Want to give your speakers a treat? Connect them to the Marantz SR6008 receiver and listen as your home theater comes to life. Marantz's devotion to sound quality means this receiver is designed to bring out the best in your speakers, as well as source components like Blu-ray players, cable and satellite boxes — even your iPhone®. Connections for 9 speakers offer multi-zone flexibility as well as 7.2-channel surround sound that puts the "theater" in home theater. Plus, this receiver's networking capability opens up your listening options to millions of songs, so you can bring more music into your home theater without lifting a single CD.
Take advantage of online and streaming music by connecting the SR6008 to your home network. It has built-in support for free Internet radio, Pandora®, and subscription services like Spotify® and SiriusXM. If you have a Wi-Fi® router, then take advantage of AirPlay compatibility for streaming music from an iPhone, iPad®, or a computer running iTunes®. Access your entire digital music collection from the palm of your hand with your Apple® device. Or stream audio from any AirPlay-compatible app — like YouTube™ or Beats Music™ — to the SR6008 for playback over your home theater speakers. You can also stream music from PCs and select Android™ devices with DLNA-compatibility. AirPlay requires a wireless home network and a wired connection between the receiver and network.
When building audio/video components, Marantz pays careful attention to those little details that make the difference between good and superb performance. The proprietary Hyper Dynamic Amplifier Module (HDAM) improves dynamic range and detail while minimizing noise to bring your music to life. A high-current power supply and direct mode further ensure you get the most out of your favorite tunes. High-quality 24-bit/192kHz digital-to-analog converters can decode the latest high-resolution formats — even FLAC, WAV, and Apple Lossless files streamed wirelessly. If you're streaming low-bitrate files like MP3s, Marantz's Dynamic Audio eXpander improves sound quality by adding more depth to these compressed formats.
Download the free Marantz Remote app to control the SR6008 with your smartphone.
With the SR6008's "power amp assign" feature, you'll have several options for speaker setup tailored to your gear. Use all seven channels in your home theater for room-filling 7.2-channel surround sound. Or reassign the "surround back" channels to power stereo speakers in a second room while still enjoying 5.2-channel sound in your main zone. An extra HDMI output lets you watch one movie in your main room while the kids watch a TV show in another room. You can send any digital or analog source to Zone 2, giving you more freedom to enjoy movies and music in multiple rooms at the same time.
Worried about making all the right connections? Marantz walks you through the process with the SR6008's easy setup assistant. It guides you step by step through placing and connecting your speakers, hooking up source components, and optimizing all the settings so it all sounds great in your room. Plus, Audyssey's acclaimed speaker calibration system will automatically take measurements and make adjustments to tune your speakers to match your room. Just plug in the included setup microphone and let the receiver do the rest.
Once you're set up, be sure to download the free Marantz Remote app for your Apple or Android smartphone or tablet. It offers intuitive touchscreen control of the SR6008 and is the easiest way to operate many of its features and settings. Choose your source, adjust the volume, and even select music from your DLNA-compatible music server or computer.
Your receiver powers your speakers and lets you connect and select your entertainment sources. But a great receiver does a lot more it ignites your emotions. From the passion of a favorite musical artist, to the crossfire of a super-charged movie soundtrack, to the intensity and immersion of a fast-paced video game, your receiver is the key to experiencing and enjoying it in full.
Ive owned the SR5008 and it overheated and shuts down at half volume every time so I upgraded to the SR6008 and it does the same. I contact Marantz support and triple checked everything to no avail. These receivers have a defect.
I wanted Bluetooth capability in my HT receiver so I decided to try this receiver out, and replace my 7 year old Onkyo. I have a Marantz SACD player so I figured why not, try it out. The SQ of the receiver was good; the Marantz has better imaging and detail, but the amplifier section could not keep up with my old Onkyo. The Onkyo happens to be THX Ultra 2 certified so that may have something to do with it. The Marantz seem to lack a presence that the Onkyo's amplifier section provided. Its not the raw number of watts per channel as the Onkyo only is rated at 125 watts x 7. I really wanted to like this receiver due to its elegant looks and its relatively light weight compared to the 53lb Onkyo, but in the end the Onkyo performed better so back it went. This receiver would probably sound good paired with a decent outboard amplifier
Pros: Good sound quality
Cons: amplifier section and complicated set up
Just came home from Afghanistan after 9 months. The few times I had access to a computer I was researching receiver's. This one kept coming up and I really wanted to replace my old sony and it has everything! Sound quality is 100% better with the same Martin Logan speakers. Now I'm not an audiophile or anything, I've probably lost more hearing than most after 5 deployments but it's amazing. And I've always wanted a Marantz, my dad had one for 20 years and it still works so I know there sturdy. It's complicated, you have to reference the manual for 75% of what you do but it's worth it! The Apple app is pretty high speed as well.
