12's I have in my car. The amp does tend to over heat on hot summer days but then again it could be because I can't help but to bump my system as loud as I can. Its a really good amp and I recommend it to anyone.
This amp is great for the price. Who else makes an amp at this price that will make your hair stand up. I'm pushing 2 Fosgate 10's right now in a Tahoe. Waiting on Christmas to put in a set of 15's. If you can't feel it get rid of it. its got enough adjustments so you can fine tune to your liking. The only draw back. the amp gets hot to quick. Was tumping the neighbors while washing the Tahoe and after an hour it shut down. It was only 80 degrees out side. The Texas heat in the summer is going to kill this thing. Came back on with in 60 seconds. I have this mounted on the side of the speaker box, so it has plenty of air space.
I bought this amp after trying a 250W JL unit for use in my BMW 5 series. The car's trunk has so much sound deadening that the JL unit wasn't audible at all in the cabin. I got this amp, along with a .95 sq/ft sealed box and a 12" DVC 4ohm Alpine Type-R sub. Installation was SIMPLE, the hook-ups are easy, documentation is all there, and this amp pushes the Alpine sub hard. I have more bass than I know what to do with. The optional wired remote is a nice feature, so I can turn the bass down when I have clients or business partners with me and don't want to look like a teenager (even though I crank it all other times!). Great value! One concern is to be mindful that this amp is very long (or wide, depending how you look at it) and this makes mounting a point to consider. I mounted mine upside down on the rear parcel shelf in my trunk, and its matte black finish makes it invisible when the trunk is open. Wired with recommended 8GA wires, it runs well. No complaints yet.
this amp is quite large but is great in the power department. i have have it pushing my one 12" kicker L7 2ohm. it sounds amazing for being so under powered. but you might not want to buy if in a hot area. it over heats when its hot outside because it is in the trunk so i recomend to install it in under a rear seat or some place cooler. but other than that its a great amp for the price.
Man this amp is amazing. I had it hooked to two dual SVR speakers and it pushed them over the top! Now I have it hooked to two 12" Kicker CVR 2ohm DVC Subs and they do exactly what they are named. I have them in a seal hatchback box and it sounds amazing in my 96 deville. For my subs being under powered this amp is awsome. Getting one more to bridge. Rockford always give the best bang for your buck.
I have been in car audio for 12 years and this is by far the worst amp i have ever used, Had it hooked up to a Alpine type R 10" with dual 4 ohm voice coils and it would barely move them, then after a hour of tweaking the setup it just shut off, could not touche the amp for a hour after it so hot. After that it would only run 10-15min without shutting off. Dont waste your time with this amp.
I purchased this AMP to be used in my 01 F150 extended cab. I have the bench seat up front and mounted on the "hump" with no issues. Its footprint is quite large so make sure you measure twice before you buy. It powers my 2 MTX 10's with no problems.
Easy to hook up, tons of power, and a great price you cant go wrong with this amp. Powering 1 10" infinaty 1052 in a sealed box at 2 ohms with power to spare. Makes me wanna get another very nicely built and at this pirce you cant beat it.
Hooked this amp up to Rockford Fosgate P2L-212 Stage 2 Dual 12" Hatchback Subwoofer Thinking a would get a little bass in my 2009 impala boy was I wrong it was more bass then I thought after a quick 2 minutes of tuning it sound great. I got more bass for less money then any of the local shops could do. Rockford Fosgate and crutchfield always a good combo for auto sound .
hooked this up to a JL W1v2 12" sub at 320x1 4-ohms and it kicks! the price couldn't be better. plus with the option of "wiring down," you can add an additional sub to get even more bass outta your setup....overall, very pleased. best price you'll find at RF's quality, and at this power rating.
