All you need is a smartphone and a UE Boom, and you've got a party.

Listen in stereo or double the volume

Want it loud? With the UE BOOM app, you can stream simultaenously to two UE BOOMs and double the volume. Or use the app control to make them a stereo pair for a more refined listening experience.

Have a ball or take a call

If a call comes in on your smartphone while you're using the BOOM, you can take it. The BOOM has a built-in microphone so you can use it as a speakerphone.

High-energy sound

Two 1-5/8" full-range drivers give you full-bodied sound, with two 2" passive radiators to reinforce the low tones. You'll hear your music loud and clear, delivered with plenty of punch.

Built for action

The BOOM has a tough, acoustic skin with a plasma coating. That makes it not only water resistant, but stain resistant, too. Where's the volume control? You can't miss it! Just look for the big plus and minus on the side.

UE Boom portable Bluetooth speaker

You can pair two devices simultaneously with the UE BOOM app.

A sturdy D ring at the bottom of the BOOM makes transport easy — just clip on a carabiner and hook it to your belt loop or backpack. It even has a tripod mount so you can set it up for some hands-free partying.

Features

Bluetooth Speaker: The UE Boom is a self-powered, portable Bluetooth speaker that is ideal for your Bluetooth enabled smartphone, tablets, players and other devices. It supports Bluetooth A2DP music streaming and Bluetooth HFP hands-free communication.

  • Bluetooth A2DP: The UE Boom streams stereo music wirelessly from Bluetooth enabled devices such as your Apple iOS device, Android smartphone/tablet, Blackberry, computer/PC, or other devices. You will continue to use your Bluetooth-enabled device to navigate your music and to view song/artist information.
  • Bluetooth HFP: The UE Boom features Bluetooth HFP and an integrated dual microphone so you can use the UE Boom as a wireless speakerphone for your Bluetooth-enabled smartphone. The UE Boom will automatically pause the music to let you take your phone call. You will continue to use your Bluetooth-enabled device to view video calls, manually enter phone number, and control advanced phone functions.

Multi-Device Pairing: Up to 8 Bluetooth enabled devices can be paired with this unit and up to 2 devices can be connected simultaneously. However, only one Bluetooth device can be played at a time. Once paired, the UE Boom will automatically re-connect with your device when in wireless range (up to 50').

Note: Due to the differences in Bluetooth technology, some Bluetooth enabled devices may be incompatible, function improperly, or may not support all features when used with the UE Boom.

Water/Stain Resistant:: The UE Boom Bluetooth speaker is water- and stain-resistant, so you can take it with you outdoors on the porch, patio, or deck.

Stereo Sound: The UE Boom features two 1.625" full-range drivers and dual 2.0" passive radiators for dynamic sound from a compact speaker.

Auxiliary Input: In addition to built-in Bluetooth, the UE Boom is fitted with a 3.5mm auxiliary input for connection of almost any portable audio player with a headphone output.

Boom App: You can download the Boom app onto your Apple iOS device (from iTunes) or Android device (from Google Play) for playback of two UE Boom speakers simultaneously from one device. The two speakers can be set up so each speaker plays back both left and right channels (Double Sound), or setup so one speaker acts as the left channel and the other plays the right channel (Stereo). Compatible with iPod touch, iPhone, and iPad (running iOS 5.1 or later). Compatibility with Android varies by model.

LED Indicators: LEDs indicate power, charge, battery life, and Bluetooth pairing/connectivity.

Rechargeable Battery: The UE Boom has a built-in rechargeable battery that provides up to 15 hours of playback time on a single charge. The battery is easily recharged from the included 4' micro-USB to USB cable and AC power adapter. By pressing the speaker's volume up/down buttons together, you will hear a voice prompt indicating the percentage of battery life left. To save power, the UE Boom will turn off automatically after 15 minutes without music or user interaction.

D-Ring: The Bluetooth speaker has an integrated D-ring if you want to attach a lanyard (sold separately).

