A little buggy

Written By Gcs56, Annapolis, MD on Tuesday, August 11, 2015

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

A little buggy. It's locked up on several occasions with my iPhone 6. Turning the ignition off and back on resets it. I also have one in my 2005 Odyssey and it works great in that vehicle. Also should come with a lightening connector.

Pros: Works great when it works

Cons: No lightening connector. Intermittent lock ups.

Love this adaptor!

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

We added this adaptor to our 2005 Honda Odyssey to have the ability to plug in an iPod for long road trips. My wife has an iPhone 4s and I have an iPhone 6. The 4s works amazing with the plug provided. You can control the playlists and songs from the steering wheel controls. With the 6 I bought a 3.5mm to audio cord and plug it in. While it's not able to be controlled from the steering wheel, it still plays over the sound system.

Pros: Very easy to install. Small and compact unit will fit inside dash to hide. Controlling from steering wheel is awesome. Customer service was very helpful.

Cons: None.

Good So Far

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I like this product, well put together for the most part. Fits well in my 2006 Accord. I've been using it for about a month and it hasn't quit on me yet. Don't be a ding-a-ling, disconnect your battery prior to installation, follow the easy directions and you should be all set. I would have your radio code handy if you like listening to music.

Pros: Good materials, not cheaply thrown together. I see it lasting quite a few years.

Cons: The wires could be slightly better organized. Good overall.

Good product, but some functions of 7thGen Nano is lost

Written By KevinW, San Francisco, CA on Thursday, July 03, 2014

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I have had this for a number of years in my 2005 Accord EXL (dual climate control but no in-dash nav package). I have it wired to my factory radio and it takes over one of the XM bands just fine and the display does correctly show song info. The steering wheel controls work perfectly to control the iPod. During installation I did have problems with the XM radio sound coming in on top of the iPod music. I don't have the XM subscription so just unplugged the XM wiring harness from the back of the radio altogether and that took care of it and works great. Not sure what my work around would have been though if I were also using XM on the 2nd band of XM.

I originally had a 3rd Gen iPod Nano that worked with it seamlessly, with all radio controls running the iPod as advertised. I recently upgraded to the 7th Gen Nano and use a Lightning adapter plug and lost some control. Playlists are all recognized and work fine, but if you choose to play music either by artist or by album, then the tracks will only play in alphabetical order by song name, irrespective of what order they are in the iPod. Weird quirk. Kind of annoying but not a big deal.

Pros: Easy add-on to factory radio and allows steering wheel controls for iPod music.

Cons: 7th Gen Nano used with a lightning adapter has some compatibility issues

It works well with my 2007 Pilot

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Connecting the unit was easy once I got access to the back of the stock radio. I watched a video on the installation of a similar device which helped a lot. I used self-adhesive velcro (one can use strong two-way tape as well) to fasten the interface box to the heater/AC fan housing behind the glove compartment and ran the wire from under the glove compartment to the center console. It works flawlessly with my ipod. I should have done it sooner.

Pros: Easy connection to the factory radio. I use the ipod to control the playlist as one would while using headphones or bluetooth.

Cons: The price can be more competitive.

Not for my '07 Ridgeline

Written By JLM, Mandan, ND on Tuesday, October 15, 2013

Hook was easy with the provided instructions, but it did not work with my 2007 Honda Ridgeline RTS. The radio display did not correctly show the ipod music info and the volume of the ipod and radio had to be maxed out to even get a faint sound. Returned the USA Spec Interface and purchased a new radio with a built-in ipod jack. The price of a new radio was roughly the same cost as the interface, just made more sense to upgrade the radio/CD receiver.

Pros: Ease of installation.

Cons: Didn't work no way no how!

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Contrary to the info on the website, this works fine with my 2010 Odyssey with Navi and rear seat entertainment. Integrates seamlessly through the XM interface. Works exactly as described and I'm very happy with this purchase. Even allows charging for 30 min following turning the car off.

