About the Logitech® Harmony® Ultimate One

Ralph Graves

One easy-to-use remote

Ever wish your home remote control was more like a smartphone? The Harmony Ultimate One lets you use the same simple swipe and type touchscreen motions to control your home theater system. With a flick of your finger you can quickly swipe and scroll to navigate to your entertainment choices. The Ultimate One doesn't overwhelm you with choices — surrounding its touchscreen are just a few simple control buttons. And you can even consolidate button functions. So, for example, by tapping a button, your Blu-ray player skips to the next chapter. But if you hold down that button, the player will fast-forward through the disc.

Customizable channel icons mean your favorite TV shows are only one touch away.

One-touch commands

Is your setup complex? Not anymore. You can initiate a sequence of commands by tapping a single activity icon. Touch the “Watch TV” icon, for example, and the Ultimate One automatically assesses the status of your HDTV, receiver, cable or satellite box and makes sure they're all turned on with the proper settings. Presto! Your system's ready for TV viewing. The activity icons also provide easy access for family members and houseguests.

Select colorful, easy-to-see display icons for up to 50 of your favorite TV channels. And you can personalize and rearrange them as you want — right on the remote's touchscreen. To watch a channel, just touch the icon. The remote does the rest.

Easy setup

You can control up to 15 devices with the Ultimate One remote. The system works with over 5,000 brands and 225,000 entertainment devices, including lighting controls, game consoles, multi-room systems, and more. If it has a remote, you can probably control it with the Ultimate One.

To get started, just download the free MyHarmony software to your Mac or PC. Then connect the Ultimate One to it via the provided USB cable. MyHarmony will help you program your remote by asking some simple questions about your system and how you use it. It then downloads the commands and command sequences to your remote. And you can use MyHarmony to update your remote whenever you upgrade your system with new gear.

Power at the ready

The Harmony Ultimate One comes with its own charging station, so your remote has a home and it's easy to find. But if you forget to replace it on the station when you're done, don't worry. A built-in motion sensor “wakes up” the remote from its auto sleep mode when you pick it up — no more draining batteries while the remote's sitting on the coffee table.

Features

Overview: Harmony Touch is an activity-based Infrared (IR) universal remote control. Using the myharmony.com web-based setup, you can control up to 15 different devices. Using its Smart State technology, the Harmony Touch keeps track of the devices it controls, which allows it to always know which devices are on and off, and what input each device is currently set to. The Harmony Touch Universal Remote brings the flexibility and convenience of touch screen controls to your home entertainment system.

MyHarmony.com Setup: http://myharmony.com is the website where you configure the Harmony Touch. By connecting the Harmony Touch to your Mac or Windows computer and following the instructions at myharmony.com, you can enter your device information, create activities and choose your favorites. With this information, myharmony.com will configure your Harmony Touch to control your entertainment system. Your can return to myharmony.com any time to update your configuration, although many settings can also be maintained directly on Harmony Touch as well. The myharmony.com website has a database of over 225,000 electronic devices from over 5,000 manufacturers. Your computer will need to meet the following system requirements:

  • Windows-based PC:
    • Microsoft Windows 8 (32/64-bit), 7 (32/64-bit), Vista (32-bit) or XP (32-bit)
    • USB type-A port

  • Intel-based Mac Computer:
    • Macintosh OS X 10.6 or later

    • Internet access (Firefox 11+, Safari 4+)
Note: The Harmony Touch must be docked in the included docking station and connected to your Windows or Mac computer with the included USB cable to setup the remote through the myharmony.com website.

Learning Function: In addition to the devices which can be entered using the web interface, this remote can also learn most functions of other infrared remotes.

The remote vibrates to give you tactile feedback about when a tap, swipe or other gesture has been recognized by the remote. The remote display automaticlaly lights up when the remote control is moved.