On the recommendation of Sam at Crutchfield, I purchased this amp to replace my dead Pioneer 7300M. I'm using the amp with a pair of 10" Infinity 1050Ws. It was so simple to hook up (including the wired volume control) that it honestly took 15 minutes from out of the box, to inside my car and ready to use. I simply can't believe the difference in the quality of the bass! It's actually painful to have the amp turned up loud since the tightness and accuracy is incredible. Depending on your settings, you can get as much boom as you want, yet it performs great for every type of music I've thrown at it. Even older Big Band music sounds fuller and more robust. For the price, this is truly a remarkable amp especially if it's used with a stock car stereo. If you buy this amp, you won't be disappointed.
Great amp no problems. It is driving two 8" polk db sub-woofers and it has plenty of punch. Especially like the bass remote control. Allows you to adjust the punch of the bass for different music. Great service from Crutchfield.

Overview: The Rockford Fosgate R500-1 Prime 500 watt mono-channel amplifier is designed to power one or two subwoofers. The R500-1 is designed with specific features to power your subwoofers with a frequency range between 20-130 Hz. This amplifier is not designed to power a full-range speaker.
CEA 2006 Compliant: The Rockford Fosgate R500-1 Prime's power ratings are measured according to the strict standards dictated by the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA). These standards allow you to accurately compare the rated power output of all CEA 2006-compliant amplifiers, even if they come from different brands. Manufacturers who adhere to the standards can display the CEA 2006 logo on their products and packaging.
MOSFET Power: The Rockford R500-1 is equipped with a MOSFET power supply and output stage for good sound, efficiency and dependability.
LED Indicators: The Rockford Fosgate amplifier is equipped with two side-mounted LED indicators.
Mounting: The amplifier can be mounted vertically or horizontally using the supplied mounting screws. The amplifier should never be mounted upside down or in an engine compartment (this will void your warranty).
Gain Control: The amplifier's gain control is preset to match the output of most source units. The gain control can be adjusted from 150mV to 8V.
Low-Pass Crossover: The amplifier features a built-in 12dB/octave Butterworth low-pass filter with a crossover point variable from 40 to 130Hz.
Phase: The phase switch allows you to select the output phase of the amplifier between 0-degrees and 180-degrees to match the rest of your vehicle's speaker system.
Punch Bass: This is a Punch bass control on the amplifier that is adjustable up to 12dB at a fixed 45Hz.
Remote Punch Level Control: When the wired remote Punch Level Control is connected to the R500-1, the gain control of the amplifier is link and allows you to remotely control the output level of the amplifier from the dash or center console of your vehicle. The wired remote Punch Level Control module features a rotary dial can comes supplied with mounting hardware and a 16.5' connector cable.
Power Terminals: The power and ground terminals are nickel-plated screw terminals and will accommodate up to 4 AWG power/ground wire (up to 1/2" spade or ring-style connector).
Remote Turn-On Terminal: The remote turn-on terminal is a nickel-plated screw terminal that will accommodate up to an 8 AWG wire (up 3/8" spade or ring-style connector). This terminal is used to remotely turn-on and turn-off the amplifier when +12V DC is applied, when connected to your headunit's remote turn-on lead. .
Speaker Terminals: The amplifier is equipped with two pairs of speaker terminals for an easy parallel subwoofer connection. The four speaker terminals (left +/- and right +/-) are heavy duty, nickel-plated screw-terminals what will accommodate up to 8 AWG speaker wire (up to 3/8" spade or ring-style connectors).
RCA Input Jacks: The industry standard RCA jacks provide an easy connection for signal level input. They are nickel-plated to resist signal degradation caused by corrosion.
RCA Output Jacks: This pair of RCA pass-thru jacks provide a convenient source for daisy-chaining an additional amplifier without running an extra set of RCA cable from the front of your vehicle to the rear amplifier location. They are nickel-plated to resist signal degradation caused by corrosion.
Punch Level Control: 3.5mm input for connecting the supplied Punch Level Control module.
Fuse: The amplifier is equipped with two installed 30-amp ATC fuses. The amplifier also comes supplied with two spare 30-amp fuses.
