This versatile mini system packs the technology you need to enjoy all your tunes with ease. Its premium-quality design and compact size make it a perfect choice for highly enjoyable listening in smaller spaces.

Lots of ways to listen

The CS-N755's built-in Ethernet connection makes it easy to stream online subscription music services like Pandora® Internet radio, Rhapsody, and SiriusXM, along with thousands of free Internet radio stations. Plus, you can tap into your personal music collection from a network connected PC. A front-panel USB input lets you connect a select iPod® or iPhone® and control it using the Onkyo remote. You can also plug in a thumb drive loaded with music and enjoy your favorites that way. There's even a free downloadable Onkyo remote app that lets you turn your iPod touch®, iPhone, or Android™ smartphone into a cool touchscreen system remote. The disc player handles standard music CDs, as well as home-burned MP3 discs. And the system's AM/FM tuner features 40 station presets to keep you in touch with local news, weather, and music.

Small system with a big sound

With no shortage of music to play, you'll need a system with speakers that can handle the action. Each of the included speaker cabinets boast a 4" cone woofer for potent bass and clear midrange, and a balanced 1" dome tweeter to supply smooth treble with plenty of detail. The CS-N755's amplifier technology comes directly from Onkyo's high-end audio components, using a symmetrical channel layout and short signal paths to reduce unwanted noise and interference while delivering powerful, well-separated stereo sound.

Audio Section

Symmetrical Designed Power Amplifier: The Onkyo CS-N755 is equipped with a 13 watt x 2 channel amplifier. Its symmetrical and uniform layout minimizes the chance of interference between left and right channels.

WRAT (Wide Range Amplifier Technology): WRAT is based around a low negative-feedback circuit topology that works to reduce signal noise and distortion across the frequency range. A "closed ground-loop circuit" design is employed, in which each circuit has a separate link to the power supply. This helps to cancel individual circuit noise and keep the ground potential free of distortion. High Instantaneous Current Capability (HICC) enables WRAT amplifiers to immediately cancel the speakers' reflex energy and instantaneously send out the next signal. The same high current better manages speaker impedance fluctuations, which can negatively affect performance.

3-Stage Inverted Darlington Circuitry: 3-Stage Inverted Darlington Circuitry is a core Onkyo technology incorporating a low-NFB (negative feedback) design that makes the sound more natural.

192kHz/24-Bit Audio DAC: The 192 kHz/24-bit audio DAC enables the best possible reproduction of standard and high-definition audio formats.

VLSC (Vector Linear Shaping Circuitry): Conventional D/A conversion methods reduce digital pulse noise at the conversion stage, but can't remove it completely. Previously only found on higher-end components, VLSC (Vector Linear Shaping Circuitry) employs a unique D/A conversion circuit to overcome this problem. Data is converted between sampling points and these points are joined with analog vectors in real-time to produce a smooth output wave form. The result is a virtually noiseless, smooth analog signal based on the digital source to bring out even the most subtle of nuances in your music, movie soundtracks, and even MP3.

Advanced Music Optimizer: While compressed music files may sound fine through the headphones of your portable digital player, the limitations of these files can be exposed when played back through a quality home entertainment system. This is because a significant amount of high-frequency bit information is lost during the file-compression process. To counter this, Onkyo has designed the Advanced Music Optimizer to compensate for lost bit information and improve the quality of compressed audio signals. This results in a clearer and more expansive sound. Also included in this technology is a loudness correction feature that further improves the audio character of compressed files. The Music Optimizer function only works with PCM digital audio signals with a sampling rate below 48kHz and analog input signals.

Tone Control + Phase Matching Bass Boost: You can independently adjust the Bass & Treble of the CS-N755 from -3 to +3 dB. Onkyo's Phase-Matching Bass Boost technology effectively preserves midrange clarity, allowing vocals and string instruments to sound natural while maintaining a smooth powerful bass response at all volume levels.

Direct Mode: When the Direct Mode is activated, the tone controls are bypassed, so you can enjoy the purest sound possible.

Analog + Digital Inputs: The Onkyo CS-N755 is fitted with both analog and digital audio inputs. There are 2 stereo RCA and one minijack (3.5mm) analog audio inputs. In addition, there is one optical and coaxial digital input.

Line Output: The CS-N755 is also fitted with an analog stereo RCA output for connecting a recording device.