Pros: Integration with stock Honda components.

Cons: Some creativity required for where to run the iPod cable.

USA Spec iPod® Interface for Honda

Written By Jim P, Essexville, MI on Saturday, July 20, 2013

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Like the fact that Ipod is wired thru the aux jack outlet but can not operate the Ipod to manually select songs; if left in random search mode, it will only play songs based on alphabetical order of title. Do not have the song "face" showing on Ipod anymore, it only shows "device connected". I have to disconnect the Ipod, shut it down and then restart the Ipod to see my song library. And it is only available until the first song finishes. Overall, I like the interface but it is a real pain not to be able to select specific songs without the shut down process as described.

USA Spec iPod Interface

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I installed this in a 2008 Honda Ridgeline RTS with 6 CD changer, XM ready, and no nav unit. I used it with an iPhone 4S. Removal of the trim and the radio was simple. I plugged into the empty jack on the back of the radio, reinstalled the radio and trim, and was all set to go...until I realized my radio code was in a folder at home. Once the code was entered I was up and running. I used the PlayList + Direct mode and my radio and steering controls all work as the manual suggested they would. As this is my first day using the unit I can't judge its longevity. Therefore I have only given it three stars. I'll try to remember to do a follow-up a year from now.

Pros: Hardwired iPod interface without replacing the factory radio (which would cause me to lose back speakers and subwoofer).

Cons: Manual is not very user-friendly but then again, neither is itunes 11!

Nice while it worked

Written By Jim from Texas, Houston on Sunday, May 12, 2013

I'll give it a 2 but that's generous. Installed in my Honda S2000, it was a tight fit. Worked well while it did. After about 6 months the left channel started getting fuzzy. After about 9 months it was difficult to get started, but worked once it finally connected. After about a year it destroyed my iPod Classic and quit working. That was about a year and a half ago. Too expensive to even bother to fix and USA Spec isn't really interested in product support.

Pros: Works great for 6 months. Relatively easy to set up.

Cons: Quits working after 6-12 months and destroys your iPod when it does.

Fails after 1 year

Written By Greg, Colorado Springs on Monday, April 01, 2013

This product failed after one year. USA SPEC says too bad, I can RMA it and for $75.00 they will fix and send back. already spent too much on it. Try a different company, maybe have better luck.

Pros: Fine while it worked.

Cons: Fails after one year.

beats replacing the Head unit

Written By Zaeemrk46, Yonkers NY on Tuesday, February 26, 2013

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Installation was easy except for a dumb mistake I did. I connected the cable to the radio and then tried snaking it. Well, the wire when connected to the car is energized and when I snaked it to the glove box I hit a piece of metal which caused the cable to start melting (yes smoke and couple of the wires melted). I ended up calling USA SPEC and they sold me a replacement cable (CAS-H2y). Once I got it, I redid the installation but this time I snaked the cable before connecting it to the radio. Worked like a charm. Text display worked but whenever I listen to Arabic songs the display shows "????????? ?????????" this is not a complain the display is a simple LED display, I'm just giving my experience.

Pros: Works great and now the XM/AUX button on the radio has a purpose.

Cons: The Crutchfield instructions did say to disconnect the negative line from the battery to avoid what I did, my fault. But, usually when you design any plug and socket you make it that the socket is what has the power to avoid any kid of shorting out. So the cable coming from the radio should be the socket and the unit should have the plug. Especially that this unit installs in a car which has lots of vibrations and even after installation the wire can come out and energized pins can touch ground.

Easy Installation

Written By Blake, Austin, TX on Sunday, January 20, 2013

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Very easy installation, and great sound. The basic Honda Accord radio is a simple one plug in from the adapter.

Pros: easy install & great sound. No need to remove the radio as the plug was easily accessible under the radio. Check out install video's on YouTube for more information.