You get what you pay for...have had cheaper Bluetooth speakers that were okay for small rooms. The UE Boom has great range and tone is worth the money. Fits in a golf cart drink holder so I take it on the course, to the lake, in the yard when I working etc. Love this little speaker.

Pros: Ease of set up and use, 360 directional sound, size, and quality.

Cons: None that I've found yet.

Worth every dollar!! I listened to the Mini Bose and the JBL blutooth speakers before making my purchase. I choose the UE Boom because it does bass, highs/lows and looks the best overall. So pleased that I ordered another one within a few days of my original purchase....not that I needed another one but just curious to see how 2 Booms would sound together!! Totally satisfied and pleased with this little, big speaker!!

Pros: The ideal speaker for traveling and shape makes it easy to store.

Cons: Price is alittle steep but you get what you pay for...

Pros: sound, toughness

Cons: none

Awesome speakers, buy pair!

Written By Enrique1979, Hollywood, FL on Monday, November 24, 2014

This is my first review on Crutchfield so I'll make it brief. I bought the Mini first but returned it for this one. Much better overall sound. 90% of the time you'll have no problems with minor connectivity issues like one speaker fading in and out, but it might be interference or your device. Tried on both iOS and Android with the app. Most of the time I use the standard EQ setting. The Stereo with two really works and it's a fulfilling sound even at higher volumes. You'll get distortion of course at maximum levels but that's pretty much with any speaker. I like the bass as it's not boomy or overpowering unless your recording is "bassy". You'll get better sound on some genres if you use a dedicated EQ like in Google Music one in Android "Unique". It gives it a "higher fidelity". In the looks department this is a killer. I took it to work and have gotten so much compliments on it's look as well as the way it sounds. I mostly play "Vallenato" music which it's tricky to get the right sounds but so far they have performed well. Battery life has been good overall except in high volumes as expected. I try not to let it discharge past 50% as their recommendation. I haven't gotten them wet therefore I can't speak on their waterproofness. Overall I rate this a 5 star. Just wish their next version has "lossless codecs". Pamper yourself and don't hesitate to get these.... You can't go wrong.

Pros: Awesome sound for these "bottle speakers". NFC connectivity, Stereo (true) when two are connected, battery life at lower volumes, design, color options, USB cable and charger included, well designed case, alarm feature

Cons: Few... Some connectivity issues while using two, shorter battery life at higher volumes, no "lossless" codecs, no "stereo" when connecting via AUX (only through bluetooth), high price for pair.

My grandson got a UE BOOM speaker for Christmas last year and I decided it was time for me to get one too. My son was in town and helped me choose the one I wanted. He also set it up for me with my iPad. It's been super having the music I want to hear all over my house and yard.

Pros: Love the sound quality and versatility of the speaker!

Cons: None so far...

Pros: Architectural design and engineering sound

Cons: Battery does not lasts as advertised.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I love this thing. As others have stated, stays charged a long time, gets loud, and is simple to use. Since I travel for work, I use this in rental cars streaming from Pandora. Sometimes the rental car has such a cheap sound system, this is a better solution. Inside the hotel room, it gives me a false sense of being at home, which may sound a bit odd.

Pros: Long battery life. Simple. Appears to be rugged. Dual unit use for stereo, I'll buy another!

Cons: Not too fond of the blue color, but I see they have other colors.

It's Awesome!!!!

I am a Spin Instructor and I have to say I love this product. I used to lug around electrical extensions to an overweight and outdated speaker where I used a wire to connect to my iPad that would lose connection way too often. Along comes UE Boom. Such a lifesaver and it's so portable. No wires. Easy connection through Bluetooth and the sound quality is excellent. So worth the money. Most likely buy a second one so can have it as stereo sound.

