As always, Rockford Fosgate hits hard

Bold design. Innovative use of materials. Pure, muscular sound. These are the hallmarks of a Rockford Fosgate speaker, and exactly what you'll find with the T2652-S component system.

Each 6-1/2" woofer sports a carbon fiber/polypropylene injection molded cone for stunning accuracy and powerful impact. The 1" tweeter offers the extended high-frequency response that only an aluminum dome can deliver, and several mounting possibilities give you plenty of options to dial in the high end. Rockford Fosgate's versatile external crossover also lets you bi-amp these components to deliver more power to your woofers and tweeters for enhanced performance.

Phase plug

The aluminum phase plug gives some T2652-S woofer some bling (and better sound dispersion).

Tweaks for the connoisseur

Rockford Fosgate knows a good thing when they've created it. You'll find their impressive VAST technology at work here, which uses the butyl rubber surround to increase the woofer cone area by 25% for better bass response. Rounding out the robust, polished look, Rockford has incorporated a billet aluminum woofer phase plug to enhance cooling, sound dispersion and . . . well, to just look awesome.

An easier install

Every installation poses little challenges along the way, and Rockford Fosgate has equipped the T2652-S system with some useful features to help. The woofers feature a slot mounted frame pattern to fit a wider array of factory screwholes in your car door. If speaker mount fabrication is a requirement in your car, Rockford Fosgate makes that job a little easier with the included Multi-OEM Adapter plate for woofers and their Discreet Dual Clamp design for tweeters. Grilles are also included for custom installation.

Installation note: You'll need a pair of our universal backstraps to install the tweeters in the factory locations.

Woofers

Woofers

Injection-Molded Woofers: The woofer cones are injection-molded carbon fiber filled polypropylene. This molding process assures a uniform cone thickness for superior linearity and clarity. It is also light weight and rigid for decreased distortion and improved bass response.

Rubber Surrounds: The rubber surrounds dampen unwanted harmonic distortion while maintaining linear geometry under extreme weather conditions. This leads to less distortion, superior frequency response, and superior durability.

Phase Plug: Each woofer's billet aluminum phase plug enhances voice coil cooling.

VAST Surround: The Vertical Attach Surround Technique (VAST) increases a speaker's effective radiating cone area without increasing the size of the basket.

FlexFit: The Flex Fit frame utilizes slots (where possible) instead of single screw sized holes; allowing slight adjustment of the speaker when mounted.

Klippel Verified: The Klippel distortion analyzer, a device that uses a laser and sophisticated software to do large-scale analysis of drivers in motion, lets Rockford Fosgate optimize the speaker's motor structure, voice coil alignment, and suspension to yield the best possible performance.

Size Classification Note: Some manufacturers, including Rockford Fosgate, call this size speaker a 6-1/2". Because it requires a larger cutout than a standard 6-1/2" speaker, Crutchfield has traditionally referred to this size woofer as a 6-3/4". Please refer to the Crutchfield Vehicle Selector to confirm fit in your vehicle.

Multi-OEM Adapter: For mounting flexibility, the included brackets allow installation in 6x9 applications. When using the brackets the mounting height is 0.611" and the depth is 2.344" (top mount).

Note: The bracket is generic (cutout sized for a 5-1/4) and requires modification before the T2652-S will fit into it.

Tweeters

Tweeters: The tweeters are 1" aluminum domes offering outstanding dispersion and clarity.

Mounting: The tweeters have multiple mounting configurations; choose flush or surface mount. The Discreet Dual Clamp (DDC) flush mount system provides concentric clamping pressure around the perimeter of the opening. The surface mount housing can be positioned at two angles, approximately 15° or 30° angle. Depending on the mount used, the installed dimensions are:

  Flush Surface 15° Surface 30°
Mounting Height 0.4" 1.043" 1.342"
Mounting Depth 0.903" Screw Depth Screw Depth
Frame Diameter 2.355" N/A N/A
Cutout Diameter 1.75" N/A N/A
Frame Width N/A 2.141" 2.141"
Frame Depth N/A 2.160" 2.155"

Tweeter Level: A switch on each crossover allows you to adjust the output level of the tweeters; -2 dB, 0 dB, or +2 dB.