Cons: None

USA Spec iPod® Interface for Honda

Written By Mike L, Rochester, NY on Sunday, January 13, 2013

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

It's a decent solution, though it took a lot longer to install and configure than was suggested by the Crutchfield rep. The instructions included with the device are written with the assumption that you have Nav or a CD changer - not until you get to the very end does it indicate what the configuration for a single-CD radio is. And even then, it is only parenthetically mentioned. In the end though, it worked out and it does what I want it to.

Pros: Integrates with the factory radio; charges the iPhone; allows playing of music and podcasts

Cons: Doesn't integrate with speakerphone (when you use speakerphone, sound comes out of the iPhone); doesn't allow use of both an iPhone and a different source without reconfiguring the DIP switches.

Caution With iPhone 5

Written By Fred W., Canton, GA on Friday, January 11, 2013

This is a follow up review. Upon installing the USA Spec ipod interface, my son's iPhone 5 only played through it for a day, then it stopped working. Upon further research, we have learned that this phone is not compatible with the ipod adapter. Not sure why it worked, even for a day. We believe the issue is with the phone and not the interface. It appears that in order to make the unit work, a "Lightning to 30 pin" adapter (fits between the phone and supplied ipad cable) is required. This item costs approximately $30.00. We plan to pick one up this weekend and give it a try. Will post again with results. We called Crutchfield initially thinking the interface we received was defective. They promptly sent out a replacement ...great Crutchfield service. Unfortunately, we had the same results with the new unit. The 3 star ranking is because I feel that we should have been notified up front of the potential incompatibility issue. Stay tuned for a future update.

Pros: Appears to be a well built item. Fantastic Crutchfield customer service!!

Cons: Apparent incompatibility issue with iPhone 5 w/o modification.

Bad Experience

Written By Rob C, Hartford, CT on Sunday, January 06, 2013

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Unfortunately, I was unable to use this product. I had a rather difficult time removing the trim ring around the stereo and when removing it, the clips ended up falling into the dashboard, which resulted in a painfull search. Anyway, once I removed the stereo, I followed the schematics provided, only to find that the factory plug would not mate up with the one on the I-Pod adapter. Needless to say, I had to button things up without installing the unit. I don't understand, after specifying my vehicle when ordering, they send me the wrong unit. I plan on returning it for a full refund...Wouldn't have guessed this would happen with such a reputable company like Crutchfield!

Great iPod interface

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I bought the Honda iPod interface for my daughter. I had looked at a few other options, but liked that USA Spec iPod® Interface for Honda maintained control through the existing Honda System. She just left on a trip and had really made good use of it. She mainly uses the interface for her iPhone. Works great! This was a great Crutchfield experience as expected. Technical Support was of great help prior to making my purchase.

Pros: Great interface product.

Cons: Can not display song titles on existing Honda system - Not XM or Nav.

Wow....Great Item

Written By Fred W., Canton, GA on Thursday, December 27, 2012

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I've purchased several items from Crutchfield and again they recommended an excellent item. We were looking for a way to allow my son to use his ipod in his 2004 Honda Accord with the factory radio without going to the trouble and expense of putting in a new head unit with associated hardware. The USA Spec interface was just the ticket. I ordered the product about two weeks before Christmas and we received it in two days. Christmas day we had the family over and with the help of my brother in law, who is a Honda technician, we had the adapter installed inside of 30 minutes. My son's car does not have the XM option so the included adapter for cars with XM wasn't needed. We simply plugged the adapter into the factory connection located on the bottom of the radio, drilled a small hole in the back of the storage compartment to allow the ipod cable to pass through and that was it! The grin on my son's face when he turn on his first song of head banging crap was definitely worth the little cost and time of adding the ipod interface. Well done Crutchfield. I'll be in touch when we are ready for our next upgrade.

Pros: Simple plug & play installation. Works exactly as described.

Cons: I'm regret waiting so long to order.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I ordered this because we were sick of paying for XM and getting the same songs over and over. After placing the order, I check out a couple of youtube videos to get some tips on installing the device. Once it arrived, it took thirty minutes out of my morning to perform the entire operation of removing the car panels, taking out the radio, installing the wiring and re-installing the radio plus paneling. Now we are XM free and the device works as advertised.