Pros: Portable, wireless, great sound, light

UE Boom

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Very pleased with the UE Boom. Great speakers. After watching several bluetooth speakers reviews on YouTube, I opted for the UE Boom. I purchased one speaker first to try it. I paired the speaker with my iPhone 5 and iPod. Played Latin music (tropical). I was impressed with sound and that convinced me to order another speaker in order to double the output and enjoy true stereo sound. I would the bass is OK, can ask more from a small device. I use the speakers outside in the lanai, when grilling and enjoying a cold beer. Kind of pricey, but I saved some money when ordered from Crutchfield, free shipping. Other retailers would have been $200 plus shipping.

Nice aboard Sailboat

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Very nice Bluetooth speaker. Does all it claims to do. We use it under the dodger during settled weather aboard our sailboat. What a great way to bring music outside the cabin without having to run wires. Made the Bluetooth connection with my iPhone 5s immediately - no problems at all. I would definitely recommend this to a friend.

Pros: Very nice audio for the size and intended use. Solid construction. Water resistant.

Cons: Bass is not that strong, but this is to be expected for a speaker this size.

Fast shipping! Product was exactly as described. Works wonderful indoors - didn't give it 5 stars only because I have not used it outdoors yet. Rich sound - bass is good for a Bluetooth speaker. Crystal clear audio; worth every penny!

Pros: Rich 360 sound. Very loud. Durable design. Good bass for a portable speaker.

Cons: None yet but have not tested it outdoors.

Great for iPhone

Written By Bruno, San Francisco, CA on Thursday, August 14, 2014

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I use the UE Boom to listen to music from my iPhone. It works really well and sounds very good, considering the small cabinet !

I use it also with the iReal Pro app and find the sound and volume to be far superior to JBL Flip which I also use.

I also occasionally plug in a guitar to my iPhone and use a guitar amp app with UE Boom. You need a cable for that though, as Bluetooth will not work for that. There again, great results, and much louder than JBL Flip.

Pros: No problems with battery life so far. Perfect for all my needs as related to iPhone Loud.

Cons: Carrying box is very sturdy, but maybe a little too large for my taste. A good padded case would have been preferred. Heavier than JBL Flip.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Nice portable speaker for when you are outdoors. Works fairly decently indoors as well. Surprised that such a nice sound comes out of such a small unit. Only reason for not giving it a 5 star was distance -- would be nice if the iPhone could be farther away. Much better sound than BEATS

Pros: Good sound quality; attractive; compact; portable; can go pretty loud with it; battery life started out good when brand new but went downhill; can use to answer your iPhone

Cons: a bit expensive; would like farther distance from iPhone; battery got worse as it was used.

Ok I've had it about a month now and tested it against my friends bose mini. The thing is loud! I mean hurt ur ears in a smaller room kinda loud and stays clear sound at full volume. Will drowned out the bose no problem. Does have a pretty clean clear sound but up close clarity compared to the bose mini... Hands down the bose has that one in the bag. Have not synced it to two yet but love mine for out side. It rather durable as well. Accidently droped mine off my balcony. Hardly a scratch. Worth the 175$ I payed for it!( not sure id by one for any more then that )

Pros: Portable, sturdy, loud for its size, great battery life

Cons: Sometimes I wish i knew which direction the internal drivers face, but sounds good in all directions.

Excellent 360 sound. Heart pounding bass. For a portable and small speaker, this thing rocks! I use it in my office and connect to my windows laptop, blast it at night and weekends when there's no one around.

Pros: Small, durable, light, one piece, Bluetooth. Excellent sound quality. Great looking too.

Cons: Nothing that I can think of. Although I've been using it for less than a month.

Love it, but beware of battery life claims

Written By JodyC, Charlottesville, VA on Wednesday, June 25, 2014

With several thousand $ tied up in three listening areas of my house I've been extremely critical of any bluetooth speakers I've tried to date. The UE Boom is without a doubt the best I've heard, and worthy of the price. It pairs quickly and easily and the sound from such a small speaker is fantastic. It accompanies me on my landscaping and yard maintenance chores and has delivered excellent quality audio for its small package.

