Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I have this mounted in the attic with no amplifier and picks up 44 digital channels, 20 of them in HD. Being in the attic the only downside is that it has to be aimed just right to get the weaker or more distant signals. Most stations are between 15 and 30 miles away.

Pros: Easy to assemble, looks good

Cons: Awkward shape for attic mount in small space

Misleading product info

Written By Chad, Sioux City Iowa on Wednesday, December 18, 2013

In the overview of this antenna it is stated and I quote"The 3010 is classified as a Medium-sized Directional antenna" Well When I got this antenna right on the side of the box, it shows this to be untrue. The box says it's only a small multi directional antenna and a medium multi directional Antenna. I needed a medium directional antenna for the channels around here. So it was a complete waste of money and I feel I was lied to by the product overview.

Pros: Fast shipping

Cons: The 3010 is classified as a Medium-sized Directional antenna This is a lie

Crutchfield response on Monday, January 06, 2014 Thanks for your review. We have updated our product presentation to reflect that the 3010 has two classifications: Medium-sized Directional for VHF signals and Small Directional for UHF.

Great locals reception even indoors

Written By BenG, Louisville, KY on Thursday, December 12, 2013

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I purchased this item in an attempt to stop paying for our local cable stations. I performed a few tests with it connected directly to the TV, as well as a few tests with it in the attic connected to the main house cable line. Both locations picked up most of our locals equally well. We are about 20 miles away from the stations' broadcast towers, and there are old-growth trees between the antenna and the broadcasts.

Pros: It captures great signal for the price. I was able to put it together in under 5 minutes using only a phillips screwdriver. The antenna is flat enough that it can be stowed behind or underneath furniture to hide it from view if used indoors.

Cons: It must be pointed in the general direction of the broadcast towers in order to assure excellent signal. A couple lower power stations didn't come in as well for us when the antenna was pointed in the opposite direction. This can be remedied by rotating the antenna, adding another directional antenna, or adding a signal amplifier.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The channel master 3010 is an excellent antenna. Besides its compact size and ease of assembly, it pulls channels in very nicely. While I only get three over the air channels in my area, they come in crystal-clear in HD format. It's really no bigger than your typical satellite dish. It's also lightweight and looks good on the side of any house or deck. I use one to get some channels for my garage and one to bring some extra channels in the house to try to keep those cable bills small. You can't go wrong for the price, considering the performance you get! Plus, buying from Crutchfield is a no-brainer- they're always fantastic to deal with!

Pros: Price, performance, ease of assembly, appearance.

Cons: None that I can see!

The antenna was easy to assemble, came with all the needed parts and was attached to the side of the house within 15 minutes. We get 7 channels which are all crystal clear. I think if we had a rotor we would pick up a lot more. As always, the shipping and customer service was great.

Pros: easy to assemble, great reception

Cons: none

Great Value

Written By JoeS, New Carlisle, Oh on Monday, June 17, 2013

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This antenna is truly a great value. It pulls in the same stations as my neighbor's antenna, and they paid more than twice as much. Before purchasing, I went to the antenna website to see what stations were available in my area. It listed 17 channels within 45 miles of my house. This antenna receives 13 of the channels clear as a bell - all are in the 20 - 25 mile range. I get reception on two other channels, but they're moderately snowy. I could probably get them clearer if I adjusted the direction of the antenna. The remaining stations are too far for reception by this antenna. All in all, it's perfect for those channels within about 25 miles and the picture quality is better than what I had with Time-Warner cable. I get HD as well as standard stations. I live in a rural area, somewhat on a hill, and the antenna is mounted on an old dish mounting bracket on the eave of the house (about 20ft above ground level).

I received it within 3 days of placing the online order. It does require some assembly (three pieces plus a mounting bracket), but is very easy to put together. It's smaller than I anticipated and no more obtrusive than the small dish antennas. One person can easily handle it while on the roof.

Pros: Ease of installation; pulls in the stations; Small size

Cons: None

Good Product

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Installed this in my attic and have had no problems. I have this running through a channel master 3414 signal amplifier. I simply removed all the cables that were running through the attic for the previous owner's direct tv system and have them all hooked up to the antenna. It has worked with no problems. I pick up many more channels than my previous indoor RCA antenna was pulling.

Pros: Free HDTV. No cable/satellite bill.

Cons: As in other reviews, certainly be careful when installing the cable to the housing beneath the body of the antenna. I can see, as in other reviews, how if you were a bit rough you might damage the unit or the circuit board.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This is a very stealthy antenna. It is hardly seen from a distance. The construction is sturdy and should be able to take strong winds.

Pros: Easy installation.

Cons: The antenna does not pull in many stations even though I live less than 15 miles from the transmitting towers with the antenna mounted about 30 feet up. I added the Model 3038 amplifier and now I have solid signals from 25 channels and I'm pleased with the results.

