Overview

Our take on the Select Increments Stealth-Pod

Select Increments brings you the Stealth-Pod portable subwoofer enclosure, a space-saving way to add some kick to your CJ7, Scrambler or Wrangler. This rugged 1/4"-thick black plastic box mounts on the inside of your tailgate in a hideaway position, so it won't take up much of your limited cargo space. In most cases, you can't remove the enclosure without opening the tailgate or flipping down the back seat. For added security, you can easily disconnect the Stealth-Pod, bring it inside with you, then reinstall it in a flash when you return to your Jeep.

The unloaded Stealth-Pod mounts on the tailgate via bracket hangers which isolate the enclosure and reduce noise-causing vibrations. The sealed enclosure's internal volume measures 0.7 cubic feet, so Type 1 10" component subs work best in the enclosure — just install the sub of your choice, then add an amplifier and wiring. Your sub fires down at a slight angle, giving you punchy bass that adds depth to your music while the speaker is protected from the elements.

The package includes all the necessary mounting hardware, including a 10" foam gasket that forms an airtight seal around your speaker. Please enter your vehicle information or call a Sales Advisor at 1-888-955-6000 to find out if this model is compatible with your vehicle. Some slight drilling modification to the tailgate or enclosure may be required to properly mount your subwoofer and install the Stealth-Pod, depending on your Jeep.

Very nice sub box, very innovative design for the limited space in a Jeep! Not hard to install as long as the directions are followed.

Really like how this looks in my '99 TJ. Pretty installation if you have the required tools. Be sure that when you install it, you use hand tools only, so that there is less risk of cracking any of the plastic parts required to install the box.

Great quality product. Installs, appears and functions as described. Best solution for adding a sub in a very small amount of space. Removes extremely easy for full use of the cargo area. Installed a Rockford R2 sub with Rockford R250.1 amp in a 2012 JK and sounds great.

Pros: Quality product, looks good and sounds great

Cons: Overcomplicated instructions and no mounting template. However, it's easy enough to figure out without.

2011 Jeep Wrangler
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

4 out of 5 because I've only had it for a week. At this point I don't see it disappointing me. I bought this enclosure, a kicker sub and a sound ordnance amp and I can't be happier with the amount I've spent for the sound quality. This stealth box does exactly what it needs to do and still allows me the use of my trunk space (the other half when the tailgate is closed). Since the unit is plastic versus a wooden sub box, the sound is a little different because plastic does not absorb sound the same as wood does. It's nothing bad or too noticeable to a casual user versus someone who considers themself an "audiophile". To them it may be noticeable, but in that instance you can simply line the inside of the case with dynamat to help. I haven't done that yet because at this point I do not see a need to. I bought new speakers and tweeters for the front of my jeep and speakers for the sound bar, but they were missing the right amount of bass. This stealth pod and sub made all the difference. I commute to work every day 36 miles (40-50) one way. So quality sound was important to me, as was saving money and not having to get a custom box made for my Wrangler. In my opinion, if you're looking for a cheap, but quality way to get a sub to fit in your wrangler, this is the way to go.

Pros: Does what it advertises. Affordable Space saving Straight forward instructions

Cons: Plastic box construction

Steal-Pod Yes it's worth it!

I installed this in my Jeep Rubicon and couldn't be happier. The enclosure is plenty sturdy and doesn't rattle eventhough it just basically hangs on the Jeep's tailgate. The stealth-pod comes completely disassembled, but detailed instructions are included. You will need to drill holes in your tailgate for the hangers. I installed a Polk DXi104 svc subwoofer and it sounds amazing. The added benefit of easy removal will give you peace of mind when the Jeep has the top off and is unattended and whenever you need the extra space it'll just take a few seconds to remove.

Sounds great using dedicated sub with adj boost control when soft top is on or down. Hard top on all winter. It seemed to me that mounting pins {mounts to rear door} wouldn't hold up but its been a year and no problem. Only advice is to keep a tube of dry graphite to lube pins occasionally as they will tend to squeak. Would recommend reasonably priced, easy in and out and, installation

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This product is really great solution for the limited space in Jeep Wranglers. Easy installation and very easy to remove from the rear door when security is an issue. Installed a JL audio 10" W1v2 in this product...free airspace is .67 cu/ft which is only .03" shy of requirement for the JL. Seems to work just fine and great bass response. Overall this is a great product

Crutchfield asked
Why did you buy this?

I needed a removable subwoofer for my Jeep that could hide behind my back seat. This worked perfectly. [ Robert  May 03, 2016 ]
I have a Jeep Wrangler and this was the best fir for a subwoofer. [ BRIEN  Feb 27, 2016 ]

Yes. You'll find it listed as one of the recommended subwoofer models by clicking the "Accessories" tab on the enclosure's main webpage. I hope that helps! My Bio: http://www.crutchfield.com/Support/Bio.aspx?bio=5 [ Ryan  May 02, 2016 ]  Staff
No, you do not have to move your seat for the subwoofer, it fits behind the rear seat. [ FRANK  Jul 09, 2015 ]
I bought it for my son's 2006 TJ 2 door X Wrangler. It just fits in the space behind the seat and the rear gate. We mounted it on the door close to the hinges about an inch above floor level. It did make the gate creak quite a bit form the weight (we installed a pretty good subwoofer in it) so I installed the rubber feet on the enclosure and set it on the floor. It works great and no more creaking of the rear door. We like the plastic enclosure so if it does rain It doesn't ruin the subwoofer or the enclosure like the wooden ones. [ Gary  Jul 08, 2015 ]
Your rear seat stays in the factory location. I am very pleased with the product, it is well made and looks good too. Don't forget to leave enough slack in the wires for your tailgate to open. Tell them you want the entire system I purchased, not a problem hearing the stereo with the top off. good luck! [ E BRENT  Jul 08, 2015 ]
You won't have to move the seat there is plenty of room. [ CHRIS  Jul 08, 2015 ]
The Stealth Pod fits without moving your back seat. It takes up approximately 1/2 of the available cargo space behind the seat. [ GEORGE  Jul 08, 2015 ]
No need. It fits perfectly with the seat full back and the box follows the angled contour of the back seat. Works great! [ STEPHEN M  Jul 08, 2015 ]
Bought for 2006 Jeep Wrangler 2 door. Very tight space. We often have the top down so plastic down firing was better option than wood forward firing. in case it rains. Can't compare to forward firing wood enclosure but the plastic on this is thick and the enclosure is solid. We added JL 10W1V3 10 in. sub with JL 300 amp XD300/1 with great sound. We don't hear any vibration. Comes with seal and baffling. The installation is removable so can be either removed or placed on the seat, for example, to use cargo space. Seems like a good solution to adding nice bass to a small space with weather a factor. [ Gary  Mar 06, 2014 ]
Sound is actually awesome. Really provides great balance to road noise. [ Scott  Feb 03, 2014 ]
It is a great compromise of space utilization, sound and economy. Bass sound isn't directional so it doesn't matter if it fires up, down, back or forward. [ GEORGE  Feb 03, 2014 ]
