Note: InstallCard uses a network of independent contractors who are unaffiliated with Crutchfield, and we are unable to evaluate each individual contractor.

How does it work?

Simple. First, enter your zip code to see if there's an InstallCard installer in your area (if you don't see an installer listed, you may wish to call InstallerNet at the number listed below the zip code field. New installers are added to the network frequently, so there may be options available for you that aren't yet listed online). Then, just add this card to your online shopping cart, and proceed through checkout as usual. When you receive the card from us, visit www.installcard.com, enter the unique InstallCard number on the back of the card, and schedule your installation with the local shop.

Installation

When you arrive for your appointment at your local stereo shop, just hand over the InstallCard, along with the component system you've purchased and your Crutchfield invoice (it will be included in the box with your order), and your installation begins. And you can feel confident about the quality of work — every installer on the InstallerNet network has at least two years' experience and is MECP (Mobile Electronics Certified Professional) certified. InstallerNet feels so strongly about the expertise of their installers that they will warranty the labor of your installation for the life of your vehicle.

What does this card cover?

With this InstallCard, a professional installer will remove a pair of factory car stereo speakers and install your aftermarket component woofers, tweeters, and crossovers, wiring them to an amplifier or car stereo system, using the already existing wires. Be sure to read the Details below to see what's covered. Please call an Advisor at 1-888-955-6000 if you have any questions.

Important Note: Install Cards are not eligible for refunds once installation work is performed.

  • If equipment is determined to be defective during the process of the installation or immediately after while still at the install shop the installer will remove and reinstall the equipment at no charge.
  • If the Manufacturer's product becomes defective sometime after the initial installation, and it is determined that the malfunction is not caused by the installation, then the installer will replace the defective unit with a new unit supplied by the customer, and the customer will be responsible for an R&R (removal and reinstallation) charge which will not exceed 50% of the original installation charge.
  • If the customer chooses to remove non-defective equipment (swapping for a different brand, for example), InstallerNet will charge for a completely new installation.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Limited shops! And the one that accepts them keeps rescheduling. 3 times now, I've taken time away from work to drive there, just to be told: "we meant to call you"!

Pros: Warranty

Cons: Limited shops

Professional is an overstatement

Written by: Justin K from Indiana on April 20, 2015

There was Nothing professional about the installer I was sent to in Indiana. The installer was smoking while installing my stereo system. It looked like a backyard garage set up. My appointment was set up by install car. I was to drop my car off(9:00 am) an hour and twenty minutes away and the installer said to pick it up at 1 pm the fallowing day. I called at noon the next day and the installer said it would be ready, so I show up and it is another 7 hours before it was done(so I thought) I started home and realized none of my windows and door locks worked. Install card insisted that I return to the same installer to correct the mistake. Installer told me that the viper autostart that I bought was "junk" No Thank you!

Pros: None!

Cons: Component door speakers do not work, 6x9 rear deck speakers rub metal on metal when the bass hits from the sub. 12" Subs were sent with 16 screws, installer used 6, rear deck 6x9's were sent with 8 screws, installer used 5. Wires under steering wheel is a rats nest. autostart isn't working.

Crutchfield response on May 6, 2015 We were bummed to read about the issues listed in this review. We checked in with our Customer Support team and found out that we are currently working with this customer to help resolve the issues, and get everything corrected.

Features

Overview: With this InstallCard (42-1038) a professional installer will remove an existing pair of factory speakers, install one pair of component speakers (including: woofer, tweeter, crossover), and connect your existing amplifier or stereo to the speaker's wires; as well as demonstrate operation. Some vehicles may require optional mounting brackets or additional labor due to the complexity of the speaker removal.

Disclaimers: This InstallCard (42-1038) does not include the following installation costs:

  • If you are replacing a pair of factory speakers with a pair of aftermarket speakers of a different size.
  • In some vehicles it will require the removal of the entire rear deck, door panels or dashboard to replace the speakers, this may require additional labor charges.
  • Running a new set of wires to either the amp or the radio may require additional labor.

Installation Warranty: Each installation performed using an InstallCard comes with a nationwide limited lifetime labor warranty. If at any time, the installed product becomes inoperable due to a faulty installation the installer will correct the problem at no charge.

Defective Equipment: If the equipment is found to be defective at the time of installation, the installer will remove the defective unit and reinstall a replacement unit (supplied by the customer) at no additional charge. If the installed equipment fails later, after leaving the installation shop, and it is determined that the malfunction is not caused by the installation, the installer will remove and replace the defective unit with a new unit supplied by the customer, and the customer will be responsible for a removal and reinstallation charge which will not exceed 50% of the original installation charge.

Sorry but I have not used the cards we purchased yet. [ HILLMAN C  Feb 07, 2015 ]
Once you activate the card, you will get a list of installers to make an appointment with. Also, the customer service hotline was there to help me find am installer. [ Kathy  Feb 05, 2015 ]
Sorry, I cannot help because I didn't use the service... found a single speaker instead of a whole system replacement. [ Jackson  Feb 04, 2015 ]

I wondered the same thing, but I was tired of having the local big box store do shoddy installs for me. So after you buy the card and I think before you activate it, you can get the name of the place. I think you can return the card as long as it is not activated. You can probably ask Crutchfield support too. [ Walter  Feb 04, 2015 ]
After purchase you call the number on the card to activate it. They will then give you a list of installation centers in the area that will take the card as a form of payment. Its not a waste; you call a number on the card and they set you up with a local installer. My installer actually came to my work and installed the speakers and stereo system in my parking garage; left work and had new sound! The downside to this was the speakers worked there way loose and I had vibrations within a few weeks of install. I happened to have an appointment for my car at the dealer, so while it was there I asked them to take a look at the speakers. The remarks from the dealer was 'that was the worst install job I have ever seen; a real sloppy mess'. I never contacted the install guy because the dealer bolted them down for me for no charge, but beware of the installer they send you and be sure it is fully warranted. [ Erich  Feb 04, 2015 ]
I purchased my Install Card's quit a while ago. The first installers that were supposed to install the speakers kept delaying the install. They said I needed additional items. I purchased the items and called back. They told me that it would be at least a week and they would call me to set the appointment. I offered to drive to their local since they area mobile operation. Did not hear from them. I called the Install Card scheduler to see if another crew was in my area in which they are, and just a couple of towns over. After calling the new crew, they said that they are a first come first serve. I was also told that there may also be additional costs. I have not taken the time to have this done since it is a loaded work vehicle that needs the service. [ Spider  Feb 04, 2015 ]
after i got the cards i went on the website and there was 10 different options to use them in my general area. i put in the city i wanted to take the vehicle to and filled in the information. the shop contacted me the next day and everything went well. i feel that the shop did a great job and i got a good price using the cards [ james  Feb 04, 2015 ]
Its not a wasre of money. But its only valuable if u need a reference for a good car audio installer. If u already know one, then u dont need to buy it. But if u dont, then ita a dollar well spent. [ CURTIS  Feb 04, 2015 ]
I forwarded your question to an Advisor and they responded with the following: You can see the installers in your area by entering your zipcode here: http://www.installcard.com/MobileElectronics/InstallerFinder.aspx If you would like to discuss further you can contact an Advisor directly by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat.
