TomTom's VIA 1505 TM portable navigator delivers the GPS essentials for hassle-free travel. Not only will it guide you around town like a seasoned cab driver, but you can enjoy its maps on a bright, colorful 5" display. It offers free Lifetime Traffic Updates that alert you to congestion along your route, plus Lifetime Map Updates that allow you to keep your maps current as long as you own your TomTom.

Take it from Mexico to Manitoba
You want some map detail? The VIA 1505's impressive 5" display gives you more to look at when exploring its maps of the U.S., Canada, Puerto Rico, and much of Mexico. Millions of points of interest let you find plenty of potential stopping points, from ATMs to zoos and everything in between. The super-slim VIA 1505 TM can go in your pocket easily when you leave the car, and TomTom's new Fold & Go EasyPort™ mount makes removing and reattaching the navigator quick and painless.

Lifetime Traffic Updates and Lifetime Maps
With Lifetime Traffic Updates, your navigator receives continuous reports on congestion along your route in most metropolitan areas, so you can steer clear of potential delays. Lifetime Maps allows you to update your TomTom up to four times every year as long as you own it, so your maps and POIs stay current. Simply connect your navigator to your computer, and use the code on the enclosed Lifetime Maps card to download the available map updates from TomTom's website.

Reliable, easy-to-follow guidance
The VIA 1505 TM's voice prompts say street names at upcoming turns, so you'll hear "turn right on Lexington Road" instead of "take the next right." And advanced lane guidance makes it easy to stay on the correct path in situations where a missed turn could lead to many lost minutes. And TomTom's IQ Routes™ technology uses actual average travel speeds rather than posted speed limits to find the quickest route to your destination. For example, if the shortest route to your destination is traditionally slow in the afternoon, the TomTom will look for a better way there.

Shared, updated maps let us all travel more efficiently
With TomTom's MapShare software, you can fix map inaccuracies on the spot, instead of waiting for the next update. You can edit speed limits, points of interest, street names and directions, and more right on your VIA 1505 TM. You can also report the error directly to TomTom online and choose to share the fix with other TomTom users. TomTom verifies all changes so you can import edits made by others to your navigator.

Other features and specs:

Who needs a portable navigator?

A portable navigator eliminates the issue of phone coverage. You don't use data, and you always have maps - even when your phone has no (or slow) service. The maps in a portable navigator are superior to your phone's maps, as are the turn-by-turn directions. Modern GPS navigators have larger screens than most phones, so it's easier to see the map at a glance. Navigators with 3D maps really help you orient yourself quickly in urban areas. If you've got a lead foot, most navigators can also warn you when you are exceeding the speed limit.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This is a great product. I would rate it a 5 but there is room for improvement in the user friendliness and updates. Corrections made years ago still have not been updates. But that is pretty much with every GPS. Order extra mounting discs for all your cars in that suction cup tends to break loose from windshield. Not good having these mini computers bang around.

Awesome GPS

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Replaced last year's model, which was stolen from our car. Absolutely love the newer traffic alerts, which let you know when you're no longer on the best route. Quickly finds a signal and is very quick to re-route when we go off the route or attempt to try something new.

Pros: Traffic alerts for free, updates for map for free, and nice easy to see display.

Cons: The newer mount is not as easy to use as the older one when mounting on our dash, but on the wind shield, it's good.

The POIs are indicated by icons, and in some cases, logos of the business (such as Chevron, Hampton Inn, and Wendy's). You can select which POI categories you want to display.

Favorite Locations: The Favorite menu allows you to store into memory those locations that you visit frequently. You can choose a favorite location the same way you choose a destination. The following menu options are available; Home, Address, Recent Destination, Point Of Interest, Point On Map, GPS Position (allows you to store your current location quickly), latitude and longitude, and the location where your TomTom was last used.

Help Me! Menu: This feature gives you direct access to safety and road assistance information, such as the phone number and route description to the nearest police station or hospital.

Map Share Technology: TomTom's exclusive Map Share feature enables you to add to, update, and personalize your maps instantly.