I've only owned mine for about 6 weeks or so, purchased at the Crutchfield store in Charlottesville. The first couple of uses I was pleased, it lasted longer than I needed it for. Things quickly went downhill from there, the charge is now less than 2 hours, and this if it charges at all - left overnight to charge, the next morning it still indicates critical battery.

I've just contacted Logitech for a replacement, which they are always good for. However, in researching the problem and talking with the Logitech customer support representative they have a 'canned' set of responses that, had I seen them prior to purchase, might have led me to another product. Throughout their support forums you will see the same message posted, largely frivolous excuses why we might not be seeing 15 hours of usage. The problem I have is apparently not isolated, it's well known.

Bottom line, great speaker. Buy with enthusiasm & the knowledge that battery performance may be over-inflated and that you may need a replacement unit sooner than you may expect.

Pros: Form factor Portability Bluetooth Pairing Sound quality Ruggedness

Cons: Possible battery issues

Just what we needed

Written By afreil, Nashville on Wednesday, May 28, 2014

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Needed a bluetooth speaker primarily for our two teenagers. They can take it outside, use it at the pool, play it when friends come over for get-togethers. At some point I will hopefully get to use it myself. The sound is good for such a portable speaker and plenty loud as far as I'm concerned. If you are used to non-portable high end audio this may disappoint, but for it's purpose in our life, it's perfect.

Pros: size, ease of use, good sound

Cons: none so far

Big Sound, Small Package - Get Two and Sync Them

Written By G, Cincinnati, OH on Monday, April 21, 2014

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Excellent sound with two speakers synced together playing stereo. The App is a little awkward but once you are used to setting it up, it works. So far I am very happy with the battery life, their battery will outlast my phone battery using Pandora.

Pros: Great size, excellent sound, syncs with two speakers for stereo surround sound.

Cons: The App works to sync two speakers together, but must be set each time when they are turned on.

Good sound in a small speaker

Written By Anonymous, Royal Oak, Mi. on Thursday, April 17, 2014

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Good sound out of a small portable speaker. Bass seemed to be lacking out in the open but when possible placing it closer to a wall or flat surface seemed to improve quality. Since I have had the UE Boom I haven't had the chance to test out the battery life at high volumes. After downloading the Boom app. had a little difficulty pairing it with a second Boom (It took 3-4 attempts). Overall good sound quality for it's size but it should for the price.

Pros: Good sound for the size

Cons: A lacking in bass when out in the open and price

UE Boom Delivers the Bang!

Written By Timmy T, SF Bay Area on Friday, March 28, 2014

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I wanted a speaker for two purposes: music and speakerphone. This severly limits the field...fortunately the Boom is in a class by itself. Speakerphone performs flawlessly. The speaker system and sound play is great. My friend with a new Jambox said it doesn't compare to the Boom. I bought the Mini-Boom initially and, while i loved the size, form and function, it was a little under powered. I'm very happy with the Boom.

Pros: Speakerphone, sound, form factor, colors

Cons: not as much bass as the Bose mini...if you don't need the speakerphone go with the Bose.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This little speaker is OK. Although is looks great, has some fun features, and is built like a tank, from a sound quality perspective, it just didn't stand up for me. First of all, I realize I'm reviewing a combination speaker/amplifier/bluetooth device, so I shouldn't expect it to be the greatest sound reproduction I've ever heard. And I didn't. But so many reviews commented on clarity and natural sound that when I first heard it I was a bit taken aback. It has the sound of FM compression with an added mid range bump that makes playback very aggressive and in your face. Of the 4 EQ settings on the app, only "Intimate" sounded OK. The voice enhancer sounded like a high quality cell phone call. When you put it in a corner, the bass was much more apparent (as it is with any speaker), but out in the open there is a hard roll off at about 200 - 250 Hz. I guess the best way I could describe the sound to my ears is "congested". And again, this is not meant to be some gorgeous hi-fi system. It's to have fun listening to music and portability. But I ended up sending mine back and bought a Bose Soundlink Mini. Not as many features and a battery with about half the time that can't be charged via USB (seriously, Bose?), but there is an actual sound stage, depth and some remarkably low bass for such a small setup. For the same price, if audio quality is what you are most concerned about, I really wouldn't recommend the UE Boom.

