Discover just how good your CDs can sound
if you're looking to experience your music CDs with the utmost realism and clarity, check out Onkyo's C-7000R. This player's sole mission is to bring out the best, most detailed sound possible from your CD library. To achieve this lofty goal, Onkyo combined sophisticated circuitry, premium quality parts, and tank-like construction — creating a player capable of delivering superlative sonic performance that's sure to please even the most demanding listener.
A rock-solid build for audiophile-grade performance
Onkyo engineers designed the C-7000R with a zero-tolerance approach to performance-robbing vibration and electronic interference. Instead of a single, one-piece chassis cover that can resonate and transmit vibration, this player's massive 26-pound frame uses thick, separate aluminum top, front, and side panels to stop vibration its tracks. The die-cast aluminum disc tray further combats resonance, and employs Onkyo's silent disc mechanism for super-smooth and quiet operation. The C-7000R uses physically separate analog and digital circuitry with separate power supplies to prevent any interference. The analog power supply even features a shielded, toroidal transformer for exceptional low-noise performance.
Premium processing equals superior sound
The C-7000R's twin TI Burr-Brown PCM1792 DACs (one for each channel) run in a dual-differential configuration, ensuring high-accuracy digital-to-analog conversion and rejecting noise to provide stunningly lifelike music reproduction. Onkyo's DIDRC (Dynamic Intermodulation Distortion Reduction Circuitry) and thermally regulated high-precision clock mechanism dramatically reduce distortion and timing errors, commonly referred to as "jitter," for highly involving sound that will get your toes tapping.

Features
Disc Compatibility: The Onkyo C-7000R single-disc CD player will play Audio CDs and CD-R/CD-RW discs (12cm/8cm). It will also supports playback of MP3 (32-320kbps; 32/44.1/48 kHz) and WMA (32-192kbps; 32/44.1/48kHz) files recorded onto CD-R/RW discs in ISO9660 Level 2. The CD player can recognize up to 99 folders and up to 499 files per MP3/WMA disc.
Silent Disc Mechanism w/ Die Cast Tray: Affixed to four supports made of rigid machined brass, the C-7000R's CD drive provides excellent resistance to internal vibrations. Furthermore, the disc tray is precision engineered from high-rigidity, die-cast aluminum. Thanks to these advanced design features, the disc mechanism offers smooth and silent operation.
High-Rigidity, Anti-Resonant Chassis: The C-7000R features separate aluminum panels for the top, sides, and front to reduce unwanted vibrations caused by internal resonance. Compared to a one-piece chassis design, this construction method offers greater rigidity and improved noise reduction
Side-Mounted Circuit Board Construction: Rather than being directly connected to the chassis base, the circuit boards inside the C-7000R are cushioned by internal struts and affixed to the front, side, and rear panels. This method of construction prevents vibrations from the chassis from adversely affecting the circuit boards.
Separate Digital/Analog Circuitry and Transformers: To prevent unwanted interference, the C-7000R employs physically separate circuitry for digital and analog processing. The player also features separate transformers for digital and analog circuitry.
Massive Toroidal Transformer: The C-7000R incorporates a massive toroidal transformer for the analog circuitry that reduces magnetic flux leakage, improves efficiency, and keeps the power supply stable. For the digital circuitry, meanwhile, it employs a high-quality EI transformer.
Dual TI Burr-Brown 24-bit-/192kHz DACs (PCM1792): High-quality TI Burr-Brown DACs work to optimize analog audio performance on the C-7000R. The player incorporates two of TI Burr-Brown's flagship 24-bit/192kHz PCM1792 DACs. Although these DACs can process two-channel audio on a single chip, Onkyo employs separate chips for each stereo channel, to ensure the most accurate digital-to-analog conversion.
