Satellite Speakers
Two-Way Design: A two-way speaker, the MX has a maximum
power handling of 100 watts, allowing it to work well with a wide variety of
amplifiers. Inside each durable polycarbonate enclosure, you'll find a .625-inch
pure titanium hybrid tweeter for warm, rich high frequencies and a 2.5-inch
aluminum woofer for substantial, low distortion bass performance.
Drivers: The Mirage MX satellite speakers house a 2-1/2"
highly efficient aluminum polypropylene cone woofer with butyl rubber surround
and a 5/8" pure titanium hybrid (PTH) dome tweeter mounted on the Omniguide.
Note: Because the drivers are so small, Mirage suggests setting
the bass management crossover of your A/V Receiver or processor to120Hz (or
as close to 120Hz as possible).
Omniguide: The patented Omniguide module utilizes two
deflectors, one each for the tweeter and midrange. The module disperses sound
the way the ear and brain are accustomed to receiving it; thirty percent is
direct sound, the other seventy percent is reflected off walls, ceilings, floors
and other surfaces for a completely immersive, 360º experience.
Omnipolar Technology: By utilizing the natural room
reflections this speaker design radiates sound in a 360° pattern, expanding the
sweet spot to encompass virtually the entire room.
Palm Size Enclosure: The satellite speakers feature a
palm-size, acoustic suspension enclosure made from an ultra rigid polycarbonate
with a high-gloss black finish.
Magnetic Grille: The MX satellite speakers feature a
removable magnetic black cloth grille.
Speaker Terminals: The satellites feature high-quality
spring post speaker terminals for a secure and convenient connection. The spring
post terminals are ideally suited for bare wire connection up to 14 gauge. You
will need to remove the rubber plug on the bottom of the speaker to access the
speaker terminals.
Powered Subwoofer
Dynamic Power: The MM-6's digital amplifier is rated at 800
watts dynamic power. While an RMS power rating indicates power available on a
continuous, long-term basis, subwoofers rely on large, short-term peaks of power
to support the wide dynamics required by today's digital music formats and
movie soundtracks; therefore the dynamic power rating can be used as an
indication of a subwoofer's real-world performance.
Passive Radiator Design: The MM-6 has a front firing 6-1/2"
anodized aluminum driver and two side firing 6-1/2" anodized aluminum passive
radiators. The passive radiator design, combined with the inverted ribbed
elliptical surrounds on both the driver and passive radiators, supports lower
and louder bass output than is typical from 6-1/2" subwoofer in this size
enclosure.
Digital Control: To protect the driver from being
overdriven, a proprietary circuit monitors the output signal and adjusts only
the portion of the signal that might damage the sub. This allows the subwoofer
continue playing and deliver clear bass at all volume levels.
Power Mode: The power mode switch is set to On or Auto; the
automatic circuit turns the amplifier on when an audio signal is detected and
off after several minutes with no input signal. There is also a master power
switch on the back panel.
Volume: Use the rotary volume knob to adjust the subwoofer
volume relative to the rest of the system.
Phase: The phase is continually adjustable from 0 to 360
degrees.
Crossover: The crossover is continuously adjustable from 50
Hz to 200 Hz. The crossover can also be bypassed, useful for an LFE signal
that's already crossed over.
Note: Because the satellite speakers used in this system are so
small, Mirage suggests setting the subwoofer's crossover above 120Hz.
Preamp Level Input: The left and right line-level jacks are
used to connect the subwoofer to a pre-amp, signal processor, line-level
crossover, or receiver with pre-amp level outputs. Use the left input when
connecting to a single LFE output.
WA Port: The WA port on the back panel is labeled for future
use.
Mounting Options
Video Shielded: The satellite speakers are magnetically
shielded for safe placement near your TV or computer monitor without causing
picture interference.
Mounting: The Mirage MX speakers come with an integrated
key-hole slot on the rear of the speaker for wall-mounting the speaker. If you
mount the satellite speakers more than six feet off the floor, Mirage recommends
turning them upside down. The Mirage satellite speakers also feature 3
integrated rubber feet for placing the speaker securely on a shelf or stand. If
you place the satellite speakers on a table or shelf, put them as close to the
front edge as possible.
Optional Stands: The MX speakers can be mounted on the
optional Sanus HTB-7stands (item number 051HTB7) and similar universal speaker
stands.
