About the TomTom VIA 1435 TM
TomTom's VIA 1435 TM portable navigator offers their trademark friendly guidance and a slew of useful extras to help along the way. It reduces distractions when you're driving by offering hands-free operation with voice command recognition and built-in Bluetooth® connectivity. Free Lifetime Traffic Updates alert you to congestion along your route, while Lifetime Map Updates allow you to keep your maps current.
North American coverage
The compact 4.3" VIA 1435 TM features detailed maps of the U.S., Canada, and Puerto Rico, plus much of Mexico, so you can explore the continent freely. Millions of preloaded points of interest let you quickly locate destinations such as hotels, public transportation, and shopping centers. You can add your own favorite stopping points for future travels. TomTom's new Fold & Go EasyPort mount makes it easy to move the navigator between cars or to take it with you for safekeeping.
Hands-free control
The VIA 1435 TM's built-in Bluetooth connectivity lets you make and receive phone calls through your compatible cell phone without using your hands, so you can concentrate on driving. Voice address input means you don't have to type addresses on the screen any more, while voice recognition lets you perform simple commands just by speaking them aloud.
Lifetime Traffic Updates and Lifetime Maps
With Lifetime Traffic Updates, your navigator receives continuous reports on congestion along your route in most metropolitan areas, so you can steer clear of potential delays. Lifetime Maps allows you to update your TomTom up to four times every year as long as you own it, so your maps and POIs stay current. Simply connect your navigator to your computer, and use the code on the enclosed Lifetime Maps card to download the available map updates from TomTom's website.
Leading the way
Text-to-speech voice prompts announce the actual street names of upcoming turns, so you'll hear "turn right on Marsh Hill Road," instead of "take the next right." Advanced lane guidance shows you exactly where you should be to make the next maneuver. TomTom's IQ Routes technology uses actual average travel speeds rather than posted speed limits to find the quickest route to your destination. For example, if the shortest route to your destination is traditionally slow when you're approaching, the TomTom will look for a better way there.
Be prepared for unexpected road changes
With TomTom's MapShare software, you can fix map inaccuracies on the spot, instead of waiting for the next update. You can edit speed limits, points of interest, street names and directions, and more right on your VIA 1435 TM. You can also report the error directly to TomTom online and choose to share the fix with other TomTom users. TomTom verifies all changes so you can import edits made by others to your navigator.

Lifetime Map Updates: With the Lifetime Map Updates subscription, you can download up to four map data updates per year from tomtom.com.
Note: The non-transferable Lifetime Map Updates subscription is good for the unit's useful life or until TomTom no longer receives map updates from its suppliers, whichever is shorter.
4.3" Widescreen: The VIA 1435 TM features a 4.3" widescreen, touch-panel LCD display (480 x 272 pixels) with an anti-glare coating for easy viewing and simple operation.
GPS Receiver: The TomTom VIA 1435 TM features a high sensitivity GPS chipset that gives you fast, accurate positioning.
Voice Recognition: TomTom Voice Recognition technology lets you speak commands and destination addresses so you can keep your hands on the wheel and eyes on the road. This intuitive Voice Recognition feature will recognize several variations of the same command. You can also use Voice Recognition to change display and audio settings, as well as make phone calls with the built-in Bluetooth.
Driving View: When the TomTom VIA 1435 TM starts, you are shown the Driving View screen, which shows your immediate locations on the current route. The Driving View screen displays your current position; the name of the next major road or road sign information; navigation instructions for the road ahead; the name of the next street to turn on to, information about your trip time, remaining distance and arrival time; GPS signal strength; and Traffic bar. You can tap the screen to zoom in and out of your route.
Text-To-Speech: The VIA 1435 TM also announces directions and street names giving you easier guidance and allowing you to focus better on the road ahead.
IQ Routes Technology: The VIA 1435 TM calculates your routes based on the real average speed measured on roads rather than the posted speed limits. IQ Routes takes into account the time of day you're traveling a road, and how rush hour traffic, pedestrian traffic, and traffic light changes can affect actual traffic speed. You will get a more accurate ETA and the fastest recommended route based on real world data.
Eco Routes: Using the driving data of millions of TomTom users, the unit can indicate which routes are the most fuel-efficient to save you money and have a lower environmental impact.
Advanced Lane Guidance: When navigating difficult intersections, the VIA 1435 TM uses realistic images and a pulsing green arrow to indicate which lane you should drive in to best negotiate the turns.
Points Of Interest: The VIA 1435 TM gives you access to approximately 7 million pre-loaded Points of Interest (POIs) including fuel stations, parking, restaurants, cash machines, and lots more. The POIs are indicated by icons, and in some cases, logos of the business (such as Chevron, Hampton Inn, and Wendy's). You can select which POI categories you want to display.
Favorite Locations: The Favorite menu allows you to store into memory those locations that you visit frequently. You can choose a favorite location the same way you choose a destination. The following menu options are available; Home, Address, Recent Destination, Point Of Interest, Point On Map, GPS Position (allows you to store your current location quickly), latitude and longitude, and the location where your TomTom was last used.
Help Me! Menu: This feature gives you direct access to safety and road assistance information, such as the phone number and route description to the nearest police station or hospital.
Map Share Technology: TomTom's exclusive Map Share feature enables you to add to, update, and personalize your maps instantly. It also lets you share and benefit from fellow users' changes - daily, automatically, and easily. TomTom's large satellite navigation community contributes and exchanges map changes amongst each other, giving you the latest, most accurate and up-to-date mapping information.
Traffic Information
RDS-TMC Traffic: The VIA 1435 TM includes a cigarette lighter power adapter with an integrated RDS-TMC traffic receiver, which allows you to get the latest traffic updates while you power the unit. The unit must be powered by the included power cord in order for you to receive traffic data.
Note: The Lifetime Traffic subscription is non-transferable, and lasts for the life of the unit, or until TomTom no longer receives traffic updates from its suppliers, whichever is shorter.