Pros: Design is my favorite of any small Bluetooth speaker Very good battery Stereo mode is super cool, though you have to buy 2, and that money could go a long way towards a hi-end Bluetooth/WiFi system. Can get very loud with no distortion. Very easy to connect.

Cons: Sound quality is less than great, even for a speaker this size. No real useable EQ settings on app. Bass pretty much non existent unless it is placed in a corner.

Surprising bass response out a small convenient package. Clean sound at high volume. UE really put a nice package together from the unique retsil packaging, to the flat high flex USB cable that is included. Easy to set up, easy to pair. Made to last.

Pros: Clean highs. Great bass response. Durable

Cons: A bit pricey

I looked and listened to many of this class (very portable, bluetooth) - it is among the best. The sound quality does not disappoint, and can be very loud..wish it had more base, but none of this class do - it has personality in its functionality, which often makes me smile. Feels solid.

Pros: Solid sound quality Can get loud Very Portable, flawless bluetooth Wifi system updates Sync another for stereo Heavy, solid build Long charge for playtime Comes with hard case

Cons: No USB charge port No mic for true speakerphone capability (listen only)

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I love this product. It has good battery life. The sound is really good for such a small speaker. The portability of the speaker is great. It's light and small and I can pretty much take it anywhere I want to. I can take it with me when I ride by bike and blast 80s music all day long. I liked it so much, I brought another. I put one in each of my kid's rooms at night and I blast 80s music to wake them up for school in the morning. If your car doesn't have Bluetooth, you can put one of these in the car. So much utility with these little speakers. It also has a 3.5mm input for none Bluetooth devices. I use it for computer speakers sometimes. You can pair the speakers so one is left and the other right or you can play the same thing on both speakers.

Pros: Small and lightweight. Good sound. Good battery life.

Cons: A little on the expensive side.

Awesome product

UE Boom vs. Bose Soundlink Mini

Written By davidshopsinvt, Burlington, VT on Saturday, January 11, 2014

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I've owned both the Soundlink Mini and UE Boom for several months now. Why both devices? Because I couldn't decide between the two even side by side. Each excelled in desirable areas: sound and features. What I wouldn't give for a Boom that had the bass fullness & depth of the Mini, or a Mini that I could use as a bluetooth speakerphone. But alas, the universe decided there fwould not be such a device in 2013. And I decided it was time to replace my old clunker of a 5 CD-changer bedroom stereo I'd had since college with the Mini (which btw cost more way back then than the Mini does now!). As a bonus the Mini can also safely accompany me to the bathroom, kitchen, and maybe the porch if there wasn't much dirt or dust blowing around that day (the Mini looks and feels like a tank, but a tank with modernist architectural lines and a really, really nice metallic paint job that you wouldn't ever want to scratch).

I also decided there was a need in my life for a super-portable bluetooth speaker/speakerphone that I could toss in my backpack and take to the beach, or the mountain, or the trail (it has a clip for your backpack!), and just wipe it off after and not worry (the Boom has some kind of rubber/plasma paint job that repels dirt and moisture).

For sure, the Mini wins on sound (so much so that once you hear it, it's hard to listen to anything else), but if you need portable bluetooth speakerphone with *top-notch features*, a slick phone-integrated (Android and iPhone)

Pros: Everything (except bass)

Cons: No bass

amazing sound

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Absolutely amazing how they can get such a big sound in such a small package. The sound is full, clear and hear-able from anywhere in a room, due to it's 360° design. This blue tooth speaker was a Christmas gift from my two adult stepchildren who know a bit about these things. I am very happy with my UE-Boom. Great product.

