A comprehensive remote start/security system

Viper's Responder LC3 (Model 5706V) 2-way security system will deter most criminal attacks against your vehicle and the property you keep inside it — you'll feel safe and secure no matter where you park. And its remote start capability makes your life a lot easier, especially in the dead of winter or the middle of the summer.

Start your engine remotely

You can start your car from up to a mile away with the 5706V's remote start feature. Just push a button on the keychain remote, and your car will be warmed or cooled  to your liking when you get to it. Four auxiliary channels allow you to add functions like popping open the trunk, flashing the lights, or lowering the windows. The 2-way remote's LCD confirms that your engine has started. The 5706V system is also compatible with any Viper SmartStart module, which allows you to start your car via your smartphone with no limit to the range.

Important Note: Because of safety concerns, we strongly recommend professional installation for remote start systems in vehicles with manual transmissions.

Add security

The system uses features like Starter Kill, which prevents hot-wiring, and a dual-stage shock sensor, which warns you if someone tries to get into your car. The system's 6-tone siren chirps an early warning in the case of an intrusion attempt, and then unleashes an ear-splitting blast if the intrusion continues, chasing away crooks and attracting attention. Whether you're shopping, dining out, or going to a show, you can be sure that your car will be exactly where you left it.

Remotes that reach up to a mile away

Viper includes a control center in this security package that includes a valet switch, a bright blue LED status indicator that tells would-be thieves that there's a security system onboard, and a special RF receiver and antenna, which extend your remote's range up to a mile. The system includes two remotes: a 5-button 1-way transmitter, and a 2-way remote transceiver which gives text messages, plays confirmation and warning tones, and displays your car's security status on its LCD screen. Optional replacement remotes are available if you lose one or want a spare.

Important Note:
We offer a databus interface module that can save you lots of time when you install a Viper security system in most vehicles. Chat or call us at 1-888-955-6000 to see if the interface will work with your vehicle.

IMPORTANT:
If you know how to use a multimeter and have experience working with your vehicle's electrical system, you should be able to install this remote start system yourself. If not, please consider having your system professionally installed.

To ensure vehicle compatibility, please enter your vehicle information in OutfitMyCar. Your order will be reviewed by our Care Experts group, who will contact you if further information or recommended accessories are needed.

Security Features

Overview: The Viper 5706 Responder LC3 SuperCode SST 2-way Security and Remote Start System (Model 5706V) will protect your vehicle with the most up-to-date electronic technologies available, including Remote Start, the Stinger Double-Guard shock sensor, the Neo Revenger six-tone siren, and the Fail-safe Starter Kill. The system has 4 auxiliary outputs to provide keyless entry and other convenience features. The unit is covered by a limited lifetime warranty.

Note: The remote start function is for fuel injected vehicles only.

Remote Controls: The Viper Model 5706V features the Responder LC3 2-way communication technology in the hybrid remote start and car security system. It comes with one 2-way Responder LC3 Priority remote control with SST technology (7756V) and a companion 1-way SST remote (7656V). The 2-way Responder LC3 Priority remote is equipped with a powerful 8 MHz microprocessor running SuperCode protocol with advanced, software-based digital encryption and function control. The LCD remote can confirm commands with tones, vibration, text and icon display. With Priority Icon Map, the most important icons are larger than other icons, and grouped in the center. The SST remotes have a range of 1 mile. The LCD remote has a rechargeable Lithium-Ion battery and includes a Micro USB charging cable. The 1-way remote is powered by a CR2032 Lithium battery (installed), which will last approximately one year under normal use.

Remote Control Functions: The unique Responder LC3 remote control has separate lock and unlock buttons, a remote start button, a function button, and an auxiliary button. The function button allows you to access the full power of SuperCode programming when combined with other buttons for dozens of functions. A reference guide for button functions is provided on the Install Guide sheet.

SuperCode: SuperCode technology is a software-based protocol for encrypting the signal between the remotes and the control center. It replaces the hardware-based Clone Safe Code-Hopping technology found in older Viper systems. SuperCode lets you operate all possible functions for two cars using a single remote. The Responder LC3 remote provides 2-way confirmations and notifications of many different commands and events.

SmartStart Compatible: The Model 5706V is compatible with Viper's SmartStart module that enables you to operate specific functions of the system from your smartphone. Using SmartStart, you can lock and unlock your vehicle, open the trunk, start the vehicle, or trigger the Panic Mode from your phone. Available SmartStart modules include the VSM200, VSM250 (with GPS), and VSM50BT (with Bluetooth).

