Features
Overview: The Marantz IS301 iPod docking station allows easy and
flexible integration of select docking style iPods to your home audio system; in
addition to using your television to display your iPod's Music and Video
library. By connecting an iPod and your home audio equipment via the IS301, you
can play back audio files stored in your iPod on your audio equipment and video
files from your iPod on your TV. The Marantz IS301 consists of a wireless
Bluetooth
handset (with iPod dock), wired base unit, Bluetooth extender module, and IR wireless remote control.
The IS301 offers wired or wireless installation and is designed to be table-top
or wall mounted so you can integrate the Marantz iPod docking station into your
home AV system quickly and easily.
Wireless Bluetooth Handset: The Marantz IS301 features a wireless Bluetooth
handset which features an integrated iPod dock. The handset can be used to
wirelessly transmit your iPod's audio to your home audio system in conjunction
with the supplied extender module or hardwired to your A/V system for audio and
video playback of your iPod when connected to the included base unit and
extender module. The wireless handset features a mini-USB connector and comes
supplied with a USB cable to connect the unit to a PC and synchronize your iPod
with iTunes. The handset features an integrated battery which is charged while
docked in the base unit.
Base Unit: The base unit of the Marantz IS301 allows you to dock and
charge the supplied wireless handset as well as your iPod. The base unit
features two RJ-45 ports and comes supplied with two CAT-5 cables which allow
audio/video connection to the include extender module. There is a video switch
on the base unit which allows you to choose what type of connection you will be
using on your TV for your iPod's video: Composite, S-video, or Component. The
base unit operates off of AC power using the supplied AC adapter. The base unit
can be table-top mounted or wall-mounted using the supplied mounting screws.
Bluetooth Extender Module: The IS301's Bluetooth extender module provides a wireless
connection to the system's handset and a wired connection to the system's base
unit and your home A/V system. The extender module receives wireless audio
transmission from your iPod when docked to the handset via Bluetooth technology.
The extender module also features two RJ-45 inputs which allow you to connect
the base unit of the system for audio and video playback of your iPod. The
extender module then features the following audio/video outputs to transmit
signal to your home audio system and television from the handset and base unit:
Stereo RCA, Composite video, S-video, and Component video. The extender module
operates off of standard household AC current using the supplied AC power
adapter. The unit can be table-top or wall-mounting using the supplied mounting
screws.
Wireless Remote Control: The Marantz IS301 comes supplied
with an IR wireless remote control which allows you to control basic functions
of your iPod when it is docked to both the system's handset and base unit. The IR remote features controls such
as Play, Pause, Next, Previous, Shuffle, Repeat, and Menu.
Wired or Wireless Connection: The Marantz IS301 iPod docking station
can be hooked to your home audio system either wirelessly or using a wired
connection for audio playback. The IS301 requires a wired connection for video
output to your TV.
- Wired Connection: The Marantz IS301 can be connected to your home
audio system and TV using the supplied base unit and handset (which features
an integrated
dock connector), in conjunction with the extender module. The base unit
provides a dock for the handset (which features the integrate iPod dock) and
has two RJ-45 ports which connect to the extender module using the
two supplied 5' CAT-5 cables. One CAT-5 cable carries the audio signal of
your iPod, while the other CAT-5 cable carries the video signal to the
extender module. The extender module then outputs your iPod's audio/video
signal to your connected home receiver and TV using its stereo RCA outputs
and one of its video outputs (composite, S-video, or component). While
docked in the handset and base unit, you can enjoy: audio/video playback on your home
A/V system from your iPod, control of your iPod using the supplied IR
wireless remote control (or iPod itself), and charging of your iPod's
battery.
- Wireless Connection: The Marantz IS301 can also wirelessly
transmit audio from your iPod to your home audio system using the supplied
handset (when disconnected from the base unit) and the extender module. The
wireless handset iPod dock and extender module feature Bluetooth wireless
communication. When your iPod is docked in the handset, the handset will
wirelessly transmit your iPod's audio to the extender module which then
transmits the iPod's audio signal to your home audio system via a stereo RCA
connection. The handset can be up to 32.8 feet away from extender module.
iPod Compatibility: The Marantz IS301 supports IR remote
control, charging, and playback of select iPod models. Your home A/V
system needs to feature a Stereo RCA
input and a composite video, S-video, or component video input. The Marantz
IS301 is "Made for iPod compatible" and supports the following iPod model

display information, such as song, artist, and album. Apple
iPod/iPhone software updates may change functionality results. If
you download a newer software version, you may need to reset the
device and your iPod/iPhone to regain functionality. If this doesn't
work, you may need to revert to the older software version or wait
until an newer software update is available.
Other Bluetooth Device Compatibility: The included extender module can
be connected with other Bluetooth devices with the A2DP/AVRCP profile. You can
pair up to Bluetooth enabled 8 devices. This allows you to wirelessly transmit
audio from your Bluetooth enabled PC, cell-phone, or other digital audio device
to the IS301's extender module which is then connected to your home audio system
via a stereo RCA connection.
