TomTom's GO 2435 TM portable navigator gives you expert guidance but that's not all — it offers a wealth of features to help make your journeys anything but routine. Stuff like hands-free operation to make your drive safer. And built-in Bluetooth® connectivity for calling with your compatible phone. And Lifetime Traffic Updates to alert you congestion along your route, plus Lifetime Map Updates that allow you to keep your maps current.

Tour North America with added assurance
The GO 2435's 4.3" glass touchscreen display allows you to quickly move from one menu screen to another with a quick finger swipe, or zoom the map display with a simple pinching motion. With 7 million points of interest on board, you'll have no problem finding important destinations, and you can add your own for future trips. You'll have access to complete maps of the entire U.S., Canada, and Puerto Rico, plus map coverage of much of Mexico, covering you for business or pleasure nearly anywhere in North America.

Lifetime Traffic Updates and Lifetime Maps
With Lifetime Traffic Updates, your navigator receives continuous reports on congestion along your route in most metropolitan areas, so you can steer clear of potential delays. Lifetime Maps allows you to update your TomTom up to four times every year as long as you own it, so your maps and POIs stay current. Simply connect your navigator to your computer, and use the code on the enclosed Lifetime Maps card to download the available map updates from TomTom's website.

Voice recognition and more
TomTom's intuitive voice recognition lets you speak your destination address in one step so you can be on your way — you don't have to pronounce the street, city, and state separately. Voice prompts announce actual street names at turns, so you'll hear "turn right on Roosevelt Boulevard" instead of "take the next right." Advanced lane guidance gives you plenty of notice to get in the proper lane for upcoming turns and traffic circles. TomTom's IQ Routes™ technology uses actual average travel speeds rather than posted speed limits to find the quickest route, so it'll route you around roadways that are always clogged at certain times of day.

Keep up with road changes with MapShare
You can use TomTom's MapShare software to fix map inaccuracies on your own, instead of waiting for the next update. You can edit speed limits, points of interest, street names and directions, and more right on your GO 2435 TM. You can also report an error directly to TomTom online and share the fix with other TomTom users. TomTom verifies all changes so you can import edits made by others to your navigator.

Who needs a portable navigator?

Portable GPS puts you in touch with the world when you're on the road. Tap the restaurant icon, and it asks you what kind of food you're looking for. Type in "Mexican," and you're eating a burrito before you know it. A portable navigator not only gets you to your destination, it can also find museums, theaters, and other spots along the way. Many navigators receive traffic reports, so you can avoid jams. Other cool features range from hands-free calling to 3D graphics and lane guidance. Best of all, you can move a portable easily from car to car, a big plus for multi-car families.

Navigation Features

North America Maps: Maps of the United States, Canada, Puerto Rico, US Virgin Islands, and parts of Mexico are installed on the unit's built-in 4 GB flash memory.

Lifetime Map Updates: With the Lifetime Map Updates subscription, you can download up to four map data updates per year from tomtom.com.

Note: The non-transferable Lifetime Map Updates subscription is good for the unit's useful life or until TomTom no longer receives map updates from its suppliers, whichever is shorter.

4.3" Widescreen: The GO 2435 TM features a 4.3" widescreen, capacitive glass touch-panel LCD display (480 x 272 pixels). As with some smartphones, you can move from page to page by swiping your finger across the screen, and pinch to zoom.

GPS Receiver: The TomTom GO 2435 TM features a high sensitivity GPS chipset that gives you fast, accurate positioning.

Voice Recognition: TomTom Voice Recognition technology lets you speak commands and destination addresses so you can keep your hands on the wheel and eyes on the road. This intuitive Voice Recognition feature will recognize several variations of the same command. You can also use Voice Recognition to change display and audio settings, as well as make phone calls with the built-in Bluetooth.

Driving View: When the TomTom GO 2435 TM starts, you are shown the Driving View screen, which shows your immediate locations on the current route. The Driving View screen displays your current position; the name of the next major road or road sign information; navigation instructions for the road ahead; the name of the next street to turn on to, information about your trip time, remaining distance and arrival time; GPS signal strength; and Traffic bar. You can tap the screen to zoom in and out of your route.