Pros: Full, crisp, clear sound. Small, but very powerful. Very portable. USB cable for charge through computer, and USB wall charger too. Haven't had it long enough to comment on battery life, but I'll assume it's very good, based on quality of product.

Cons: None yet

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Currently I believe this is the best portable Bluetooth speaker on the market. The only reason I give it 4 stars instead of 5, is because I am worried that the battery will die in a few years, and there does not appear to be a way to replace it. Otherwise I am a happy camper. The sound quality is excellent, it has good volume output, the battery lasts for a long time, and the speaker is very durable. I almost bought the Bose Soundlink Mini, but it has too many disadvantages compared to the UE Boom (1. You can't use it as a speakerphone, 2. It needs an EXPENSIVE case to protect it since it's not as durable as the UE Boom, 3. It doesn't use a standard cable for charging, and 4. It doesn't have an iPhone app with the great features you get with the UE Boom).

I really can't think of any negatives except possible issues down the road with the battery that can't be replaced. I think it's really cool that you can change the language used to give the battery level with the iPhone app.

Pros: Sound quality, durability, portability, extra features provided by iPhone app

Cons: Internal battery can't be replaced, high cost

This is a great little gizmo- easy to travel with, great sound. Easy to sync with phone. Only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is that it doesn't catch deeper and more subtle tones of music- but really great to travel with.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

It took me a little time to warm up to this product. Overall the sound is good but could use a bit more ummph. I love that it connects to whatever blu-tooth device I'm using in a second or two. It is extremely convenient to transport; fits in a man's pants pocket. I conduct a church choir and it has been invaluable as a rehearsal tool I would buy it again.

Pros: Charges fast, keeps charge longer than I thought it would ,based on other reviews, and is extremely portable.

Cons: Would like a hotter more intense sound.

Very convenient wireless speaker option. The sound quality is surprisingly bold and crisp. I needed an external speaker for my mobile devices ( iPad, iPhone, & iPod Touch) to listen my music, podcasts, and more importantly to online radio. The UE Boom size & shape fits securely my cars cup holders and allows me to listen seamlessly from house to car. The unit is extremely easy to pair, and the speaker phone option works perfectly with my iPhone. Great value and performance.

Pros: Shape & Size Sound Quality Quality Craftmanship Good Value

Pros: LOUD and features like iphone app, and USB charge capability.

Cons: Can't really think of any. Maybe the app could control speaker volume if not using phone as device.

I take this speaker out on my boat for hours and have no problem with the battery lasting. Great sound and really cool packaging setup. The battery can be changed out per the owners guide. Not sure why some said you can't change it. Yes, the price is high for one speaker but well worth it in sound and quality. ONE COOL Speaker, equal or better for outdoor sound than the Bose Mini, that can not be charged by a USB port.

Great Sound - Iffy Battery

Written By N S, Bronx, NY on Wednesday, October 23, 2013

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The UE Boom sounds great. I'm no audiophile, but I was able to spend some time in a store listening to the UE Boom and the Bose Mini. The Bose Mini, like every other Bose speaker I've ever heard is heavy on the bass. The UE Boom provides a cleaner sound, better for vocals. Plenty of sound in this little pill shaped speaker. What I don't like is that you can't replace the battery, which means you're basically out when the rechargeable battery wears out. That seems wasteful and unnecessary these days.

Pros: Great Suonds

Cons: Battery can't be replaced

Amazing product 15 hours of battery life, semi water proof, and packs a punch i was at the beach with a few of my friend linked up and no one knew where the music was coming from until we made some friends instant beach party!!!

Pros: long batt life, super loud

Cons: yet to find any only one product caught my eye because it was more water proof, but where water proofing come in you loose sound quality also it wasn't a 360 speaker i think it was called the brave 1 brv1 but if your not worried about being able to submerge your speaker in water ueboom kills the competition on the pricy side but well worth it.

