Entertainment for all your surroundings

You take the words "home AV enthusiast" seriously and you've got the gear to prove it. That's why the Marantz SR7007 is right for you. Seven HDMI inputs, including one on the front panel, mean that you have plenty of hookups for your high-def components; a Blu-ray player, game system, cable or satellite TV box, high-def video camera and more. But three HDMI outputs let you feed one signal to a TV and projector in a media room and a separate signal to a third display. Whatever entertainment you have cued up, the SR7007's solid amplification and advanced processing ensure outstanding surround sound and video performance.

Convenient iTunes® playback with AirPlay®

Apple's easy-to-use AirPlay technology lets you access your favorite music wirelessly from your iPhone®, iPad®, or iPod touch®. You'll be able to control iTunes and see music information — including album art, track titles, and artist info on your compatible Apple device, or on your TV. Of course you can connect your iPod easily to the front-panel USB port's direct digital connection. You'll love the great sound as your music gets the top-notch treatment of the receiver's audio circuitry instead of the iPod's. AirPlay requires a wireless home network and a wired connection between the receiver and network.

Take control with your smartphone

Download a free app and your Android™ or iPhone® becomes a convenient Wi-Fi® remote. This intuitive app is unimpeded by the obstacles that block line-of-site reception for typical infrared-based remotes, so you can be in the bedroom and turn up the sound in the living room without touching the receiver. Requires connection to a wireless home network.

The bottomless playlist

With the click of a cable in the rear Ethernet port you literally open a door to a world of music. Choose from thousands of Internet radio stations or explore online services like SiriusXM or Pandora Internet radio. You can even stream music and pictures from your home network.

Take your records out for a spin

For vinyl fans, there's nothing else like it. The Marantz SR7007 has a dedicated input for your turntable. Whether you're new to hot wax, thumbing through albums older than your kids or grabbing some bargains at a yard sale, this receiver stands ready for you and your favorite tracks.

Quick and easy setup and control

The Marantz SR7007 has an on-board setup assistant to help you make all the right connections for your system. Use the supplied microphone to analyze sound from different listening positions, then sit back as the receiver automatically adjusts level, equalization, and delay settings for each of your speakers. The result is accurate response across a wide listening area instead of just a single "sweet spot," so everyone in the room can enjoy precisely balanced home theater sound.

    So glad I bought this!

Written By ChuckW, Virginia on Sunday, September 13, 2015

Needed a new receiver as mine got smoked by a lightening strike. Did some research. I needed 3 zones that all take digital inputs and had amplified outputs. I run 5.1 in the main listening area but needed amplified outputs to upstairs and outside. The system is flawless. Pretty easy set-up, great sound, can send different inputs to different parts of the house. Awesome.

Pros: Multi digital inputs to amplified outputs. Great sound Easy setup Network controllable On screen menu is pretty easy to navigate.

Cons: Apple app kinda stinks but does work 3rd party apps are about as terrible

I just set it up so it's too soon to make any kind of judgement of the 7007's performance. I selected "3" as a rating simply because the site won't be complete without giving a rating.

Well built and very easy to setup. For a receiver it is nice looking and not very bulky. It is easy to operate. I used only for few days and I hope my rating will improve with more use.

Pros: Sounds great, easy to setup and use.

    Cons: None

    smart and powerful receiver

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This is my first real stereo. I've had hand-me-downs of decent quality, Sherwood, Kenwood, and Onkyo. But I have the old Polk RTI 12s, which sometimes have a realistic harshness to them. I'm bi-amping them now with the Marantz SR-7007 for 250 watts per speaker. What impressed me most about the Marantz was the vivid and powerful sound, for any genre, rock, Cuban jazz, classical, and movie soundtracks. It reveals the recordings in the background and layered instruments and vocals without exposing them -- it really aids them for greater accuracy. The Yamaha natural sound CD player, when switched between standard and natural inputs (digital and analog) makes a difference only in detail, not warmth, so I stay with the digital input because the Marantz keeps it natural on its own. But the best feature is the way the Audyssey MultEQ XT and Dynamic EQ adapts to the RTI 12s and warms every speaker to its best potential. This did not happen without a firmware update, but it is very worth a short-lived technical difficulty. Such a great deal now at basically half the price.

