If you have a projector or other display that lacks a built-in tuner, Channel Master's CM-7001 is a great affordable solution. To receive crystal-clear free over-the-air HD broadcasts from your local stations, simply connect the CM-7001 to an indoor or outdoor antenna. Watch your favorite network programs without paying any monthly subscription or service fees.
The compact CM-7001 has the right connections for your TV whether it's new or old. You'll find HDMI and component video to deliver high-definition pictures, plus S-video and composite connectors for older TVs. There's even an RF output for real old-school TVs. An on-screen wizard steps you through the initial setup quickly — you'll be ready to enjoy HD in no time.
It works as advertised. Delivery was fast after I ordered it. Thank you Crutchfield!

I bought this for my parents who wanted better sound from their new HDTV which had absolutely no audio outputs! (trust me, there weren't any, short of opening up the cabinet and tying into the speaker wires). My plan was to connect this tuner in between the antenna and the TV (via the hdmi input, bypassing the internal tuner) then run RCA cables from this tuner to their old school stereo system. The goal was better sound and they love it. Unfortunately, the picture quality with this setup was noticibly worse than when antenna was connected directly to TV so we ended up doing a rather clumsy but functional work around. The antenna signal is split then routed to both the TV and the CM-7001 (which is connected to a nice amp and speakers). One has to manually tune the sound (via the CM-7001) to the same channel as the TV. Had the picture quality been a bit better from the CM-7001, I could have avoided this. Since I ended up not using the video functionality, a cheaper box might have sufficed. I'm sure others with bare bones TVs also face this sound challenge but realize this use of the product was not quite what it's designers had in mind. It seems like a decent unit though and I can imagine some day connecting it to a projector, having the neighbors over and watching a football game outside on my garage door!
Pros: One of a kind unit with both HDMI and RCA connectors.
Cons: Picture quality acceptable but not great.

Great product. This HD tuner resolved all of my television reception problems. The HDMI output makes for a brilliantly clear, rich picture. There are less expensive tuners on the market (and I tried 2 of them prior to this one) but this is the best, and well worth the cost.
Pros: Very clear picture. HDMI output is a great feature.
Purchased this to watch the Superbowl outside connected to a projector, but then got rained out so I haven't used it on the projector yet. I was able to set it up inside very quickly and it received all of my local channels. I haven't figured out how to remove the channels that I don't want because it is somewhat slow in changing channels, but hopefully I will get that figured out. Picture quality was excellent through my HDMI cable.
Pros: Ease of set-up, picture quality
Cons: Can't figure out how to remove the channels I don't want.
I gave this product 3 stars because it does work, and probably works better in other locations. I haven't been able to use it on my TV as I had anticipated. Hope some time with someone in house to hook it up so it works with TV and movie theater speakers.
Pros: It does pick up most of the signals in my viewing area.
Cons: It is super slow changing the channels, which to me is very, very agitating!
Very nice box. Easy to hook up. The only thing I would like to see added is an optical audio output, otherwise it fills the need I had.
Pros: Easy hook up and set up.
Cons: Would like an optical audio output.
This Channel Master HDTV tuner is an excellent addition to anyone's video equipment. If you're like me, you need a tuner like this one to record broadcast television programs. This one does the trick and is inexpensive. It has several outputs for your set-up.
Pros: It outputs closed-captioning and you can rescan for channels and still keep your original scan channels.
Cons: None I can think of!
Seems the built in OTA tuners in the newer TVs are less than great. This tuner is a big improvement over the tuner in my Vizo because it picks up a lot of stations the built in doesn't.
When it works the unit is a worthwhile investment. The warranty for this unit is 90 days, and it stopped functioning after 9 months.
Pros: Enables over the air TV reception
Cons: Short warranty period of 90 days Software seems to get stuck in "standby mode"
Bought this as a replacement for one that quit. Seems this particular "chassis" is repacked case-wise and sold under several different brand names. Doesn't really matter because the thing works great! The auto channel scan picked up several dozen OTA digital stations and that's in a very rural area. Now granted, the antenna is on a 45 foot tower, but the rotor no longer works while the basic preamp does. Easy to set-up, works great, nice remote; my only complaints (why it got 4 stars instead of 5) (1) Is that when it's off there is a green standby LED lit. (confusing for the elderly family member who uses this) and (2) the channel display on the front of the unit is very, very dim. You can see it at night OK, but during the day it is nearly impossible to see from across the room. Please note that this seems to be a design problem for all of this same basic circuit board. The one this replaced (different brand) was exactly the same.
Pros: Easy set-up, lots of channels, great picture quality, handy remote
Cons: Confusing standby LED, front panel channel display very dim, hard to see in daytime room light
picks up digital channels well but blocks basic channels if you have cable
Pros: very good picture quality for digital
Cons: needs a bypass button for basic cable channels
Antenna Tuner: Watch digital TV and HDTV with the CM-7001 Antenna Tuner by Channel Master. This HD digital set-top box tunes ATSC (Antenna) or Clear QAM (Unencrypted Cable) signals for televisions, displays, and projectors that do not have built-in HDTV tuners. Easy to setup and use, this antenna compatible digital HDTV converter box carries no monthly subscription or service fees. Pick up free digital TV and HDTV broadcasts with this Channel Master antenna tuner. HDMI and optical audio outputs allow for Dolby Digital quality audio while you watch your favorite programs for free.
Note: In order to receive live over-the-air broadcasts, you will need an outdoor or indoor antenna (sold separately); depending on your location.
Antenna Input/Output: The Channel Master CM-7001 over-the-air HDTV tuner is equipped with a threaded coaxial RF-type cable/antenna input and TV output to connect between your indoor/outdoor antenna and your television. The antenna output provides both standard-definition video and mono audio to your television via channel 3 or 4.
Video Outputs: The Channel Master CM-7001 Antenna Tuner is fitted with both high definition (HDMI/component) and standard definition (composite) video outputs.
Audio Outputs: The Channel Master CM-7001 is equipped with both digital (optical) and analog (RCA) audio outputs.
OSD (On-Screen Display): The Channel Master CM-7001 features an on-screen display which supports English, Spanish, or French text.
TV Screen Settings: You can set your TV's screen aspect ratio (16:9 or 4:3) and screen format (Letter, Center, or Full).
Closed Caption Support: The CM-7001 supports digital Closed Captions. The unit offers many options for Closed Captioning (CC), including font size, colors, edge style, service, and opacity.

