About the Rockford Fosgate T1692

Alexander H.

Intense performance

Rockford Fosgate builds their Power Series speakers for the true car audio enthusiast. These Power T1692 6"x9" speakers utilize advanced design elements to ensure that they'll deliver superior sound in your vehicle for a long, long time.

Superior materials

The lightweight polypropylene cone is reinforced with strong carbon fibers so it'll keep its shape when you're pushing the speaker hard. You'll hear accurate reproduction of the lower and midrange frequencies, while the 1" aluminum dome tweeter makes the high frequencies sparkle. These speakers will handle up to 100 watts RMS so you should connect an external amplifier to get the most out of them.

Rockford Fosgate innovations

Proprietary VAST™ technology increases the woofer's cone area without increasing the size of the basket. This larger cone gives you deeper lows and more power handling than the average 6"x9" speaker, and it's supported by a durable rubber surround that's designed to last. Rockford Fosgate mounts the tweeter on an offset suspension system, minimizing any acoustic reflections from back of the tweeter and maximizing accuracy. Open slots on the frame make it easier to install these speakers if the factory holes are slightly off.

Features

Injection-Molded Woofers: The woofer cones are injection-molded carbon fiber and polypropylene. This molding process assures a uniform cone thickness for superior linearity and clarity. It is also light weight and rigid for decreased distortion and improved bass response.

Butyl Rubber Surrounds: The butyl rubber surrounds dampen unwanted harmonic distortion while maintaining linear geometry under extreme weather conditions. This leads to less distortion, superior frequency response, and superior durability.

CEA-2031 Compliant: Power handling conforms to CEA-2031 industry standards. This means the speaker has the capacity to handle its rated power under continuous demand, not just for an instant.

Klippel Verified: The Klippel distortion analyzer, a device that uses a laser and sophisticated software to do large-scale analysis of drivers in motion, lets Rockford Fosgate optimize the speaker's motor structure, voice coil alignment, and suspension to yield the best possible performance.

VAST Surround: The Vertical Attach Surround Technique (VAST) increases a speaker's effective radiating cone area without increasing the size of the basket.

Tweeters: The 1" Aluminum dome tweeters are mounted to an offset cantilever to eliminate frequency response anomalies due to acoustic reflection between the woofer cone and the rear of tweeter.

StampCast Basket: The T152 features StampCast steel baskets for added rigidity.

Speaker Terminals: These speakers have 0.25" wide positive (+) terminals and 0.187" wide negative (-) terminals, which are too large for the vehicle-specific speaker harnesses supplied by Crutchfield for many vehicle applications. It is recommended that a pack of assorted female quick slides (item number 120FQS10PK, sold separately) be purchased and spliced to the harnesses to adapt them to the speaker terminals.

Customer Q&A

4 questions already asked

Q
Do these have stronger midbass than the three way since the tweeter is not a part of the cone?
logan  Jan 18, 2022
1 answer
A
Not really sorry to say it but Rockford has changed. I have 50 watts feeding them (100 watts for the pair) and they sound good but the bass is just lacking. I'd like to try a larger amp but it's to much work.

Q
I have 2 Sony 6x9 speakers that are 30 watt, will these be a good replacement?
wyatt  Oct 08, 2019
1 answer
A
Depending on the year, make, and model of your vehicle and fitment, those would be a decent replacement, yes. They can operate with anywhere between 10-100 watts, and are relatively efficient.

Q
Will my deck which is a JVC KD-R210 be able to handle this speaker. The built in deck amp specs are 20 watts RMS CEA-2006/50 peak x 4 channels?
ryan  Jul 01, 2018
1 answer
A
Yes, it will handle it ok. You will probably want to use an external amplifier of around 75 watts per channel in my opinion though.
