Features

Direct Drive: The Onkyo CP-1050 turntable features a super-smooth low-torque direct-drive motor that reduces low-frequency cogging noise as well as the high-frequency noise produced by some belt-driven designs which use a fast-spinning electric motor.

Quartz-Lock System: The Onkyo turntable is controlled by a quartz-lock system to ensure the aluminum platter rotates with utmost precision.

Die-Cast Aluminum Platter: The CP-1050 turntable's die-cast aluminum 12" platter and rubber slipmat provide stability and protection for your vinyl records.

Aluminum Tone-Arm w/ MM Cartridge: The S-shaped aluminum tonearm ships with a quality moving magnet (MM) phono cartridge. The supplied MM cartridge offers a wide frequency response and signal-to-noise ratio of over 60 dB.

Counterweight and Detachable Headshell: An adjustable counterweight system and detachable headshell allows the turntable to accept most popular aftermarket cartridges (sold separately).

33s & 44s: The Onkyo CP-1050 can play both 33s and 45s records (adapter included).

MDF Plinth: The turntable base is constructed from solid MDF (Medium- Density Fiberboard) and sits on four height-adjustable anti-vibration feet. The rigid structure helps to prevent unwanted resonances that can cause distortion in your music.

Gold-Plated RCA Outputs: Stereo gold-plated RCA phono terminals output clean and clear left and right channel signals to your external phono preamp, or your stereo amplifier or AV receiver with a phono input.

Customer Q&A

1 question already asked

Q
The reviewer said that Onkyo recommended a tracking force of 3.5 grams for the cartridge or the arm? The info doesn't say what make cart is, but I suspect it's a "cheapie." Also, the tone arm somewhat resembles that of a Technics SL1200 MK2, so I'm wondering if it's height adjustable.

The tone arm looks like a lot of those on DJ turntables. The head shell also appears to be compatible with the DJ tables and extra shells are cheap and available. It makes changing cartridges easy once the cartridge is properly aligned for correct tracking (need a special gage for that).

the arm does look like it came off A Technics, But for the money this Onkyo is top's in my book, don't forget this is direct drive. No Belt Old school at it best, Height or pressure on Lp Yes. you can adjust all you want. Greg

In addition to horizontal balance adjustments, you can also adjust the stylus pressure of the included tonearm from 0 to 4g which allows you to integrate 3rd party cartridges and match the appropriate stylus pressure value. My Bio: http://www.crutchfield.com/Support/Bio.aspx?bio=159