Pros: so many, adaptability to every genre and taste in speakers and usage. great looks too. HD radio is a fantastic surprise for this guy who lives in the mountains.

Cons: technical hiccups possible with firmware. zone 2 and 3 require the assignable channels so I wish this was an external switch and not a long menu process to adapt into and out of again.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Over all if you like movies and a full cinema quality sound in you home this is a great unit. It was fairly easy to set up and had plenty of power and the Audyssey Laboratories' MultEQ® auto setup and room calibration system made set up even easier.

Pros: Plenty of power and the 4k video up scaling gives you the ability to view video content on a 4k ultra high definition format even if your cable or satellite carrier does not broadcast in 4k, this unit will upscale you video signals to give you a top notch 4k picture quality.

Cons: For me personally most of my listening is music, I'm not big on movies and all the listening fomats that are associated with home theatre listening. Although the Marantz SR7007 has plenty of clean power and excellent cinema listening settings for me personally I am used to the Yamaha YAPO room optimization system and for my music listening experience I prefer the Yamaha YAPO system over the Audyssey Laboratories' MultEQ® system. If you enjoy cinema quality listening the Marantz SR7007 is great.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I had a Onkyo network receiver that quit at two years of use. I was interested in a more reliable receiver. After some research, I settled on the SR7007. I am very pleased after three months of use. For video, I use it for movies, TV and DVDs. As a bonus , it excels in playing satellite radio and my phonograph player. This is a rock solid unit that is easily worth the price. The wired network connection was no problem since I have already run the cord to this location.

Pros: Clean appearance with the round window that is blue back-lit. It has multi-functions like a Swiss army knife. Very dependable, ready to play in any format.

    Cons: None.

    Major Flaw For Music Listeners

Written By Adam K, Texas on Monday, August 10, 2015

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This rating is based on 1 major flaw. I previously purchased a Denon 3100 to power my new setup (Jamo IC610 - 4, Jamo C9 Center, and Jamo C80 SUB) only to have the HDMI board die on me after one day. Needless to say I was frustrated. All of the installers I've talked to over the years rant and rave about Marantz. After seeing the huge discount on their flagship 7.2 system I decided to spend $125 for overnight shipping. After struggling with it for hours I've now learned that it is incapable of playing 5.1 stereo when using music (airplay). I can only assume this is true for all music. The receiver plays full volume through the front surrounds and only a fractional volume for the rear. Or if I put it into another of the stereo modes it will play it equally through the 4 surrounds but will not utilize the subwoofer.

Fortunately the Cruthfield techs have been extremely responsive so I'm hoping we can find a solution, otherwise I have to hassle with finding another receiver plus being out $125 for the shipping >:(

Cons: Despite advertising airplay, this receiver is not music friendly.

I have owned a Marantz SR8001 since 2007, when it died I wanted another Marantz. It was a bonus that this was 50% off at $800.00! The sound quality is what you expect from Marantz! A lot of features with internet and network audio. Easy to set-up and configure all the inputs.

Pros: Great sound quality, easy to set-up, great price!

Cons: Does not have THX certification like the last Marantz I owned. No HDMI 2.0 for future 4K video.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I took a chance and ordered one from the outlet as a "Scratch and Dent." I was not able to find a single blemish anywhere! It appears that is is brand new! I upgraded from an SR7300OSE because I needed HDMI switching capabilities. So far I am thrilled with the performance of this unit. Multi Zone capability was another must have for me. This unit has zone 2 and zone 3, but can't utilize a digital input for the other zones. If the main zone source is digital, all other zone sources must be analog. It is for this reason, I only give 4 stars instead of 5.

