Features
Product Overview: The Mio
DigiWalker H610 is a handheld portable personal navigation and digital entertainment
device. The unit offers real time direction, accurate GPS functionality,
comprehensive point of interest location and a digital media player all in a
single device weighing only 3.88 oz.
GPS Receiver: The Mio
DigiWalker features a 20 channelSiRFstarIII GPS receiver with a built-in GPS
antenna
Antenna Connector: The unit
also has an external GPS antenna connector if needed.
Memory: The H610 has 64MB of
built-in RAM and also comes equipped with a SD/MMC slot for use with SD and
Multimedia cards to store your MP3 files or JPEG images.
Display: The DigiWalker offers
a 2.7" TFT touch-screen with 65k colors.
Audio: The Mio uses a built-in
speaker and features a stereo 3.5mm earphone mini-jack.
Battery: The unit uses a
built-in 1300 mAh Li-Ion battery that can last up to 5 hours. When charging the
battery for the first time, you should charge it for at least 6 hours. The unit
comes with an AC charger adapter to allow you to charge the device in your home.
Preloaded Maps: The H610 comes
preloaded with maps of North America including the 50 US states and Canada.
USB Port: The GPS receiver uses
a Mini-USB port to download music files from your PC to the H610. The USB port
will also charge the unit while it is plugged into your PC.
Digital Entertainment: The H610
allows you to enjoy digital video, photos and music. It also has includes 4
video games in its internal memory.
Earbud Headphones: The unit
comes supplied with a set of earbud headphones that have an in-line remote to
control volume, play/pause, stop, previous and next functions when listening to
your music.
WorldMate: The H610 features a
free 3 year subscription to WorldMate. WorldMate allows you to check weather,
convert currencies and get flight info through your H610.
Voice Guidance: The Mio
DigiWalker offers clear voice instructions and user-friendly menus in 16
languages; including English, Spanish and French.
Mounting: The DigiWalker comes
supplied with a suction cup mounting arm and cradle that can be mounted to the
front windshield or mounted to the dash using the supplied adhesive mounting pad
along with the mounting arm and cradle. Make sure the unit has a clear view of
the sky for the built-in GPS antenna. The unit comes with a cigarette lighter
adapter to allow you to easily it charge it in your vehicle while you are using
it.
2D and 3D Map Views: Besides
the classical top down view of the map (2D mode), you have the possibility to
tilt the map to have a perspective view (3D mode) that gives a view similar to
that seen through the windscreen with the possibility to see far ahead.
TMC (Traffic Message Channel):
MioMap can provide you with even better routes if Traffice Message Channel (TMC)
information is available. The TMC is a specific application of the FM Radio Data
System (RDS) used for bradcasting real-time traffic and weather information. You
will need an optional TMC receiver to attach to the H610 to receive TMC
information. Once the TMC unit is hooked up you do not need to set anything in
the program. The MioMap automatically takes into account the TMC information
received.
Menu Screens
Home Screen: The Home Screen is
your starting place for the following tasks.
- Travel Kit: The Travel Kit
screen includes access to the Compass and WorlMate page.
- Contacts: The Contacts
screen keeps a list of names, addresses and phones numbers.
- Settings: The Settings
screen allows you to customize the system settings.
- MioMap: The MioMap screen
starts the navigation software process.
- MioPlayer: The MioPlayer
screen includes MP3 player, Video Player and Photo View options.
- Game: The Game screen
provides 4 game selections.
Travel Kit Screen:
The Travel Kit screen includes access to
the Compass and WorldMate page.
- Compass: The Compass
screen displays a digital compass indicating which direction you are headed
in. You can calibrate the compass when needed for example if the unit has
not been used for a long period of time.
- WorldMate: The WorldMate
screen provides useful tools for travelers such as clocks, weather forecast,
currency converter, packing lists, and more. The following is a list of all
its features.
- Clocks: allows you to
view the date, time and weather forecast of the five major cities; it
also allows you to set a time for the built-in alarm to go off as a
reminder
- Map: enables you to
view a day/night world map with an icon indicating your location
- Weather: using the
global weather forecast service, you can get a 5-day weather forecast
for over 38,000 location worldwide
- Currency Converter:
use the Currency Converter to convert currencies; once y you enter a
value for a currency, two other currency value a re displayed
simultaneously; you can enter up to three values and the values with be
automatically summed up
- Measurements: use the
Measurement screen to convert measurements
- Clothing: use the
Clothing page to view the size conversion tables for USA, Europe, UK,
and Japan
- Area Codes: use the
Area Codes screen to view the international dialing prefixes and the US
and Canadian area codes
- Packing List: use the
Packing List page as a note to help you pack your bags so you won't
forget anything for your trip
- Tip, Tax Calculation:
the Tip, Tax Calculation screen calculates the recommended tip and tax
amounts in over 30 countries worldwide
- Calculator: the
Calculator screen performs the basic mathematical calculations just like
a stand-alone calculator
Contacts:
The Contacts screen allows you to keeps a
list of names, addresses and phones numbers. Once this information is stored
into the unit you can navigate quickly to your desired contact and have the H610
design a route for that destination.