Pros: Really Easy to Install Artist/Album/Songs are easily to control with XM display Great Price

Cons: Could use a youtube video for installing the device. i found one but the guy was using a competing product.

Very happy

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The unit works as promised. It saved me the hassle of replacing my factory stereo and the small fortune it would have cost. It was really easy to install, my only complaint would be that the instructions provided with this tell you that you need to plug the wire harness into the back of the factory stereo which was not the case. It had to be plugged into the bottom and didn't find that out until after the pain of unplugging it.

Pros: Charges the Ipod, you can still use the stereo controls on the steering wheel and able to control the ipod with its touch screen

Cons: None that I can think of.

Very good product for streaming Pandora from an Android phone to my factory Honda Accord stereo. I-Pod connectivity works well too. Search You Tube videos for a little more installation help if you need it. I was getting static but I turned off all bass boost and range compression on my phone and now it works great.

Pros: Small size, quality, instructions

Pros: Great Sound. Pandora Compatible with iphone

Works with 2006 Honda Pilot and BT35-HON

Written By Pilot06-Accord01, Antioch, CA on Friday, August 03, 2012

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Added USA-Spec BT35-HON and PA15-HON2 to XM ready factory radio on 2006 Honda Pilot w/o nav. Radio trim panel removal was straightforward, but to install BT35-HON mic over the rear-view mirror, I had to remove the A-pillar panel, which was challenging. To remove A-pillar panel, first remove door weather stripping, then pull hard to remove A-pillar panel. There are 2 clips in the A-pillar panel, expect to break the the top clip of the A-pillar panel, so buy one beforehand (although, once you push back the weather stripping, the A-pillar stays in place without the top clip).

Connect the BT35-HON first. Connect CAS-H35 cable to the XM slot on factory radio and BT35-HON. Then connect CAS-H2Y cable to CAS-H35 cable and PA15-HON2. BT35-HON dip switches should all be set to off. PA15-HON2 dip switches should be 1 & 3 on and 2 & 4 off. Connect mic to BT35-HON. Connect iPOD cable to PA15-HON2 (purchase 3.5mm to 2 RCA cable separately if you want to use the aux connection).

PA15-HON2 has excellent sound quality. PA15-HON2 supports iPOD text and can be controlled with either radio or iPOD directly.

Initial pairing with Motorola Droid 2 Global phone with BT35-HON took a few tries, then it was smooth. BT35-HON does NOT support text, there is NO caller ID. The BT35-HON rings over the factory radio and announces the phone number. Calls can be answered with the radio or phone. Outgoing calls must be made with phone. Excellent call and bluetooth audio streaming quality.

Pros: Decent price. Good sound quality. Works with BT35-HON. Allows you to keep factory radio (you lose sub-woofer and steering wheel controls if you replace factory radio).

Cons: iPOD radio control is not intuitive, better to control iPOD directly than with radio.

Works Sometimes

Written By Anonymous, Glendora, CA on Friday, July 13, 2012

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The installation looked tricky to me so I had it professionally installed at Best Buy. The product worked very well for the first 3-4 months. Now I have had the product for about 5 months and it does not work well at all. When I plug in my device (iPhone) it often does not detect or start playing music. Sometimes the music will start playing on my phone but only come out of the speaker on my phone. I can usually get it to play music after 2-3 tries of plugging it in over and over. Also, sometimes the music stops playing if I pick up or move my phone. I wish it still worked as well as it did at first!

Pros: Worked well at first and sound quality was good!

Cons: Is very finicky within 6 months of use.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

So far, I've two of these from two different retailers, to no avail. I brought both to two different install centers and neither have had any luck getting it to work. I even called USA Spec directly last week after the first debacle, just to get an understanding of whether they knew of variability in the factory stereos for my make/model/trim that has caused installation issues in the past. Of course I can't rate this thing more than 1 star given my experience. A let down; we are headed to Michigan on Thursday (700 miles, one way). I guess I'll be stuck with CDs (what are those?)

