The SNYSC1 adapter lets you control a SIRIUS satellite radio with your compatible Sony stereo. This adapter works with SIRIUS-ready Sony stereos, letting you control either of the following:

  • the SC-C1 SiriusConnect universal tuner;
  • a compatible SIRIUS portable radio, like the Sportster, Starmate, Stratus, or Stiletto, together with a SiriusConnect vehicle kit.

The SNYSC1 adapter sends song text to the Sony stereo's display, and lets you browse SIRIUS channels by using your Sony stereo's controls. The adapter powers your satellite radio and includes a pass-through connection, so you can add another piece of Sony gear to your car stereo system. Warranty: 1 year.

See the "Crutchfield Hands-on Research" tab for a full compatibility list.

Note: A subscription to SIRIUS is also required. Satellite radio service is available only within the lower 48 states — not available in Hawaii or U.S. territories. Limited service is available in Alaska.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Nice unit to integrate control into head unit

Pros: Fairly small Integrated connection to head unit Easy to hide if installation approach is not followed from manufacturer Nice that connection is direct connected instead of "tuner" connection Works well

Cons: Awkward and unnecessarily oversized cables Connectors are not that robust DIN style connector between units seems a bit overkill Provided installation brackets require a fair amount of flat space somewhere User manual lacks detail

Used with my Sony radio

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This unit easily connected with my Sony dash radio. I followed the instructions and my installation was a piece of cake. It will need to be hidden behind your dash or glove box area.

Great addition for cleaning up the clutter

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This unit was a key reason for upgrading my head unit to the new Sony XAV-70BT. I had my head unit, Sirius PnP Sportster, radar detector, MP3 Player and 12 disc changer.
This unit allowed me to put the Sportster 5 in the glove box using the VDOC cradle and operate it through the head unit.
The only con I can mention is it requires you to run a 12 volt constant power and ground to the unit. Easy to do if you have installed an aftermarket head unit, but since it has the large multi contact cable running to the head unit, it would only make sense that the power would come through that large cable.
Once again the Crutchfield sales and service team were second to none. I am very, very experienced at installing complex systems and I utilize the Crutchfield Advisors many times through an install. It gives me peace of mind. If you are new to this, than Cruchfield is the only way to go. Thier tech support will talk you through anything you need and the master sheets and instructions are awesome.

great product

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This unit works great. I have no more clutter on my dashboard. The unit is very easy to install. I may buy one for my other car.

Works great....

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This unit is very nice.. I was somewhat apprehensive at first. I originally wanted the SIR-SNY1 which was a single unit vs. two little boxes to find a place to install. (Also requires the SCC1 tuner) Once installed, I was pleased to find out that I also still retained the use of my AUX inputs thanks to the pass thru provided on this unit. Sound quality is great, and the fact that I now don't have to have the clutter of an external receiver is a big bonus. It is also quite amusing to see SIRIUS come up on the screen of my old CDX-FW700 XM ready radio....

SNY-SC1 works as described.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This product did exactly what it was suppose to do.

Pros: Works flawlessly with my Sony CDX GT-710. I also purchased the
Sirius SCC1. Sound quality is good. Ability to control satelite radio tuner
through my head unit is as described. Install is clean / hidden away.

Cons: The average DIY installer may have trouble finding a constant 12V
power supply to tap into. (I was able to cut and spice into an unused
cigarette lighter, and it works perfectly). Owning a wire stripping/crimping
tool is almost a must for completing the install.

I highly recommend this if you're looking for a way to get rid of pesky wires
and suction cup mounts from your car's interior. I would recommend this
product even if you would require a professional install at additional cost.
