Do you have a noise problem?
Do you have a noise problem?
You've finally got your vehicle's sound system dialed in so you're getting the sound you want…when the car is stationary. But when you're moving, road noise can force you to turn up the stereo to ear-blasting levels to compete. And when you turn your speakers up, the standing waves (or back waves) that build up behind the cones can introduce distortion. What can you do to combat this problem?
Hushmat has the solution
Wave Breaker pads are made from a self-adhesive sound-deadening material that helps to break up back waves that can cloud your sound. This kit includes two pre-cut 8" x 8" pads which attach behind the magnet of your speakers or subs. Warranty: 60 days.

Product Research
Features
HushMat Wave Breaker: Wave breaker is pressure-sensitive, semi-closed large cellular, synthetic rubber foam, which has excellent adhesion properties. The Wave Breaker structure is designed to efficiently disrupt sound waves into a random surface thus allowing the full sound quality of the speaker to perform without distortion. Wave Breaker is also a very light weight substrate and will bond directly to the HushMat Ultra on door speaker applications or the back of sub woofer enclosures.
- Wave Breaker effectively disrupts back wave from speakers in a wide frequency spectrum from 10 to 15000 Hz.
- Reduces road noise & vibration; low frequency noise from 0 to 1,000 Hz.
- Reduces thermal transfer by over 40%.
- Insulates from -30° up to 550° degrees Fahrenheit.
How Wave Breaker Works: When the speaker cone moves in and out waves are created in two directions. The wave that moves out the front is called music. The wave that moves out the back of the speaker is called distortion. This back wave reflects off the solid surface behind the speaker and bounces back to the front essentially throwing the speaker out of phase. When HushMat is placed behind the speaker these back waves are absorbed and broken up in the wave breaker molecular structure. This prevents the bounce back and therefore prevents the distortion. Therefore you get all the music out of that speaker
Temperature & Environment Resistant: HushMat Wave Breaker is temperature & environment resistant and will maintain adhesion through all automotive environments from -30° to 300° F). Humidity, UV and other conditions consistent with automotive use will not disrupt Wave Breaker performance.
Simple To Install: The HushMat Wave Breaker cuts with scissors and features a self-adhesive backing for peel-and-stick installation. The superior adhesive properties of Wave Breaker allow it to be used in horizontal, vertical or inverted applications. It has good conformability and can be applied on complex shapes. It bonds to fiberglass, plastic, and all metal surfaces. Use one Wave Breaker per coaxial speaker, or two Wave Breakers per sub woofer.

Used the hushmat in a 90 VW Vanagon door which is pretty much a flat sheet of steel. Had a lot of vibration- distortion before but the hushmat toned it down and now the music can be heard clearly at higher volumes. Adhesive backing was easy to apply and overall am pleased with the outcome.