    Pros: Great unit, great sound

Cons: Can only use 1 digital source when using multiple zones.

Very Nice sound. Menu is better than the ONKYO 805 I had.

Pros: Nice sound. Pretty organized menu

Cons: 'This receiver is not HDCP 2.2-compliant and will not support copy-protected 4K video content.' Not sure whether anything is at this point but this caught my attention.

Purchase was smooth as silk through Crutchfield. This Marantz lives up to it's long standing reputation very open and clean sounding on all inputs..very easy too set up and even tweak some settings. did a firmware update which also was smooth. run a Bi-amp 5.1 system and it's as if I have new speakers just by changing too this Marantz. controlling it from my ipad with the Marantz app is also a lot of fun....use too sell all this gear in the late 60-70 tube thru early solid state and it has come a lone lone way. enjoying my 600 plus vinyl LP's all over again. Thank's again

Pros: Quality, awesome sound. current price reduction, free shipping. all of it's features.

I'm using it as an audio only receiver, so I can't comment on the video portion. The audio is clear and the network hookup is straight forward. The HD radio is very useful- it makes local radio stations clear without static.

My exposure too HiFi Stereo began in 1962. The top tier American Brands were McIntosh, Marantz, & Harman Kardon. This receiver replaces a 4 yr old Yamaha Rx-V471 Receiver. The Marantz is running in 4.1 Polk TSi300 in front, Polk R40 rear, Polk PSW111 Subwoofer. During the 24hr burn in it ran warm. It requires proper ventilation. Read the Manual for proper 5.1 set up ! The Polks benefit from better amplification ! The sound is full, spacious, detailed, has depth. Reproduces what is there. At first highs were overly bright now they are fine. Frank Sinatra's voice on Sinatra's Sinatra is smokey, has range, including the NY accent ! Eliane Ellas's Made In Brazil sounds great ! Heard instrumentals in Fourplay's Yes, Please! that I did not hear before ! If you really enjoy music make the investment !

Pros: All the above in the review !

Cons: Remote could do with better backlighting, and bigger keys !

Replaced an Onkyo receiver that stopped working after 2 years. I've only had this for week so I hope it lasts longer. The apple airplay is very easy to use. I have it set up for 5.1 with Klipsch reference speakers. It provides plenty of power and sounds about the same as the Onkyo.

Pros: Great remote that comes with the receiver. Apple airplay is very easy to use. Looks nice.

Cons: no built in wireless internet connection. must be attached to network with ethernet cable

Pleased with the SR7007's sound and build quality. Liked the ability to turn off the display. Set up was easy and so was the speaker calibration.

Pros: Well built. Heavy. Excellent sonic ability. Removable power cord. HD FM and AM Pleasing, clean, appearance.

Cons: The speaker output terminals could have been spaced a bit better for larger diameter cable. A paper users manual would have been a plus.

Easy to use, does the job

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

It's big and doesn't fit on my AV stand, but it was easy to set up. The manual on the disc was not very well thought out. There are several PDFs all over the disc. My main computer doesn't even have a disc drive now. Configuring all my devices went well except for the Wii which stupidly has outputs that date back to Jimmy Carter. The amp caught me flipping polarity on one speaker. That was cool. As careful as you are it's still possible to screw up! The dial that alternates between sources is a bad idea. A knob like that is good for adjust oven temperature where you are making large jumps. Having a dial to go from input 1 to 2 is an exercise of over/undershooting back and forth. Skip it and use the remote. The remote. Better than most but still too many buttons for either of my parents but fine for me and spouse. My Onkyo had remote buttons that, if pushed, made deep level system config changes. You could easy mess up with one push. When switching sources, it kinda freaks out on screen. There's an ugly distortion on screen and a slight delay as it adjusts. The volume 'number' seems high. This is an increase of 25w over my previous Onkyo and I feel like my volume settings need to be higher than before. Could be psychological though.