Tweeter Axis: Another switch on each crossover adjusts the tweeter output for on axis or off axis placement.

Crossovers

Specifications: The crossover slope is 18 dB/octave high pass and 12 dB/octave low pass. The crossover point for both is 3 kHz.

Bi-amp: The crossovers have discrete inputs for the woofer and tweeter, along with a bi-amp on/off switch, so each component can be powered by an individual amplifier channel. (When using only two amplifier channels, leave the bi-amp switch off and use the tweeter inputs.)

Wiring: The crossover inputs and outputs are set screw clamps; they will accept bare wire up to 10-gauge.

Crossover Dimensions:

  • Width: 4-5/8"
  • Height: 1-3/8"
  • Depth: 4-5/8"

Customer Q&A

Q
I previously purchased this set of components. I am installing only one set of these speakers, will a 2-channel amp be capable of running these? I have a Rockford Fosgate Punch P300X2 amp. Thanks.
rupert  Feb 20, 2024
1 answer
A
A two-channel amp would be a great choice for driving just one pair of the Rockford Fosgate T2652-S components, Rupert. The T2652-S components can handle a maximum of 100-watts RMS, which is a perfect match for the rated output of the Punch P300X2 amplifier.

Q
Can my arc audio XDi805 amp power this and maybe a 400watts subwoofer? If not what other door speakers do you guys recommend?
neil  Jun 12, 2023
1 answer
A
Rockford Fosgate is always a good call, Neil! As far as on paper specs, they are also a great match for the listed 80-watts RMS per channel on the main channels of your Arc Audio XDi805. Make sure to use our handy Vehicle Guide in the link below to confirm these Rockford Fosgate T2652-S speakers are a fit in your specific vehicle! https://www.crutchfield.com/m_399/Car-Speakers.html

Q
Would you mind picking out 3 of your loudest most powerful 2ohm 6.5" and tweeters ?
amptatt  Jun 21, 2022
1 answer
A
Our three best options in a 6.5" 2 ohm component setup all come from Focal, and I'll link them all below! Outright "loudness" is a product of the power pushing these, so whatever amplifier you are using to power them will determine how loud any of these choices get, they can all handle 100 watts or more RMS power. These are some of the best sounding car speakers I have ever had the pleasure of hearing, so if you want the best from your setup and you need a 2ohm impedance these are the clear choice. I hope this helps Arthur! https://www.crutchfield.com/p_091ES165K2/Focal-ES-165K2.html?tp=78073 https://www.crutchfield.com/p_091ES165X2/Focal-ES-165KX2.html?tp=78073 https://www.crutchfield.com/p_091165WXP/Focal-Utopia-165W-XP.html?tp=78073

Q
Is it possible to run 3" deep speaker foam baffles? Are these speakers ok to run baffles like a sealed box in the doors?
jays2  Apr 05, 2022
1 answer
A
The woofers in this component speaker will work with 3" deep baffles or any variation on the gear behind it as long as there is enough room for the woofer. We have advisors here that can be reached by calling 1-800-324-9695 who can check our research on your vehicle to see if they can fit.

Will a boss 400 watt amp be good enough for just the two speaker?
wallace  Oct 19, 2021
2 answers
A
It will work as long as the amp is not 400 watts rms. These speakers are set to run 100 watts rms with a max of 200 watts per speaker. Make sure the amp is a 2 channel amp
tyler  Oct 20, 2021
A
If 400 rms yes it will work pretty decent!

Q
I currently have a 50W x 4 head unit in 2011 Toyota Tacoma Access Cab. This Rockford set would be the only speakers in my car: the 2 subs + 2 tweeters. Would an amp be necessary at this point?
siggy  Apr 13, 2021
3 answers
A
I don't think an amp is necessary. The head unit should be able to drive these speakers.
jim  Apr 26, 2021
A
Yes....to get the full sound from these component's you'll need an amp....I use the rockford Fosgate 400 watt prime series...they sound wonderful
robert j  Apr 26, 2021
A
It's not a requirement but they would sound way better with an amp. If you aren't going to amplify them I would buy a cheaper set of speakers.

