Great Sound, and a Crutchfield rescue
Written By Rich, Union City, NJ on Saturday, February 14, 2009

The Mirage Nanosat speakers sneak up on you. I recently upgraded from an aging but solid Advent system to the 5.1 Nanosat system with the S8 subwoofer, adding a Nanosat CC for the center channel. That left me with an extra Nanosat satellite, which I put aside as a spare.
At first I wasn't blown away - the sound was different from what I was used to. But I quickly realized that the sound had opened up, regardless of the audio source. Both my wife and I noticed nuances in recordings we had owned and listened to for decades, even vinyl. The room was more evenly filled with music, and, counterintuitively, while the speakers themselves were harder to locate stereo imaging was more precise. I can, and do, listen for hours.
But this review isn't just about the speakers. After 3 months, I decided to buy one more Nanosat satellite to pair with the fifth speaker from the original set, to use in a second room for now and eventually in a 7.1 set up. At this point, I discovered Mirage had discontinued my model. Crutchfield to the rescue! They found a "dent and scratch" speaker (a nick the size of a pin prick) and had it to me 48 hours later. Rachel Maddow and Pat Metheny now fill my kitchen - thank you Crutchfield, and Mirage!

Sounds Expensive...Isn't
Written By David, Los Angeles, CA on Tuesday, July 22, 2008

Even though I am using a 100 watt cheap Sony amp (DG520) for a basic
2.1 application, I've got something really special. I've paired my NANOSATS
with Mirage's S-8 powered subwoofer. All I can say is that this is
absolutely an affordable way to make a small room seem like it's an IMAX.
well, not really, but at least like a much more expensive system. The small
satellites (slightly smaller than non-Lifestyle Bose satellites) put out a ton
of sound and deliver beautiful highs and mids. The lows are booming from
the compact powered S-8. I watched King Kong last night and was thrilled
with the output. Times are tough. Money is tight. If you need to drown
out the outside world, this is a great and affordable way to do it. Thank
you Crutchfield!

Great back surround speakers
Written By Kevin, Denver, CO on Wednesday, July 09, 2008

I am really impressed with these speakers. The sounds are crisp and clear, especially voices and instruments. I am using them on the stands for my rear surround speakers in a 7.1 set-up. My side speakers are the bose 161 and these are much better overall sounding than those speakers, I will probably replace those with the Nanostats eventually.

The nanostats are extremely sturdy in build. The are also sharp looking almost futuristic. I think they sound better than Bose cube speakers as well. Get these speakers, you won't be disappointed.

P.s. the nanostat speaker stands (ms stb 1) need to be modified to fit speakers properly, see my review on those on how to modify them.

Great Surround Speakers
Written By Jong, NYC on Friday, June 01, 2007

When I decided to move from a 5.1 to 7.1 system, I faced a decision whether to buy an additional 2 surround speakers to match my existing system or get something else. As I was browsing Crutchfield's speaker selection I was struck by the nanosat small size and omni-directional sound. After some research on the internet, I found some articles on how bipolar speakers were better for surround speakers. The nanosats are omni-polar but the basic premise holds. I had not been very happy with the limited "sweet spot" with my old surround speakers so I decided to try these. Not only do they work beautifully, they are very small so this works great in the limited space of my NYC apartment. Now that I own 4 of these for my surround speakers I'm thinking of replacing my front and center speakers with Mirage speakers as well.

Great surrounds at a great price
Written By Mark, Summer Lake, OR on Thursday, January 11, 2007

Mirage lives up to their reputation. The difference in surround sound from my previous surrounds is amazing!
The bullets and helicopters truly do whiz by your head with these units. You are enveloped in a movie.
DVD audio opens up like you cannot believe. The individual instruments are so discernible and crystal clear. High notes and mids really improved and are very sharp and precise.
A breeze to hang on the wall with the included brackets, or just set em on a shelf or stand. You cannot beat this sound, especially at this price!