Pros: Usability, helpful GUI, easy navigation, iPhone, iPad friendly. Easy to set up. Looks and sounds great.

Cons: Ugly source switch visual glitch Can't play video from iPhone/iPad when connected over USB Source selector dial is not helpful.

The really good receiver I didn't keep

Written By Rob W, Florida on Sunday, February 08, 2015

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I ordered the SR7007 based on long research and stellar reviews from various sources. I've had my current Technics receiver appx. 15 years (outdated would be an understatement) and have enjoyed it for all its limited modern day capabilities. But what ultimately matters most to me is sound and intuitive, effective design on all levels. The Marantz performed everything basically as advertised. I found no inconsistencies with claimed capabilities and actual performance. But where the receiver fell short for me might be just a symptom of most modern day receiver design. In cramming all of these video and audio duties into one device (the very definition of a receiver I understand) seems to undermine the end performance for me. A simple example: I occasionally like to watch TV soundless while I listen to music from one of my many available audio sources. Can you do this with a modern day receiver that feeds video via HDMI without having to get clever with video/audio assignments that may or may not exist, or trying to wire your main television as Zone 2 or 3 just to be able to see one thing and hear another? Does it all really need to be this complicated? As to the performance of the sound of the Marantz, I enjoyed a mix of several sources: Blu-ray and DVD movies, CDs, DVD-Audio and SACD, as well as the oft overlooked HD Radio. All were very good, but did not better in any way a 15 year old piece of equipment that one might think would be in a lower performance bracket.

Pros: Everything worked as advertised, as much as I was able to test. Nice looking and very well designed. Audyssey set up mostly straight-forward. Loved the HD Radio and wished more receivers included this way more often. In my opinion, sound was very accurate, to the point where some might describe its performance as leaning toward analytical. Amp did not get as warm as I had expected from some reviews, and to those who like to bench press their receivers I found it plenty heavy for my taste.

Cons: Even though everything worked as it should, the myriad of features and means of accessing them worked to the detriment of the receiver rather than a benefit. It may be just an attribute to all modern day receivers, but trying to increase the list of capabilities of any device will pass the threshold of diminishing returns at some point, and the Marantz certainly tests this. Even after all the Audysseys, TrueHDs, Master Audios and 4Ks, I still ended up preferring my 15 yr. old obsolete receiver.

    Great Sound & Easy Setup

Written By Neil, Denver, CO on Thursday, January 29, 2015

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This unit is super easy to setup with on-screen guide. I was looking for the Surround Sound (mode) settings but there are none that I can find. It simply works with the media (movie, HD radio, TV) that is going into it. I also switched out my speakers so I can't exactly tell what the impact of just upgrading to this receiver is but everything sounds great. Only downside is that it does not have Wifi built in so you have to add an Apple Airport Express or some other additonal Wifi device to get Airplay to work.

Pros: Great looking, minimalistic, big clean power

Cons: No built in Wifi or Bluetooth

Most of all the sound is fabulous. Spacious sound stage, great tonal balance, very pleasing to the ear on all types of music and soundtracks. A great value at this price.

Pros: Plethora of features including AirPlay, ethernet access, internet and HD radio, front panel USB and HDMI inputs, backlit remote.

    Cons: None

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I am enjoying this receiver very much. It replaced and Adcom that went out after 2 yrs. I am a music fan mostly, but I enjoy the surround on movies. It sounds good in stereo mode and also direct. It has plenty of power for me, but I do not listen at extremely loud levels. I really like the dialog level feature, because I have difficulty hearing people talking onscreen. Nice looking unit and has a easily readable display. Remote poor. Buttons are to small and hard to read and screen is almost impossible to read. It could really use a better designed remote.

Pros: Good sound, quality build, easy to set up.

Cons: Remote is to small and hard to read.