The sound is awesome but the instructions were written for professionals and not the novice. It would help if it was written along the lines of "step 1, step 2, etc". I had to have a friend help me with the setup and contacted the Crutchfield support group many times.
Pros: Quality product and quality sound. Very helpful support group.
Cons: Complicated set up and vague instructions.
This is an excellent receiver. I bought this for my large living room and the sound quality is amazing, even at high volumes. I did a lot of research and picked it over Denon x4000 because of quality of parts used in between Denon and Marantz (its two levels up if not more).
Pros: Sound Quality, Looks, Features
Pros: Sound fidelity
I used to have a Yamaha RX-V671. The difference from YPAO (the old version) and Audyssey from heaven to earth. Now hear and detect sounds not heard before, both in music and in movies. Amazing!
Pros: Clarity in sound. Musicality. Easy to set up.
Cons: The display is particularly small. But I'll get used to see the options on TV.
I had researched a number of AV Receivers that also produced excellent sound for music listening. This product has not dissapointed me. I am extremely impressed with the sound from Internet sources which are usually in compressed audio formats. Very high quality build and reasonably priced for a higher-end product.
Pros: Excellent sound reproduction. Wide variety of input options. Build quality is first rate. Received both excellent customer support from both Crutchfield and Marantaz.
Cons: Can run warm when both Zones are in operation.
Has ALL the features I wanted. I wanted AirPlay on Zone 2. (First receiver I purchased only output analog on Zone 2.) I purchased a 2nd receiver which did output Airplay in zone 2 but the sound quality was POOR and there was no sound quality adjustment. This ended up being the third receiver and it is incredible. Zone 2 sound is loud, powerful, adjustable and has plenty of bass. Love listening to my iTunes from anywhere in the house and being able to control the music. Has a nice phone app too. Thrilled with ALL the features and quality of this product after a long search.
Pros: Easy set up. Excellent features. Incredible sound esp. on zone 2. Airplay for zone 2. Simple remote with nice key size.
Cons: manual is on disc only
Right out of the box as soon as I played some music from my cable tv the receiver sounded good. I could tell immediately I made the right choice spending a little extra and going with the Marantz. Once I tweaked a few things I really haven't felt the need to adjust anything else. The menus are easy to navigate/understand and allow you to adjust tons of parameters. I suggest downloading the manual from Marantz.com to learn everything the SR6008 has to offer. One thing I missed was this receiver is not Wi-Fi ready. It needs to be connected to a ethernet cable to connect to your network or you can buy a wi-fi box separately. I have a Spotify account and the Spotify app on the receiver is wonderful. The Marantz remote control app for iphones, ipads etc.is well thought out and allows you to control Spotify as well. I could go on all day but in a nutshell this is the best receiver I have ever owned and excels in sound quality as well as its many options. Do it!
Pros: Ease of operation and excellent sound quality. Remote control app is excellent. Spotify is a great addition to the apps.
Cons: Not wi-fi ready but that isn't a big deal.
Set up is very easy and the sound is great. Heavy piece of equipment with the build and finish being top notch. I have had this for 3 weeks now and have been completely satisfied with both movies and music. I used the Audyssey set up for system calibration and found it to be simple and functional. My old system (same speakers) was lacking in overall surround performance especially in the center channel. I now have good clear sound from all speakers and the voices from the center couldn't be better. Great Product.
Pros: Provides good solid sound output to speaker system for both movies and music. Easy set up.
Cons: Nothing to note.
I've owned a number of AVR's. Some are complicated to set up but sound nice once mastered. Others have easy installation but then offer few options. The Marantz SR6008, however, is simple to set up yet has menus galore for the audio tweakers out there.
The Audyssey set up sounded just fine to my ears. Best I've heard. I decided to add front wide speakers to my PSB W3 LCR speaker bar, however, since it's an option. This gave a panorama effect that was totally enthralling. That was especially true with the newer HD codecs. Even with all 7.1 channels in play the unit ran reasonably cool. Go figure. So often fans are an essential.
There is a seductiveness to the sound of this amp which kept me coming back for more. There is dynamic punch and bass when needed but the midrange also serves voices well. This AVR does well with action films, live opera, music only Blu Ray discs, as well as regular CD's. All-in-one receivers have many masters to please, I know, but the compromises in this unit seem well thought out. Music does seem to matter.