Pros: None that I can list

Cons: Simply doesn't work

Easy to install (1hr including CK3100) and works great!

Pros: Quick install No static Multiple inputs for different devices

Cons: Direct (charged) connection to the radio requires predesignated playlists as you have no control over the music on your phone other than the stereo. Not a huge issue as you are able to browse music on your phone when using the headphone jack (Secondary RCA Aux Input) and charge from an alternative power source. (04' Honda Accord, CD/AUX, Single Climate Control).

2008 Honda Accord EX

Written By Texas Hunter, Dallas, TX on Tuesday, April 17, 2012

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Excellent device. It performs exactly as advertised. It was simple to install. A couple of items when installing in a Honda Accord without navigation or XM. The book that comes with the USA Spec device tells you how to set the dip switches and it wants you to use the disk changer mode. This works fine except it does not allow you to see album info. I chose to set it up as XM mode. This works great the only issue is if you switch from the Ipod to another device you have to unplug and replug the ipod back in to get it to recognize. Bonus Pandora works great and it displays album, song and artist info.

Pros: Solid device, Crutchfield's Spec sheets are very helpful, small size makes it easy to mount anywhere under the dash (i mounted mine by the E-Brake and ran the cable through the cup holder.

Cons: If using disk mode when setting up you do not get album information

I am so happy I bought this product and went ahead with installing it. I now have iPod input to control through the radio. I have the direct mode option to control on my iPhone. AND an aux plug for a friend who has a droid (who knows). There are no limits anymore.

Pros: Nothing.

Cons: Does not come with the aux plug. I recommend going to radio shack and getting their 6 food right angle plug. Hint: it fits perfectly in an iPhone spec case.

Works Great on '06 Accord with Navi

Written By MikeD, Boston, MA on Monday, April 02, 2012

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Just installed this last night, and it works well with my iPhone 4. I haven't tried it yet with my kids' iPods. Steering wheel controls even work to skip to next/previous song. Album, artist and song title are displayed on the Accord's radio in all modes except "Direct Mode" (which seems strange). It wasn't clear whether or not I needed to use the small orange XM wire. I couldn't get it to work initially until I connected it. (Careful with the small connector on the wire. Once you plug it in, you have to disassemble the end plate to get it out again.)

Pros: Displays iPod text on car radio! Has modes to let you control your iPHone/iPod from the radio or from the iPod itself. Small size lets you stash it away under the dash easy.

Cons: Pretty laggy. It takes several seconds for the radio display to respond when the buttons are presses. (This may be a Honda issue.) The extra wire harness & connectors needed for XM equipped radios were difficult to fit. I almost gave up! There is a strange incompatibility with the Accord's radio that crashes the radio when you go from XM1 to XM2 when the iPod is plugged in. You have to press "Audio" again bring the radio display back, then it seems to work okay. (Again, maybe a Honda issue?)

The adapter works as advertised, although there's some flickering and delay in the display when using my Honda radio controls. Crutchfield's installation instructions were fantastic. The USA-Spec instructions (on wiring, configuring, and using the unit) are terrible; Crutchfield should lean on them to provide clearer and better-written manuals. Advising, ordering, and shipping processes from Crutchfield were top-notch, as usual.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Previously tried iPod/iPhone connection with vehicles using FM transmitter but that had such poor quality. Bought USA Spec kit which arrived quickly. Installed in Honda Odyssey in less than an hour with only minor challenges mostly related to deciding how to bring wire out of dashboard (selected under console at carpet rather than drilling hole below radio). Quality of sound output is great and like the ability to choose among playlists/artists/albums or all songs. Only real improvements could be nice to provide something like a velcro patch to stick the module inside the dashboard as it does rattle sometimes on rougher roads and iPod/iPhone connector cable could be about 18 inches longer. Overall performs as expected and pleased to recommend to others.