I have always been a fan of Marantz. This has all the quality I would expect. I found that with my power hungry speakers it would run out of steam just before it hit that ( YEAH! ) level. I purchased an external amp to drive my fronts and the problem is solved. I listed at an above average level but for most the reciever has plenty of power. The sound quality is fantastic and could not be happier with my purchase. The great people at crutchfield are just awesome and the tech support is unmatched. They had the answers I needed immediately. Buy this product

Pros: Excellent sound, quality build, and easy to use

Cons: A little low on brute force but again I am a freak.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This is the best receiver I ever owned because it provides clean, powerful, surround sound. The Marantz SR7007 is user friendly, and the remote is easy to use. I was looking for a receiver that provides power to my 7.2 speakers. This replaces my Sony - 1015W 7.2-Ch. 4K Ultra HD and 3D Pass-Through A/V Home Theater Receiver - Black which was an entry level receiver that provided no power whatsoever. It would go into protection mode if it was turned up too loud and I would have to reset the receiver everytime. With the Marantz, there is no such a thing. The power is limitless compared to my Sony. You have to spend some money if you want to get results. The Marantz SR7007 is in the upper level category and I saved $700 when you purchase it from Crutchfield. Crutchfield is the only way to go when it comes to high end stereo equipment. I highly recommend Marantz brand in general. I got more than my moneys worth and it is a great investment when it comes to stereo equipment.

Pros: Excellent Power and User Friendly controls.

Loved this receiver! I upgraded from an old system and set up for stereo only because I love vinyl. This sounded amazing and I had it set up inside an hour despite challenges posed by my cabinet.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I am not an audiophile, so all the reviews saying you would be better of with the audessy xt32 setup don't apply to me. I thought this receiver was very easy to setup with plenty of connections and it sounds great. When somebody walks behind you, or a car drives by, or something explodes it sounds very realistic and I constantly catch myself looking behind me! I upgraded to this from a Denon, because the HDMI board went out and it was going to cost twice what I paid for the receiver to fix it. Also with the sale on this and the three year warranty I don't know how anyone could pass this deal up.

Pros: easy set-up, plenty of connections, very realistic surround sound

    Cons: the remote stinks

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Replaced my Marantz SR 4001. Crutchfield cable labeling tabs are worth the extra time to minimize confusing the cables once it is placed in the cabinet. Also worth placing banana plugs on the speaker wire to make the hook ups easy, nonfrustrating, and reliable. The Audyssey microphone and quick set up were an engineers stroke of genius! Takes the guess work out of configuring and optimizing the audio for your space. A built in audio optimizer. How about that! Extreme improvement of surround sound quality. Great universal remote. Ease of menu adjustments. Great integration with the more recent iPod versions with on screen and receiver feedback display. Installed as a bi-amp 5.1 configuration with my front Paradigm Reference Studio Monitor 40 speakers. Sounds great! Was using direct Paradigm Cinema series surrounds that I will now replace with Paradigm Monitor bipole surrounds to elevate the surround quality. Can't beat the discount price for Marantz quality with the 3 year warranty. My few questions that arose after installation were competently answered by Matt at Crutchfield service. Much appreciated!

Pros: Marantz at a significant discount with telephone support. Easy set up and audio optimization with understandable on screen menus. Significant improvement of audio over the older Marantz reciever. Availability of basic receiver video adjustments that were necessary for viewing on my previously calibrated Samsung 60"

Cons: The video was altered after installation however, with Matt's help from Crutchfield it was easily corrected using the Marantz receiver video adjustments.

Excellent receiver. Replaced 14 yr old Yamaha and still using Definitve Technologies 5.1 surround speakers. Surround sound is 100% better than before, I was truly amazed, still am. Easy setup.