Binding Post Speaker Terminals: There are color-coded, binding post terminals will accept bare-wire (up to 10AWG), pin-connectors, and banana plugs (single/dual).

Subwoofer Preamp Output: There is a mono RCA jack for connecting a powered subwoofer.

Headphone Jack: For private listening, the CS-N755 has a front-panel 3.5mm minijack headphone output. When headphones are connected, the unit's speakers are muted.

Two-Way Bookshelf Speakers: The CS-N755 comes with a pair of 2-way 4Ω bookshelf loudspeakers. The speakers feature a 1" balanced, soft dome tweeter and a 4" OMF (Onkyo Micro Fiber) woofer, loaded into a bass reflex enclosure with a rear-firing port. The included black cloth grilles are detachable. The speakers have binding post terminals that will accept bare wire (up to 10AWG), pin-connectors, spade-connectors, and banana plugs (single only) and come with two 6' lengths of speaker wire. Other speaker specifications include:

  • Impedance:
  • SPL: 83dB (1W/1m)

Q
Can longer lengths of speaker cable be used to accommodate placement beyond 1.8 meters?
robert  Dec 05, 2016
5 answers
A
Sorry I took so long to answer. I was blissfully unaware of the 1.8 meter limit or recommendation. I used quite a bit more. The original hook up was about 8' on one side and 12' on the other side. I was not able to keep the receiver centered due to limitations in the room I can't tell the performance has suffered. I did use 16 gauge Monster cable though. If any speaker cable came with the system, I didn't use it.

the cables are very long, i don't remember the exact length but they are very long

I would have to assume so.. as long as its quality cables

I don't know why it wouldn't work but I am not sure because I use only the speakers that came with the system.

vTuner Selections: Can I pre-program, save and label vTuner selections that my elderly parents will be able to easily use?
scott  Oct 07, 2016
4 answers
A
I really like my Onkyo, but I do not as a rule pre-program stuff. Sorry, since it is not my routine, I am unable to answer this question. But it is a very fine instrument
carl  Oct 11, 2016
A
Yes, you can pre-program, save, and label vTuner selections for your parents via the vTuner web portal which would be linked to their N755 tuner. Your parents could easily access the selections from a free Onkyo app for iOS or Android (I use an old iPhone 3GS, which works fine). Choosing selections from the N755's front panel is possible, but not very intuitive since it takes quite a few button pushes, though the remote control may make it easier. Also, note that while Internet radio stations, Pandora, etc. work well, SiriusXM Internet Radio hasn't worked with this tuner for the last year (it requires a firmware update from Onkyo, but Onkyo said in a support forum that they didn't know whether they would fix this issue). I find this somewhat unsettling for a radio that I bought just 2 years ago partly for this purpose.
bruce  Oct 09, 2016
A
The onkyo vtuner web site allows one to set up stations. You can set up multiple folders and name them as you wish, but I'm pretty sure that the station names come through as identified on vtuner. But you can set up a foleder for "classical", one for "news" one for Eastern European folk music", etc.
paul  Oct 08, 2016
A
First off. Its a great system with a great sound. We own 2 of them and we can stream via wi-fi to the system. That said it is not a very sophisticated system. Navigation is pretty primitive (you will have to arrow left and right on alphabets and numbers selecting individually just to search) and I wonder if elderly parents that are not savvy will have the patience on getting through it. I had to call tech services the first time to get the system to connect to my computer. In short, you can label the vTuner and save selections, but I have found that to be hit or miss and have figured out how to seek my radio station(s) in another way. Again its the system and unless you have some patience and time to learn this can be daunting.

It is very easy to connect your iPod Classic to this unit using the UBS cord that came with your device. The instruction manual states that the USB port on the front of the receiver should be used, not the one on the back. I hope this helps you.

really don't know because i don't use iPhones or iPods but when i was able to talk with a Crutchfield customer service employee and he addressed everything i asked to him, use the live chat they are very helpful, i hope you get your question answered ASAP have a great day and this unit is awesome
jeremy  Apr 05, 2016
A
I believe it will. Check the back of the receiver, it has many outlets. I checked before l bought the unit for satellite radio which I plugged in and it works great. There should be a picture on line that shows the back or call and speak to one of the techs very helpful. This is a great unit. I have been very happy with the sound