Love It! Fantastic Purchase

Written By Greg W, Los Angeles, CA on Monday, October 14, 2013

I LOVE it. I take it everywhere, even when I travel. I take it in the bathroom, use it on my desk, in kitchen when I'm cooking. Pairs easily with my devices. Sound quality is great, and you can absolutely play it without a charge continuously ALL-DAY before it gets close to running out of juice. Also, charges pretty fast as well, and you can actually get an app that will allow you pair it up with another one at the same time to play 2 together in stereo is you want. The power and clarity at the top and bottom ends is really great. If I play this thing with my iPhone past vol. 5, things start to shake.

Pros: Sound Quality (Top, Mid, Bottom Ends) Volume Battery Life Charges Fast Extremely Portable Solid Bluetooth Pairing

Great Sound - Poor Battery Life

Written By Sound Guy, Lansing, MI on Friday, October 04, 2013

I will start by saying I did a lot of research before deciding to purchase this speaker. I compared it extensively to the Bose Soundlink Mini and the JBL Charge, which are the two other speakers that round out the top 3 in the class. In my opinion, for the type of music I listen to (Avett Brothers, Black Keys, White Stripes, etc.), this speaker is far and away better than the Bose and JBL. For acoustics and vocals, JBL and Bose cannot touch this thing. Being that the sole purpose of the speaker for me is to use outdoors, the versatility, rugged design, and ability to crank out sound in all directions was just icing on the cake. If you are positioned to the side or behind the Bose or JBL, their sound quality degrades quickly. What is nice about the Boom is you put it somewhere and forget about it because it blasts sound in every direction and sounds pretty much the same no matter where you are positioned in relation to the speaker. Now for the bad, and in my opinion the killer. UE claims up to 15 hours of playtime on a full charge. I tested this thing extensively for battery life. My first test was a 1 hour 15 minute car drive in which I played it probably 80-90% volume the entire drive. 100% charge when I left the house, 60% charge when I arrived at destination. Test #2 - Football tailgate. Went from full charge to dead in 2 hours at 90% volume (you do need to crank it for a tailgate). Love everything about it except the battery, which is a deal breaker for me.

Pros: Sound quality, style, versatility, 360 degree sound, portability

Cons: BATTERY - Unacceptable for a unit at this price. Don't advertise 15 hours when the thing only holds up for 2 under real life outdoor situations where it needs to be cranked to project sound through all neighboring noise.

This thing ROCKS. Literally. Best $200 I've spent in a long time. I had it out of the box and playing music within 5 minutes...Very easy to pair to multiple devices. Don't know how it works with other phones, but with my iPhone it will play anything that is playing on my phone (iTunes, HD radio, Pandora, etc.). The sound quality is amazing, much better than even I expected. We bought it to use for tailgating, but now use it at home in the yard and I take it to work on occasion. Great buy for the money.

Pros: Very good value.

Really portable great sounding speaker

Written By Tim, Dallas, TX on Friday, August 09, 2013

After spending a weekend comparing this speaker to a Bose Soundlink II, I came away quite impressed. One of the things I'm always wanting to have is a great speaker for travelling and this one fits that bill quite nicely. Now, I will admit the Bose Soundlink II does have slightly better sound, I couldn't justify the price of the Bose vs. the UE Boom. For me, portability was the key. This will be the speaker that I take with me whenever I travel. Oh, battery life is great. Don't forget to also add the UE Boom App if you have an IOS device (not sure if it's on the Android market yet or not).

Pros: Sound quality is quite good. Using as a Bluetooth Speakerphone is a plus. Portability and battery life are top notch.

Cons: Couldn't get it to lie on it's side, so don't bother. I think it works better standing up. Make sure the Bluetooth speakerphone mic is facing up if you intend to use it as such too.

15 hour battery... nope!