Excellent reception with the antenna inside the house

Written By Jim, New Orleans, LA on Sunday, May 26, 2013

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I use the Channel Master 3010 as an inside antenna. It sits on top of my refrigerator in a round, plastic pan. This allows me to rotate it as needed. Also, the cable attaches to the bottom of the antenna; since the antenna sits on top of a pan, the cable is not crimped, because the pan allows the cable to go down and then out of the pan. The fact that it is on top of the refrigerator means that I can see the TV screen as I am rotating it, allowing me to get the best antenna position for each channel. By rotating it as needed, I get crystal clear reception on lots of channels. As far as I know, I am getting all of the available channels in my city.

One day I will take the time to chart out which direction to point the antenna for each channel, so as to get the best reception. But for now, my reception is excellent with the Channel Master 3010 antenna.

Pros: Small, fits on top of my refrigerator, allowing me to use it inside the house, close to the TV, so that I can see the TV screen as I adjust the antenna and thereby get the perfect antenna position for each channel.

Cons: None

I also hooked it up to my radio and now I get stations that I never knew were there! Thanks Crutchfield for carrying this antenna!

Pros: Easy instalation. Brings in TV and radio stations from about 50 miles away.

I live in a valley with only 1 crappy local radio station. my wife likes the morning show from DC, 50 miles away (over the mtn from our house. I installed this antenna in about 15 minutes including assembly and we now get 30+ radio stations. the only issue I had was the clamp was too small for my DirecTV arm. I attached the antenna instead to ventpipe at the peak of my roofline.

Pros: Crutchfield is awesome as always, fast install, great FM reception

Channel Master 3010 Super Pleased

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Was using a set of amplified indoor rabbit ears and getting approximately 12 channels, 4 of which where breaking up on a regular basis. Installed the Channel Master 3010 not very high on the roofline and WOW what a difference! Now getting 18 Channels all super clear and the HD compared to my previous cable provider is fantastic. The whole order process from Crutchfield was a breeze and I chose this antenna after reading the reviews on Crutchfield's website. Pricing was great and shipping was fast. Will definitely start using Crutchfield for my electronic purchases.

Pros: Super easy to install and a great product, small and unobtrusive unlike most rooftop antennas.

Cons: None so far

Product does just as described. It was recommended for my location based off distance and strength of signals in my area. I just put it on the roof, pointed it at Cleveland, and it worked great.

Pros: Easy assembly, cheaper than paying for basic cable for one month.

Cons: Didn't realize it does not come with hard ware to mount to roof/side of house. Only comes with a bracket to attach to a pole of some kind. I used an existing satellite dish mounting system left by a previous tenant that worked great.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I spent a lot of time trying to find an antenna that would pick up all digital TV channels (upper VHF plus full UHF) and also pick up FM radio, while also being unobtrusive. This is the only one I found that met all the requirements. I'm about 20 miles line-of-site from the transmitter towers. This antenna pulls in strong signals on all of the local channels. It clamped to my existing satellite dish mount and works great.

Pros: Covers all digital TV and FM channels. Small enough to be unobtrusive.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I bought this because my terk powered antenna sometimes would pick up channels and sometimes wouldn't, I have a 1 bdr and I put this upstairs in my apartment and hung it from the ceiling and even though I bought a amp for it i didn't amp it yet and get every channel, even though it goes through about 15-20 feet of cable and it picks up every channel crystal clear with no problems. Channels that I always had problems with the amped terk antenna now come in perfect no more moving and moving and moving. I looked around and this is a really great deal for the price I have used a lot of different antennas and this is the best one yet for even a cheaper price. I would refer this antenna to anyone. The only thing is if you used this outside I would get a little tube of silicon to put on the assembled wings you screw on so no water gets inside of the body but that is about it. Out of 1-10 I would rate this antenna a perfect 20.

Pros: Great picture, light weight easy to assemble, slim design perfect for low spaces or little room

Cons: Can't find any yet

Received the antenna and at first was surprised by its overall dimensions and had
some concerns that it wouldn't fit in my rather small attic space. Fortunately it did
and we receive approximately 35 channels with incredible reception and a picture
that appears better than we had with cable. Installation was easy and aiming the
antenna was made simple utilizing the educational pieces provided by Crutchfield.
I very much recommend this antenna!

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I brought this for FM reception, was unable to pull in some station clear with
the small wire antenna that came with the receiver. I hooked up a set of
amplifying "rabbit ears" reception wasn't much better. The Channel Master
3010 was an easy install. I mounted it to my old satellite mount, (couldn't get
HD with satellite to many trees in my yard). Looks better there then the old dish
did. Not only can I pull in Philadelphia stations, but even with all the trees in my
yard I can pull in Delaware stations from 45-50 miles away including 94.7
WDSD (a PRN affiliate). I have trouble getting this station in the car. Now I can
listen to the NASCAR race and still get work do in my garage. I would highly
recommend this product.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

We bought this antenna to replace our (extremely) old one to receive over-the-air local
digital channels, as we have DirecTV satellite and do not get local stations in our area.
It was easy to assemble and easy (for us) to mount as we just used the old mounting
pole and hardware. It is mounted about 6 ft above the rooftop outside. It works very well,
but we were surprised to learn we had to install a second amplifier inside to boost the
signal to our secondary TV sets. I was not aware of the amplifier offered for sale with
this model (my fault for not researching it) but would definitely consider purchasing the
amplifier with this model antenna if you are located in a wooded or hilly area.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I ordered this because it looked like the one in a review that crutchfiled did on an overair
DVR I was researching. I had a dish non direction style antenna from about 10years ago
in attic and was having problems getting a good signal. So I moved it outside to only find
out it did not work there any better. This is on a LG LED 1080p TV with internet. Now you
know the background...