Settings: The Settings screen
allows you to customize the system settings. You have the ability to customize
the following functions.
- Backlight: allows you to
brighten or dim the backlight of the LCD screen to your preference
- Volume: increases or
decrease the volume of the built-in speaker
- Screen: allows you to
calibrate the touch screen if it is not responding accurately to your taps
- Power: allows you to check
the remaining power level of your battery and/or set up the power saving
feature; you can set a timer to automatically turn off your device when it
is idle for either 30 minutes, 20 minutes, 10 minutes or Never
- Date & Time: allows you to
set the Time Zone, Date, and Time for the H610
- Language: allows you to
change the language setting for the menu screens from various language which
include English, Spanish and French
MioMap Screen:
The MioMap screen gives you access to the following mapping features of the Mio
H610.
- Address Screen: The
Address screen allows you to enter in the State, City, Street Name and House
Number
- Favorites: In the
Favorite's screen you can pick on of your most frequently visited places as
your destination. You can choose from your Home address or Work address.
- History: The History
screen is a list of your most recent destinations and search results.
- POI: The POI screen lists
out popular places of interest in your traveling area that are useful when
traveling. You can change the area to locate a POI from manually entering in
an address, using a saved address, manually selecting coordinates, using
your current GPS location, or by using your destination route. You can
select from the following POIs.
- MY POI: personal
stored placed of interests
- Transportation: lists
airport terminals, airports, ferry terminals, railroad stations, parking
and rest areas
- Entertainment: lists
amusement parks, movie theaters, night life, zoos, casinos and tourist
attractions
- Sports Recreation:
list of golf courses, swimming pools, fitness/sport centers, beaches,
parks, ice skating rinks, tennis courts, stadiums and yacht basins
- Food & Drink: lists of
restaurants and wineries
- Services: lists of gas
stations, car repair shops, tourist information centers, pharmacies,
banks, car dealers, car rentals, post offices, ATMs and businesses
- Shopping: lists
shopping centers and other stores
- Culture: lists
museums, live theaters, concert halls, exhibition centers, places of
worship, opera, libraries, cultural centers, convention centers,
colleges/universities and schools
- Emergency/Government:
list of hospitals/clinics, dentists, police stations, courthouses, first
aid, emergency care, veterinarians, embassies, government offices and
fire departments
- Lodging: list of
hotels/motels and campground/RV parks
- Map/Cockpit Navigation
Screens: The Map page is mainly used for map browsing. Use the Map
screen to create user POI items or plan your route. The Map screen is
designed to give you the maximum map area. The Map screen is usually used in
2D mode. The Cockpit screen is the map page you will use for navigation. The
map looks like a conventional road-map. A green arrow represents your
current position and an orange line shows the recommended route. The Cockpit
screen is usually used in 3D mode. Both maps give you the following
features.
- Tilt Up and Down: This
function modifies the vertical viewing angle of the map in 3D mode. You
can change the angle in a wide range starting from a top down view (2D
view is seamlessly integrated) all the way to a flat view that
lets you see far ahead.
- GPS Position Quality:
The map screens will inform you about your GPS signal indicating whether
you have a GPS connection or not and whether the H610 is ready to
navigate.
- Battery Status: The
status of the battery is also shown on the map screens. You can estimate
the available power reserve from the length of the bar inside the
indicator.
- Cursor Menu: The
Cursor Menu pops up automatically to give you the list of possible
functions you can use the Cursor for. You have the following options.
- Start: use the
Cursor as the departure point for your route
- Route: use the
Cursor as the destination of your route
- Add Via: use this
to instruct the MioMap to cross this location before the destination
of the route
- Remove Via:
removes "Via Point" near or at the Cursor
- Continue: adds a
new destination to be reached after the previous destination
- Add Cam: this will
place a speed camera at the position of the Cursor.