Q
Dose one jbl club 704 amp have the power to run 4 Rockford fosgate T2652-s at 70 watts RMS x 4 @ 4 ohms. Or would I have to run the amp at 100 watts x 4 @ 2 ohms?
adam  Sep 25, 2020
2 answers
A
The JBL amp will be able to give these speakers enough power for to get clear sound! Its in the range we like to see amp power and speaker power. However, an amp that outputs 100 watts RMS x 4 at 4 ohms will make them play their loudest too. If you want this ability, I recommend contacting an advisor by calling 1-800-324-9695 to get a recommendation on an amp from our current choices
jason  Oct 18, 2020 (Staff)
A
Yes it will work fine . 100 watts per speaker is max . If you are going to max them out all the time then you might want a 100 watts per speaker .
mat  Oct 15, 2020
Q
Is an amp required to run these?
ethan  Jun 18, 2020
5 answers
A
They will function with the 30 to 40 or so watts from your head unit. But to take full advantage of them you need at least 75 Watts going to them. That said, I'm feeding them a hundred Watts at 4 Ohms each and they absolutely scream. These are rather pricey for component speakers and I think it would be a shame not to feed them the Watts they need in order to take full advantage of them.
rafael  Jun 19, 2020
A
Not required but recomended...and use a decent one...they sound fabulous with a 4 hundred watt amp....rms value that is
robert j  Jun 19, 2020
A
Hi Ethan, I am still waiting on my Fosgate amp and therefore haven't installed the speakers yet. I've read all the reviews on those particular speakers, and the general consensus seems to be that they really like, and sound better with more power. I've used other Fosgate speakers in the past, and currently have them in my Trans Am, also powered with a Fosgate amp 75amp x4. Love them!!
john  Jun 18, 2020
A
Yes
margarito  Jun 18, 2020

Probably not required, but certainly helps. I have them powered bi amp with 100 watts to each woofer and 50 watts to each tweeter. They scream! It's beautiful.

A
I would definitely recommend it. They will sound a lot better
austin  Apr 03, 2021
A
Yes
ryan  Jun 18, 2020
A
yes, they are the best.
godwin  Jun 18, 2020
A
no...you could run any speaker without an amp. You could even run it off a 9 volt battery. The thing is that you need to look at the RMS of the speaker rating and the speakers efficiency Rating. 87 is lower efficiency vs. 91 a higher efficiency rating. Neither is bad. Though the 91 rating will require a bit less amp power to sound louder. A speaker that has a RMS of 100 watts needs a 100 what amp, bare minimum of say a 70 watt amp. It requires this amount to move/drive the speaker to where its design functioning within the intended design envelope. I have these speaker and they are premium for the money and then some. For rock played loud and clean with some power they are the champoin.
robert  Jun 18, 2020
A
Yes, these require an amp. A 100 watt amp would be fine.

I have a Rockford Fosgate r2-200x2 amp, will this amp work well or have enough power push, with the T2652-s speakers?
anthony  May 31, 2020

You will want a 4 channel amp if your powering if you have 2 sets of theses. . In running 2 sets and 2 subs off a 5 channel. But is your just looking to power 1 set of theses speakers you will be fine

Q
Hello I am trying to hook up 4 of the t2652s component speakers I am trying too hook them up to a 2 channel the Rockford Fosegate T 400-2 can I run those in parallel making the amplifier see 2 ohm which would make them amp put out 200 Watts can I do that to the speakers please help?
jeffrey  May 17, 2020
1 answer
A
Yes I don't see why not. As long as they don't go below 2 0hm load that Rockford suggests. Although if these are the same speakers I have I would suggest trying just a pair. They can handle a good amount of power and really come to life when powered well. I had mine run off a 4 channel jl amp and ended up bridging for 150 watts each and they really came to life.
sadie  May 20, 2020

garland l  Apr 08, 2019

It's meant to be run at 4 ohms but if you pair it with another 2 ohm speaker it will still play. You really don't want to mix and match different speakers on the same amp channel.