I would highly recommend one of these units if you're in the market for an AVR. Marantz has three models and I'll wager most folks could happily exist with either of the less expensive units. If you have deep pockets or need 9.1 sound by all means spring for the SR7008. You also get more advanced Audyssey that will trim your subs. But most of the truly useful options seem to be present in the SR 6008 for $800 less. That ain't chump change.
Pros: Musical Sound. Ease of set up. Comprehensive menus. Small footprint. Runs reasonably cool.
Cons: Some systems may require more power for peak material.
Much better than 5008 from functionality stand point. Great sound. Very easy to set up.
Got is as opened box and in perfect shape as promised by Bruce. Crutchfield is great company.
Got it to replace my failed onkyo-NR808 which I loved...
Pros: Zone 2 D2A conversions. Great sound. Watching four previews works like a charm! Options feature works great. Speaker Self set up is flawless (but kinda long). I like video enhancements (through options) Internet radio is awesome (compared to my failed onkyo-NR808)
Cons: Awkward switching between enabling zone2 and 7.2 modes. It resets some of the speaker settings when you switch (the height ones are disabled by default). 4 previews IMHO is useless.

When you make an HDMI connection with a TV or player compatible with the SR6008's HDMI control function, you can perform the operations from the SR6008's remote control; Power off, Switching of audio output devices, Switching of audio input devices, Volume adjustment, and Playback functions.
Marantz Remote App: The Marantz Remote App lets you control the Marantz Network A/V receiver using your Apple iOS (4.3 or later) or Android device. This free Remote App lets you control the Marantz A/V receiver's basic functions (power, volume, input, surround modes) from your Apple iOS or Android device. The multi-zone control page of the Remote App lets you adjust power, volume and input selection for all zones from a single screen (when applicable). You can even navigate the A/V receiver's network and Internet content from your compatible Apple iOS or Android device. For added convenience, there are eight customizable home screen short cut buttons that allow you to tailor the look and function of the Marantz Remote App to suit your needs.
Note: Download the free Marantz Remote App from the iTunes App Store for the iPod touch, iPhone, or iPad (iOS 4.3 or later). Or, download the free Marantz Remote App from the Android Market for your compatible Android device (1.5-up). The AV receiver will need to be connected to the same network as your Apple iOS or Android device.
Bluetooth Adapter (optional): Through its proprietary M-Xport, the SR6008 offers Bluetooth capability. Simply add the optional RX101 Bluetooth adaptor (642RX101, sold separately) to the SR6008 and you can play the music stored on any Bluetooth-enabled portable device (your iPhone, iPod Touch, or PDA for example) through your home theater system. The optional RX101 doubles as an IR (infrared) receiver so you can place all your components out of sight and still maintain full remote control.
Remote Connections: The Marantz SR6008 is fitted with the following custom remote inputs/outputs.
no not at all. the logitech's are the best sound amazing [ Leonard Jan 08, 2014 ]
I have klipsch in my system and it shoulds great. I have a denon and a B&K and I will likely now be a 100% maranta convert. Buy with confidence. [ KEVIN C Jan 05, 2014 ]
James, Just got my SR6008 in December. I'm driving Definitive Technology STS towers and couldn't be happier with the performance of this receiver. Looks like the AR 7s are similar to me. Should be a good fit. [ PATRICK Jan 05, 2014 ]
Hi James, The receiver is awesome. Provides a lot of power and has a multitude of audio/visual options available. [ GUY J Jan 05, 2014 ]
I don't see why not. I run mine with Polk RTI A5's which sound great. I would think the A7's would be even better. [ GERARD Jan 05, 2014 ]
Hi James. Hard to know if a specific set of speakers is a good match for an AVR until you actually hook them up. I would say I've used this receiver with a few different speakers in the past month and it has a very inviting sound, overall, which has done well with all of them. I certainly think it might be worth a try if it has adequate power for your system. [ PAUL L. Jan 05, 2014 ]
I believe it will be a fine match. I am using Magnapan 1.6 planer speakers which sound great. [ GEORGE Jan 04, 2014 ]

Awesome Jeff, and thanks, next, how do I set up my 6.1 system within the parameters of the SR6008? Mark Green. [ Mark Dec 08, 2013 ]
The SR6008 does not have a built in WiFi adapter. The Marantz SR6008 is equipped with an Ethernet (RJ-45) port that lets you connect the receiver to your home network (LAN) and your broadband internet provider. [ Jeff Dec 07, 2013 ] Staff
