Features
Overview: The SIRIUS SLV1 car kit is
designed to provide operation of your Stiletto in your vehicle. You can choose
to install the SLV1 wireless or with a direct connection to hear your Stiletto
through your car's speaker system. The vehicle kit also includes a vent or dash
mount to provide flexibility in your installation and placement of your
Stiletto.
SIRIUS Satellite Radio: SIRIUS
Satellite Radio features more than 120 channels of original programming beamed
coast-to-coast, including commercial-free, digital-quality music, and news,
talk, sports, entertainment, and children's programming. You will need a
subscription to SIRIUS Satellite Radio in addition to the compatible tuner.
Note: Satellite radio
service is available only within the continental United States. Service
is not available in Alaska and Hawaii.
Compatibility: The SLV1 vehicle
kit will work with the SIRIUS Stiletto SL100 and SL10.
Battery Adapter Insert: The
kits features a battery adapter insert that allows you to use the Stiletto with
the slim-line battery as well as the extended life battery without the insert.
Connection: There are two primary ways to
connect your Stiletto to your vehicle radio.
- Wireless Connection: The Stiletto
contains an FM transmitter which sends audio from your Stiletto to your
vehicle's radio over an FM frequency.
- Direct Connection: Direct connection
provides better audio performance than a wireless connection. There are
several ways to directly connect your Stiletto to your car's audio system.
- Wired Audio Connection: Using the
line output on the car dock you can connect your Stiletto to the Line IN
or AUX IN on your car's in dash player if it features one. (optional
minijack cable needed)
- Cassette Adapter: If you still
have a cassette player in your car you can use a optional cassette
adapter. The cassette adapter plugs into the line output and then the
cassette inserts into your tape deck for playback.
- FM Direct Adapter: If your radio
does not contain and AUX or Line In you can use the optional FM Direct
Adapter to go from the FM out of the car dock to the antenna in of your
car's receiver.
Antenna: The low-profile Sirius antenna
has a powerful magnetic base that allows you to mount the antenna on the roof or
trunk lid of your vehicle. The antenna needs to be positioned in such a way that
it will be free of mechanical and line-of-sight obstructions.
FM Extender Antenna: The FM
Extender Antenna is provided to maximize the audio quality of your Sirius radio
when using the built-in FM transmitter in your Sirius tuner to transmit the
audio to your vehicle's FM radio. The FM Extender Antenna should be placed
inside the vehicle in close proximity to the your vehicle's factory FM antenna.
The FM Extender Antenna has permanent adhesive mounts for installing it along
your vehicle's window. The Antenna portion measures 18" long and utilizes an
attached 18.5' cord to route the antenna through your vehicle. The cord has a
right angle minijack connector on the end of it that plugs into the FM-Out on
back of the car docking station.
Important Note from
Crutchfield: Current FCC rules limit
the transmission strength of wireless FM transmitters to a point where
transmission needs to take place very near your FM antenna. Sirius includes
extra wiring in order to address this issue, but Crutchfield strongly
encourages customers to use an auxiliary input, wired FM modulator, or
cassette adapter to ensure satisfaction with the performance and cosmetics
of this satellite radio.
Cigarette Lighter Adapter: The vehicle kit
comes with a cigarette lighter adapter to supply power to the dock and your
Stiletto. The car dock cannot be powered directly from a vehicle's 12 VDC power
system. It must be powered using the included cigarette lighter adapter only.
Connecting the vehicle dock directly to the vehicle's 12 VDC power system may
result in damage to the vehicle dock and/or your Stiletto.
Mounting Methods: The vehicle kit offers
the following three mounting methods.
- Dash or Console Mounting Bracket
(supplied): The dash/console mounting bracket has an adjustable arm so
you are able to position your Stiletto at various angles. The Stiletto
mounts to the bracket with 4 supplied machine screws. The base of the unit
has a self-adhesive backing so it will stick securely to your dash or
console.
- Vent Mount (supplied): The vent mount
is designed to clip onto your dash vents using the supplied vent clips and
vent arm. The bracket attaches to the Stiletto using the four supplied
machine screws.
- Pro-Fit Brackets (optional): The car kit can
be used with many of the Pro-Fit Vehicle-Specific Mounts (VSMs) to provide a
custom mount for your vehicle. The
dock can be mounted directly to the Pro-Fit Legend series Vehicle-Specific
Mounts (VSMs). The cradle is also compatible with the regular Pro.Fit
International VSM series. Please check the Crutchfield Vehicle Selector to
see which VSMs are compatible with your vehicle.
Controls
Dock Controls: The vehicle dock has the
following controls on its front and side panel.
- Number Keypad (0-9): directly select
your Sirius channels or selects your presets in Preset mode
- Preset: changes the unit to the
preset mode and scrolls through the preset banks (A,B,C)
- Tune: changes to the direct tuning
mode
- Jump: jumps to a preselected
traffic/weather channel
- FM: displays the FM frequency screen
where the FM transmitter frequency can be selected or and FM preset selected
using the 0-9 buttons (located on side panel)
- Lock: secures the Stiletto in the
vehicle dock (located on side panel)
Remote Control: The SLV1 also comes with a
full-featured remote control. The remote has all the functions of the dock but
adds the following functions. The IR eye is positioned on the front right hand
side of the car dock.
- Power: turns Stiletto On/Off
- Mute: disables audio
- Up/Down: menu controls
- Left/Right: rewind and fast forward
- Select: selects highlighted item in a
list, menu or prompt
- Back: returns back to the previous
screen
- Home: selects the Home Screen or Now
Playing screen on Stiletto
- Options: displays available options
for current screen of the Stiletto
- Display: cycles between the 3-channel
display mode, 6-channel display mode, artist name and song title
- Play/Pause: pause or resume play
- Rewind/Fast Forward: Goes to next or
previous song
- Love: saves the song or show, or adds
it to favorites listing
- Volume +/-: increase or decrease
volume
