Needed Modification

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The brackets worked great but the due to the size of my chimney the straps were to short. This seems like a common theme among reviews which makes me wonder how much it would have cost to make the straps 30% longer and then had people trim them to length. As it was, I picked up 2 16' 1/8" steel cables and hardware and the antenna is now mounted very securely. Another $10 spent and 1/2 hour to run out for parts that could have been avoided if the product had come packed with longer straps. Otherwise, worked great.

Pros: Easy, fast, secure

Cons: parts to small for application.

Chimney Mount

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Easy to install. Sturdier than I thought it would be. A roof, tower, or wall mount would be harder to install. This did not require high DIY skill.

Pros: Easy to install. It works!

Cons: Has sharp metal edges on the straps. Be careful.

Chimney Straps

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I have used chimney straps to mount antennas for decades and they work well if adjusted correctly. They have held up against hurricane force winds. This set of chimney mounts are similar to those from years ago.

Pros: Keeps the antenna mast off of the main building and places the antenna at a height that maximizes potential reception.

Cons: The metal straps can be difficult to work with. They have a mind of their own at times. Improperly using the slip clips could ruin your setup, so be sure of a snug fit before mounting your antenna.

seems to be sturdy but the antenna needs to be moved from chimney to side of house & go up higher due to large oak trees obstructing north east channels

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Installation was marred by not having instructions for strap clips. Parts seemed to be good.

Pros: Brackets are well made. Straps are galvanized

Cons: No instructions for installing strap clips (unless I lost them).

Antenna bracket

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

It is a wonderful product. It is also hard to find. Having this to attach my antenna to the chimney is so much better than a really long pipe alongside the house and there is less motion. I recommend this to anyone who has a stable chimney and watches TV for free.

Seems a bit flimsy

Written By Pmgrnvl, Greenville, SC on Sunday, January 27, 2013

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

It works as expected, but my installer was shocked by how thin the metal was and how flimsy this seemed. In fact, we debated using one that was 20+ years old and already on the chimney. Yes, this works as described. But it is a cheap made piece. Don't expect overly solid construction here.

Pros: It works.

Cons: Seems flimsy.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The mount works OK. Poor installation manual. I replaced an older unit, so the whole setup would be new. The mount I replaced was better made but after years of service had gotten a little crooked.