Written By BJ, San Francisco, CA on Monday, August 05, 2013

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The claimed 15 hour battery life is bogus. At max volume (yeah, it's loud for most settings, but not when you're outside at the lake, park, etc.) I got just over 2 hours before it shut off, totally drained. Crutchfield CS quickly replaced it, but the second unit was the same. I called Logitech support, and they said volume shouldn't matter much, that even at max you should expect 10 hours or so. If that were true, I'd keep it. But given the price, 2 hours is unacceptable. This one is going back too.

Pros: Sounds great, looks great, love the tripod mount and overall size

Cons: The battery life is not anywhere close to 15 hours, bluetooth drops at close range sometimes.

Cons: Bass performance could be better. Currently the app is only available for iOS and Android.

Duane, These are terrific speakers. We use them with both the iPhone and Samsung. Easy to link with Bluetooth and sound terrific. If a call comes in on your phone while playing music, it will automatically switch to a speaker phone with very clear reception. I actually gave both my children one and can play stereo using the app when we are all together. I take it on my boat too and it works out great. [ Richard  Sep 04, 2014 ]

I'd buy it again. Great product. Long battery life. Great sound. Gets plenty of volume. Very portable - fits anywhere in drink cup holders on boats, bikes, etc. I read many reviews before this purchase. I made the correct decision. [ JOSEPH  Sep 03, 2014 ]
I ended up buying two of the UE boom because they are excellent portable blue tooth speakers. I use them at the beach, on vacation in my hotel room and in the shower for a supercharged, singing in the shower, experience! [ RANDY  Sep 03, 2014 ]
It is waterproof, rugged, and has good sound. It is somewhat lacking in bass, but still sounds good. It is a good travel speaker for the beach, park, or hotel room. I like the fact it has an app to adjust the sound. You can even add a second speaker to double up the sound or make them stereo (other bluetooth speakers do not have that feature). All in all, I would recommend the speaker. There are plenty of reviews on YouTube for you to watch. Enjoy. [ RENALDI  Sep 03, 2014 ]
My opinion - after initially listening to many of these portables in the $200+- range - the UE stood head & shoulders above the rest. Totally. Astounding sound from a "can" - way better than the others. This was 2013 of course, so I don't know what's new out there. But the ability to pair in stereo with itself while splitting the audio signal L/R is a great feature. [ STUART  Sep 03, 2014 ]
Personally I'm not a fan of apple, but I got this for my android phone. And I use it every day really. And I love it. Gets loud when you need it. Works great with the android app for it. Not sure if apple has the app aswell. This thing is tough also I'm pretty rough on mine. Goes everywhere. Out in the hanger, in the boat, kayak, beach, everywhere. Even aircraft washes on a 130. Works and sounds great. You can put together with the ue boom app. Fits in my beach cruiser cup holder. Battery last as long as it say it does. [ PAUL DE LA  Jan 25, 2014 ]
From the reviews I watched and read prior to purchase, the Boom rated highly. It seems the #1 consumer concern is the irreplaceable, rechargeable batteries. I took a chance buying it for my husband for Christmas and he loves it! I have to say, I do as well. The sound is great and we love that it is rugged, especially since it's not inexpensive. We've it outside a number of times and the sound is equally as good as indoors. Hope that helps. [ Kimberly  Jan 24, 2014 ]
After listening to several other brands of bluetooth speakers, I settled on the UE Boom and I'm glad I did. The sound quality is amazing. Nice highs and great lows. The battery life is pretty good, a solid 6 or 7 hours depending on how loud I have it cranked. I can take my UE Boom everywhere, including to the beach and poolside without having to worry about it getting splashed. I don't use the microphone option all that much, but it's there, which is a plus for someone who plans on taking calls without having to switch over to their phone. A few of my friends have purchased their own after having seen and heard mine. [ JEFFREY G  Jan 24, 2014 ]
When I researched about 6 months ago, this was the highest rated, I can tell you from my experience, you won't be disappointed and the ue boom android app is grat for controlling a pair. [ JOHN  Jan 24, 2014 ]