Optional Wi-Fi Adapter: Do I have to use ONLY the optional ONKYO UWF-1 for Wi-Fi connection? Can I use something very similar, like a different make / brand? Thanks, Eric

A
Unfortunately, I really could not answer that question. I was looking to purchase a system that could access internet radio and this fit the bill. I am not tech-savvy enough to take my chances on going out and trying other items that they did not recommend. I will say I love the system. It has a great sound and I have purchased 2 for different rooms. The internet access is a bit trickey, and a bit primitive, It sometimes takes a few tries to get the system to pick up the Wi Fi from our computer. Then there is the issue of how you access the radio stations you are looking for; its not as user friendly as I would think. But I could not find many systems that offered WI Fi for your radio. We live in Calif and my husband has a favorite radio station in New Hampshire. He did manage to find it. I also like to use my ipod on it as well, but again I will stress the manipulation of getting around my ipod through that system is not very intuitive. I have gotten used to the quirks though. Overall happy with the purchase. I know I cant say much about about Wi Fi adapters. But there were a lot of reasons to like this set up, albeit some compromises still it was worth it to me.
frances  Feb 24, 2016
A
I do not know for sure. But I do know that getting the Wi-Fi adaptor installed and working is a quirky process and I'd be surprised if a third party adapter could be used. The receiver interface on the end user side is pretty lacking and I doubt that it can interface with a range of adaptors. I'm pretty tech lit, but the install instructions for configuring the adaptor are not good and I needed help from Crutchfield Tech Support to get it done. (The help was very good, BTW). Not a clear cut answer, but I hope it helps.

I'm not sure. I purchased this system as a gift for an out of town family member.

Yes--on the back panel, there's an input labeled "Aux In" for a 3.5mm stereo minijack (the same size as used by MP3 players for headphones). You would just need a cable with a male 3.5mm plug at each end

It has a USB port in front, a USB port in back, and aux inputs in back. Should have plenty of options for whatever you need.

Yes, it does. My wife plugs in her iPod. Loves the sound of the music through the Onkyo CS-N755 too.

There are stereo rca jacks in the back that you can use to plug in a stereo rca to headphone jack cable. So yes you can use any device.

Q
I have an old JVC XL-MC334 CD changer (basically a 200-CD jukebox, currently hooked up to an older receiver and speakers). Is there a way to incorporate this component into this new system?

You will want to contact an Advisor by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat to discuss compatibility with your current gear. They will be able to discuss your current gear and see if this will integrate. If it does not, then they will also be able to discuss other options with you.

Can anybody comment on the quality of the FM/AM tuner? Thank you.

I can't comment on the quality of the tuner directly because with the network capabilities and vtuner for web radio, I opted to pull all radio over the internet. Tha works great and keeps me frpom fiddling with antennas and antenna placement to pull specific stations. Try vtuner to see if the stations you want to pull are listed. They probably are.

I think it is good. I live in a somewhat remote area (20 mile from the radio station) and the signal comes in clear. The tone and volume are good. I have not tried connecting it to the internet and probably won't. I also have not tried to receive an AM signal, only because I have not attached the AM antenna. Jerry

I am operating the unit in my basement, and the FM reception is surprisingly good. Can't comment on the AM reception. Overall I have been pleased with it- very good sound.

Q
Can I use the N755 just as a tuner and send the signal into a standalone amp through the line out? I'm worried the amplifier in this unit won't be strong enough to feed my bookshelf speakers (87dB/6.5" woofers). Thank you.

Sure--you can just use the N755 in line-out mode if you don't want to use its internal amp. In my case, the N755 goes directly to a pair of Infinity bookshelves and I also have it hooked up to a powered sub-woofer. It all sounds great to me.

Sorry, no clock. It is a nice system when paired with a powered sub.

No it does not. If powered in standby mode, it may say USB charging (if a device is plugged in) or show network connected indicator. Otherwise, blank.

Q
Is it possible to stream music from Ipad through this system wirelessly?

Yes, but the set up is very complex. I have to admit that I gave up after trying to synch my iPad to the Onkyo twice. The wired hookup is okay-- but the unit is very finicky about Pandora, Apple Radio and Spotify. I should also mention that I was somewhat disappointed with the OEM speakers. I have since replaced them with a pair of Micca speakers which are an improvement--but I am continuing to look around