Activities: The Harmony Touch uses Activity Control to give you one-touch control of your entertainment system. You can use one of the touchscreen's Activity buttons to power on your TV, DVD player, A/V receiver, set all your inputs and even activate play without having to program time consuming macros. Once all of your equipment is "on", the buttons on the remote are also automatically configured for the appropriate operation.

Favorites: Favorites are your favorite TV channels. Using the myharmony.com website you can select up to 50 favorite channels to display on the remote with identifiable icons. Selecting a favorite channel will start your "Watch TV" activity, if it's not already started, and tune directly to that channel. Using the touchscreen, you can add, remove and reorder your favorite channels right on the remote.

System Off + Sleep Timer: One push of the off button turns off all the equipment in your system. You can even fall asleep on the couch and let the Harmony Ultimate One remote control take care of turning everything off for you.

Lithium-Ion Battery/Recharging Docking Station: The Harmony Touch includes an integrated rechargeable Lithium-ion battery, which provides up to a one-week charge under normal use. The remote comes with a docking station and AC power adapter that keeps the remote fully charged.

Customer Q&A

Q
Does this remote have a sleep function that will turn off all devices?
robert  Dec 26, 2016
2 answers
A
When you program each Activity, you decide how the power off button will affect the devices included in the Activity. You can leave them on, power off, etc. There is no function that put devices off unless they are used in that Activity
gunnar  Dec 29, 2016
A
There is no preset button however the remote provides tremendous flexibility for programming specific tasks that you would like to perform. You could set up a sleep "Activity" and specify the devices to run with a timeout for shutting them down. It's may be possible to tie it into the sleep function on your TV or Receiver as well.

Q
Will the ultimate one turn on devices in a specific order? For instance when I watch my Samsung TV the tv goes on last. I turn the cable box on first or the blu-ray on first then the tv. When shutting things down the tv always goes off first. Thank You
edward  Dec 03, 2016

A
We purchased this last year, and to my knowledge it won't turn things on in a particular order. In fact, it gets a little finicky about turning items on/off altogether when you hit the program settings "Watch TV" or "Watch Cable". It's supposed to turn on all your devices at one time, but we find that it sometimes get out of sync and we need to go in and manually turn on each device. It's a little annoying, but ultimately prefer it to having multiple remote controls.
leah  Dec 09, 2016
A
I have had my remote for about a year and the sequence always seems to be the same in start up and shut down for blu ray,tv,cable and cd player. I don't know if the sequence is affected by the power up/down cycles for each different device since I have judged this by the power on/off lights coming on only. I have enjoyed this remote and am still learning all the features.
william  Dec 04, 2016
A
That's the same way my remote works

matthew  Dec 02, 2016
A
I don't think so. I believe this needed line of sight.
justin  Dec 01, 2016
A
It will pass through glass but not through wood. You need a harmony remote with a hub to go through doors.

Yes, per Harmony's support site you can control your TiVo Bolt with the Ultimate One remote. You can also customize the buttons and touchscreen to ensure "skip" functionality. I hope that helps. My Bio: http://www.crutchfield.com/Support/Bio.aspx?bio=159

Q
will this remote replace an Xfinity X1 remote?
johnny  Jan 28, 2016
1 answer
A
It can. The Harmony One is more.appropriate and effective if you're trying to control many components on one TV, i.e. TV, SET TOP BOX, APPLE TV, SOUND SYSTEM, DVD PLAYER. IIf you're only opersting a TV, a SET TOP BOX and a sound bar, the X1 Rrmote is all you need. Both remotes are good. You should select your remote on the number of components in your system

Q
how long to charge?
paul  Aug 16, 2015

A
That's a good question. I return our remote to the charging cradle at the end of each use. It charges overnight, but requires much less than that. It is always fully charged in the morning. I wish i could give you a more specific answer.
david  Aug 18, 2015
A
Totally drained 3 or 4 Hrs. I normally put in back in the charger when I'm done with it for the day.
stephen  Aug 17, 2015
A
Don't know for sure because I just leave it in the cradle when not in use. I have had it out of the cradle for 6 - 7 hours and has never ran down.
