Crowd-drawing bass beats

A hard anodized aluminum dust cap covers and protects the entire cone, showcasing the glossy Rockford Fosgate logo. The result? You get classic warm bass from a cone that's virtually indestructible.

More cone area = more bass

Rockford Fosgate uses their patented VAST technique to attach the oversized rubber surround to the cone that increases available cone area up to 25%, so this sub can push more air for even bigger bass.

Extended excursion

A hefty cast aluminum frame provides a stable platform for extreme cone excursion, while an extended pole piece and bumped backplate allow the sub to hit deeper lows without "bottoming out." Special venting in the frame keeps the aluminum voice coils cool through heavy use for consistent bass performance over time.

Fuse-protected impedance selection

Rockford Fosgate outfits Power Series subs with their unique SWIFT™ terminals, which lets you build exactly the system you want — high-power or multi-sub — without complicated wiring. Just rotate the impedance selection jumper to safely choose between 2 or 8 ohms. If you're thinking about adding another sub down the line, this impedance selector simplifies reconfiguring your system.

The jumper is also fused to protect your sub from accidental overload. These subs work equally well in a sealed or ported enclosure, so you can choose the kind of bass you want for your system.

Enclosure Compatibility

Features

Dual 4Ω Voice Coils: The Rockford Fosgate T1D412 subwoofer features dual 4Ω voice coils and a jumper to easily wire them in series or parallel, presenting either a 2Ω or 8Ω load; the voice coils cannot be easily wired separately.

SWIFT Terminal: Rockford's proprietary SWIFT Terminal (Selectable Woofer Impedance Fused Termination) offers a simple and convenient method of setting the impedance presented by the dual voice coil subwoofer. The impedance jumper also provides fused protection from severe overload conditions. With the jumper in the 2Ω position the voice coils are wired in parallel; with the jumper in the 8Ω position the voice coils are wired in series.

Note: A second jumper is included with the subwoofer, described in the manual as non-fused. Visually, however, this jumper also appears to be fused, but at a higher threshold than the factory installed jumper (possibly high enough to make it effectively non-fused).

Woofer: The Kevlar fiber reinforced paper cone has a hard anodized aluminum dust cap of equivalent size; the result is a lightweight and extremely strong cone, reducing piston flex and cone distortion.

VAST Surround: The Vertical Attach Surround Technique (VAST) increases a speaker's effective radiating cone area without increasing the size of the basket.

Voice Coil Former: Aluminum voice coil formers offer superior heat dissipation over other commonly used materials. The hard-anodized finish increases the former strength. These two factors combine to improve the overall power handling characteristics of the subwoofer.

Cast Aluminum Basket: The basket is a die-cast aluminum design to add rigidity and eliminate multiple acoustic resonances. Additionally, the large aluminum mass helps reduce voice coil former temperature and increase power handling.

Terminals: The proprietary spring terminals will accept bare wire up to 8-gauge.

Grille: A metal grille is included to protect the subwoofer and add a finished look. If the sub is bottom mounted and the back is visible, the grille can be disassembled and just the trim ring can be installed to cover the mounting screws.

CEA-2031 Compliant: Power handling on the T1D412 subwoofer conforms to CEA-2031 industry standards. This means the subwoofer has the capacity to handle its rated power under continuous demand, not just for an instant.

Klippel Verified: The Klippel distortion analyzer, a device that uses a laser and sophisticated software to do large-scale analysis of drivers in motion, lets Rockford Fosgate optimize the subwoofer's motor structure, voice coil alignment, and suspension to yield the best possible performance.

Inductive Damping Heat Sink: The Inductive Damping Heat Sink (IDHS) secures directly to the top of the magnet structure to improve system efficiency by reducing both distortion and back EMF (Electro-Magnetic force). It also radiates heat to reduce the voice coil temperature.

FlexFit Basket: The Flex Fit frame utilizes slots (where possible) instead of single screw sized holes; allowing slight adjustment of the speaker when mounted.

Enclosure Compatibility

Sealed Box: When using a sealed enclosure, Rockford recommends an internal volume of 1.25 cubic feet. Sealed enclosures provide the most control over a woofer, will handle a lot of power, and provide accurate sonic reproduction, making them suitable to all types of music.

Ported Box: Two ported enclosures are recommended:

  • Optimum: internal volume of 1.75 cubic feet using one 4" diameter x 9" long port; this yields a tuning frequency of 40 Hz and a -3 dB point of 32 Hz
  • High Output: internal volume of 2.25 cubic feet using a 3" x 13-3/4" x 25-3/4" slot port; this yields a tuning frequency of 40 Hz

Customer Q&A

8 questions already asked

Q
I have an RF amp already installed in my car it's 600 watts rms at 2 ohms is that enough for this subwoofer ?
steve  Jan 01, 2024
1 answer
A
Although this subwoofer can handle up to 800 watts RMS, your amplifier with 600 watts RMS should be sufficient for the job.
zachary  Jan 01, 2024 (Staff)
Q
What is the RMS power handling range? Minimum RMS?
paul  Nov 14, 2023
1 answer
A
The Rockford Fosgate Power T1D412 subwoofer can handle a maximum RMS wattage of 800-watts, Paul. There is also no minimum wattage rating listed, and we have no way to determine a minimum wattage rating for acceptable performance as that depends on personal preference. If you are not planning on running 500 to 800-watts RMS from your amp with this speaker we could consider subwoofer options that work well on less power. I hope this helps!

Q
I have the P1000X1bd, the rms at 2 ohms on the certificate is 933rms. I watched multiple Rockford Fosgate videos. Am I able to keep the blue clipping light on without damaging the sub. Apparently with the correct tuning you are suppose to have the blue clipping light on for 1% thd. If the blue light is on while the sun is playing will it damage the sub? I don't want to damage the sub but want to give it what it can get. Thank you!
clayton  Jan 06, 2023
1 answer
A
The blue light should only illuminate while calibrating the amplifier with a 40Hz test tone. If the indicator is lighting up blue consistently during music playback, then it is possible that the amplifier or subwoofer could be damaged after long-term use. For just one anything between 800-1000 rms will be fine. I run two of these with a kicker KXA1600. Sounds great.

I'm running the Rockford fosgate 1500.1 power series amp and they sound great
michael  Dec 31, 2020
A
Match the RMS output rating of the amp to the RMS of the subwoofer. Can't lose.
phillip  Dec 31, 2020

I have the power 1000 unning 1 12 in a glk 350 and it's turned all the way down and it's hits so hard I had to install a bass control . I listen to my music loud all the time BTW. Power 500 would be perfect. Remember it's a deeper bass than the jl w6. So in my 2018 Honda accord I'm running 1 w6 and a jl 1000 watt Amp turned all the way down also . The w6 can't touch tge Fosgate set up
mike  Dec 31, 2020

I went the cheap route and purchased a hifonics zeus 1800.2. I have 2 of the Rockford T1's and they absolutely POUND! Hifonics amps will never reach their peak wattage so I oversized the amp to make up the advertised wattage. I installed everything a little over a year and a half ago. I'm an electrician so I do have some background knowledge of what you can and can't get away with. If you go with a fosgate amp ENSURE you match the RMS and ohms with the speaker as they are one of the best amps on the market. Overall, these are some of the best non-competition subs I have come across

No just voice coils. The amp kit that you buy has a fuse holder and fuse
michael  Oct 01, 2020
A
Yeah they have one and it come with a spare fuse