The supplied remote control features a numeric keypad (0-9) for direct channel entry. You can program the remote to operate your TV's Power, Volume Up/Down, and Channel Up/Down functions.

The Channel Master CM-7001 features a Clear QAM digital cable TV tuner that can receive unscrambled programs without a set-top box from your cable provider. Clear QAM support varies city by city though, so you'll want to check with your cable provider for compatibility. [ Larry Dec 10, 2015 ] Staff
Hi Dan, The Channel Master CM-7001 is for antenna TV only. As I understand it if you have cable TV or some other form of TV reception you should receive an external tuner from your TV signal provider to receive the TV signal sent by your provider. This tuner is probably specific to your provider's signal transmission system and can only be acquired from your provider. Any other external tuner available for purchase probably would not work. Therefore, you do not need an additional tuner. If you wish to have both antenna and cable capabilities in the event of a transmission outage you can purchase a switch locally that allows you to switch between the two forms of reception. Ken S. This device is only capable of receiving over the air antenna signals. It cannot be used for cable especially now with the discontinuation by cable companies for QAM tuners. [ Jan Mar 04, 2014 ]
Please, do not buy this receiver. It is junk. I have spoken to at least 25 people who had the same problems as I. After the initial warranty is up, it stopped working completely and no one would do anything about it. [ JAMES S Mar 04, 2014 ]
Clear QAM Tuner: The Channel Master CM-7001 also features a Clear QAM digital cable TV tuner that can receive unscrambled programs without a set-top box (cable service still required). Clear QAM support varies city by city; check your cable provider for compatibility. Tunes cable channels 2-135 (unscrambled only). The Channel Master CM-7001 is not compatible with premium subscription cable services, so you will not get content that is only available on a premium cable service such as HBO, Showtime, ESPN, Disney, etc.. The CM-7001 does not support Satellite TV signals. [ Jeff Jan 30, 2014 ] Staff