- Edit Cam: you can
edit the parameters of the camera near or at the cursor, or delete
it
- Add POI: open the
new POI capture window to let you add the selected map point to the
list of your user points
- POI: opens the
list of POIs near the selected point
- GPS Data Displayed:
The virtual sky on the left of the screen represents the currently
visible part of the sky above you, with your position as the center. The
satellites are shown at their current positions. The GPS receives data
from both the green and gray satellites. Signals from the gray
satellites are only received, while green ones are used by the GPS to
calculate your current location. On the right are satellite signal
strength bars. Dark bars are for the gray satellites and orange bars are
for the green ones. The more satellites your GPS tracks (the green
ones), the better you calculated position will be.
- Coordinates: The
Coordinates screen allows you to put in a longitude and latitude
numerical value as your destination point.
- Recalculate: The H610
offers automatic recalculation if you go off course but it also allows
you to recalculate your course manual at any time.
- Manage Track Logs: It
is possible to save the track logs of journeys. This screen lets you
manage all your track logs.
- Itinerary: The
Itinerary (route event list) screen has 3 different display modes and
two functions.
- Display Modes: The
display modes differ in the number of events displayed in the list.
The listed items are always shown with all information available
including pictograms of the needed action and distance of the event
from the previous item.
- Detailed
Instructions: list of events in full detail
- Instructions:
lists of events that need your attention
- Route Summary:
overview of the route containing only the significant roads and
intersections
- Fly Over: This feature
has no navigation function, it merely provides a quick view of the
route. It will present a simulation of the route showing what you will
see later when navigating.
- Cockpit Screen Features Only:
- Turn Preview: this
field shows a graphic illustration of your next maneuver.
- Current Street: shows
the name or number of the current street or road you are driving on
- Travel and Route Data:
these fields show the estimated time needed to reach the destination,
the distance to destination, and the estimated arrival time at the
destination.
- Distance to Next Turn:
this field shows the distance to go before reaching the next turn
- Next Street/Next
Settlement: this field shows the road or street that comes next in
the route itinerary
- Approaching Next Turn:
this bar visualizes the distance when you get closer than 300 meters to
the next turn
- Current Speed: shows
the speed limit of the current road while you are cruising or navigating
a route
- Route Information Screen:
The Route Information screen has all the data and some of the functions
you need while you navigate.
- Bypass: When you run
it a traffic jam or roadblock you may want to have MioMap calculate a
route that departs the original routes as you as it can to give you an
alternate route to your destination.
- MioMap Settings: Both
MioMaps (Map and Cockpit) offer the following adjustments.
- General Settings: The
general settings mode allows you to make the following adjustments to
your H610.
- Favorite Destinations:
The feature allows you to enter in an address and name for your
Home Favorite and Work Favorite destination.
- Daylight and Night
Color Schemes: The different color schemes let you adjust MioMap
to the brightness of the environment. Daylight colors are similar to
paper roadmaps while the night color schemes use dark tints for
large objects to keep the average brightness of the screen low, with
carefully selected colors to still keep you informed about all the
necessary information on the screen.
- Speed Cameras:
There are 4 types of speed cameras.
- Fixed Cameras:
allows you set the traffic direction and speed limit; if your
speed limit exceeds the speed limit near the camera, a special
warning sound will be played
- Mobile Cameras:
allows you to set the traffic direction and warns you when you
near a mobile-type camera
- Built-In Cameras:
allows you set the traffic direction and speed limit; if
your speed limit exceeds the speed limit near the camera, a
special warning sound will be played
- Section Control
Cameras: warns you when you approach these cameras; if your
speed exceeds the limit set between the two the cameras the
warning will sound
- Safe Mode: When
the Safe Mode is turned on you cannot operate the GPS receiver while
the vehicle is in motion.
- Off-Route
Recalculation: If you go off the configured route the H610 will
automatically reconfigure a new route to get you back on track to
your destination.
- Route Settings: The
H610 features the following route parameters adjustments.
- Route: selects
between configuring your route between fastest, shortest, or most
economical
- Vehicle: choose
what type transportation you will be using to travel - Car, Taxi,
Bus, Truck, Emergency, Pedestrian, or Bicycle
- Avoid: select what
type of roads you would like to avoid - Unpaved Roads, Ferries,
Permits Needed, Cross-border Planning, Highways, U-turns, and Toll
Roads
- Sound Settings: The
Sound Settings screen allows you to adjust the Master, Voice and Key
volume independently. You can also choose for the volume to get louder
or softer depending on your speed due to traffic noise. You can also
turn the sound warnings/prompts from 1 tone, 2 tone or off.