Pros: Audio is wonderful, spatial imaging is transcendent. Almost bought another for the two channel music room, got a peachtree instead, thanks Crutchfield, no regrets.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I replaced a 4-year old Yamaha $600 receiver with this one. Very happy with the switch. I listen to both music (CD+ quality) and movies, using an Oppo BDP 93. I was never satisfied with the Yamaha on music. With the Marantz, I have the best of both worlds. On music I can use pure direct with only two channels or with Audyssey 2.1. On two channel, it sound sounds just like my separate amp/pre-amp setup. On surround sound, the dialog "sweet spot" is much larger and the surround sound stage is more continuous. The sound is much cleaner, both at low and high volumes. When I cranked up the volume to see what the receiver could do, I thought the sound was a little weak, until I I checked the levels with my SPL meter. The amp was putting out 110 db with so little distortion that it fooled me. My speakers are built from kits using Scanspeak and Focal components (approx $5-600 per speaker in parts, 89db sensitivity), and with the right amp have a wonderfully wide and accurate soundstage. The Marantz is a good match for the speakers. Even my wife and kids noticed the difference between the Yamaha and the Marantz.

Pros: Musicality, the Audyssey equalization, dialog lift, ability to connect the Oppo with HDMI, coax digital and multi-channel analog

Cons: None that I am aware of.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The over all design of the unit is very attractive. I like the door that hides the large display. Set up was easy following the guide. I did however print off sections of the manual as that made it easier to make connections. Once set up and the Audessey used the sound was as expected great. It replaced a lesser piece of equipment, that replaced a high end piece so I was looking for the change. My set up, a 7 speaker surround sounded fantastic. For music, a Denon CD player, stereo imaging was spot on and the over all sound stage was fantastic. I wanted to keep listening to music - the test of if it sounds right. I have some older equipment that I use as well which includes a Techniques tape deck that sounded great and a Yamaha laser disc player, yes a laser disc player, that sounded great and looked great.

Pros: Looks and sounds great. Set up is straight forward.

Cons: No printed manual or a quick guide that includes a print out of the back connections.

    So great I bought another

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I am very pleased with this receiver. The sound is amazing. It is not as powerful as I expected however. I crank it way up and there is not as much raw power as I would have expected. On the other hand it is adequate for the room it is in and it is loud enough.

It is easy to set up but the GUI is a bit plain and old looking (small matter really). I like the Audessy features.

My SACD and DVD Audio disks sound amazing. Blu-ray disks and DVDs look incredible. It does what it is supposed to do and it does it well.

The remote is easy to use but I wish they would provide a printed owner's manual instead of the CD. The manual is not very well written. I am not a technical writer but this manual could be significantly improved.

The bottom line is that it is not perfect but it is a fine addition to my home theater. The sound quality seems improved over my old Denon and a Sony ES receiver that I have another room.

This Marantz AVR 7007 replaced a Denon 3808.

Pros: Excellent sound. Easy set-up Remote is easy to use Audessy

Cons: Manual is not well-written Seems underpowered for the rating Old GUI

I was advised by Crutchfield that the Marantz SR7007 would provide sufficient power for the Polk RIiA7 speakers I purchased. I used biamp wiring and still must turn the Marantz to full volume to get sufficient base out put. I'm a little disappointed considering I spent so much money for this rig.

Actually my second Marantz. The first one I had order from Crutchfield (SR5009) turned out to have problems and I return and choose this as a replacement. Wonderful sound, made my Polk speakers come alive. Easy set up. Front is uncluttered with an attractive front with a blue light around the small display. The larger display is behind the display door...easy to read and out of the way when you don't need it. This had everything that I wanted in a AVR except wifi, but, with the help of Crutchfield, I resolved that issue with Channel Master (ethernet to TV connection). Had this for only 2 days, but, so far so good and I'm happy with it. My equipment: Sony 4k TV, Marantz SR7007, Polk front, center, back & subwoofer, Roku, OPPO103D DVD, TVIO, Panasonic DVD.

