Features

Universal Bluetooth Car Adapter: The Rockford Fosgate RFBTAUX lets you wirelessly stream your music from your Bluetooth-enable device (such as iPhone or Android) to your factory or aftermarket radio via its factory Aux input. You will continue use your Bluetooth-enabled device to navigate your music and to view song/artist information. 5' minijack cable included.
  • USB Charging: The RFBTAUX also features a 12-volt cigarette lighter adapter and USB port to charge your Bluetooth mobile device while streaming your music through the vehicle's audio system. USB charging cable not supplied.

Q
My vehicle has bluetooth but my sirius xm plug and play radio does not. Will plugging the aux end into my plug and play radio broadcast the bluetooth signal to my car's bluetooth radio?
justin  Feb 09, 2021
1 answer
A
This will not work as it is designed to plug into the aux audio input on a receiver giving it Bluetooth audio streaming. You need a Bluetooth transmitter to take the audio out of the Sirius XM tuner and transmit that audio to the Bluetooth in your car. I recommend contacting an advisor by calling 1-800-324-9695 to check our current inventory

Q
If I buy the Bluetooth adapter and I plug it into my Rockford faosgate radio will I be able to get my phone calls or is it just to get the songs that are on my phone?

A
I use an iPhone 6s and the phone portion does not come through my radio. Music, sound from video yes. I have an interface I plug into my f150 factory radio I bought years ago that I connect this unit to.
robert  Feb 28, 2018
A
Unfortunately the device does not support phone calls. It will stream your music from your phone. On of the cool things I like about the device is that it is powered from the DC power in the car, not batteries, so automatically shuts off when the power supply is turned off (car is turned off).
joshua  Feb 24, 2018
A
Answer is NO.It can be used only to play music. When your phone rings, music will pause while you answer the call. Once the call is over, it keeps playing where it left it.
jose q  Feb 23, 2018
A
The answer is yes. In my case, when I'm in the car I have two connections. For the first, my phone connects via the normal Bluetooth connection. The second connection is to the RFBTAUX and the phone treats that connection as if it would if I were connected with a headphone . Works great!!!
rawle  Feb 23, 2018
A
You will not be able to answer calls using this device. It is for streaming music only.
michael  Feb 23, 2018
A
This adapter plugs into the cigarette lighter to provide power to the Bluetooth adapter. The included single pin plug then connects from the adapter to the AUX input of your vehicle or head unit. You will only be able to listen to music from your Bluetooth enabled device. I hope this helps.

Q
Will this connect to my ipod?
johnathan  Nov 26, 2017

A
Yes. It would connect to any Bluetooth device.
jose q  Dec 08, 2017
A
I haven't actually used this for an ipod but I would assume that if it has Bluetooth it will work
jason  Nov 26, 2017
A
If you have a newer iPod with Bluetooth capability it should connect. I connect my iPhone SE to stream music and Google Maps navigation directions. I have been very happy with mine. Ask more questions if you like.
joshua  Nov 26, 2017
A
I use it with my iPhone Bluetooth works great. If you have Bluetooth you should have no problems.
april  Nov 26, 2017
A
As long as your iPod has Bluetooth it should work.

Q
Is there any limit to the number of devices that the adaptor will remember? I have my phone and two daughters who also like to play their music in the car. Will I have to re-sync after each one of them use this device?
scott  Jan 06, 2015
3 answers
A
I only synced one device. It worked fine for 3 months then it died on me
francisco  Jan 08, 2015
A
I'm not 100% sure, but I believe it only pairs to one device at a time. However, there's no code to enter when pairing to phone, so it's quick and easy to do.
gregory  Jan 08, 2015
A
There is no limit. After you sync a device it will remember it each time that device connects. It allows one device to be connected at a time. If you are connected and one of your daughters wants to connect basically turn off your bluetooth, then one of them can connect.

Sounds great to me but know that my ears have been subjected to 'elevated' volume levels in my younger years (ELO, Moody Blues, Boston, Pink Floyd...)

works great for me. sound is very clear.
bryan  Feb 03, 2015

Sound quality is great (for both music and news/talk/sports streaming radio).
geoffrey  Dec 30, 2014

sounds good but mine burned up after a few weeks I would not buy it again since it was a waste to me and my check book
jason  Dec 29, 2014
A
I can't give an opinion on HD sound, but I believe the overall sound quality is great. Used for streaming music from my phone.

I am quite pleased with the performance of the Fosgate unit. I've recommended it to friends.
david  Dec 28, 2014
A
We can be 30 feet from the receiver and get excellent reception. The quality of your speakers and receiver will have more to do with sound quality than this unit. We have experienced no loss of sound quality. We have been using ours on a boat.

Q
Does my car need to have an aux input? I have a 2004 Lincoln LS Sport and it doesn't have one. What's my best option to play music from my phone?
laurel s  Sep 15, 2014
1 answer
A
I forwarded your question to an Advisor and they responded with the following: If you have the standard 4 speaker radio system in your Lincoln you can add-on a Bluetooth adapter like the Parrot Mki9100 which will then support hands-free calling and wireless audio streaming from a smart phone. The Parrot model does not work on the Lincoln LS models that have navigation or the premium 12 speaker system. At that point you would be looking at a radio replacement to gain the extra features to play music from your phone. I would highly recommend calling in to us and we can go over all the options with you. If you would like to discuss further you can contact an Advisor directly by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat.

Q
Does the device connect automatically?
riza23  Aug 05, 2014

A
You push the button/light on the plug in and it begins flashing. Once it begins flashing it will show up on your iphone bluetooth devices list. Then you just click on it to connect.
michael  Aug 07, 2014
A
After you plug it into power it should show on your bluetooth device as RFBTAUX. The device has a blue light above the USB and you can push it to "pair" with your device. I've used it on a boat for 2 weeks and it does what it should. Handy.
christopher  Aug 06, 2014
A
If you have it plugged into a always powered outlet then yes, if the power goes off when the ignition is turned off, then you will have to push the blue button to connect.
barry  Aug 06, 2014
Q
I see that this product allows audio streaming, but does it allow hands free calling on the phone?
rick  Jul 18, 2014

A
This device only offers blue tooth. I supposed you could hear the call through your speakers, but it doesn't have a mic, so I don't know that hands-free would work. I'm only using it for blue tooth music to my car radio.
bryan  Jul 21, 2014
A
Nope. Just audio streaming.
gerald  Jul 19, 2014
A
No, it doesn't. From my iPhone, it streams my music, but not calls or Siri. I wish I'd asked that question before I bought it. Still, it does a perfect job of streaming audio. Less useful for the car, more useful for, say, a boat..
bradley  Jul 19, 2014
A
I only use this for streaming music but since there isn't a microphone I'm not sure how you could use this for hands free calling. Works great for streaming music.
michael  Jul 19, 2014
A
No-it is dedicated to streaming audio. It does a great job!
david  Jul 19, 2014
A
I use this on my motorcycle, so as such, I haven't tried that...
ray  Jul 19, 2014
A
Unfortunately, it does not answer calls. That was the reason that I purchased it.