Thermally Regulated Super-Precision Clock: The C-7000R boasts an extremely precise clocking mechanism that controls and coordinates the timing of all digital signal processes, like how a conductor directs and coordinates the individual instruments of an orchestra. The C-7000R uses a state-of-the-art crystal oscillator that achieves a frequency deviation of +/-1.5 ppm at room temperature (much lower than with a conventional oscillator). Even in surrounding temperatures of -30°C or +80°C the frequency remains stable, with only+/-0.5 ppm of additional frequency deviation.
PLL (Phase Locked Loop) Ultra-Low Jitter Technology: Jitter is an unwanted side-effect of the digital-to-analog conversion process caused by fluctuations in the time domain of a digital signal. PLL ultra-low jitter technology reduces jitter by comparing the input and output phases of the digital signal and creating an accurate clock waveform. This enhances the precision of digital signal processing and noticeably improves perceived audio quality.
VLSC (Vector Linear Shaping Circuitry): In conventional digital-to-analog conversion methods, it's impossible to completely remove noise. This noise taints the analog signal and ultimately degrades the sound emitted from your speakers. With Onkyo's VLSC, though, data is continuously sampled between two discrete points (via a signal comparison generator) and the difference is joined with analog vectors in real time to produce a smooth output waveform. The VLSC digital-to-analog conversion method results in an accurate, virtually pulse noise-free audio signal that faithfully reproduces the acoustic detail and subtle nuances of all your audio sources, and breathes life into digital media.
DIDRC (Dynamic Intermodulation Distortion Reduction Circuitry): Since the advent of digital audio, signal-to-noise ratios have improved dramatically. However, the S/N ratio reflects static noise only, and takes no account of another type of noise that occurs as the byproduct of sound reproduction; dynamic noise. To reduce this type of noise, Onkyo has developed DIDRC technology for use in their hi-fi components. Despite being beyond the normal range of human hearing, frequencies above 100 kHz are susceptible to clock pulse and other forms of distortion from digital devices. Such distortion in the super-high-frequency range can generate "beat interference", which in turn affects the character of the original sound. By improving linearity and reducing distortion in the super-high-frequency range, Onkyo's DIDRC technology effectively reduces perceptible noise and delivers clearer audio.
Front-Panel LCD: The Onkyo C-7000R features a front-panel LCD which can display the following disc information - Time Elapsed/Remaining, File/Folder Name, Song Title, Artist Name, Album Name, and Sampling-/Bit-rate. You can adjust the brightness of the display from Normal, Dim, Dimmer.
Controls
Remote Control: The Onkyo C-7000R single-disc CD player includes an IR remote control for wireless operation of the player and basic playback functions of a connected USB memory device or Apple iPod/iPhone. There are also basic playback controls located on the player's front-panel.
Direct Track Access: The numeric keypad (0-9, >10) of the remote control can be used to directly access a track or file on a disc.
File/Folder Mode: During MP3/WMA playback, you can choose to search for files (songs) within a folder or on an entire disc.
25-Track Memory Playback: You can create a playlist of up to 25 tracks/files per disc.
Random Playback: In Random playback mode, all of the files on a disc are played back in random order.
Repeat Playback: In Repeat playback mode, you can playback an entire disc repeatedly, play one track/file repeatedly, combine it with memory playback to play a playlist repeatedly, or combine it with random playback to play all tracks on a disc in random order repeatedly.
Audio Filter: You can select what type of digital filter is applied to the PCM data prior to D/A conversion for analog input output; this will switch the response inside and outside the audible bandwidth. You can choose from Sharp (allows the band property up to 20kHz to be output almost flat) or Slow (allows for more precise sound image localization of each musical instrument).
Phase Switch: This setting configures the phase of the player's analog output. Use the Phase switch to obtain optimum sound quality from the player to your amp and speakers. You can select from Normal or Reverse.
Auto Standby Function: If the CD player is left stopped for approximately 30 minutes, the power will automatically turn off, placing the unit in Standby mode. If playback is simply pause, the power will remain on even after 30 minutes have elapsed.