Pros: Easy set up Very attractive and uncluttered Cool blue light around display Many HDMI to support all the extra equipment IPOD hook up worked with no problems Apple Airplay Internet ready Easy lite remote (small buttons) Great sound...makes my movies and music CD come alive. No issue so far like the other new Marantz which froze up several times and had to reset front he beginning. 4K up conversion and support 3D movies Hook up a turntable, have a tons of albums. Crutchfield tech help

Cons: Small buttons on the remote and some are hard to read. Not a big issue.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I was in love with this receiver before I ever owned it or heard it (just from specs, other reviews, and the price alone meant it had to be good right!?). My first surround sound was a budget pioneer, then the kenwood sovereign 5090 (my first big dollar AVR), then the Harmon kardon 347 (my first hdmi), and now the marantz SR7007. I am running klipsch speakers in 5.2. RF82 ii fronts, RC62 ii center, RS62 ii surrounds, with a R12SW and monster thx 10. When I saw this receiver on sale, I had to get it (not to mention my HK was getting tired). I thought I would be blown away with the power and sound quality... But I wasn't. I spent 3 days playing with all the features and adjustments, and watching countless movies. I must say it does sound really good and I think it goes really well with my speakers but I was hoping for so much more. The good part is I can now run a 7.2 surround with just one receiver. I just need to buy 2 more speakers! Overall very happy with Crutchfield (as always) and the huge discount they offered. The SR7007 is worth the price tag by all means, I gave it 4 stars because it does sound good, although I would have only given it 3 stars if I paid more.

Pros: Good sound Easy to set up (walk through) Looks nice Lots of connection options Simple remote that is backlit

Cons: CD for owners manual Not sure about the claimed 125 watts No cooling fan(s) Options will not allow you to have full control (choose "this" option and you can no longer adjust "that") The app is terrible I just hope they have more software upgrades coming!!

This is the 4th receiver i have bought in the last two years, as i have not been satisified with any of the previous three. I had two Denon's and an NAD. I wanted a warm, rich, full sound that made me want to put music on and sit back and just listen. The other three fell short, even though the reviews on them we all good. This Marantz has the sound that i have been looking for. Clear, warm, so very easy to listen to with all kinds of music and movies. It powers a 5.1 Definitive Technology speaker system. If this one dies one day, i want another one just like it.

Pros: The sound, looks so very premium, love the little blue circle, great light-up remote, extremely easy to set up and configure.

Cons: Does not bring me coffee in bed.....otherwise, none.

I have mixed feeling about this receiver,125 watts RMS no way, Sounds about like 75 watts RMS my old Sony str da4300es blows this receiver away in power and clarity. The Sony has about 50% more output then this one and thats rated a 100 watt RMS. As far as video quality pass through that's good.

Cons: Output power, Music clarity is not up to par.

Pros: Control from iPhone or iPad through network in Marantz apps. Airplay for music is good. Connect to internet for Internet radio is awesome. Can add Apple TV.

Cons: No cons but wish it came with Apple TV integrated for airplay of videos.

It's been a while since I upgraded my audio system. I wanted to buy an American name that I grew up with. When I found the Marantz on sale I knew it couldn't get any better. I read a few reviews, all giving high ratings for this receiver. So I just ordered it. I hooked a couple of Bowers and Wilkins in ceiling speakers to it. It's playing as I'm writing this review. It's a very good system. For the money and quality of I said , "it doesn't get any better". Now I want to expand off of it.

Pros: Great sound. Easy to install. A lot of options. Requires some reading. If I can do it then it can't be hard to figure out.

Cons: Right now, there's nothing negative to say.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I purchased this AVR Receiver to replace a Denon 3808 that puked out on me after 5 years. I don't mind spending good money for a product if the product can stand the time and Denon couldn't do that. Anyway this is about Marantz right now and even though the company's are owned by one or the other my research told me that Marantz uses it's own parts and still builds a fantastic receiver. Marantz puts the parts inside that will hold up to the heat and constant use that I was looking for. I've only had the receiver for a month and I must say it's doing great. Unlike the Denon that had a very complicated remote with it's touch screen if you or someone hit the wrong button was a pain to reprogram. Marantz is very simple and straight foreword to setup. I needed a (2) zone receiver to run the additional speakers in the other rooms in the house and (4) outside speakers which it handles very easy. it's only been a month but I'm very pleased so far!