So I bought this product and it installed on my old satellite pole on roof in minutes and I
pointed it in the direction that was recoomended at the off-site website link you can find
here at crutchfield in the antenna section.

I have had not one distorted signal since I installed it. For the price I'm very happy. I've
owned it now for 3weeks. Now I have money left over for the DVR to grab all my national
TV channel shows this year and I get to get rid of uverse.

This antenna actually works as described!. I'm only about 15 miles from the towers, so I was able to mount this in the attic & still have great reception! It took less than 5 minutes to assemble and was very easy to mount! Great antenna if you get digital signals in both the VHF and UHF bands. All but one of my stations were in the UHF band (which would have allowed a different type of antenna, but the station in the VHF band carried the Packer games so I needed this "combined band" antenna!

The antenna works great. Installed in attic, and was able to receive 33 digital channels (This includes 2-1, 2-2, etc if you're familiar with the new channel break down).

My towers are ~20-25 miles away, so this antenna works beautifully.

BTW, I installed this in the attic, and it still works great.

P.S. Hey Crutchfield, why don't you show the CEA pie colors next to the antennas you sell. It would make it easier!

Great reception

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I live 30-40 miles from my local channel's towers, and only picked up one tv station, and one FM radio station. Purchased this antenna to mount in the attic to provide local programming, all of which is HD now, and better FM reception. Best money I've spent in a while; antenna has pulled in 30 HDTV signals, and more FM than I care to listen too, and all with good to great reception. I have split the signal to a TV and FM tuner. I live kind of high, up on a hill, so I'm sure that helps, because nothing obstructs the line of site, but this antenna blows the older Terk model I was using away. Some of the reviews noting cheap construction have validity to take into account if you plan to mount outside, but for an attic mount where size may be a concern it is perfect....I really didn't expect it to be built like a tank anyway. Buy a large, steel arial antenna if you plan on mounting outside and unprotected.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

At first this antenna didn't perform any better than the "rabbit ears" when I mounted it off our deck. However, by experimenting with location I am now very satisfied. The key was getting it as high as possible. We are pretty much line of sight to the "antenna farm" where all of the local stations transmit (10 miles), but there are a lot of mature trees around our property. I now have it mounted under the eave of the top story and it works great. We now receive all of the digital channels with at least 80% strength.

I did have to install an in-line amplifier when I split the signal for an additional TV set but that works fine too.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I'm less than 10 miles away from the transmitters, but my digital tuner had trouble grabbing some of the local stations--especially PBS. ( I was just using an FM dipole.)

I quickly hooked up the Channel Master 3010 with 100 feet of quad shielded rg6. My tuner received all the local stations while I was just pointing the antenna out the window at ground level.

Now the tuner's signal strength meter reads 75 - 90 for all local stations where previously it had been 65-75 and only 15-25 for PBS. I intend to mount this antenna in my garage.

Crutchfield delivered it 3 days after I placed my order. Thanks.

I'm located less than 25 miles from all of the signal broadcasts. I hung the antenna in my attic and it works great. I recently switched from cable to Direct TV and lost my local HD channels. This was a great low cost alternative to get them back. I have about 14 channels that are in HD. The superbowl broadcast looked great via over the air antenna. I do have a very old school amplifier that I found in the attic that I hooked it into and it seemed to work well with. The only negative is the assembly, the instructions weren't great. I also split it to use the FM capabilities for the home stereo without any signal loss to either. Great Product met and exceeded my expectations.

I used this antenna for my local HD channels where the towers are only 13 miles away. There is 1 house between me and the towers, when I first set this antenna up I only recieved 3 of 5 channels and the rest were in the 70% range. I had to set the mast back and now the antenna is angled at about a 45 degree angle but I recieve all my local HD channels at over 90% except the one notoriously weak channel that comes in at about 75%. This antenna would've recieved a 5th star but it has to be angled a little goofy at it feels very flimsy.

Overview: The Channel Master 3010 STEALTHtenna receives FM, UHF, and VHF frequencies, both digital and analog. It can be mounted on a roof, on a wall, or in an attic.

Saddle Bracket: The saddle bracket will accommodate a mast between 1-1/4 and 1-2/3 inches.

Turning Radius: If using a rotor on the antenna mast, make sure a 30" turning radius around the antenna is clear of obstruction.

Grounding: The antenna and mast should be properly grounded. Grounding provides lightning protection for the antenna and your TV set. No grounding hardware is provided with the antenna.

Connections: A female F-type connector is on the underside of the antenna body. The included waterproof rubber weather boot should be installed over the cable to guard against corrosion. Coax cable is not provided, RG-6 is recommended.