Text-To-Speech: The GO 2435 TM also announces directions and street names giving you easier guidance and allowing you to focus better on the road ahead.

IQ Routes Technology: The GO 2435 TM calculates your routes based on the real average speed measured on roads rather than the posted speed limits. IQ Routes takes into account the time of day you're traveling a road, and how rush hour traffic, pedestrian traffic, and traffic light changes can affect actual traffic speed. You will get a more accurate ETA and the fastest recommended route based on real world data.

Eco Routes: Using the driving data of millions of TomTom users, the unit can indicate which routes are the most fuel-efficient to save you money and have a lower environmental impact.

Advanced Lane Guidance: When navigating difficult intersections, the GO 2435 TM uses realistic images and a pulsing green arrow to indicate which lane you should drive in to best negotiate the turns.

Points Of Interest: The GO 2435 TM gives you access to approximately 7 million pre-loaded Points of Interest (POIs) including fuel stations, parking, restaurants, cash machines, and lots more. The POIs are indicated by icons, and in some cases, logos of the business (such as Chevron, Hampton Inn, and Wendy's). You can select which POI categories you want to display.

Favorite Locations: The Favorite menu allows you to store into memory those locations that you visit frequently. You can choose a favorite location the same way you choose a destination. The following menu options are available; Home, Address, Recent Destination, Point Of Interest, Point On Map, GPS Position (allows you to store your current location quickly), latitude and longitude, and the location where your TomTom was last used.

Help Me! Menu: This feature gives you direct access to safety and road assistance information, such as the phone number and route description to the nearest police station or hospital.

Map Share Technology: TomTom's exclusive Map Share feature enables you to add to, update, and personalize your maps instantly. It also lets you share and benefit from fellow users' changes - daily, automatically, and easily. TomTom's large satellite navigation community contributes and exchanges map changes amongst each other, giving you the latest, most accurate and up-to-date mapping information.

Traffic Information

RDS-TMC Traffic: The GO 2435 TM's cigarette lighter power adapter includes an integrated RDS-TMC traffic receiver, allowing you to get the latest traffic updates while you power the unit. The unit must be powered by the included power cord in order for you to receive traffic data.

Note: The Lifetime Traffic subscription is non-transferable, and lasts for the life of the unit, or until TomTom no longer receives traffic updates from its suppliers, whichever is shorter.

Built-in Bluetooth

Bluetooth Hands-free Calling: The GO 2435 TM has built-in Bluetooth technology for hands-free calling with a compatible mobile phone. After pairing your phone with the GPS unit, you'll be able to see incoming call information, make and answer calls, and talk hands-free through the device. You'll also have access to your mobile phone book.

Mounting Options

Magnetic Mount: The GO 2435 TM comes with a suction-cup mount for installing the unit in your vehicle. You can mount the unit on the windshield (using the suction cup), or mount it on the dash (using the supplied adhesive disk). The mount has a magnetic cradle that holds the GPS unit firmly.

Update Incompatible with Win 7 64 Bit

Written By Byronp, San Gabriel, CA on Saturday, October 01, 2011

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I purchased this from Crutchfield, used it 2 days, and it worked great. Very bright display, sunlight legible, voice interface useful, good routing, but only one English voice that pronounces street names (female - I prefer male). Then I tried to update the maps, per instructions. Installed My TomTom on Win 7 64-bit,, started 2 hour download, then 2 hour installation. When 99% complete received a message that something had gone wrong. GPS was left without maps and useless. Tried again, got message that there was not enough room for maps, but finally downloaded & installed. However, voice entry of addresses was disabled. Got message that these maps did not support voiced address entry! Emailed TomTom, got stock non-helpful response. Called, spent 2 hours on phone, could not fix it, so returned to Crutchfield & received replacement.. Tried updating the replacement again, and exactly the same thing happened. Will return to Crutchfield and buy a different model. Too bad, but TomTom does not have it together.
