nice for 2006 Accord EX without nav
Written By

Nice unit, lots of good advice online for installation, sounds good, does what it should. Note: you do not have to remove stereo to install - just go as far as removing the CD storage compartment, then look up. If you have skinny fingers (or a friend who does) you can swap the plugs as needed. I ran the cable down under the shifter and cups, drilled a hole into the armrest storage compartment to store the SPEC unit, which is good in case I want to change the settings later. Another note: for the iPhone 3G, you need to get a different cable. On balance, another excellent Crutchfield purchase, good advice, good instructions.

2007 Honda Odyssey EX-L with factory RES/NAV/XM/in-dash 6 CD
Written By

I wanted to figure it out first before call to Tech Support. With Crutchfield Mastersheet and other online radio removal sheets, I took my time for the install in about 1 hour. I was aware of the fact that the charge cable won't charge my iPhone3G (back-ordered with Crutchfield). For my car equipped's radio, the plug you want to remove is the only white one (middle bottom) for NAV/XM and plug it to the 14-pin female connector on 45" CAS-H2Y cable. Plug the 14-pin male connector on 45" CAS-H2Y cable to the receptor at the back of radio (hence the "2y" in model PA11-HON2y).
Design Change Notice (insert as of 10-15-08): in order to improve the handling of Audiobook and to support streaming music downloads on iPhone or iTouch, the Hybrid Mode is deleted and design changes are also implemented to Playlist Mode. I went with config. A setup.
Config. A (summary of Playlist Mode operation):
DIP switch #1, #2=ON (factory default)
Disc 1 - Playlist #1 (HONDA1-my stuff)
Disc 2 - Playlist #2 (HONDA2-your stuff)
Disc 3 - Playlist #3 (HONDA3-this iPod interface rocks)
Disc 4 - Playlist #4 (HONDA4-good stuff)
Disc 5 - All songs from iPod (iPod locked; car cd buttons+steering wheel controls)
Disc 6 - iPod Direct (iPod unlocked; iPod controls+car cd buttons+steering wheel controls)
You must named it HONDA followed by number without spaces in iTunes; any verbiage after that is freeform text.
The unit works as expected flawlessly! No interruptions of NAV/RES/XM/CD!

2005 Honda Accord LX
Written By

Installation was fairly easy. Like other folks, I struggled figuring out where to place the unit. It ended up in the center console under the armrest. I ran the cable from the bottom of the radio down and alongside the shifter and under the cup holders. I drilled a 3/4" hole in the front of the console compartment next to the 12VDC power outlet. I cut a slit in a grommet, put it around the cable, and fit the grommet in the hole. I used Velcro to fasten the unit on the inside of the compartment. The iPod cable runs out of the front of the console.
Sound is outstanding. CD quality - assuming files in iPod are of same.
USA SPEC inserted a design change notice dated 10/15/08 that deletes the Hybrid Mode. There is a config A and config B in the change. Basically, you figure out if you want the RCA aux inputs off (config A) or on (config B). Config B uses disc #6 for RCA inputs. Otherwise, both configs allow for Playlist and Direct Mode.
I have no problems changing songs within the same folder in the iPod (i.e. playlist, artist, or album) using the SEEK/SKIP button on the radio in Direct Mode. Haven't tried naming playlists yet for Playlist Mode (HONDA1, HONDA2, etc.)
USA SPEC also inserted a notice pertaining to ordering a new iPod cable that will charge the Classic 120GB, 2nd gen Touch, 4th gen Nano-chromatic, and iPhone 3G. I have a Classic 80GB and it charges fine. I will likely order the new cable for my son's 2nd gen iPod Touch.

Wife Loves It
Written By
Dave, Sacramento, CA on Monday, October 27, 2008
My wife absolutely loves her new iPOD adapter. She owns an IPOD Video and the adapter does not display the song title or artist on the factory radio display. Just for information sake I set the adapter on Hybrid Mode and just to be fair I have yet to try direct mode. I'm not sure if this has anything to do with it but the steering wheel controls do in fact work as advertised. The installation was fast and easy. I think I spent about an hour and I was taking my time.

A good product
Written By
Patrick, St. Louis, MO on Wednesday, October 15, 2008
This product is a good one for those who want to control their iPods through their factory stereo and charge the unit at the same time. There are a few caveats:
1. There are delays when switching between songs
2. If you want a song to be played using this system, it must be on one of six playlists that begin with HONDA and a number (1-6)
3. NO DISPLAY OF ANY SONG INFORMATION OF ANY KIND ON THE FACTORY RADIO (no titles, albums, artists, etc)
There are also installation issues with my particular vehicle, a 2003 Honda Accord EX with Navigation. It is necessary to remove the below parts in addition to the trim panel surrounding the shifter, storage box ahead of the shifter, and small storage/power port ahead of the shifter:
1. Long gray trim panel that houses the display for audio info and climate control temperature as well as the center vents
2. The entire stereo/navigation unit from the dash
It is necessary to perform these steps beyond what is shown in the installation instructions because the connectors to the nav/radio/climate unit are on top of the unit NOT on the bottom as is indicated in the instructions. I assume the instructions show the smaller number of steps because the instructions are for a non-navigation car while these instructions should be specific for the type of stereo.
All of this being said, this beats using an FM modulator, cassette adapter, etc and gives you access to your iPod through your radio controls and steering wheel controls.