Control Center: In addition to the hideaway control module, the system also includes a control center. This newly redesigned module includes the RF remote antenna, the status LED, and a control button to engage the Valet Mode or Emergency Override. The control center should mounted high on the front windshield using the supplied dual-sided adhesive.

D2D Port: The hideaway Control Module (brain) is equipped with a 4-pin D2D port which allows the 5706V to be connected to the vehicle via an XpressKit wiring interface. There are interfaces available for hundreds for vehicles which can save hours of cutting and splicing into factory wires by plugging between the alarm system and the vehicle's wiring harnesses. Please contact your Crutchfield advisor or consult the Crutchfield Car Selector to find out if there are interfaces available for your vehicle.

Failsafe Starter Kill: To prevent your vehicle from being stolen, the control unit has a built-in relay which will prevent the engine from starting. To start the car, it will be necessary to disarm the system with the remote control.

Neo Revenger Siren: The Model 5706V includes the Neo Revenger Soft Chirp siren (model 514LN). It consists of six different tones in sequence. Any of the tones can be eliminated, resulting in a unique, easily identifiable siren sound. The siren chirps can be either full volume (120dB) or six decibels quieter than the full alarm blast.

Stinger Double-Guard Shock Sensor: The system features the Stinger Double-Guard Shock Sensor, which is designed to pick up impacts to the vehicle or glass. The sensitivity of the shock sensor is adjustable using the rotary control on the back of the control module, or the 2-way remote. When the sensitivity is set, a light impact will generate the "Warn-Away" pre-warning chirp of the siren. A harder impact will trigger a full alarm blast.

Auxiliary Outputs: The 5706V has 4 Auxiliary Channel outputs that can activate many of the convenience features found in today's vehicles. Some possible convenience features include: Trunk release, Windows open/close, Sliding Doors open/close, Rear Hatch open/close, Sunroof open/close, Audio system, and Headlights.

Silent Modes: The system gives you a number of silent modes:

  • Silent Arm: You can turn off the vehicle siren and flashing lights on a one-time basis, leaving the system's paging feature as the only alarm response.
  • Full Silent Arm Protection: In full silent mode, the siren cannot be triggered, but any trigger will cause the 2-way remote to be paged.
  • Sensor Silent Arm Protection: In this mode, a sensor cannot trigger the siren, but will cause the 2-way remote to be paged. All entry points (doors, hood, etc.) will still trigger the siren.

Door Locks: The Model 5706V will automatically lock your vehicle's doors when you arm the alarm, and unlock the doors when disarming the alarm. When interfacing with any other type of factory door lock system besides negative switching locks, or when adding aftermarket actuators, two relays (such as two 120E5000s) or a door lock module (such as 607451M) will be required.

Note: If your vehicle requires the use of a Data Integration module that controls your factory door locks, no extra parts besides the Data Integration module will be required.

Ignition-controlled Door Locks: The system can be programmed to lock and unlock the doors as the ignition it turned on or off. If connected and programmed, the power doors will lock three seconds after the ignition is turned on, and unlock when the ignition is turned off. You can program the system to perform lock only, unlock only, or both.

Car Finder: If you're having difficulty finding your vehicle in a crowded parking lot, the car finder function will cause the siren to emit one long chirp and flash the parking lights for 10 seconds.

Valet Mode: You can prevent the system from automatically arming and triggering by using the Valet Mode. This is very useful when washing the vehicle or having it serviced. In Valet Mode, the security system will not arm, even with the remote control, but all convenience features (door locks, trunk release) continue to work normally.

Nuisance Prevention Circuitry: The Nuisance Prevention Circuitry prevents annoying repetitive trigger sequences due to faulty door pin switches or environmental conditions, such as thunder, jackhammers, airport noise, etc. If the alarm triggers three times within a 60 minute period, and each time the same sensor or switch triggers the alarm, the NPC ignores, or bypasses, that sensor or switch (along with any other sensors or switches sharing the same zone) for 60 minutes.

Bitwriter: Programming the system with a Bitwriter Programming tool (such as the Directed Electronics 998T) gives you access to a wider range of system options. Programming details that only need to be set once can be accessed more easily with the Bitwriter. You can also lock out access to some features with the Bitwriter, preventing access to those features by remote.

