About the BDI Arena 9970 Flat-panel TV Swivel Mount

Ralph Graves

The BDI Arena 9970 mount attaches to the back of select BDI audio/video cabinets. It positions your TV just above the cabinet, and provides a great solution for places where you can't — or prefer not to — drill into the wall. The 9970 can support a flat-panel TV with a screen size from 40" to 70". The mount also swivels slightly from left to right for minor viewing adjustments. A channel in the bracket hides cables running to the TV, maintaining a clean, uncluttered look.

Q
Can this mount handle a 75 inch Samsung TV mounted to a BDI entertainment center?

I have a 65 inch Panasonic plasma which weighs probably 150 pounds. This mount handles it just fine. On the 65 inch tv with the mount at the highest position, there's about 12 inches of clearance between the bottom of the tv and the cabinet.

Yes it should. It's very sturdy and holds my 65" without issue.

Owned Equipment: Sony Bravia KDL 46XBR3 Owned Equipment: Yamaha YSP 1000 sound bar Thinking-of-buying Equipment: BDI Nora 8239 cabinet Thinking-of-buying Equipment: Arena 9970 TV mount Question: Can the soundbar and tv be mounted to the Arena 9970 (and the wires sufficiently well hidden)?

I'm not sure how you would "mount" the soundbar, but the tv mount offers plenty of adjustability. I have a 42" Hatachi Ultravision mounted high enough to place my Klipsch RC-62 II centered under the tv and it aimed upward towards ear level in my primary seating position. The cabinet has ample room for all my equipment (Denon 3312 / Monster power conditioner on one side and Dish receiver / Oppo and gaming system on the other). I was able to hide all the cables.

Q
I need to have my tv high in the air. At least 36" or more from the ground to the bottom of the tv. Will this stand allow for that?

A
That depends on the size and mount location on your TV. I wanted this stand + the BDI Nora cabinet for my 75" Samsung 8000 series TV but was not sure of the fit since BDI indicated a 65" TV maximum. I asked BDI about it and they said the TV probably would not clear the top of the cabinet. I sat down with pen and paper and did the math for the various dimensions and figured it would probably fit - so since Crutchfield allows a 'return for any reason' I decided to take a gamble. I found that the BDI guys' were being HUGELY conservative with their estimates as I can get about a foot and a half clearnace from the top of the cabinet, whereas they said it probably wouldn't have any clearance. I now you are not asking about cabinet clearance - I'm pointing the above out only to say "don't be too swayed by BDI's estimates if you ask them". With the Nora cainet and the Arena stand, I could get the bottom of my TV to be as much as 33" from the floor. That's for a 75" TV which is 37" high and has the mount locations central (not biased towards the top or bottom of the TV). Best I can recommend is that you sketch out a layout of your TV's dimensions compared to mine and see if that allows you the extra 3". Hope that helps.