- Language and Units:
You can adjust the language readout and voice, as well as adjust to a 24
or 12 hour clock. You can also choose between metric measuring units or
the US standard.
- Advanced Settings: The
Mio H610 offers the following advanced settings.
- Cockpit: allows
you to select between 2D or 3D mode and configure what information
is displayed in the left, middle and right fields of the screen
- Backlight: allows
you to customize the day and night backlight from 1 to 8; it also
allows you to select the Backlight always on or in Power Save mode
- User Data Management:
allows you backup data, restore data, clear data or reset Advanced
settings
- Map Options: The
Map Options screen allows you to make the following adjustments.
- Color Profile:
allows you to change the color profile for the Night and Day
MioMap
- Streets and Roads:
MioMap uses two different ways to show street labels. The
conventional way is the same as a roadmap as it displays the
name of the street aligned with street. The alternative is kind
of virtual signpost stuck into the street itself.
- Zoom Levels:
MioMap uses high quality vector maps that let you see the map at
various zoom level, always with optimized content. Street names and
other text objects are always displayed with the same font size,
never upside down and you only see as many streets and objects as
needed to fin your way around the map. Zoom in and out to see how
the map changes in either the 2D or 3D view. You can manually zoom
or have H610 automatically (smart) zoom.
- Presentation Modes:
You can view the map screens in three different presentation modes.
- Track-Up: the
map rotates during navigation to always face the direction of
your travel
- North-Up Mode:
the map is fixed to keep facing North
- Overview Mode:
this mode looks similar to the North-up mode with one
difference, the zoom level in this mode has a fixed default to
give you a better look of where you are on the map
MioPlayer: The MioPlayer screen
includes MP3 player, Video Player and Photo View options.
- MP3 Player: The MP3 Player
screen turns your H610 into a portable MP3 player with the following
features.
- Playback Capabilities:
MP3/WAV/WMA files
- Basic Controls: play,
pause, stop, next and previous, volume
- Playback Modes: single
selection playback, repeat, single repeat, sampling playback, normal
sequence and random sequence
- 11 Preset Equalizer Audio
Profiles: choose from Default, Hall, 3D, Soft, Disco, Heavy, Dance,
Classic, Jazz, Pop and Rock
- Playlist Support: the
program automatically loads all the MP3 files in the playlist; you can
also create your own playlists for future use
- Background Playing:
you can switch to the Photo Viewer without stopping your music
- Lyrics display: allows
you to display the real-time lyrics on the screen while playing your
favorite songs
- Video Player: The Video
Player allows you to watch the video clips on your H610.

- On-Screen Controls:
use the onscreen control button to control the playback of the video
- Photo Viewer: The Photo
Viewer allows you to view picture in JPEG and BMP formats and view the
slideshow of the pictures.
- Thumbnail View: allows
you to view nine small thumbnail pictures at once
- Full Screen View: when
you tap a picture in the thumbnail view, the picture is displayed in
full screen
- On-Screen Controls:
The on screen control button provide various functions and settings.
- Transfer:
transfers pictures between the device and the storage card (either
way)
- Slideshow: starts
the display of your photos in a slideshow fashions
- Interval: sets the
length of time each slide is displayed before moving on the next
slide; you can select from 1, 3 or 5 seconds
- Information:
enables or disable the displaying of the name and date of the file
- Delete: deletes
the current picture
- Zoom: allows you
to zoom in to the image from 1.2x, 1.5x, 1.8x or 2.0x; when you have
zoomed in the picture, you can drag the picture to view other parts
of the picture
- Back: goes back to
the thumbnail view
Games:
The Game screen provides 4 game
selections which include the Titles - Fireball, Plumbin, Gems and Flux.

Front Components: The following
items are located on the front of the Mio H610.
- Charge Indicator: glows in
bright amber to indicate that the battery is charging and turns green when
the battery is fully charged
- Touch Screen: display the
output of your device; use your fingertip to tap the screen to select
commands and menu functions
- Hand String Hole: the
supplied hand strap attaches to this hole located on the bottom front of the
unit
Back Components: The following
items are located on the back of the Mio H610
- Car Antenna Connector:
this connector (under rubber dust cover) allows use of an optional external
antenna with a magnetic mount, which may be positioned on top of the car for
better signal reception in areas with poor reception
- Speaker: the unit contains
a built-in speaker for music, sounds and voice prompts

following items are located on the left side of the Mio H610.