Pros: Sound quality, control features

Cons: Could have clearer instructions (install & operation), longer device cable

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The USA Spec PA15-HON2 is a superior addon for radios that do not have USB/AUX connections. I installed it in my 2007 Honda Odyssey EX-L that has XM, RES, 6 CD Changer, and NAV. The only thing missing was the iPod connector. The instruction manual is descent enough to get you installed and operating everything correctly, but don't count on using it for detailed instructions on your specific vehicle. I found the GTA kit online that offers an installation video on my exact vehicle. Funny thing is that the USA Spec kit states GTA Car Kit when I first turned on the car to check operation. This kit can be used as either XM1 or an additional CD player. I installed it as XM1 for the text display function, which is near perfect. If you do the CD function, it will only display track numbers and not any information on the songs playing. The total installation was about 2 hours, but I took my time to figure out where to install the box and iPod cable. In the end, I stowed the interface box behind the passanger center kick panel for easy access to it if I need it later. The cable comes out over the panel and lays in the center out of the way. Not very clean, but I did not like the idea of drilling holes or having the glove box open (especially if someone is sitting there). The controlls are fairly easy to navigate once you figure them out on your specific vehicle. Overall, a great addition to any factory radio. Charges and plays your music with excellence!

Pros: Easy to install, works flawlessly with factory radio, makes your sound system actually sound "better" with iPod, long cables, AUX connection available, quality "feel" of hardware, no need for extra parts, integrates with XM text settings on NAV, and works/charges with my iPod Touch 4th Gen/iPhone 4S.

Cons: Controlling iPod/iPhone by radio & steering wheel is not very straight foward, instructions are acceptable but not clear and concise, no AUX cable included, and costs the same or more than a new radio.

Great Product

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Product was easy to install, especially with the information sheet sent by the crutchfield team. Installed in Honda Accord flawlessly and works great - easy to use, also has a great quality of sound.

Pros: Easy to install. Great sound. Charges while connected.

Works Out Of The Box in 2006 Odyssey

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I purchased this product for my wife's birthday for her 2006 Honda Odyssey EX-L RES without nav. I watched a video on YouTube of an install of a similar product, and I knew it would not be hard. I did purchase a panel tool separately so I could easily open the dash. It installs as the instructions say, and I did NOT install the relay in the instructions.

The factory DVD RES still works as it did before as do all the other functions. I really like that when you plug in the IPhone, the interface starts playing the last song immediately.

It works with Pandora and TuneIn radio. With TuneIn radio, it even displays full information on the display about the station (just like an XM station).

Pros: Installation Ease; Works with iPhone 4/4S; Long cable; Control via radio's XM1

Cons: Installation manual "simplifies" look of radio: there were more connectors than labeled

Great addition

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

My fiancee and myself both love the product. I installed this into her Honda Accord 2005 with very little effort. It gives us the ability to hook up our iPods and use our android phones through the aux port. She has wanted an aux port for some time and with all the local installer saying they didn't have anything that could do this. Found this product and would suggest to anyone. Nice that it allows you to keep using the XM (one set of presets) and navigation as well.

Pros: The ease of installation, the ability to use both ipod and auxiliary.

Cons: Nothing that I can think of.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The included crutchfield instructions were excellent as always. The manufacturers instructions for settings were a bit confusing, but i figured it out. I would say install can be done in about 40 minutes. I put my control box behind a panel next to the gas pedal. (so its easy to get to if needed) Just had to remove a piece of styrofoam to get a good fit.

Pros: -Easy install -Pandora works with it -You can listen to youtube content

Cons: -Price -Confusing dip switch settings

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The device works great and as advertised. The installation was fairly easy and would have not taken near as long if I hadn't dropped a radio mounting screw down in the dash (my fault). The DIP switch settings in the manual did not work for me as stated, but was fairly easy to figure out (1-2 on and 3-4 off worked for me).