Pros: Easy to setup, great looks, plenty of HDMI ports, (2) powered subs jacks. Plenty of speaker jacks .

Cons: Not Bluetooth ready, Really Marantz this is 2014 everything is Bluetooth ready now days and to have to spend 100.00 to buy a adapter is just crazy. Again this receiver is still new so my only con so far is not having Bluetooth built in!

    Marantz SR7007 A difference maker

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I'll start offf by saying I'm not an audiophile. My old system was an Onkyo receiver and 5.1 speaker that I had bought in 2002. The system sounded good until the sub woofer finally died about 2 months ago. I decided to get something new as the old Onkyo did not have the HDMI inputs for connecting the cable in to the receiver then out to the TV. After looking around at a few website reviews for receivers, the Marantz kept coming up as good pick. I ordered it from Crutchfield with the help of advisor Jenny. Receiver and the Definitive Technology speaker system (also Crutchfield) arrived in a few days. Setting it up was easy, followed the printed directions that came in the box to get it hooked up to the TV then followed the on screen step by step instructions to get all speakers and components hooked up. Used the Audyssey system to let the receiver set and balance all the speakers to my room also on the TV after plugging the mic in the front of the receiver. Then it happened - I turned it on. What a huge differrence! The sound coming out of the speakers was so clear and clean. I heard sounds and instraments in a completely new way. The sound of the tamborine, the crash of the cymbal, the "thump" of the pedal hitting the bass drum were all so clear yet all very distinct. Simply incredible. Speakers Front Def Technology StudioMonitor 55, Center ProCenter2000, back ProMonitor 800, sub Prosub1000. Monster quicklock selfcrimp banana connectors made hooking up speaker wires a breeze

Pros: Hooking up speakers and other components very easy with on board setup that shows up on the TV screen after following 3 simple steps from written directions. Internet radio Can listen to iTunes library stored on my PC Can now hook my Plasma TV and 3d BluRay player to the receiver rather than having to hook my receiver to the TV!

Cons: The print on the buttons of the remote are a little small for my eyes, but I'm nit picking a bit! Not much reception from the FM antena that came with the unit. Had better reception from the standard Onkyo FM wire (same location in the house, same address!)

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I purchased the Marantz SR7007 after a significant price break, and received it quickly, in new condition from Crutchfield. As you can see from the photos, Marantz makes a very 'pretty' receiver. The on-screen menus are great, as well. HDMI switching seemed solid(no flickering, etc). I truly feel that's where the good stuff ends. Using multiple sources in multiple zones did not perform well. For example, even after consulting Crutchfield and Marantz, we were unable to send HDMI audio to Zone 2. Also, while using the Marantz iOS app, when selecting a source for Zone 2, it would also change the source for the Main Zone. The power to the speakers was less than impressive compared to my old Yamaha RXV1700. Needless to say, I returned it and had Crutchfield send me the Yamaha A3020(addressing everything above, and does it very well, but less 'pretty'). Crutchfield was FANTASTIC through everything.

Pros: Pretty blue bezel Nice on-screen menu Solid HDMI switching

Cons: Lacks HDMI audio output to other zones Lacks power to speakers compared to similar priced models Mobile iOS app had some issues communicating the proper commands (not a WiFi issue)

After having reliability issues with Onkyo, I made the switch to Marantz products several years ago. I upgraded from the Marantz SR6006 to the Marantz SR7007. They have the same tonal qualities but the SR7007 has more headroom as it should given the bigger amp. I do like the available controls and display screen on the front of SR7007. The SR6006 display is hard to read at a distance and should you lose your remote, you can't control much. Another upgrade I liked was the upgraded GUI over the SR6006. The GUI on the SR7007 is a lot more intuitive and user friendly.