Optional Accessories: The Viper Model 5706V can accept a wide range of convenience and security accessories:

  • Additional Remote: Item # 6077752 for a replacement Responder LC3 2-way, 5-button SST remote
  • Field Disturbance Sensor: Item # 607508D for detecting movement inside or just outside of your vehicle.
  • Audio Sensor: Item # 607506T for glass impact audio detection.
  • Tilt Sensor: Item # 607507M to monitor the tilting of your parked vehicle (caused by an attempt to jack up or tow your vehicle)
  • Ultrasonic Sensor: Item # 607509U to monitor the airspace inside your vehicle to detect subtle window tampering.
Remote Start Features

Remote Start Overview: The Viper Model 5706V can start your car and run it by remote control from a distance of up to 1 mile for a preset amount of time. The remote start can be used on vehicles with manual or automatic transmissions. The status of the vehicle can be monitored by the LCD icons on the 2-way Responder LC3 remote.

Run Time: The remote start will run the engine for a preset amount of time. The default run timer is 12 minutes, but you can change that to 24 or 60 minutes. The unit will send a page to alert you when the run time is about to expire. If you need more time, a Run Time Reset will start the run time counter again to give you additional time.

Automatic Shut-down/Starter Lockout: After the vehicle is remote started, the remote starter will shut down when the brake pedal is pressed, the hood is opened, if the alarm is triggered when armed, or when the remote start command is sent again from a remote control. In addition, if the hood is opened or if the brake pedal is pressed, you cannot start the vehicle using the remote starter.

Diesel "Wait To Start" Timer: If you have a diesel vehicle, you can set the starter to delay by a few seconds before engaging. The unit will wait for a "ready" indication from the vehicle, or the delay can be set to a timed duration of 15, 30, or 45 seconds. Gasoline engines will start approximately 4 seconds after the system acknowledges the start command by flashing the parking lights.

Turbo Mode: The Turbo Mode keeps the engine running after arriving at your destination for a programmable period of time (1, 3, 5, or 10 minutes). This allows the turbo to sufficiently cool down after you have left the vehicle. It can be activated by remote control or an optional dash-mounted activation button.

Cabin Temperature: Using the Responder LC3 system, you can check the temperature inside the vehicle. The LCD will indicate the internal temperature of the vehicle while remote start is engaged. This allows you to monitor how long to pre-heat or pre-cool your vehicle.

Timer Start/Smart Start: When parked in extremely cold temperatures, or for a long period of time, the Timer Start feature will start the vehicle at a specific interval (default is every 3 hours) to maintain battery charge. This will repeat for a specified number of starts (default is 6), and run for a preset amount of time (12, 9, 6, or 3 minutes). The Smart Start feature uses the settings for Timer Start in addition to temperature and battery level to automatically start the engine. It the temperature is above 100°F, below 0°F, or if the battery level is below 10.5V, the engine will start.

Note: When Smart Start is monitoring the cabin temperature, the climate controls should be properly set to cool or heat the cabin prior to leaving the vehicle.

Rear Defogger: When the rear defogger circuit is connected to the alarm output, the rear defogger will automatically come on when the vehicle is remote started. You can also manually activate the rear defogger after the remote start is on. If the interior cabin temperature is above 55° F, the defogger will not activate.

Pit Stop Mode: This feature allows the vehicle to remain running after the key has been removed from the ignition. This is useful for those occasions when you wish to exit and lock the vehicle for short periods of time while leaving the motor running and the climate controls on.

Anti-grind Circuitry: Whenever the vehicle is started using the remote, advanced anti-grind circuitry prevents the starter from being engaged using the key. (In other words, it won't let you try to start the car with the key if the remote starter has already been engaged.) This prevents damage to the starter motor. The optional Failsafe Starter Kill relay must be installed in order for the anti-grind circuitry to work.

Engine Checking: The 5706V has several options for checking the engine while it is running: Virtual Tach (default), Tachometer, or Voltage. No tachometer wire connection is required when set to Virtual Tach. When the tachometer wire is connected, the system goes through a Tach Learning process. If the vehicle is over-revving, or the battery voltage is getting low, the system will shut off the engine.

Shutdown Switch: You can temporarily disable the remote start unit to prevent the vehicle from being remote started accidentally by switching the supplied neutral safety toggle switch to the Off position.