Pros: Works great and keeps my iPhone and iPod charged. Music sounds great!

Cons: Dealing with the DIP switches. But with that said, I would still buy this product again.

Saved $$$ over new radio!

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I was looking at replacing my stock radio on my '06 Honda CR-V. I couldn't find one model that had all of what I wanted, and to get the things important to me would have cost at least $800. All I really wanted to do was to dump the headphones I was using with my iPod/iPhone. While a whole new radio would have been nice, this cable works great and fit the bill.

Installation was a breeze - the hardest part was routing the iPod cable from the radio to a spot where it could be hooked up. Even made a call to tech support mid-install to make sure we had the DIP Switches set correctly.

I wouldn't have wanted to do this without the Crutchfield team. They rock. It came with a very detailed instruction sheet on taking my specific dash apart. Plus some other instructions I wouldn't need for this install, but to file away for another time should I decide to replace speakers.

Control of your iPod is easy via the CD changer buttons and the seek button. One controls your playlist, artist, album and song categories. Another allows direct control of your iPod.

And the charger charges when the car is off, but will power down after 30 minutes of inactivity. No worries about it draining your battery.

Sound is great, tho you will have to turn up the volume a bit more than when listening to the radio directly. I've found no problems with response time in changing playlists or skipping songs.

Over all, for now, I am very happy with the unit.

Good for iPod BUT not for connections through A/V

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I bought this adapter so I could use my ipod and android cellphone. iPod connection worked perfectly (still need to figure out how to best use the controls of my radio to control the ipod). However, the A/V optional connection reduces the volume levels. I've tried it with different devices and different cables, they all produce same reduced volume levels. So... since I can't split the rating to 2.5, I have to "raise" it to 3 stars for being a good ipod connector.

Works great

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I have a 2005 Accord EX-L without NAV and with XM and had been considering putting in an aftermarket system until I found this.

I admit I was nervous about disassembling chunks of the dashboard, but the spec sheet made it very easy. I know that some folks said they didn't have to remove the radio, and while that is true for the most part for me as well, I did have to slide the radio/climate control system somewhat out of the dash so I could unplug the wire in the back (there just wasn't enough wiggle room to loosen the cable when it was fully installed).

The entire process took under an hour, and it works as advertised and sounds great. I highly recommend this as an alternative to a new system if you're just looking to integrate an ipod.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This thing works exactly as I would expect. Installation is fairly easy...hardest part is trying to figure out where to place all the extra wires. Changing a song with the steering wheel or radio controls is fast, I did not notice a delay like some people complained of. I think the product is overpriced for what it is, but they provided a product that I wanted and it works great. I would recommend this product to others and would buy it again if I had to.

Works great, could use improvement...

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The USA Spec iPod/iPhone/iPad interface sounds great with all three types of devices. It was very easy to install in my 2007 Honda Accord EX (standard transmission). I actually found a youtube video for my exact model car. My only suggestion is to make sure you get a good quality prying tool, as most of the work involves carefully prying off plastic panels rather than using any tools.

As far as the device itself, it works pretty well. As another reviewer mentioned, the device, very annoyingly I might add, can not start off in direct mode. This means almost every time you plug it in the device begins playing the "All Music" playlist, resulting in playing the exact same song every time. This means having to press CD -/+ to change to disc 8, which is direct mode... and THEN selecting the song on your device. I've been tempted to make a silent MP3 title "AAAAAAAA" as I'm sick of hearing the same ten seconds of one song. In my opinion, a little QA on USA Specs part could have gone a long way here, if they allowed one of the DIP switch settings to default to direct mode the problem would be solved.

Direct mode is pretty much the only useful mode on an iPhone, as iPod, iPod voice control, Pandora, and other apps will do nothing otherwise. Also while in direct mode, sometimes I have to press the next track button a couple of times for the iPhone to pick it up.

Works as described
