About the Select Increments Stealth-Pod

Dominic DeVito
Select Increments brings you the Stealth-Pod portable subwoofer enclosure, a space-saving way to add some kick to your CJ7, Scrambler or Wrangler. This rugged 1/4"-thick black plastic box mounts on the inside of your tailgate in a hideaway position, so it won't take up much of your limited cargo space. In most cases, you can't remove the enclosure without opening the tailgate or flipping down the back seat. For added security, you can easily disconnect the Stealth-Pod, bring it inside with you, then reinstall it in a flash when you return to your Jeep.

The unloaded Stealth-Pod mounts on the tailgate via bracket hangers which isolate the enclosure and reduce noise-causing vibrations. The sealed enclosure's internal volume measures 0.7 cubic feet, so Type 1 10" component subs work best in the enclosure — just install the sub of your choice, then add an amplifier and wiring. Your sub fires down at a slight angle, giving you punchy bass that adds depth to your music while the speaker is protected from the elements.

The package includes all the necessary mounting hardware, including a 10" foam gasket that forms an airtight seal around your speaker. Please enter your vehicle information or call a Sales Advisor at 1-888-955-6000 to find out if this model is compatible with your vehicle. Some slight drilling modification to the tailgate or enclosure may be required to properly mount your subwoofer and install the Stealth-Pod, depending on your Jeep.

Q
Is this big enough to fit a JL 10W6v3 & will it rattle any being partially plastic? (the application is for 2000 Jeep Wrangler)

You should be good with that particular speaker, there's plenty of room inside. The way it mounts is just with 2 slide mounts that screw into the tailgate then the bottom on the pod gets a little rubber bumper. I stuffed a shop rag behind the upper part of the pod to keep it from rattling on my 14 JKU.

Q
I'm looking to put a jl 10w7 any idea if this woofer will fit?
john  Jun 27, 2017

A
The airspace of the Stealth Pod (0.70 cubic feet) is far too small for the recommended airspace of the JL Audio 10W7 (1.25 cubic feet) so, it is not a recommended woofer for this enclosure. The JL Audio 10W6v3 is recommended though: http://www.crutchfield.com/p_13610W6V3/item.html I hope that helps. My Bio: https://www.crutchfield.com/bio/Ryan

I went with Alpine Series S subwoofer and my amp was a five channel Alpine amp. It pushes out a lot of RMS watts and sounds amazing

Alpine amp and Focal DB sub. Awesome sound.

If you want to go the semi-budget way, then go with the JL AudioHX300/1amp and a JL Audio10W0v3-4 sub.
david  Oct 10, 2016

Depends on what you want. I used kicked sub and kicker amp my wrangler already had kicker speakers in sound bar.

This product is the enclosure only. The subwoofer has to be purchased separately. I purchased a JL Audio 10" sub and it works great. Crutchfield has a nice selection of subs that will fit this enclosure.

No speaker. It's just the sub box. It's made of heavy duty plastic and molded to fit behind the back seat of a Jeep Wrangler. Any 10" subwoofer will fit in the box. I bought a Polk audio 10" sub and it fit right in. Not Ana's way to add some bass to your ride. It's

It doesn't come with a speaker. I used a 10" JL and it sounded great.

no speakers are included .. they are sold separately - for what it's worth, don't waste your time/money on this enclosure ... although it can be 'stable' when installed properly, it will rattle like crazy ... I replaced mine with a traditional enclosure after a month

Q
I'm just curious if I will have to move my back seat forward to accommodate for the sub woofer's size. Is it necessary to allow the sub to fit?
wayne  Jul 07, 2015

A
No, you do not have to move your seat for the subwoofer, it fits behind the rear seat.

I bought it for my son's 2006 TJ 2 door X Wrangler. It just fits in the space behind the seat and the rear gate. We mounted it on the door close to the hinges about an inch above floor level. It did make the gate creak quite a bit form the weight (we installed a pretty good subwoofer in it) so I installed the rubber feet on the enclosure and set it on the floor. It works great and no more creaking of the rear door. We like the plastic enclosure so if it does rain It doesn't ruin the subwoofer or the enclosure like the wooden ones.

Your rear seat stays in the factory location. I am very pleased with the product, it is well made and looks good too. Don't forget to leave enough slack in the wires for your tailgate to open. Tell them you want the entire system I purchased, not a problem hearing the stereo with the top off. good luck!
e brent  Jul 08, 2015
A
You won't have to move the seat there is plenty of room.
chris  Jul 08, 2015

The Stealth Pod fits without moving your back seat. It takes up approximately 1/2 of the available cargo space behind the seat.
george  Jul 08, 2015
A
No need. It fits perfectly with the seat full back and the box follows the angled contour of the back seat. Works great!

Q
Wondering how this sounds compared to a forward-firing traditional wooden enclosure of the same dimensions. Is the sound the same?
brian  Feb 02, 2014

A
Bought for 2006 Jeep Wrangler 2 door. Very tight space. We often have the top down so plastic down firing was better option than wood forward firing. in case it rains. Can't compare to forward firing wood enclosure but the plastic on this is thick and the enclosure is solid. We added JL 10W1V3 10 in. sub with JL 300 amp XD300/1 with great sound. We don't hear any vibration. Comes with seal and baffling. The installation is removable so can be either removed or placed on the seat, for example, to use cargo space. Seems like a good solution to adding nice bass to a small space with weather a factor.
gary  Mar 06, 2014

Sound is actually awesome. Really provides great balance to road noise.
scott  Feb 03, 2014
A
It is a great compromise of space utilization, sound and economy. Bass sound isn't directional so it doesn't matter if it fires up, down, back or forward.
